Chälan was taken aback. How had she gotten so close without him sensing her?! But even more confounding was that she was openly revealing herself. She must be mad! Or confident. It didn't matter; this was their chance. "Get her!!" someone shouted, even as Chälan called on his power.
"Magic her so we can move in for the kill!!" yelled Merin, as everyone leaped into action.

Aruka jumped away from the blast of lightning and rolled away into the shelter of the trees as she watched the battle rage. Burr came up behind her, "C'mon, we must go, that or help the witch!" Aruka turned and looked at him, appauled, "They may be right," she whimpered, "the witch is a horrible woman! Why would you help her!" "Because she's all we have!" Burr stared intensly at Aruka, so she turned away and looked in horror at the scene before her, "I can't just sit here and do nothing..." she whispered, Aruka looked down at her ravaged hands, rough from practicing magic with the witch, hands that had experienced more than what she thought, Aruka closed her eyes and swept out her arms, feeling the running water moving through her head and down her arms, then Aruka felt it starting to drip off her fingers in pouring streams. Burr grabbed her arms, but she had already begun, "What are you doing!?" Burr shouted, but the water kept coming, Aruka could feel the earth rejecting soaking it up, Aruka felt the water gaining up her legs, it was to her waist now, so Aruka stood up and it returned to her knees. Burr looked down and cursed, "Aruka, you'll drown us all!" "No, Burr! It's all under control!" The flash flood, Aruka could feel its borders several miles away, where people would find walls of water.

What the girl had said earlier puzzled Tania... she was going to 'work for the king'? But... did that mean that it was the king who employed the witch? If so, why was he trying to destroy her? Something was going on. Just what was going on with this king? Which story was true? ...Or were they both true? Perhaps the king did employ the witch and her minions... but perhaps they were growing too strong for him to control? Perhaps the behest was his way of ridding himself of them? It was just a guess, but Tania wondered...
Tania started as a figure suddenly seemed to materialize out of nowhere. It was the sorceress! Huh... well, that was easy. Such an arrogant woman, to appear openly in such a manner. They didn't even have to come looking for her. Tania held back as the others rushed forward. She decided to observe how the witch handled them before rushing forward herself. A sorceress like her was undoubtedly shielded, somehow. She wondered if the magic users they had in their company would be strong enough to break her shields. Her eyes moved automatically to the witch's person, noting any places she would be keeping any gold. Meh... useless. She must have left it all at her hideout, wherever it was.
Then, suddenly... there was something moving near her feet. Tania hissed as she felt the dampness hit her bare feet. And it wasn't just the dampness of the forest floor... glancing down, she saw that there was a layer of water steadily rising across the ground. She instinctively leaped into the branches of the tree directly above her. Ugh! She hated water! She vigorously shook it off herself. Disgusting. She glanced around as she heard the rush of water grow louder.
Water... there was water everywhere... rising higher... her gaze landed on the source of it. Aruka. That crafty nymph. After all this, she was still helping that evil woman? Hmph. Well, she wouldn't stand for it. So much water shouldn't be allowed in one place. It was repulsive. Leaping nimbly from branch to branch, Tania soon reached the limb just above the little sorceress. She plucked a pine cone and threw it squarely atop the girl's head. "Hey, cut it out!" She called down to her, pitching another cone, "Don't you want to be free of that witch?" She threw a few more to get her attention. Maybe it would distract her long enough for the others to get close enough to the witch and finally be rid of her. And if the cones didn't work... she had other means.

Aruka, distracted by the pinecones, accidentally let the water drop, and as it did, the witch escaped. Having cried in fear as her hair was wet, she now glared at Aruka, "You little-!" the witch threw up her hands and Aruka ducked as a barrage of thunder pounded through her head, Aruka flinched as lightning overhead flashed, Kyuuki barked and shook off the water that had enveloped him, "Farukaaa!" he cried, he ran up to Aruka and started to bark at both the girl throwing the cones and the witch, "Leavess hers alun!" Burr drew his dagger and looked between the girl and the witch, the girl would be easier, but the witch was more of a threat. Burr lunged for the witch, dagger outstretched.

((maybe we should make an OOC thread. Well let's see... Aruka and Burr showed up, and we were about to question them and try to get them on our side. But just then the witch showed up out of nowhere. The two are confused, and Aruka tries to make a big flood, but Tania stops her by throwing a pine cone on her head. I'm not sure what happened after that... I'm probably not reading Tally's last post right... but I can at least gather that Burr finally decided to go against the witch for now, and he's lunging at her with his dagger.
I'm not really sure what's supposed to happen now, though. Maybe Burr's going to get the witch, but I don't know who controls the witch to say when she dies. I guess that'd actually be you.))

(I don't really cares who decides the witch dies, she could live for all I care, but um...so yeah in the last post I made I flinched at the pinecones and I couldn't hold the water up so it went away, Kyuuki tried to stop Tania from hitting me with pinecones stare and Burr...well yeah, he's attacking the witch because he's fed up with her...)

((I can't really post in my position right now, but I would assume that Burr would likely not be able to touch the witch with his dagger, since she has probably erected magical barriers around herself. Really, this kind of puts us in a bind, since we really don't know how to take on the witch at this time... hmm... perhaps she will retreat, and her two apprentices will side with us and help us figure out the witch's weak points so we can get her next time...? Or not. Just a suggestion. Or... if we wanted to totally twist the plot, we could end up killing the witch here, but the real menace turns out to be the king, himself. Or something. biggrin Just throwing stuff around.))

