Ailis gave a small laugh. *Eccentric is right...you're not from around here, are you?* She adressed the group, having taken note of thier clothes and dialect. *Oh, also, I apologize on behalf of my freind at the beach. Sinion tends not to like travelers much.*

((OOC: Sorry, I haven't had much time recently.))
Shin was slightly surprised no one had spoken for him. "We were trespassers. He was merely defending his territory." In a stroke of what seemed like insanity, Shin chose to defend the beast that nearly devoured him. "My name is Shin. My allies and I here have come from very far away, and now we're lost."

For a moment Kayne's rationality considered the possibility of insanity. He was fairly certain there was no body to house the - he was sure it was female - voice that otherwise sounded from the forest. And of course, even more irrational was the fact that Shin was talking to the . . . forest as if it was something he did every day.
But reality kicked back in and the idea vanished. They were in an unfamiliar world. They had come across a man who looked like he'd jumped out from the Middle Ages. They'd just been attacked - and in Shin's case, almost eaten - by a Occidental Sea Serpent. As far as he was concerned, there were quite a few laws of rationality and physics that no longer applied. They'd have to adapt to that.
Remembering something from books he'd read upon, Kayne took a rough calculation of where the "source" of the voice was coming from and bowed low in that direction.
"Virtuous spirit of the forest," he called out formally. If was indeed spirits they were dealing with, it was best to be polite. And humble. "As my ally has explained, we are indeed lost. We have no gifts to offer to you, but if you would, please show us the way through."
And all the time, the rationality at the back of his mind chided him for being a ridiculous fool.

"That creature was YOURS?!" Kynum fumed, "Surely you could have picked something a little less dangerous like a...," Kynum's hand rolled about in the air in search of the word he wanted, "fluffy bunny or something!". Kynum suddenly thought of what he just said and remembered stories of seemingly cute little bunnies with huge teeth that needed to be vanquished by a holy hand grenade..."On second thought, I apologize. At least you chose something that actually looked as dangerous as it was." Kynum looked to Shin and said, "We're not lost, I know exactly where we're going... I think..." After a few moments he looked to the new halfbreed arrival. "Good friend!," (Kynum was trying to be really friendly now), "Would you deign to accompany us to our destination so that we may get there in a reasonable amount of time?"

Ailis couldn't help but laugh, partly at Kayne and the other part at Kynum. She answered Kayne first. "Sorry, ah...traveler...but I'm no forest spirit. I do, though, know this forest particularly well. I'm a halfbreed." She twitched her ears and swished her tail around into veiw, showing off the shimmering amber fur that was every part of her honor. "And, he's not really mine. My relationship with Sinion is...complicated. I'm about the only one I know that he hasn't eaten yet...well there's you of course. But I'm off-track, now, and to answer the previous question, I will accompany you if that is what you wish." She reached upward to the trees, which once again stretched down thier vines to hoist her onto a higher, yet still visible branch. "Got nothin' else to do anyway." She added with a shrug and a smile.

Kynum watched as the trees helped the halfbreed onto a branch "Oooooo...neat trick. Let me try!" Kynum threw a hand upward and waited for vines to come and whisk him away, but nothing happened sweatdrop . "So anyway," Kynum quickly retracted his hand so as not to seem foolish, "Let us venture onward to Almalexia! Which is...that way...probably." Kynum pointed in a relative North Westerly direction. "We make camp when dusk rolls around and continue and arrive sometime in the morning."

Kayne's eyebrows rose sharply as he regarded the . . . well, he couldn't find a better word other than that which the girl had given herself . . . half-breed's tail. A faint smile was already tracing his lips as she whisked herself up into the trees.
"Thank you kindly, miss," he said. He gave Kynum a skeptical look. "Sir, I'd rather I know the correct direction instead of making assumptions and result in getting ridiculously lost."
Truth be told, he had felt some nagging sensation for some time now, perhaps not long after entering the forest. As if some spirit had, while he was unaware, tied unseen strings upon his being and was now pulling at said threads, urging him to go somewhere . . .
Ridiculous. Where would I possibly want to go, other than to a civilized settlement with hot food and a warm bed? And of course, did the other beta-testers feel the same way? He looked over to Kira and Shin.
"So, shall we be going, then?" he asked cheerfully.

Ailis didn't try to supress the laugh when he reached for the vines, which, needless to say, stayed put. "Well then, ye're knowing the way?" She asked Kayne, as he spoke with a sense of direction. He mgiht or he might not, Ailis knew not. So she swung round and round a tree branch while she waited for the answer.

"Oh come on, people, it's not like you have anywhere else to go or anyone else to trust the directions with. Unless, of course, you know the way to Almalexia,...Ailish was it?"
