Nathan shrugged. "I can understand that. I really don't like most of it, either, and I can't stand the stuff where people just scream into the mike. It's generally safer to stick with alternative stuff. Metallica just has this way of combining the heavy stuff with really lyrical parts. I'd worry about going over your head with this stuff, but everything I've seen so far suggests that that would be really, really stupid of me, so I'm just going to assume you understand what I mean," he added, the sound of a smile obvious in his voice.

((Okay. Can we just assume they keep searching the room? I have an essay, soooo... Lazui, let us know if we find something. Otherwise... Essay time. crying ))

Steven nodded. "Ya, I understand what you mean. And that kind of stuff is called screamo by the way, when everything the 'singer' does is scream." he pointed out smartly. Steven then sighed. "This is getting boring.' he whispered.

Feeling Patrick's strong arm around her waist, Vera's face flushed a deep red. She had rarely come in such close contact with a man. But soon, she could feel her feet touching solid ground again.

She cried out in joy in her heart. At last! She could now move out from the spotlight, the others' stares were starting to make her feel really uncomfortable. Hearing Patrick's question, Vera looked up into his face, and replied with a soft smile, "Thank you very much, I can walk." Slipping out of Patrick's hold, she turned away from the doors and walked towards the piano bench, the only chair she could see in this room.

Sitting on the bench, Vera noted how Patrick's voice had been very kind and gentle. A gentleman indeed, she smiled. But remembering her shoulder, the smile faded. The shoulder was hurting way too much, a broken bone...? Vera rolled up her right sleeve, and touched the shoulder carefully and lightly with her fingertips. The bones seemed fine, no fracture. but she could see a big dark red spot covering her shoulder, it was turning to a shade of purple, and seemed to be increasing in size. She made a face, this would turn really ugly for the next few weeks.

"Phone's screwy. Sorry."

Michelle's eyes were fixed on the phone time. Thirteen oh-six. Her mind commenced with the checklist again. Since there's no signal, the phone's clock could be off. Or!

She quickly followed the man towards the double doors where a girl had fallen, presumably the source of the loud bang. Again, ignoring anything else happening, she tapped him on the shoulder.

"Uhm, excuse me again. Could that be... could your phone be on military time? 13:06 would be 1:06 PM, in that case," she asked, her heart sinking as she said the standard time. Six minutes. Only six minutes, she could still make it.

Patrick nodded toward Vera, giving a soft grunt in response. Standing to his full height again, he slid his hands into his pockets and watched the others move about, glancing worriedly toward Vera as she checked her shoulder. When tapped on the shoulder, he swiftly pivoted on his heel to face Michelle. His eyebrows shot upward as he tilted his head to the right slightly, shaking his head after a moment. "I don't believe so. I think it's just a glitch." To make sure, he pulled out his phone again and flipped through to the settings, seeing that it was set to '----'. An eyebrow rose in curiousity. "Well. I ain't never seen that before."

((@ LunaZol & cute_llama_pie: I see. Ah, but to help me out, please post which direction your character goes in OOC (N, S, E, W, NE, etc...). For now I'll just assume you guys are near the NE corner of the middle section of the basement since that would be the wall nearest to the stairs.))

((Heh heh heh, I see people are concerned with the time already. wink So if you want to know something about it, why not explore the mansion and look for a clock? Hint. Hint. And that reminds me...))

Codi watched curiously as the girl tried to stand. It took Patrick's help, however, which made her wonder: just how badly was she hurt?
Codi realized that she probably should've been doing something else more useful, but then again, perhaps she could actually be of use. Codi walked with a slightly cautious air over to the girl, popping open her new can of soda on the way. The tall, citadel-like ceiling created the perfect echo. Slightly amused, Codi forgot about her task and began tapping her foot against the ground. Tap, tap, tap...
"What are you doing?" snapped Muse, though she sounded a little bored—Codi would not have been surprised if this was the case, "Get over there! You can have fun with the acoustics later."
"Right, right..." Codi muttered hurriedly, shuffling through the dust toward the piano bench. The girl already appeared to be inspecting the damage; when Codi saw for herself, she realized just how serious this could turn out to be.
"Ohh, that doesn't look so hot," she cringed, biting her lip, "Alright...I can help."

