Taralina divvied up the fish, giving Rachel a questioning eye before realizing that, though she was sick earlier, she seems ravenous right now. Mentally shrugging, she conscientiously tilted her portions towards the tiny woman out of sympathy.

Rachel hungrily eyes the fish as Taralina begins to take it out of the fire. She inhales it as soon as it is placed in front of her so that by the time Taralina puts a new piece in front of her the previous piece has already been long devoured.

Taralina isn't great with math, so when she divides the meat, it's measured by eyeballing it, but because Rachel keeps eating it before she can figure out how much to give her proportionately, she winds up with about three fourths of the fish overall.

Only after this process does she start to eat, leaving a small portion aside, again, for the spirits.

By the time Taralina starts eating, Rachel has already finished her meal. She tries to look preoccupied while the woman eats, but keeps glancing back at her food and the bit she set aside for the spirits.

Taralina met Rachel's glances with an expression of disbelief. She held out her own plate, incredulously.

"More hungry?" she asked un-surely.

Rachel looks a little apphrehensive about asking for Taralina's food, but then remembers everything she stockpiled from the plane wreckage. She begins digging in her backpack, pulling out packages of peanuts and crackers and downing them faster than she can open then.

The amazon blinked, surprised by the sudden surfacing of the stockpile and by the colorful peels that seemed to cover all of this strange woman's food. She was so distracted by Rachel's eating that she almost forgot to eat her own meal.

The breeze blew, and with it came a scent of flowers, and the sound of rustling foliage.

Thousands of eyes watched Rachel and the amazon, from the forest and the sky. The ceratopsian stirred and grunted in response to some sound pitched too low for humans to hear. The two naked apes eating in the clearing stirred, and began to feel chilly, their hairs prickling, and a nameless sense of dread permeating their souls.

Worried by how much she just ate and the fact that she still doesn't quite seem full, Rachel retires to the tent, trying to distract her mind from food.

As the unfounded sense of horror seeped through Taralina, she laid a hand on the javelin resting along the ground. Normally she would be fearless, but the desolation she felt for the past week as she roamed the valley alone, extracting revenge, had had a negative affect on her nerves.

Superstitiously, she added the last bite of her meal to the sliver set aside for the spirits, and backed away to pat Korchaw reassuringly.

In the tent, Rachel attempts to fall asleep, but her hunger keeps her from sleep or lets her rest for only moments before awakening her again with a growl.

Perhaps out of a nurturing instinct, or perhaps to get some cover between herself and the alien surroundings, Taralina finished calming Korchaw and crouched on her heels in the tent opening, javelin in hand. It was too early to sleep, and she was feeling exceptionally wary, but she made no real attempt to communicate with Rachel to pass the time.

There were a great deal of blossoms about, some pink with little lilac lines tracing towards the center, some pale as white chocolate with a faint flush of green, huge as your head, that gave off little clouds of pollen when you touched them. Some primal memory was trying to cross the bridge between Taralina's concious and subconcious mind, and it manifested in disconcerting ways. Something about the many-colored flowers seemed sinister, as if they were staring at her with eyes they lacked, leering and sneering with the mouths they did not possess. The patches of open sky in the canopy seemed to yawn like evil little mouths, ready to vomit forth poison and death.

In her uneasy sleep, Rachel dreamed of sweet, sticky sins and rains of needles and poisonous pain.

(Something >>will<< happen, I assure you. I just like laying on the atmosphere thick.)

Rachel fitfully shifts in her sleep, unable to find rest due to the nightmares.

As she sat in silence, Taralina cast her eyes upon the two remaining fruit they'd harvested, and she started to wonder if they were somehow forbidden or cursed. She was unfamiliar with this part of the valley, and for all she knew, this fruit was sacred, and she'd committed an act of desecration by taking it.

She wanted urgently to gather them up and return them to the tiny grove at the top of the hill, but the sinister atmosphere kept her rooted in place, searching the bushes for harbingers of vengeance from an unknown source.
