Karite's bare feet felt every stinging step as if it were his last. His body at first would not stop starring down the boars. Jerking, his body turned quickly and instantly felt the twinge of severed muscles in his ribs. His instant proposal from his body for a quick getaway was nothing more than a crawl. He was slower than his standard speedy self. As he took a glance over his scared shoulder he noticed both boars where beginning to pick up speed to pursue. This was perfect and dangerous at the same time. If he couldn’t pull a sizable gap from the beast he would have to run them off the straight path back to Orika. He wanted time to dodge whatever she had created to tap these beasts.

Kore was having just as much trouble as Karite was. Getting his small balck and gold body to move like the lighting it was off the starting line was posing a bigger problem then the little cub anticapated. His shoulder was now throbbing but that wasn’t his problem, his paws were now getting no traction on the slippery ground and the cub found himself running but not going anywhere. This was that feeling his gut was warning him about, but then again this was to be expected when dealing with the trio. Trouble seemed to follow them all no matter what they were doing or who they were with. Assassins and thieves they were supposed to be but it seemed they were nothing more but lucky at best.

The situation may just turn dire now. As much as the Orochi youth would like to see someone get mauled by a boar, bringing a mauled companion of beasty sempai would not fit well. Trying to gaze the possibilities of the situation Shisei did not realize just how close to the edge of the branch he was. The child had moved so far out that the once strong limb was just a tiny ruler like width that could not support him. So in seconds it snapped and the child plummeted downwards. “s**t!” his voice muttered rather quietly considering the situation, but his body made the normal attempts anybody would in that situation. A scramble for anything that would stop or halt the fall. This was somewhat fortunate as his arm managed to get entangled into a vine. This brought his body swinging back into the tree where he bounced off the wood and proceeded to have a plunge with many branches to break his fall. His body shifted through snow and leaves till he finally got to around eight feet where his legs mistakenly wrapped around a branch that brought his decent to a standstill. The amber pupils stared down at hopper who was below him to the side and upside. “… I meant to do that.” he muttered before flipping down to the ground. The child landed on his knees before getting and stared at the trap. “You’re not done as yet? Hurry up or there will be only two of us returning back to the grounds.” his voice urged Orika on to finish quickly. The tactile mind began to wonder if he should intervene or let the hunters handle the situation. That would also depend on how quickly Orika could put the trap together.

There was no telling what else could go wrong. "Is anything broken?" Orika cried, hopping over to Shisei to make sure the boy was alright after a fall from that height. She expected him to be dead, certainly not still bossy! But the crazed look in his golden eyes made the adrenaline pump. Orika helped Shisei to his feet, seizing his arms whether he wanted her to or not. He had to learn that they were a team and that she wouldn't let him down. "Is it a gigantic one?" she eagerly asked, good foot doing a little jump in anticipation. The first thought that occurred to mind was not how well Karite was doing, but rather that they were going to capture a really huge animal! But as Shisei's concerned words reached her bronze ears, Orika whimpered and nodded, scuttling off to finish the trap. Her own thoughts were moving at seventy kilometres per hour and she simple could not keep up. What was she doing? Uh... uh... okay, take this one step at a time. They were hunting... boar. And Shisei had climbed a tree while Karite and Kore ran off to chase down the pigs. And her job was to make a trap? But what kind of- This was taking way too long. Orika pushed the uncertainty that she had no idea what she was doing aside and limped to the place where she thought she had made her trap. There was a tangle of vines with a stick gate sitting nearby. The vines made a... V-shape. That was it!

All that was left to do was to create the larger V and she was done. Orika tackled the task with a whirlwind of viciousness that could not be best in a thousand years! One crutch struck a rock and she tripped in the dim light and rolled onto the ground, smacking her head against a tree. The girl bit down a cry as she rubbed her broken ankle, feeling around for any wet spots that would indicate that she broke it further. Fortunately, Tenko's bindings held well. Farm girl picked herself up painfully and rubbed her head, sliding the headband back to place with her crusted fingers. The only thing left was for Karite to fall and let the boards snack on his tasty flesh. Orika looked around and found she had fallen near a charred tree struck down by lightning. Her hands ran over a stick and an idea came to mind. Little hopper hopped to her feet and started collecting as many sticks as she could. She limped to the site of the trap and started sticking the sticks at quarter metre intervals, spread out in a large v shape on both sides of the main trees. The sticks were stuck deep in the ground and pointed inwards so it would stab any animal that came too close. Orika made two lines of about twenty sticks each, perspiration building from the quick work. After the first line was done, she followed with a second row behind that one to make sure no boar got through. There, all done! Orika hopped over to Shisei and gave him a thumbs up to show she was finished with her trap. "We need to hide so we don't scare off the boar. I'll be behind one of those two trees where the trap is. I think you should get in a position where you can catch the boars off guard," she suggested, pointing to her back. Going at the boars from the front was insane with their tusks. "I heard archers shot at the shoulders."

She nodded to Shisei and rushed off to find a place to conceal herself. In her condition, it would be impossible to climb a tree and she couldn't just stand out in the open. Orika felt at a lost for good hiding places. Wasn't Shinichi-sensei or Maya supposed to teach them this stuff? They were probably doing that in school right now while they were stuck playing fetch for a moody teenager. Orika shook her head as she reflected on the kind of person Maya was. It was so strange that she went from authoritative slave driver to nice old granny in two seconds flat. Did she like Shisei, as in like-like? Orika flushed at the thought, not wanting to believe that anyone could care for that b*****d, but it made so much sense, how Maya defended him, how she only mildly criticized serpent boy, and how he got away with ever vile thing that came out of his mouth. That was just... Ew. She had alluded to losing a lot of people she cared for so Orika figured that a quick romance or if not that, then an overly attached affection to another guy was the private girl's way of coping with relationship strains. Orika was so caught up in meditating about her senpai and guardian that she didn't even bother looking for cover. If worse came to worse, she could just hope the boar doesn't see her. Nah, that was a stupid idea, especially since they were looking to kill it, not just trap it in a nice safe pen!

