"Y-Ye-Y-Yes." She squeaked in response, helplessly looking up at him, his quick realization bringing a more pronounced blush to her cheeks. She tried explaining, but ended up stuttering so bad that she immediately gave up.
And while she knew he wouldn't be mad at her for doing this....sneaking away to do it was another matter entirely...at least to her. So she waited, ears flicking nervously as he gently held her chin up, caressing her face with his other paw.

Nev smiled at her. "As long as you were safe. That's whats important to me. That you were safe and careful." he said. He levered himself up and pulled her almost into his lap. "Just leave me a note or something when you leave and I'm asleep or something..." he said. "I'd freak if I couldn't find you, Ellie." he said shaking slightly. "And that wouldn't be a pretty sight." he finished burying his face in her hair.
He then smacked himself mentally back into shape and looked at her. He was about to open his mouth when his stomach gurgled. Nev closed his mouth and sighed. "Guess I should eat something." he said with a chuckle.

Ellie nodded, blushing as he pulled her in closer, nearly onto his lap. She frowned at the waver in his voice and whimpered, curling her arms around him as far as she could reach to hold him. She'd know better next time...she didn't want him to lose his mind if she needed to go out.
When he pulled back, she looked up to him, eyes somewhat pained...before her ears flicked at the sound of his complaining stomach, a smile coming unbidden to her lips. "Mhm. ...c-can...I h-help?"

Nev smiled at her. "Sure." he said untangling himself from her and hopping off the bed. He thought for a few minutes before making a decision. "I'm in the mood for a burger...I think I have hamburger thawed...with swiss cheese and mushrooms..." he mused to himself. "Got potatoes too...cut them up thin and let them crisp in some hot oil." he said more to himself than to her.
He finally seemed to remember her and looked over at her. "Sorry..." he said slightly embarrassed. "Used to being alone...working on it though." he said offering her a hand off the bed.

Ellie slowly crept towards the edge of the bed after him, ears quirked to catch his murmurs, blinking rapidly...only to blink somewhat owlishly at him when he turned back to her. She gave him a slight smile, reaching for him at his silent offer to help her off the bed.
"It's okay, Lee." She murmured. "It might...take a little bit of time...but it'll be okay."
She gently nuzzled against him with a faint blush before wriggling from his arms to go to the kitchen, his words echoing in her mind. ...hamburger thawed...swiss cheese and mushrooms...slice potatoes up thinly and let them crisp in hot oil...' Her ears flicked as she brought out the mushrooms, cheese, and hamburger before she rummaged around, looking for the potatoes, biting her lip and closing the fridge when she found they weren't in there.

Nev followed a few steps behind Ellie a bit surprised when she'd darted to the kitchen. He watched her pull out all the things he needed before getting stuck. He figured it was the potatoes. "Bottom drawer on the right. In the right hamper. The other one is the onions." he said. "I don't like to keep potatoes and white onions in the fridge..." he said.
He then moved to the spice cabinet and pulled out the things he needed before pulling out two frying pans. He set both on the oven and turned them both on, adding olive oil to one and spritzing the other with some non-stick cooking spray. He then left them to heat while he moved back to the counter and started slicing up the mushrooms.

It was like a small set of orders, in a way, what Neve wanted to do with his food. Something that made Ellie feel comfortable, so much so that she barely blinked as she was directed to the right place, merely following the directive and withdrawing an onion and a few potatoes from the bottom right drawer. Hopping up lightly, she washed and rubbed the potatoes clean, leaving the skin on before slicing them thinly, working on the onion next before gently adding the potato slices and onion once the oil was hot enough.
Flicking her tail, she turned to watch Neve, keeping her eyes on the potatoes, blinking lightly. She didn't know if he wanted to add anything to them...or just let them cook like that.

"Throw a little sea salt in with that, will ya please?" he called over his shoulder. Nev finished slicing the mushrooms and then threw them into the second pan. He tossed them around for a few minutes before moving back to the hamburger and making a nice sized patty and throwing it in as well with a dash of the spices he'd nabbed from the cabinet. He watched both pans cook and occasionally tossed the one with the potatoes around letting them cook evenly.
"Grab a bun from the fridge and pop it in the toaster please." he said flipping the burger over. He then stood back from the stove and stretched out and winced slightly as his back pulled in several places. "Damn..." he muttered to himself.

Ellie nodded, grabbing the small jar of said sea salt and sprinkling a bit over the potatoes and onions before setting it back, closed, upon the counter. She waited, tail flicking, as she watched Neve work, ears swivelling lightly. Soon enough, he asked her to grab a bun, and she was only too happy to comply, quickly opening the fridge to grab a bun, twisting the end of the bag back into a knot afterwards and separating the two halves before putting them into the toaster and pressing the lever down.
Her ears twitched and she turned back to Neve, slipping forwards to put a paw gently on his back. "Lee..?"
It was natural; her partner came first...and any discomfort was normally alleviated by her...when possible. However, being that she wasn't in his mind...she couldn't very well diagnose the problem.

Nev lowered his arms back down to his side. "Back's all knotted up." he said. "Its all stress and related to the way I sleep." he said. "I have a heating pad somewhere that I'll put on it after w--I eat and we settle down for the evening." he said. "Nothing to worry about." he said turning to wrap his arms around her. "Promise." he said flicking his tail idly back and forth across the floor, his blue eyes soft. "You're lovely." he said in a whisper leaning in slightly and then stopping letting her make the decision if she wanted to kiss him or not.

Ellie frowned, but nodded slowly. She didn't like it when he wasn't comfortable, and resolved to do something about it later. She twitched her tail before flicking it around him somewhat, tilting her chin up to look at him with slightly wide eyes, a blush creeping over her cheeks.
...after a few moments, and more hesitation, she leaned up and set her lips lightly against his in a soft kiss, pulling away a few moments later with a brighter blush, lightly shuffling her forepaws and fiddling with the dress.

Nev closed his eyes at the light contact of her lips against his. All the cares that had mounted up drifted further from his mind as he kissed her. He smiled at her as she pulled away, cheeks looking close to that of a cherry tomato. He brushed a loose strand of hair away from her face and then turned back to the stove flipping burger again. He then reached over and nabbed the slices of cheese laying them across the meat before tossing the potatoes again. "Plate please?" he asked her.

Ellie ducked her head a little after he'd turned away, only perking up as he asked for a plate. Bouncing lightly, she retrieved it and set it on the counter near the stove, grabbing the buns as they'd popped, setting them on the plate, then lightly blowing on her paws. They'd been hotter than she thought they'd be, but no harm done. Setting them back on the floor, she sat back and watched as he worked, going over some options mentally.

Nev checked everything one last time before extracting the burger from the pan and sliding it onto the bun. He then piled the mushrooms on top before putting the pan into the sink for him to wash later. He then turned and grabbed the second pan and slid the potatoes and onions onto the plate. He put that pan in the sink as well and then checked to make sure the stove was off before retrieving the plate and moving over to the table.
He sat down and took a bite before looking back at Ellie and smiling. "Good team effort." he said before turning back to the food and polishing it off.

Ellie watched him plate the food, tail swaying lightly from side to side. There wasn't really much of anything for her to do at the moment, but that was fine. She scooted her way onto another chair, smiling faintly at the compliment, patiently watching him eat. Hopping down from the chair, she snagged his plate as he finished off the last of his food and slid it into the sink, adding a touch of soap before turning the tap on after putting the plug into place to let it fill with warm soapy water, cautiously turning it off afterwards and turning back to Neve...shyly gesturing to the couch.
"Come...sit..?" She murmured, trotting over and hopping up.
