It seems a lot of people want a "Stories" section in the guild. Sounds like fun. =D

I think a stories sub-forum is a good idea. It would be fun to see everyone's stories that they have written. Even seeing a bit of fanfiction would be fun too! I've always wanted to show off my work on Gaia.
I also love the idea of a Seasonal Events sub-forum. And for the Halloween idea, I like the thought of a costume contest, both here on Gaia and in real life. Maybe we could even do a decorating contest? Like here where I live, we decorate our house for pretty much every holiday we celebrate(my step-mom is a nut, we even end up repainting rooms to go along with the season!) So that was just a thought that popped into my head, 'cause I don't know if everyone else decorates their homes as well. ^.^

I like the stories idea. What would we call it, and where would we put it?
I'm not sure about a decorating contest. A lot of our members are either in dorms, parent's houses, or some other place where they wouldn't be able to participate. Perhaps we could just include a spot where people could put pics of their decorating, or their irl costumes, etc to share?

Well, the Stories thing could be a sub-forum. And for a name, I was thinking, since the guild is "Roleplaying Gems," the place for stories could be called "The Treasure Chest."

I almost think we shouldn't make it a subforum until it actually has quite a few stories to put into. I mean, until we've got a decent handful of content, it would just be an emtpy forum ; ;
I also think we should work on the Seasonal subforum first. Perhaps we could just create a sticky in one of the other subforums (( ooc or randomosity )) for people to start posting stories at for now. Then when the thread starts to bulk up, we make the subforum and separate the stories out into genres?

Sure. It'd probably work a little cleaner that way as well. But, should we have people just post little snippets of their stories, that way we don't have mile long posts?
Edit: It would probably belong in the Randomosity forum.

*shrugs* I don't mind the mile high posts. The more impressive the stories, the higher the chances the thread could be pulled apart and broken into a subforum with multiple threads.

*nodsnods* True True. I do love reading a good story. If the thread was popular enough and was made into a sub forum, we could even have constructive criticism stuff and what not. It could be a place for people to improve their stories and become better writers.

We could have a link set up in the main story subforum that directs them to a Mentoring subforum link to do that stuff biggrin

I don't think so. The Mentoring forum I don't think will have as much immediate traffic as the Seasonal, and quite frankly we -need- to get the Seasonal up before school gets crazy, or we'll miss the season >.< One is much more time sensitive than the other.

Why can't we do both Stories and the Seasonal at the same time? I've never ran a guild like this, but couldn't you just put a "Post your stories here" type of intro paragraph, then put the rules for what content is and is not allowed in the stories, and then let people go nuts. Then you could turn to the harder to set up thread with the Seasonal one

Okey dokey, so I'm just throwing this idea out here: what if we did photo scavenger hunts?
Example: We give people a thing to take a picture of, like a stop sign. And they have to go out with some sort of object to take with them and place in the picture to prove it's them (say I have a stuffed monkey) which would be placed on the stop sign and I would take a picture of it, put it on the computer and post it on here.
I dunno. It was just a random idea I had while on a work scavenger hunt.