(hmm...I don't know...oh well, I think that I'll just post...this has reached a dead end, but...maybe there's a little tunnel in this dead end.... biggrin )
Aruka jumped over Kyuuk's back and reached out as Burr attacked, suddenly a ward set around the witch reflected the dagger away from her and the dagger flew from Burr's hand, spinning through the air, "Hah hah! You, Burr, are so naïve! I never dreamed you would oppose me, and even so, after being with me your whole life you've underestimated even my most obvious wards!" Burr growled at the witch as he fell down onto the soaking grass. Aruka looked at the witch and swallowed the lump in her throat as the witch looked angrily at Burr and everyone else there.

((I always thought killing the witch was just a first step in this huge roleplay. 'Cause at the beginning it said something like "part 1: the songstress of storms," so I figured "part 2" would come after we're done taking her out. The king wouldn't be the villain, though. The person the witch is [possibly] serving is the bad guy who's trying to take over.
And really, the witch shouldn't be standing much of a chance against us. The dwarves are just waiting for Marlo and Chälan to magick her so they can start swinging heavy metal objects. [lol, heavy metal; I'm pretty clever] Anyway, I hope Osaya can post Marlo doing something. [/prod] smile ))

((Oh wow...sorry I haven't been on. School and what-not.))
Marlo called Tyr over and together they helped the group with their fighting. Sauda also helped in the meantime. ((Taking over the witch here for a moment...)) The Witch began to walk forward carefully, measuring her steps acurately and precisely as she was brought up to do through her training, before she murdered her master hideously. "I practically raised you two and this it the thanks I get," she said and hissed. "Well no more, for I shall end everyone's life here now." Marlo spoke a few magic words and suddenly a small globe of darkness penetrated the Witch's shield and momentarily blinded her. Tyr took the advantage to jump on her and pin her to the ground. "Get her!" Marlo said triumphantly.
((The witch is supposed to die because this isn't the end and the king isn't the bad guy either so just wait and go with it. I'll try and be on more.))

Aruka wiped her eyes furiously and kneeled down beside Burr, "Are you okay?" she asked Burr, but Burr turned and put both hands on her shoulders, then assessed her, "Are you okay? You're crying!" Aruka sniffled and wiped her runny nose, "I'm fine," she said, smiling for the moment as she realized she might not be alone, she might just have a brother. Then Aruka looked up at the witch and glared.

((I hope everyone doesn't mind me doing this. Otherwise it'll take so long if we all post how we helped get the witch. Hopefully this will all be fair.))
Dalin lunged at the witch, bringing his axe around for a mighty mid-air swing. The huge blade connected, but only nicked the skin before being blown back by an unseen force, hurling not only Dalin but Marlo and Tyr off of her and against the trees. Chälan, having seen what happened, thought he knew what to do, but they had to be fast while she was distracted. Tania jumped from the trees and tackled the witch as she was blindly staggering to her feet. Sauda helped keep her down, ready this time in case the witch tried the same thing again. "Merin, 'plunge your sword into her at a run, as soon as I phinish; aim phor her heart," said Chälan as Merin was about to charge in. "Stand her up; don't chut her!" he called to Tania and Sauda. He quickly called on his power before they lost the chance.
"Naeí Alaerra teris tsindëri sethaen san hyerna tsindëri Aeris-danath!!"
Immediately sharp shafts of water materialized out of the air and flew toward the witch, piercing her in a hundred different places on her body. The projectiles drew no blood, but they cut off the flow of her aura, her Life-paths. It would halt her magic long enough to land the finishing blow. The witch shrieked. "Now!!" Chälan called to Merin, but she was already at a dead run. Merin gave a cry and launched herself at the witch, her greatsword held close, pointing out in front of her. The dwarf-woman crashed into the witch, and the blade sank into her flesh, running straight through armor and bone, dividing her heart in half before piercing through to the other side. The witch's unseeing eyes went blank, and her scream abruptly cut off. She was dead.
The witch slumped to the ground, still impaled on Merin's sword, and Chälan breathed a sigh of relief.

Aruka turned her head away from the witch's body, "Now what?" Burr asked, frowning, Aruka stood up and wiped her runny nose, "I'm going back ho....to the cave to get my stuff, then," Aruka looked sheepsihly down at her shoes, "I suppose if I could travel with these people I would..." Aruka scuffed her shoes on the damp grass and sighed.

Tania leaped triumphantly into the air. "Awright!!!" She whooped, "We did it!" Once on firm ground again, the important part of the thought was completed, and she gasped, "Now we get the gold!!!" Oh... Her cat-ears drooped slightly as she remembered... her plan was to take the gold for herself after all this was done... that was the plan. But... She glanced around at the friends she had made on the way. She had never really had many friends before. And these people... they didn't treat her like most people would treat a neko. It was... reassuring, if anything. It sparked a glimmer of hope in her. Maybe... she could just stay with them. They could finish the quest together. She didn't need all that gold anyways (what did she just think???). Yes... she could make it her first step. The first step of her new life. With new friends.
Tania smiled--a true, genuine smile. "Sure is great to have friends, huh?"
