Kikyo didn't avoid the attack and as it hit her, she disappeared into a poof of smoke, replaced by a log. the real Kikyo was running up behind Ken, a kunai ready for an attack or defense.
((this isn't goodmodding, i prepared the substitution jutsu a few posts back))

Kens clone quickly reversed, punching at Kikyo. The fist went straight through her, and Ken quickly got up, ready to keep going.

[Might join the bleach one, despite my knowledge of it being limited to up to episode 23...I kinda forgot to keep watching, oddly]

Kikyo ran behind Ken and held a kunai to his throat while he was picking up the kunai. "i win" she said "and also, you haven't seen me using any of my jutsu for emergencies."

The clone stepped in behind, but Ken waved his hand, making it disappear. "Ditto, Ive got a ton of better techniques than this, some that are quite dangerous, and I didnt want to unnecessarily injure a nice looking girl like yourself" Ken said, grinning.

Kikyo put the kunai back into her kunai pack and said "no need to worry about hurting me. i woulda been fine, had i stopped using academy level attacks"

"nah!" Kikyo said "that was simple cloning and substitution jutsu. i only used those low-level attacks wisely, and mixed with my Taijutsu, i was able to beat you by the way my attack were used."

"most of my other jutsu are extremely dangerous" Kikyo said "so i don't use them, unless my life is at stake, and even then, i'm hesitant to use them."
