Silvrendir didn't care anymore what anyone told him: If someone came at him with the intention of cutting him up and selling his body parts, he was going to use his magic to protect himself, harpies or not. Besides that, he still didn't know how to properly wield a dagger, so he probably wouldn't be much good at it.
That gave him an idea.
"Rengeki," he said softly, hoping he wasn't going to get a negative response because the prince was in a foul temper, "when we stop for the night ... or if we break or something ... can you teach me how to use the dagger? I ..."
He swallowed hard.
"I don't want to be cut up ... but I don't know how to use one ..."

Rengeki smiled and ruffled Silver's hair. "Sure thing, kid. Its really simple, so long as you don't stab yourself with the dagger," he said with a bit a of a nod. The pair trotted down the alley, unseen by most people. He stopped the horses at the outlet of the alley.
A rather nice looking car raced down the street. Rengeki's horse reared in distain. The Prince coughed. "I hate those things... I remember a time horses and your own feet were the way to go. This is disgusting..." he said with a glare after the car. The horses hoped the road into another alley and continued on their way.

Silvrendir smiled back at Rengeki, but he remained silent as they headed down the alley. He didn't even flinch as the car drove past them, too used to the city near his home to be disturbed by it - though he did wish they would slow down. Not only were they scaring the horses, but they were being reckless and could injure someone.
"I would never travel in one," he told Rengeki as they crossed to another alley. "Horses are okay if I have to ... but I prefer walking or flying."
Though the faster they got out of this city, the better, in his opinion.

"If only the old ways had stayed... After the war... it seemed everything decided to jump ahead four centuries..." he shook his head solemly, leading the horses out in a main thorough fair. The street was quieter than the others. It was the outsider district, the place where all the shunned races stayed. Surprisingly, it wasn't a mess of slums and chaos. The district was very clean and many of the races did trade.
It was as if they'd jumped back in time. No cars drove down the cobblestone streets. Horse drawn carts filled the streets instead. Rengeki seemed to sigh in content.
"This," he said, jesturing to the scene in front of him, "is what Beist and Patr should be like. This is the Patr I remember."

Silvrendir looked around them as they rode ahead, and when they reached the older part of the city he smiled softly to himself.
"It's like my mother's world," he murmured. "It's beautiful ... there is no noise ... no pollution ..."
No destruction.

The Prince smiled, "Aye... this was what it was supposed to be, had she taken her true destiny seriously..." he looked up at the sky for a moment, a strange mix of sadness and love in his eyes. He tightened his grip on his reins unconciously as he sighed.
He went to speak when there was a tug on his cloak. He stopped his horse and looked down.
"Rengeki? I didn't think Father let you out anymore," asked the owner of the tug. She was a tall girl with raven black hair like the Prince, but electric blue eyes. A stone similar to Rengeki's hung around her neck. She peered around the Prince to glance at Silver. She smiled, looking curiously at him.
"He doesn't... I had an entire guard with me. That storm weeks prior was almost a god sent to me. And that I met Silvrendir here. Now, Nodiea, why are you out and about? I thought the same applied to a Princess of Manakete?" he asked, before realizing that Silver did not know who she was. "Oh, Silver, this is my youngest sister, Nodiea'Srane, though she prefers Nodiea. She too is Manakete, but more of a halfling than I am. She cannot be come a dragon but---"
"I'm as swift as one in flight and a mage of great power. It is a pleasure to meet you, Angel Silvrendir," she finished for him, as she gracefully climbed onto Rengeki's horse. Her brother rolled his eyes and asked again why she was there. The girl, who appeared to be about thirteen, giggled.
"Aye, that is true, brother, but as I am far down on the heiress list, I am allowed much more freedom than you." Rengeki growled softly in responce. He hated being next in line for the throne sometimes.

Silvrendir listened curiously to the conversation between the Manakete prince and princess. It reminded him a lot of his cousins in the same positions ... he smiled to himself softly. He was growing more and more comfortable with Rengeki every day, and he was glad to have the Manakete by his side, as a guide, as a protector - and especially as a friend.
He bowed his head respectfully to Nodiea, though he made sure his wings were still safely hidden away beneath his cloak and his bag.
"It is an honour to meet you," he told her politely. "Silvrendir Aldrich, at your service."

