But wasn't the Adipose the first crisis outside the UK? The Christmas trouble under the Thames made a total mess of connections between North & South London. The hospital abduction killed about 2,000 people in London. The Titanic destroyed London completely and irradiated all of South England (no talk of it ruining other countries, only that they are keeping refugees from flooding onto the continent, which could make a chaotic mess of their countries). I don't think the US would have been sufficiently affected yet to make us all thin and hungry. The reason Adipose was located over here instead of London in the alternate reality was because this is where the fat still was! Now, if you want to see a crisis that would have rocked the whole world, they should have had one in CHINA. Think how much of Europe & the US's industry is now over there, how much of the manufacturing base of the world is now there. If something throws China into chaos now, it will have major effects on all of us. Our industrial bases are being dismantled, and it would take a long time to put them back together enough to begin making all those things ourselves again, assuming a lot of those companies don't just go bust right then & there.

Not all--about a third of the population. They said 60 million.

I just realized that Rose mentioned something rather important, while watching the horribly edited SciFi version of Turn Left.
Something like: I thought it was just you, but we need both of you. The Doctor and Donna.
If you've seen the finale, you KNOW what that means. rofl
I just didn't really catch that particular meaning until about the third time through. xp

I was going between here & the TV too much so I missed a lot. I saw it uncut on a pirate DVD anyway. The only cut I spotted was a fairly subtle one--where you don't see Donna actually comes out of the TARDIS, goes all around it in amazement, then back inside before coming back out again. What else did SciFi hack out? Anything important or really good?

YE-ES.. gonk
They cut and came back directly to Wilf saying "Labor camps. That's what they called it last time." It just seems like the importance of that line is SO diminished when you don't see that little bit beforehand, with Rocco putting on a cheery front and basically explaining what's going on, saluting Wilf, and then getting on the truck.
While sitting on a bench, Rose explains to Donna the things that have been happening and drops a reference to a small band on a Sontaran spaceship. The fireball appears in the dark sky, but the conversation continues without mentioning what caused it or that it was the Torchwood crew doing the fighting. No mention of Captain Jack, Gwen, or Ianto!

Re-re-re-re-rewatched it last night on SciFi (and will probably see it again when my mom watches it), and I woe'd over the hacking off of bits of the episode. Seriously, I was fuming. There was the first "I'm sorry, but you're going to die" line missing, I think - so it just sort of seemed like Donna was spouting nonsense when she was about to travel in time, saying things about the universe dying = her dying... then the flashback to it was there, yes, but I don't think it was really, initially, shown! My mistake - that part was there, I realized, after re-watching again. I must have missed it somehow. D:
That, and the Doctor and Donna having their awesome-looking frothy alien coffees in the first scene was cut! One of the best scenes, even if it was freakishly simple, because of their glee and the general "yay, we're happy!" moment (which obviously always = bad things in the episode, haha), and they cut it! D:
And with the other things (mentioned already), and probably some I'm forgetting now, there was a lot of "grr" from me whilst watching. This is why I watch them online as they come out (and why, once I can afford it, I'm so getting this season on DVD), instead of waiting for them to be released over here in the USA. Silly SciFi. talk2hand

Sorry, I have no clue what the hell you are saying Shiny Coffee Fiend. You mean there was more to the episode.
That does it, I am really moving to England now.

That really grinds my gears. Sci Fi shouldn't be allowed to edit the episodes of Doctor Who because it's doing a big disservice to the American fans who waited for the shows to come overseas. I didn't bother watching Turn Left lat night. Mainly because I forgot and I can watch it whenever I want. This also reminds me when BBC America edited The Last of the Time Lords when they cut out the song Can't Decide when the Master was pushing the Doctor around in the wheelchair. I loved that scene and son.

OMG, Doctor!Froth. *giggles hysterically* I'm so mad they cut that out now.
I've been following the show more closely than my dad has, so while I was spazzing the whole episode, my dad was basically going 'WTF?' So I spouted off a whole bunch of stuff during commercials.
Then I yelled 'HO s**t' at the end of the episode and he yelled at me for cursing. crying