I've mentioned Clay several times now, haven't I?
Clay is a doctor. Or rather, he's a doctor in training. Clay is also one of Codi's very good friends back home—through means far too complicated (not to mention unnecessary) to describe at this moment—and thusly, from watching with his studies, Codi has learned much about the nursing profession.
This does not mean that she remembers all of it. But that's where Muse comes in.
Codi scooted in beside the girl, gently lifting her shirtsleeve away from her bruised shoulder. She looked it over. It certainly didn't look broken, although there was a chance that it was only a fracture and produced no disfigurements, but the amount of bruising suggested something more serious.
Muse had disappeared to the back of Codi's subconscious. When she returned, she had a list, which Codi vocalized to anyone who may have been listening.
"Okay. I need a cloth, preferably square or triangular, or a jacket if we can't find one, ice, gauze or bandages would be nice, uhm..."
She paused.
"Well we don't know if it's broken or dislocated, do we?"
"Oh!" Codi snapped back to attention in the real world, "I'm assuming this happened when you hit the door, right? Did you hear a crack or a pop?"
She hoped her shoulder wasn't dislocated. That wouldn’t be so wonderful.

Patrick glanced downward, repeating Codi's list in his mind. All I got's a jacket. He pulled the sleeves down his arms, removing his jacket and holding it in his right hand. Walking forward toward the two, he held out the jacket while simultaneously scratching the back of his head with his left hand. "I got a jacket." Since his jacket was off, his bulky, muscular arms were visible. Not as easily seen were several scars strewn up and down his forearms and biceps, seeming to be deep cuts. One fairly fresh cut was on his right forearm.

Vera had just finished checking her shoulder, when Codi came and sat beside her on the bench. Offering help, Codi lifted her sleeve and examined the damage. Vera remembered Codi's face, the slightly pycho teenager she met earlier. She wouldn't get her hopes up high. Though feeling a teeny bit embarrassed, Vera was too polite to brush Codi's hand away, especially not when the girl was so absorbed. Well, curiosity IS one of the most prominent elements in human's nature, Vera smiled faintly, watching the girl sinking deeper into her thoughts.

After a minute or so of silence, Codi spoke, demanding a list of items that did seem to be commonly used in these situations. Ah, there might be more to this girl than met the eyes, afterall. "Yes, this bruise comes from the collision with the door. I don't remember hearing any crack or pop, but I can't be sure. Is ther any problem with my shoulder?" Vera's voice sounded a bit worried now.

Hmm. "Yes there is,” Muse replied mentally with a hint of sarcasm, to which Codi scowled and did her best to ignore her.
”I can’t be sure,” she instead vocalized, scratching her scalp, ”It could just be badly bruised.”
At this point Muse got tired of being pushed to the back, like she often did. She noticed Patrick offering the jacket and immediately leaped to the forefront of Codi’s subconscious. Her hazel eyes, already tinted green with the rush of energy, suddenly flushed with emerald. A grin crossed her face.
”Awesome,” Codi suddenly snatched the jacket out of Patrick’s hands with her free hand (the other was holding her soda, which she now took several large gulps of with frantic haste), ”Now go find ice. Chop chop, Tex!”
And Muse disappeared, her job complete. A look of horror slowly made its way across Codi’s visage.
”Well what are you stalling for?” Muse giggled manically, and Codi could almost see the voice’s eyes glimmer with mischief, ”You’re not done yet!”
Codi shook her head, smiling at the girl as if nothing had happened. ”Sorry,” she said politely, forcing herself to show some teeth, ”Uhm…right—can you move your arm at all? How badly does it hurt?”
”Hey now,” Muse replied smartly, ”Don’t pretend like I’m not here. Do you want my help or not?”
Codi’s face fell. She was right. Without Muse…”Yeah yeah,” Codi mumbled under her breath, ”I got it, alright? Besides, it’s not like you can leave.”
That was also true. A small spark made Codi wince as Muse registered this and frowned, anger flashing through her non-solid form. Yes…without Codi, Muse would not exist. That was certain.

