With a tilt of her head, she raised both of her eyebrows. "That's true, it does seem very interesting." It occurred to her that the schools seemed very rigidly divided; true, the course loads provided time for the children to socialize, but. There didn't seem to be much of an effort to coordinate both schools. "You didn't much like my answer," Siona observed, crossing her arms. "Tell me, when you're in the Magic school, how often will you see students from the other division?"

This was definately not like his homeland. This youth had an odd air about him, though he couldn't really pinpoint it. If this student was willing to work hard then Vigharthur had no reason to care for the oddities this child would have upon him.

His eyes landed on the newest addition to the conversation. He gave him a once over. This one wasn't quite like the other bootlickers and the Icelandic man couldn't help but feel an appreciation for this.

He was about to start speaking when he witnessed the change of expression on the student's face. Again, he glanced at the other prospective tutor. Oh. Vigharthur had heard that those ears were a distinctive trait of a demon but he had not seen them before until now. Curiosity began to build up inside him. He knew that Shinkami was not like other schools but he now wondered just how unlike them it was.

Vigharthur stayed quiet for a moment, sorting through his thoughts only to tune in when they began to speak about magic. He did not like magic. He had been raised against it. It was weak. It was an unfair advantage. It just...it got on his nerves! "Still, the strength you have yourself is the determining factor in any battle."

((The quote system is broken for whatever reason right now; I'm just reposting this so folk reading along know what I'm replying to. 83))

"Oh... wow... duh..." Truth be told it was a little bit of courtesy and a little bit of obliviousness, but Quentin knew if he looked down he would probably never look back up and that wasn't really socially acceptable, unfortunately. He was quite disquieted to see his nerves getting the best of him over something so trivial as an introduction or even a smooth conversation, but he had to admit it had been awhile since he had talk with anyone that didn't include weekly reports. "It would seem I am not making the greatest first impression..." Grinning like a fool, Mr. Bandersnatch shook his head pathetically.

"Oh how marvelous..." The demon remarked genuinely. Admittedly, he was surprised to see a woman as the offensive secretary at the school, but after their brief introduction she was quite the spitfire. She could probably beat him up, well if he wasn't a demon.... Even then she might. "Ehh well..." Quentin's laugh was like the purr a deep drum. "I am afraid I do sparkle, but I do not intend to be a stranger around student and teacher alike..."

------------------

"Don't worry. If you do sparkle, it'll be out of my vicinity, so you're free to do that all you please." Alex smiled a little more, amused that a man - a prospective teacher, no less - would joke that he sparkled.

Then again, maybe he wasn't joking.

She chuckled quietly, rolling her shoulders in a shrug. It wasn't her business how sparkly he was or was not, not unless he was hired. "Magic, huh," she said out loud, thoughtful. "Not many humans can do that. Or am I mistaken?" Alex asked the question as sweetly as possible, managing to keep her rabid curiosity to a low simmer. No need to hide anything, right?

Not unless the person you were talking to was racist. Unfortunately for all the non-humans in the room, Alex was unwittingly just that.

Quentin tipped his head thoughtfully, watching Alex with his feral green eyes. "It is a talent like all others. Some are talented in drawing, painting and some work hard and struggle to become talented. Some people are quick and strong and some have to train and grow to become quick and strong. And some people just cannot persevere no matter their effort. Magic is no different though it is... rarer," His dark stern face warmed with a smile, shifting his weight to the left and brushing a loitering tendril away from his eyes. "But I am sure there are plenty of talented children to instruct..."

"I suppose as often as we have gatherings or events. There are some shared classes too between Magic and Science students, so it's not like I'll never see half these people again. The reality of it all will be if I go into the classrooms instead of doing the lessons from somewhere else, like my own room."

Which was how Micajah did most of his studying anyway. It was easier for him, he had a better pace, and he didn't need to have others around him to question his motives or his way of learning. It also gave him time to do things on his own while studying, things he couldn't normally do in a classroom without disrupting someone.

"Is there anything else you want to know from me?"

His throat was starting to hurt again, a dull scratch that made the hoarse nature of it even more severe. He should have brought note cards or a white board to write on.

Oh great. Another bush beater, just what she didn't need. Alex sighed before giving another quiet, tight smile. "Of course," she said with disinterest, turning her green eyes over the students mindfully. She was trying to be civil at the least, since some of the kids she was particuarly fond of - like Farlest, and Sasha - would be in the care of one of these people.

Bah. She should just drag them all into Science and be done with it!

Her shoulders shrugged, arching a brow at the man. "Perhaps you should seek some of those young men out. I'm definitely not the one you need to impress, Quentin." Another amused smile curved her lips; if that were the case, the school would be decidedly smaller.

His phrasing was very interesting, she decided. The reality of it all will be if I go into the classrooms... "The reality of all, what?" As soon as she said it, she felt a little stupid. Honestly, the poor boy was struggling enough as it was. She could already hear a hoarser note entering his voice.

Why were there so many solitary children at this school, anyway?...

"Of course..." The old demon agreed politely, resting a dark hand across his chest and bowed ever so slightly. "Well, it was very nice meeting you, Alex...." With one last smile, Quentin took their cups and turned, his eyebrows drawing up. That woman had some serious fury in her, and quite honestly, he was perfectly terrified of the little woman.

He looked to the throng of adults and children, very curiously intent on one such student that shot through the crowd, apparently on a mission. Probably to get away from everyone. He was very small with unusual dark purple hair. And looked as if he believed everyone was out to eat him. Oh that couldn't be a magic student right? What happened to the days of strength and terror, mere mortals quaking with fear under the awesome power of earth-shattering magic?! Rawr rawr and such? Quentin sighed, pulling on his ponytail out of deniable habit.

"I'm not really sure what I mean right now by anything, my head's kinda fuzzy from trying to recover from the Halloween party we held. You'll have to pardon my behavior."

Micajah regained his composure and politeness after a moment, having realized that ever since he stepped foot into the room his had been nothing but combative in his words and perhaps even his posture. Not a good thing for someone in his position.

"Well now."

NoƩ had finally moved away from where he had been standing after bumping rather unceremoniously into Ka, his mind still set on meeting all the people he could, but after a few moments of just standing and waiting her grew bored with the outcome. His mother had always told him that people wouldn't come to him - he had to go to people and make himself known that way. It worked out more often than not, and today seemed like a good chance to keep her wisdom in mind.

So he started to move and wandered over towards a woman who looked like she probably spit fire when she spoke, a judgment he passed based on the expressions he'd seen on her face as he was walking over and she was talking to another man, and he figured chatting her up might be fun.

"Bom dia, Senhora. May I trouble you for some conversation?"
