Elnara finished putting her clothes away and left her bag at the side of the bed and looked around to make sure she had finished what she wanted to get done. She nodded to herself, satisfied that the biggest part of it was out of the way, and then she smiled at Lore.

"Shall we go see Ulani and Ulrich?" she asked him. "Or did you want to see Adonai and Shael on the way?"

Actually he had to think about that, on one sense he would have liked to see Ulani and Ulrich because he had a feeling they had a large reponsible part in the house. On the other sense he wanted to see how Shael and Adonai were doing since it had been so long.

"Hmm... let's see Adonai and Shael on the way," Lore suggested.

Elnara's eyes lit up, and she nodded eagerly. "Come on," she giggled, taking Lore's hand and leading him back towards the door. "We should try to catch them before they start their lunch so that we don't interrupt them," she commented, opening the door and stepping outside. "It's almost ... strange, how for once we arrived here at about the same time of day as we left home."

"The timing was perfect," Lore chuckled, "That isn't very often."

Stepping outside, he noted the sun's position. It was a good thing too, then it won't be hard adjusting for their first day. Walking along side Elnara towards the house.

"Actually," Elnara mused with an amused grin, "I don't think that's ever happened before ..."

When they reached the house, Elnara raised one hand to knock on the door. Then she stood back and waited, smiling softly at Lore.

It was only a few short moments before the door opened and Adonai appeared. He looked as well as he ever had, tanned perhaps a bit darker than usual from time in the sun, but he was wearing his long black robes and had a book in one hand.

"Lore and Elnara," he exclaimed, a grin spreading across his face. "Well, it's about time! We've been waiting for you for weeks!"

He chuckled and opened the door wider, stepping to one side. "Come in, come in," he invited them. "It's so good to see you! Congratulations! Have you seen your accommodations yet?"

Lore smiled in return, he hoped they weren't kept waiting too long then.

"Yes, yes we have. It is amazing," Lore admitted.

He stepped inside holding onto Elnara's hand. Lore tried to recall if they had been in the couple's house before.

"And how have you and Shael been doing?"

Elnara followed Lore inside and looked around. The last time they had been to the Borderlands, she had met her father again ... the house had been completed, but only just barely, and they hadn't taken the time to visit then. It was interesting to compare the house to the others that she knew of ... in truth, the first room was reminding her of a library: three of the four walls were bookshelves from ceiling to floor, and filled with books.

Adonai's expression brightened, and he motioned for the couple to follow him.

"Come on," he grinned. "Come see - Shael! Lore and Elnara are here!" he called down a short corridor that led out of the first room. "Come down and see them!"

He turned back to Lore and Elnara, his eyes sparkling brightly. "Will you be staying for lunch?" he asked them eagerly. "You're more than welcome to, you know that right?"

Lore's eyes drifted to the books for a moment as Adonai had turned to call Shael down, but turned back to Adonai quickly. Old habits died hard, especially ones dealing with books he found personally speaking.

"That would be wonderful," Lore replied, "And of once the time we arrived is close to the time we left."

Otherwise they might not have been able to, wtihout not eating a lot which would have been a bit akward.

Elnara caught Lore's quick glance over the books, and she could barely hold back a giggle. Adonai did indeed have much in common with him ... she had a feeling that the two men would be spending a bit of time together over the course of the next year.

"Thank you very much for the invitation," she added to Lore's comment, smiling warmly at her distant cousin.

"Oh, posh, nothing at all," Adonai grinned at the two of them as shuffling sounds could be heard from down the hall. "Honestly, it's been forever since anyone's seen you around here, and it's a special occasion! It would be beastly to send you off without feeding you first. Besides, if you've only just arrived today I'm willing to bet that you haven't figured out that kitchen of yours yet. I don't know where Nana hid everything but it's damned impossible to find what you're looking for in there!"

"That's because you don't bother looking everywhere," Shael's soft voice came from the hall only a short moment before she herself appeared in the room. She was smiling warmly, her hair pulled back and braided for quite possibly the first time ever (since she almost always left it down), and in her arms she was carrying a tiny infant.

"Welcome back, Lore, Elnara," she welcomed them softly, limping forward to greet them properly. "We've been looking forward to your visit."

"It is good to be back," Lore replied warmly.

He had to chuckle at Adonai's comments on the kitchen, well he would assume that was true as well. Since he wasn't much of a cook, he wasn't going to deny it was better to have lunch with them.

Lore's eyes lit upon the infant, "And who is this?"
PostPosted: Fri Sep 12, 2008 3:24 pm

Shael's hazel eyes lit up proudly as she adjusted the infant in her arms so that the others could see more clearly.

"This is Rhea," she said softly, her voice warm and filled with tenderness. "She's three weeks old today."

The tiny infant was fast asleep in her mother's arms, eyes shut tightly, mouth pursed as if sucking on her own tongue. Her tiny fists were clenched, one on her chest, and one on her cheek. Her ears, though pointed, were tiny, little bigger than a human infant's ear.

Elnara sucked in her breath sharply and her hand tightened on Lore's, her eyes filling with adoration.

"She's beautiful," she breathed, her eyes flickering up towards Shael and Adonai. "You must be so proud ... can I hold her?"

She felt a girlish excitement come over her as she gazed once more at the sleeping infant.
