Fire Dragon DOES strongly agree on Nino. People kiss her a** and call her great for it, but since when was having to kiss a** good? Especially when she's only going to be good for a few chapters before the game is over anyway. Pent comes good and Erk is actually around to contribute.
Serra and Priscilla are both good IMO. But I find Serra easier to use because she has Lyn Mode to level in and we all know how much fun leveling a healer is (my distaste for arena's probably contributes to this though).

The first time I got Priscilla, I stuck her right in front of Erik's silver lance... sweatdrop it was an accident! Honest!
Arenas aren't that bad depending on who you use. I never send Oswin in because I know arenas hate Knights and Generals for some bizarre reason. The ones who do go in, however, are mostly units who can hit fast and hard, so I almost never had to yield. To show for it, I've got three Falcoknights, a General, two promoted Lords and a 20 Hector, a Sage, and Bishop, a Nomad Trooper, a Druid, and... I think that's it.
And also, further proof that Jaffar's awesomeness is based all on luck: The chapter where you save Zephiel while trying to reach Jaffar and Nino? Yeah, not one time did he crit on his first attack. Not ONCE. Also, every single time he was attacked by a Swordreaver, he was hit, save perhaps for one time where it meant the difference between life and restarting the chapter, cursing the damn Fog of War. So much for the "Angel of Death".

honestly my most useful unit at critical and regular times was Geitz or Hawkeye. Those guys are all around power houses.

all of them. only because i promoted everybody but matthew, but he was lvl 20 theif. curse my lack of money.

Pent, Harken, Hawkeye. These three were my best experiences I ever had with pre-promotes in this game. Powerhouses with decent evade as well, you especially can't go wrong giving Harken an axe when you encounter those pesky wyvern riders.

Personally, i think almost any character in FE7 can be made good. of course Athos is a beast for his age. Nergal is pretty strong but he isn't a recruitable character. Hector and Lyn are awesome, Guy is considered to be the best swordmaster to have but i like karel better. Priscilla is an awesome healer, i don't want to make this paragraph too long.

I think the best.... Ugh.. There are so many good characters.. But my pick is Wil because he had almost twice the health most archers have, great power, good defense and Because I like Archers.

Rath > Wil, as he can use swords after promotion. His speed and strength growths are insanely high as well.

However, all of Lyndis's legion could be seen as good, as you get to train them the longest. Except Wallace, of course. While he's useful in the beginning, that's all he's useful for... he promotes too dang early and gets no exp unpromoted when I try to level him. D:

Geitz is EPIC. He's one of the better prepromotes, as a matter of fact...
However, I tend to use Hector far more than him in the axe department. And Oswin. Anyone who doesn't level both of them is crazy.

I guess my 'best' units aren't really great... Oswin promoting so dang late after all... (in this file, for some reason I can't put my finger on, Oswin promoted just before "Living Legend.")
