Amdir headed out with Adan and Adwin in tow and headed over to the tree that they were going to make into a swing just as Adonai and Shael left Ulani and Ulrich's house to give the others their tour.

"Hello again!" Adonai called out to Ryu, waving.

"Adonai," Amdir grinned, turning to face his brother in law. "Just the man I wanted to see! Have a minute? Or several? We're finally getting those swings set up for the kids, we could use your expertise."

Adonai looked down at Shael, who nodded. He smiled and leaned over, brushing his lips across hers. "I'll see you later," he promised, heading over to join the others.

"UNCLE ADONAI!" Adwin squealed. "You kissed her!"

Even Adan was giggling.

Adonai ignored both of them and moved past them towards Amdir and Ryu. "So. What's first?" he asked.



Shael, for her part, beckoned to Kara and Donovan and the others to follow her.

"I won't take up much of your time," she assured them. "It's not finished anyways, and I know you have lots to do."

Donovan nodded at this as Lin watched what the boys were going to do curiously, "Go on," he told her, "You'll probably have more fun with them than with the tour."

And he was sure she would find a way to get an escort to the Ranch anyhow. Lin was a smart girl, so he shooed her off to have her follow the boys.

Ryu chuckled as he nodded, the height difference between Lin and Adan was certainly startling at best.

"Aright," he turned to Amdir, "Lead the way."

Amdir led Ryu off towards the back of the house.

"Ulrich spent the last few days carving the seats for the swings, so they're quite ... beautiful, as you might imagine. And unique, though I think he got some of his ideas from your family." He chuckled.

Adan nodded at Lin. "Yeah, Papa says someday I might be as tall as him." He grinned. "I think that'll be neat. But I'll probably never be as tall as Uncle Adonai."

Adonai grinned down at the children. "I've surpassed even Elros and Aragost," he agreed. "You'll have a hard time."

Lin looked up at him, and looked and realized now that it was mentioned Adan was quite right about that. Even with Aragost's tall scariness (though he wasn't scary anymore and hadn't been in a long time), Adonai was still taller.

"I suddenly want to have Sir Valdemar visit so I can measure the two of you," she commented.

"But she won't get mad if she goes with him," Lin pointed out, "If Shael went with Adonai to all those places then she can't be mad because he'll be there with her."

At least from now what she could tell it was the act of being away that made Shael upset. It was like after when her Daddy came back and her Mommy pounced on him each time.

"Maybe I will be..." Lin told Adonai, "It depends, and I only stay for a day here, I should try another visit. I want to visit again.... a longer one."

"You should ask your father," Adonai nodded. "From what I undertand, it's been a while since you've been there anyways. And I've heard stories about how much Earendil looks forward to your visits."

He winked at her teasingly.



Amdir led Ryu to the shed that was next to the river, behind Urich and Ulani's house, and opened it up and stepped inside.

"Here," he said, handing several coils of rope out to Ryu. Then he reached in and pulled out the seats of the swings.

One of them, a single seater, had sides that looked like angel wings - much like Kara's. A second, a bit wider, looked like two mers whose tails met in the middle. The third, long enugh that it looked as though it might fit the entire family on it, was carved with faces - the faces of every Aldrich that lived in the area, from Ulani and Ulrich, Aliya and Amdir and their children, Adonai and Shael, and Elrohir and Haradhel's family with their children.

"I think he went a bit overboard, personally," Amdir remarked dryly, stacking the seats and picking them up all together.

"I think he had a lot of fun doing this," Ryu commented helping Amdir with the seats.

The detail on it was amazing, especially considering the amount of people's faces carved onto the last one.

"He always seems to be willing to carve something."
