He stood at the edge of the cave, looking out at the rain. He found it peaceful, but the mare at the back of the cave certainly didn't. He tried to ignore her, but after another round of thunder followed by her jumping, he scowled and moved back to where she was.
"Kila, for the love of the gods, calm down."

"I can't," she responded with such anger. She could feel her eyes water but she wouldn't cry. Everytimg the cave litted with light from the lightning the flash backs occurred. "..I've been like this since the flood." She looked to him with pain. With agony. Fear. She huddled herselff to the back wall as she closed her eyes. "My family died in a flood when I was a foal..." she replied softly.

He studied her for a moment, watching her terror. Family. It was a foreign concept to the stallion. So was the emotion she showed. Frowning, he moved to stand next to her. "Lie down, please."

She watched him with careful eyes, slowly however she laid down looking up to him. Her lips trembled. She closed her eyes. "A tree fell, from the flash flood. It killed my mother. My father stayed by her side, while my sister and I washed away."

"Stop thinking about it," he commanded, lowering himself to the ground beside her. He hesitated a moment, but he slid the wings on the side facing her around her, tucking her close.

Her ears flickered as he leaned next to her, she cuddled next to him. She burried her head into his wings. "I'm sorry for being such a bother." her body stopped shivering from the cold but every once in awhile it jumped at a crackle of lightning.

His own ears flicked as he stared out at the entrance of the cave, watching the rain as it fell. "You're not being a bother."

She lifted her head to see him but not the rain, "Ok." she looked at him, before tilting her head at him. "You aren't exactly having the best times either." she retorted, displeased with herself.

Turning his head, he looked down at her, studying her for a moment. With a snort, he turned away again. "And what would I be doing if I had left? The same thing, minus you. Standing in a cave, waiting for the rain to stop."

"Well would you rather be with me or by yourself?" she asked. That was the better question ask. She wondored if they'd meet again...she hoped so. Perhaps he was having a bad day.

"I am used to being alone. I enjoy it." He shifted slightly, flicking his tail. "But that doesn't mean I dislike the fact that you are here." His voice was flat, as he continued to gaze out the cave door. "You are at times irritating, but not insufferable."

"I hate being alone..." she admitted. She smiled, "Thanks," she replied nosing his cheek at his compliment. "Not many would stay with me, while it rains...they leave me be." she frowned. "I'm glad I met you." she smiled perkily. "You don't have to snort at that though." she assumed thats what he'd do.

He did indeed. "I apologize. It's a reflex, perhaps." Turning his head, he looked down at her, blowing a stray strand of hair off her forehead. "I'm sorry to here that."

She smiled as she yawned and nuzzled his neck, snuggling closer to him, when he blew her hair from her face. "It's okay, some soquili have their reasons." She yawned, tiredly. She looked to him drowsly before her tired head rested itself. "I'm tired," she said quietly. She wasn't going to fall asleep without his approval for some reason. She thought it to be rude.

He gave her an odd look before turning back to the cave opening. "Then sleep."
