Savith sighed lightly and turned to regard Blaze, his age suddenly weighing in his moss-colored eyes as he lifted a hand from the water, shook droplets from his fingertips and reached out for his uniform as it flew toward him. **Friendship is not something I learned to do with any great skill,** he replied openly, with a soft melancholy send. **For there to be friendship there needs be trust, and Trust was never something I learned to give so readily. Perhaps, in time, there can be a friendship between us, but at the moment, I know no one here well enough to give so much of myself. For now, know that I am a creature of Duty, Service, and Obedience, and that I have no Lord to Serve. Therefore, seeing to the the needs of all those here, as survivors, is my only Duty, the only way I can Serve. If you feel that is sufficient for you to count on me, so be it. If you feel it is not, so be it. Until then, put your back wherever you feel most comfortable.**

Rising in a very unnatural fashion, as only one able to fly can do, Savith turned in midflight, just above the water's surface, pressed the water from himself with his mind as he floated from the pool and dressed as he mind his way in the direction of the waterfall.

Dancer made no move but sent her mind to his alone. *Not even me Savith? You don't trust me?* The question pressed with a longing to know. A growing sadness that pushed hard. Ready to burst forth at the wrong words from him. Her lip trembled slightly as she waited her eyes burning a hole in his back.

**How can I,** he questioned Dancer's mind privately in return as he continued on his way, gaining height as well as distance. Outwardly, he didn't slow, didn't flinch, didn't give any indication that he was sending at all.

Blaze's grin twisted into a frown, then a snarl. His mind crackled with the same vicious heat that had knocked Savith from the air when they first met, and he would have lashed out again if he hadn't seen the look on Dancer's face. Supressing his rage, he tried to reason out what Savith had said, about duty, and lords. It all boiled down to that Savith was not to be well-trusted or relied on, but not yet regarded as a threat. The thinking diverted his attention for the critical moment, but his mood was still ruined.

As so was the mood in Dancer dashed. Tears poured from angry eyes filled with hurt. How could he say that? He shared so much of himself with her she thought more was there. She wouldn't accept his responce. Not one bit. Again she sent to him alone unless shut out. *How can you say that? You give so much of yourself to me and say you cannot trust me? How is that even possiable?* As she sent she was pulling herself from the water. If it weren't for Dew Paw being there she would have followed after Savith naked or not. Instead she tried very hard to hold back full on sobbing as the young heart seemed to be pulled from her chest. Now the body tremled as she dressed. Her face like stone turned to Blaze. Her voice shuttered for a moment as she spoke. "I must go now. Please make sure Dew Paw gets back to the cove safely for me." Then she looked to Dew Paw, "I must go hear what he has to say. Savith can't just say that then up and fly away. Stay with Blaze till you get to the cove please. I'm sorry you had to be hear for that."

Blaze watched Dancer dress, and listened without protest or comment. He'd gotten what he wanted; Savith's answer. The stir that accompanied it might yield something good, or it might not. All he knew was that Dancer was badly shaken, and best left alone.

He glanced at Dew, then went back to thinking. When she wanted to leave, he'd follow, but for the moment he was about as sociable as a rock crab. The memory of the short welcoming conversation between him and Dew that went sour was still in his mind, and he deemed it best to not bother her.

Dewpaw had stayed quiet during the conversation, swimiing in circles adn underwater while trying to picture everyone singing and dancing. She settled that Dancer would look beautiful dancing, and maybe Blaze could play the pipes, but Savith didn't fit singing. She thought to herself where he would be, settling that maybe he could dance like a hawk in the sky. But before she could share this idea, the sending had been done and she could only stare at Savith as he left. She glanced at Dancer and Blaze, still silent and Dancer left. She didn't knwo what to say or do. She had thought everyone got a long a bit better than this. To her, Savith and Blaze seemed like two alpha males fighting for their rights. But they weren't fighting for the right to lead, as she was used to seeing. She had seen it happen in her old holt. The alpha wolf had been challenged by a younger male, and won. She looked around, trying to figure out who won, and what the prize was.

Dewpaw stopped swimming, staring now at Blaze, seeing as he was the only one left. She stared for a while, trying to figure everything out. **You're still sorry about something. What is it?** she sent, trying to sound her usual happy self despite her confusion and what she heard. She remembered him saying sorry before, but she didn't knwo what for. Was this it? she thought. Did he do this before?

Blaze was silent for a few moments, thinking, or deciding whether or not to open his mouth; it was a bit of both. **Remember the harsh send, on the first day? That was me. I hurt you, a child. By my standards, that was unacceptable in the highest manner.** The fact that she had forgotten so quickly interested him, it seemed a little quicker for her to forget than a normal elf of her age would.

What he said next came a little easier to his mind, in response to her confusion on his and Savith's animosity. **As for Savith and I, neither won. But Savith is not telling us everything. I think what would explain it best to you is that he is like a wild zwoot- I mean wolf, in that he means us no harm at the moment, but in the next moment he may whirl around and bite you. Do not be afraid, but keep that in mind.**

Dewpaw thought back to her first day in teh cove. She did remember a sned strong enough to make her head hurt. She shrugged, *We were all scare, right. No worries. No permanent damage done. At least, I don't think* the last bit had a joking tone to it. Dewpaw swam to teh edge of the pool and slid ot of it, easily picking herself up. She thought that Blaze wouldn't want to stay long just for her convinience, and she didn't want him to. **And, you adn Savvy aren't so different, I think. You may not be a wild wolf like him, but I'm pretty sure youre a bit more feral than Morningtail.* She shook her head, water droplets flying everywhere from her hair which was now a complete mess. "thanks for staying with me. And making the water warm."

Blaze grinned, in spite of himself. The quick forgiveness, the jokes, the frank honesty, and thanks for simple things. Kids. Hauling himself out of the water, he steamed the moisture from his body with a quick flash of heat, then dressed slowly, enjoying the feel of being clean again. **You're welcome. Now come on. Dancer wanted you back to the gathering area.** He started off back towrds the hut, then looked over his shoulder to see if Dew was following.

"Why must everyone always worry about the cub? What if I wanna sleep in the trees?" Dewpaw said, slightly exasperated, but none-the-less, she followed after Blaze, jogging a moment to catch up. "Do you always listen to Dancer? Or is this a special occasion?" she asked, her tone somewhat sly.

**Because you are the future. Our hope. And to wake up falling out of a tree would be a very silly way to die.** At the mention of Dancer, Blaze shrugged, but kept walking. **Everything she has said so far has held true. So yes, I do listen to what she says.**

Dewpaw placed her hands on her hip stopping in front of Balze and glaring at him **I'll have you know, I've never fallen out of a tree while sleeping or waking up. Thank you** she turned on her heel and started walking again, muttering the whole way under her breath "Such an insult. A wolfrider fall out of a tree. Who would even consider..."

Blaze froze in the face of the little elf, pretending to be afraid. As soon as she turned he rolled his eyes, and took up his position again alongside her, back towards camp. Already the tensions of the recent past's events had begun to fade in his mind.
