Irro started coughing the moment the purple gas was released. Then she started to fall alseep. No, can't sleep. If I do, I'll sink. At least Marcus's experiment will have failed. Irro was completely knocked out at that point, but Jen dove in and dragged her out of the water.
"Ha, Irro. I've got you. At last." Then she viciously stabbed Irro in the neck with the tranq dart. Irro, knocked out though she might be, screamed. "Marcus, one more down, one to go!"

Kara weakly tried to move, but her muscles felt like jelly.

Liz laughed. "Got you now." She lifted Kara like she weighed no more than a feather and walked around the gas to Marcus. "I get to carve my experiment, right? She caused too much of a ruckus to keep contained. She might accidentally harm Becca next time." Liz played on Marcus' feelings for her daughter. If this brat escapes again, she will hurt someone. Be it Marcus or Becca or any of these pathetic brats, I won't have it. Liz stretched her right wing. It was covered in blood, but undamaged. She lifted her left wing only to feel a deep stabbing pain. "Urgh... Riley broke my wing... I'll have to fix that..."
Liz stopped and looked toward Jen. "Congratulations! Now start dragging in the poor teens."

Dr. Marcus frowned, deep in thought. Her eyes softened at the mention of her daughter, but she shook her head. "No, they will stay alive for now. But they have no freedoms. No one leaves the cage." She walked around the lake, picking up Riley's limp body. She stared in disgust at the blood seeping onto her crisp white labcoat. "Make sure you take care of any injuries. We don't want these three to die; they managed to force off the total Change."

Liz frowned. So much for my revenge... She thought about how they managed to avoid the Change. "Amazing how these creatures adapt to survive. Too bad Kara won't leave my sight again." Liz's voice indicated that next time Kara tried to escape, she wouldn't be safe with Marcus watching her. "You know what they say Dr., Once the Dog's past their prime, you either shoot it, or waste money and time on the useless beast." Liz picked Kara up and examined her arms. "Seems she didn't completely stop the Change, Marcus. She's grown scales on her arms." Liz took Kara away from the spot and started to walk to the lab. "I hate walking, it's so much slower..."

Jake ran faster than he had ever gone before. He didn't feel tired after a short burst of speed either. Maybe they messed with my endurance too... He didn't breathe heavily or feel a stitch in his side. They definently messed with something...

Jen fished out the fishies from the lake. "Got 'em, Liz!" She walked over to Marcus and said, "They only think they fought well." Jen laughed. She took a syringe from her lab coat pocket and gave Irro the temporary antidote so that the DNA wouldn't leave her seal and slippery. "Let's get these rogue experiments back to the lab." And she hoisted Irro over her shoulder and started back to The Facility.

Dr. Marcus nodded, swinging Riley's thin, bony body around and walking briskly back to the lab. She looked somewhat sadly at Tala, who still lay whimpering. "D-Doc?" She called, lifting her nose into the air. Dr. Marcus made a low humming sound so Tala could follow them back to the Facility.

Liz stopped to wait for Marcus and Jen. She could hear Marcus humming. "Wonder if Tala will be alright... If not I could always give her some new eyes... Maybe she'd like some fish eyes..." Liz sighed. "Not this time... Too bad..."

Jen walked up to Liz and smiled. "I think I've got some healing solutions and braces in my lab if you want some. That wing... Riley got you good, didn't she? At least they lost. Hope Tala will be okay. She's very loyal." Jen looked up. "Well, we're here. We can set these idioitic little brats in their cages and get on to more important things."

Liz looked at Jen and smiled. "You sure you don't have some sort of animal DNA? Maybe a bird's DNA?" Liz unlocked the door with her keys and lifted Kara higher. "Night night my difficult fishy." She smiled wickedly at Jen.

Dr. Marcus tossed Riley into her habitat, allowing her to skid a few feet into the bushes. Dr. Marcus smiled as she heard the unconcious wimper. She locked the cage and turned to Tala, who had followed right behind her. "Tend to Tala's wounds first, Jen." She said calmly.

Jen turned beet red after she heard Marcus's remark. "Right. Almost forgot." She ran to her lab, grabbed several vials and many bandages. She came back to Tala and took out a vial filled with a clear solution. She took out a syringe and said, "Anesthetics. Good." She kept taking out syringes and injecting Tala in specific places until she was out. "Now for her bandages..." She murmured as she doctored Tala. Fifteen minutes later, she picked up Tala and set her in her habitat. It was furnished well and looked very comfortable. She went back to her laboratory, grabbed one full syringe and a sling, came back out and gave them to Liz. "If you need them. I think I might add some cobra features..."

Dr. Marcus smiled, walking to a wall and grabing her clipboard. She then walked between the habitats, checking them off as she went. She stopped at and aquatic habitat labeled 'Recently occupied: Half-fish'. She dropped the clipboard, running up to Becca's room. She was alone, sound asleep, so Dr. Marcus ran down to Jen and Liz, panting. "We're still.... missing.....Jake. He...Escaped!" She said in between breathes.

Jen spun around. "What?! Where would he have gone?!" But...the gas is still kind of in effect.... so if he runs through those woods he'll slow down! "I'll get my cobra DNA later! We need to get Jake before he outs the story to the world!"

Liz had tossed Kara into her habitat already. Not to mention she also kicked her into the center of the room. She had been coming around the corner when she heard about Jake. "WHAT?!!" She turned to the habitat and opened the door, only to see an empty room. "FANTASTIC!!!" She slammed the door and marched up to Marcus. Liz was fuming, "If I catch that brat, Marcus. He'll never wake up from my experiment!" The threat rang in her voice and shone in her eyes. She flapped her injured wings hard, but didn't feel the pain. This was the final straw.

Jake kept running. He didn't feel a stitch of exhaustion. "Woof. This is weird feeling..." He kept running past the trees. The darkness started to give off to light. "Town? Or dawn?"

Riley stirred in her sleep, but refused to open her eyes. "FANTASTIC!" she heard Liz . "If I catch that brat, Marcus. He'll never wake up from my experiment!" Riley felt her heart pounding and she smiled. Heh, so it wasn't a total failure after all. But the nearest town is a few miles away, I hope he makes it.