The girl flashed him a smile and inclinded her head. "My father will be please to know the Angels have come back. Its been far too long since we have been in your presence," she said with another nod. Then she was silent and frowned. "Though... it seems odd you would be called to Ascend so suddenly... I wonder what has changed since we last had contact with the Angels..." Nodiea thought on the issue as the pair, now trio, walked through the old part of town.
The sun was just begining to dip behind the buildings when they came to the edges of the city. Freedom from the opressive city atmosphere was just a short trot away. However...
Rengeki and his sister cursed in unison, one voicing it in Human Tongue (English), and the other in Manakinese. Of course... another road block. The siblings hissed softly, as Rengeki wondered what it was this time.

Silvrendir blinked in shock as Rengeki and his sister cursed, looking at them in surprise. What was going on?
He saw a roadblock ahead of them and turned back to his friends. "What's going on?" he asked quietly. "What are they looking for?"
His wings flattened against his back instinctively, and he made sure that his cloak was covering his angelic traits - though of course it wouldn't help that he had a halo. He didn't want anyone to take him ... and he had no idea what sort of threat awaited them.

Rengeki shook his head, "I don't know. Nodiea?" His sister shook her head as well.
"I couldn't tell you. This is highly unusual for the old part of town." As they neared, the Princess stood up behind Rengeki and stared at the road block. She let out a breath. "It seems they're just doing traffic flow."
She was right. As they came up, they were told to stop and wait. A half an hour later, they where on the other side of the walls, and galloping away.

Silvrendir wasn't sure what traffic flow meant, but when they were safely galloping away from the city, he was filled with relief, and feeling much, much safer. He had never felt so endangered before ... or so vulnerable.
"Will you be coming with us?" he asked Nodiea as they went. "All the way to where we're going?"
He wasn't quite sure where that was, but he sort of hoped she would come ... the extra company would be nice ...

Nodiea thought for a moment. "To where?" she asked. Her brother answered her.
"The Nymphade Forest..." The Princess perked up from her place on the horse, eyes wide with curiousity.
"For the Ascending I presume... Hm... Depends on how long it takes us to get here. If it takes longer than a luner month, I will have to leave to go back home. And drag Reng here with me." There was a growl of discontent from the Prince. "You know it'll happen. Plus... we can't be out when the next full moon comes. You know what it is."
Rengeki grumbled, but edged his horse faster. He did not want to be out during that, but he didn't want to leave Silver either. Such a damned predicament.

Silvrendir's heart nearly skipped a beat when he heard Nodiea being so mysterious.
"What happens on the full moon?" he asked hesitantly, fearing the answer. "Why can't you be out?"
Would he have to continue his journey alone? But how could he do that? He didn't know how to defend himself without magic, which he wasn't allowed to use, nor did he know his way around, even with the map he had!

Nodiea grinned and hopped horses, landing perfectly behind Silver. He was such a cute little Angel... "Well... we become insane rampageing monsters that pillage the nearby towns of their sheep!" She heard Rengeki slap his palm to his forehead and grinned even wider.
"Naw... But do you know of werewolves? It's kinda like that, though we have slightly more control over ourselves. Mostly," she said, playing with Silver's hair.
"Don't go scarying the poor boy, Nodiea. Goddess... we are a civilized race you know," her brother said to her with a small whack on the back of her head. She stuck her tongue out at him in responce.

Silvrendir hadn't heard of werewolves before, though he sort of got the idea of what they were talking about by the way they were talking about it. He chuckled at Nodiea, though his wings pressed instinctively closer to his body as she hopped onto his horse behind him.
"It sounds something like my Mother," he murmured with an amused smile. "But would you really have to leave me then? I'd be lost if I had to be alone again ..."
Sure, he had a map, but that meant nothing, really, since he didn't know the land at all.
