((Gee, thanks for waiting, xp ))

Gabriel sat in a chair next to Shae and well away from the rest of the group. He listened intently when the man began to speak. Once the man was finished, he grinned and raised his hand to grab the man's attention, "Yeah, are there any particular guidelines to how you want this done?" he asked, standing and moving forward towards the table. He lowered his hand onto the paper the man had slid towards them and took it in his hand.

((Sorry. Venom was double-posting. He was clearly impatient. Blame him, not me.))

"Kill the target, don't get killed, don't blow up anything you don't need to?" the man suggested cheerfully. "Oh, and don't fall in the sewer. It takes weeks to get the smell out of your clothes, and months to eliminate it entirely from your hair."

"How do you define not needing to blow something up?" Cado asked, his fingers forming a steeple. "Car bombs? Collapsing his house? Ding-dong-claymore?"

Shae sighed inwardly, but it appeared he would have to speak. These guys weren't being serious. At least Gabriel made an attempt at a good question.
"Why are we killing this man?" Shae asked softly.

Cado frowned. "I was hoping to guess at that from what we are and aren't allowed to do, but since you're going to state it outright... sure, why are we killing him? Not that we have anything like a choice in what missions to take, considering our, ah, killswitches, but it'd be nice to know."

Amelie sat and listened for the briefing to be finished. They would be going after some sort of reporter man who apparently needed to be killed. It was fine with her, she never questioned the motives of her superiors. It would only get her into trouble that she didn't need.

"Alright then....John Daley...reporter....blond hair grey eyes...alright then. Should this be done quietly or should we put on a show just for the hell of it?" Either one was fine wit her, a stealthy kill would be more fun though just because they had to take more precautions and that it would most likely be more dangerous. She liked danger and anything that had to do with the word in general.

"So...we're all mates then huh? Mes amis?" Amelie liked to add in random bits of French when she had the chance.

Shae smiled slightly. "Mates? I think not. But I will work with you, and you won't get worse than my best." He looked to the man behind the desk, waiting for an answer.

Gabriel sighed and looked around at everybody, "Look, if we're gonna do this, we're gonna do this right, we're not friends, we're associates." He turned his gaze to Cado, "No blowing things up unless absolutely needed." he said before turning his gaze to Amelie, "And not everything can be taken care of from a distance, I should know, ou have to worry about bullet-proof glassing," he paused and looked to the man briefly, "Speaking of which, is there any?" he asked before looking back to Amelie and finishing his small speech, "Not being able to get a clear shot, distractions, etc."
He took a breath and turned once again to the man, taking his original spot next to Shae, "Alright, about the windows, are they bullet-proof? And are there any parties or occasions this man is taking part in? Does he have a daily routine? Any information available will make things move a great deal smoother." he said, already formulating a plan in his head.

"Now, now, I do expect you to operate as a team. The closer you get, the better," the man admonished. "You're assassinating him because he's bad press. He doesn't like us, he's publishing articles, he's being a nuisance. I want this quiet. They should find him dead, and at least not be able to say 'hm, look at these five-thousand, two hundred and eighty-nine bullet holes around his body fired from the five men carrying Bullfrog weapons wearing Bullfrog insignia driving a Bullfrog car coming from the general direction of the Bullfrog syndicate'. If you get spotted, no big deal. If you get into a big firefight, no big deal.

"Agent Long, you only blow something up if something either has Daley in it or if something must be blown up in order to preserve your own life or the life of your compatriots. Also, if you've forgotten, the killswitches have been deactivated. If you want to leave, you stand up, you leave. Make no mistakes about that.

"Yama, I don't know. I honestly don't know. I've given you an address and that's all you get. He doesn't expect an assassination; this much we know. What we don't know is if there's agent activity within the city, we don't know if the police are watching, we just don't know. Routine? Don't know. He changes it up. Works various shifts, appears on television occasionally. In fact, if you watch the news long enough, you'll see him. Don't watch the news, though, they're all liars.

"No parties that we know of. His birthday was two months ago, so you missed that. And it's way too early for Christmas or Thanksgiving or Halloween. So you'll probably just have to ask his wife where he is. Pretend to be GM, you'll probably get better cooperation that way."

"I'm going to be perfectly honest..." Cado Long declared with a sigh. "I'm sure the killswitches are deactivated now. I'm equally sure that if I went on some sort of rocket rampage downtown, mine would suddenly be reactivated and nobody would question it too closely anyway. That's what they're for. From what I've read - that I've been allowed to read - they're integrated into the basic operations of most of our augmentations." He shifted in place and smiled faintly. "When you get down to it, though, I don't especially mind that. That aside, you say I can blow things up if Daley is in them, correct?"

Shae ignored Cado as he said, "GM? Why, is this guy close with them?" He clenched a fist. He tried not to play favorites too much, but he definitely didn't like GM.
"Either way, I'd best be the one to do it. I'm pretty good at the whole 'disguising' thing."

"Agent Long, if you wish to test that theory, we will have your fellow agents eliminate you." The man's voice was suddenly much colder, much harder. "Your trust in your superiors, while not expected to be great, would be more beneficial to you if higher. I want to be your friend, but if you won't let me, then I won't be." The voice cleared up - well, as far as it could; it still shook oddly. "And yes. If Daley is inside, you can blow it up. Preferably without collateral damage or other casualties, other than potential resistance. I wasn't particularly clear there - feel free to engage any resistance with whatever methods you feel necessary. I don't want to lose any of you, and if that means sacrificing a few civilians, that's acceptable.

"Yes, Shae, Daley has links with GM. We're not massively clear on precisely what they are, but they exist, and they're a worry. You can probably imagine, then, why we're getting the bad press. LM is getting it just as bad, too, and they've been working on their own effort to take him down. Plans fell through, though; they lost the agent they had for the assassination. Pretty expensive loss, it'll take them a while to recover, so we're going to do it for them."

Alyx, who had been quiet, tilted her head to the side slightly. "Sir... you want to be our friend, but you haven't told us your name."

"Oh. I haven't," the man said, sounding slightly chagrined. "My name is Hades."

"I'm just saying, sir," Cado replied, notably changing his form of address, "Just because I think I still have a killswitch doesn't mean I'm not loyal, or that I'm not going to trust you. I am. But that point being insignificant either way, I'd rather not detonate his home; I think that would bring undue difficulty to his surviving family and they'll be going through enough already. Also, I'm thinking a good way to get close to him would to claim to be GM agents there to protect him from a Lockheed assassin...."
PostPosted: Mon Oct 13, 2008 10:24 pm

"Agent Long, you're crazy. And I have proof, too," Hades added cheerfully. He didn't go on. "You're quite correct; blowing up a house isn't what I had in mind. If you need to blow up a car, have at thee, but try to keep it small-scale and direct. Your idea has great merit as well. GM has enough agents and small enough identification systems that you'll be able to pose on that one well. Go through with it."

((Wow. I played through this particular scenario in another iteration of this RP, and no one came up with that idea.

Oh yeah, and guys, whaddya want to research? Votes?))

((You know that idea is smexy. biggrin

If I'm not researching some form of rockets, something is terribly wrong.))

"If you have proof... well, that's irrelevant right now anyway. So, that sewer raft. Is it going to be kind of conspicuous for us to approach smelling like the whole city's waste products? Or, hell, we could bullshit that too - say we had to approach sneaky-style so LM wouldn't know GM's agents were on, ah, our way so they wouldn't deploy additional forces."