Rose continued to watch the girl who had fallen, and noticed the girl who had tripped over her in the basement stepping up to offer some medical help to the girl on the floor. The girl looked far too young to know what she was doing... Rose also noticed that the girl seemed to hesitate occasionally, as if she was arguing with herself. Goodness knows that Rose had done that often enough, but not in situations like this. Not that Rose had been in many situations like this, but...
During this, she noticed a side conversation about what time of day it was. Rose considered this, and thought that it was a very legitimate concern. She glanced around for a clock, but there wasn't one to be seen in this room. Perhaps they should find one...

Patrick blinked and bursted into soft laughter, his right hand clutched at his stomach. I haven't been called Tex since like sixth grade! He found it quite amusing, really. Bringing his right hand to scratch at the back of his neck, he nodded with a mirthful half-smile worn. "I'll see if I can find some." And he did just that. Without another word, Patrick proceeded to walk around the room, starting from the left side, but found nothing that contained ice. He returned with a shrug, plainly stating that there was no ice in the room.

Vera noticed the girl beside her was starting to mutter to herself again. Hearing her question, Vera tried to lift her arm as directed by the girl, she grimaced, "I can only move the arm slightly, it is hurt quite badly." Vera heard Patrick's reply, and nodded mentally, there would hardly be ice in this room. Though they had not searched the house thoroughly, she didn't expect anyone to find any ice in a place where they were locked for unknown reasons.

Codi breathed a sigh of relief as Patrick walked off, his only reaction being a soft chuckle. Thank god. That could’ve turned out a lot worse.
”I know you’d like to blame me,” interrupted Muse in Codi’s train of thought, ”But it’s still your fault for not showing your feelings. I know he reminds you of Clay. And I know how you feel about Clay.”
”Yeah, like any other female on the face of the earth who’s met him…” Codi rolled her eyes, receiving a loud outburst of laughter from her mental parasite. She turned her attention to the girl as she tested her shoulder. Muse analyzed the results.
”Well…” Codi paused, processing this new information, ”It’s not a serious fracture, and since you can move your arm it’s probably not a dislocation, so…maybe a torn muscle? Or even a bad sprain. Either way, I guess we need to splint it.”
Codi realized about then that she had Patrick’s jacket in her lap. It was almost as if she had completely forgotten that she ever snatched it from him; picking it up by the collar with a single finger and thumb, Codi lifted the article of clothing above the level of her head and examined it with a curious expression. She continued her investigation for about half a minute before snapping back to reality, as if suddenly startled by absolutely nothing.
It may sound like I’m being ambiguous, but everything I just stated is exactly the way Codi thought it. She had totally forgotten about the jacket and, having discovered it, delicately held it in front of her and looked it over, to which point she was startled back into reality by nothing in particular.
This happens often. It causes Muse great amusement.
”Here,” Codi shrugged, tossing the coat into the girl’s lap awkwardly, ”Put this on. Make sure your injured arm is in a sleeve.”
She turned away and stared at nothing.
”Well? Aren’t you going to ask?”
”Fine,” Codi kneaded her temples and got to her feet, addressing Patrick, who was across the hall and had no ice, ”Are you sure you’re not Clay, and are you sure you’re not just playing some big trick on me like you normally do? Because if you say you are, I’ll totally believe you.”
She paused, suddenly realizing there was something different about him. Codi had to look very closely, squinting and leaning forward as she did. She soon realized that he wasn’t wearing his jacket.
Ah.
But there was something else slightly more distressing. Muse chortled sharply from within Codi’s mind as she processed this.
”…Also I think you’re bleeding?” Codi quipped, pointing at a fresh cut along Patrick’s arm.