Shisei stared as the girl hurried along to quickly finish the trap, not taking heed to any of her questions. To entertain any of them would mean less time to complete the task. Once it was done though the snake youth had to admit to himself that he was impressed with it. He wouldn’t have expected someone like her to come up with such a trap. Then again his brain did not excel in trap creations. All that mattered to him was if he was able to get out of the trap. Maybe it was an easy invention that all farmers knew? Either way it was notable that hopper managed to create it so quickly in her condition. All that was left now was for Karite to come in with the boars. If he was able to make it alive. The snake child was still considering going and getting the boars to chase him instead. All the reaper needed to do was find the animals. His mind was awakened back to reality by Orika’s voice. She gave a thumbs up and stated about the positions they should take. After her voice stated something about shooting at the back of the shoulders. The quick acting brain would keep that in mind. After that it seemed the girl lost concentration and zoned out with her face becoming slightly red. Violet brows slanted slightly downwards at this behavior. This wasn’t the time to be losing focus. “Hey. Stop thinking about boys or whatever girls think about and keep focused. I don’t know how this contraption of yours is supposed to work so I’m counting on you to take the lead from here.” His voice replied while one pale finger flicked the girl’s nose to bring her back to reality. Both eyes peered around the area and at the trap. Just where was he supposed to go? The last thing Shisei wanted was to hide somewhere that could potentially get him ensnared with the wild boar. Serpentine orbs looked into Orika’s mahogany pupils. “Where do you need me to hide?” the serpent questioned, waiting for a reply.

Orika finished her thought about Maya and smirked as she heard Shisei tell her to stop thinking about guys. How ridiculous. "Girls think about other girls, Shisei," Orika replied as sagely as she could, taunting him. She flicked away his protruding finger and rolled her eyes when he went on to say how he had no idea how the trap worked. It was almost too simple! "I can't believe I have to explain this," Orika muttered, though taking no strength to hide her frustration, "The boar runs this way. When he sees the pointy sticks, he'll have no choice but to run towards this pen here. When the piggy goes through, I'll lock this gate into place and you'll... I don't know, snap its neck or choke it to death with a vine. Me and Karite can help after a while, but for the first few seconds, you're on your own." She puffed out her cheeks and pointed up to the trees, "You can jump at 'im from up there." As for her, well she didn't have to faintest clue. Where would be a good place to hide and not get mauled by the boar? She could only stay on the forest floor and yet needed to go undetected by the pig less he get some violent thoughts. "I dunno about me, though," Orika whispered, her voice surprisingly clear in the silence of the forest. She stared off in into the distance and watched a flock of crows flutter away as Kore's yelps gradually got louder, though they were still fairly far off. That was no excuse to do nothing, however. Orika gulped down her doubt as the bad omen settled on her shoulders. There were so many uncertainties with this hunt. It was... exciting.

Karite moved faster and faster as his mind pushed out the pain resonating like a church bell from his rib cage with every step. As he looked over his shoulder all he could see was hundreds of pounds of pure anger rushing at him. Looking ahead there was a fallen tree in his path. Kore seemed t split from the path at that point. Knowing animal’s one boar would more than likely follow him. As Karite neared the branch he took a light jump putting both legs together and straddle flipped over the trunk. Keeping up his momentum he felt the blood rush up through his throat and he quickly spit it out so he could breath. Karite was moving faster and faster but not ignoring the fact he had to clue what the outcome of this run would be. So many sat before him and to think this one might be the last one scared him a little. An image popped into the young Reapers head. It was Orika's smile. Weird image to have when one feared for their life but somehow it caused him to speed up. The thought of Orika made the Reaper push himself harder. Strange but subconsciously maybe there was a connection between the two. His mind was soon snapped out of it as he heard the explosion of energy that the boar created when it ripped through the trunk like nothing more than water.

Kore was moving ahead of Karite his black paws pounding as heavy as they could on the frozen ground. He moved with all the speed the cub could muster. Looking ahead a trunk had fallen in the path. This Kore did not expect. With his shoulder in such a condition there was no chance he was going to be able to jump over it and keep his speed. The cub took a sharp right deep off the path towards the others and hoped he could circle around again a later point. Memorizing Karite's scent it should not be hard to pick off any of the three to get him back where he needed to go. Letting out a few high pitched yelps the cub hoped that in any case if things got worse one of the three would come back for him. Karite was busy and it would be hard for him to detach himself from his target in order to save the cub. Listening with his powerful ears Kore heard and felt every thundering step from the boar even as he split off from the main chaos it was still there. It was closing in. If the cub did not pick up the pace he would be nothing but flatten kitty litter.

Karite smiled as he looked and the boar was shaking away the trunk it just splintered. At this rate Karite would make it in no time. He would have to wash his shirt but he could make it easy. Right now he was concentrating on making sure he did end up with another hole in his back side. Pounding his feet heavy on the ground the young Reaper looked to his left and saw none other than Kore. He made it at least past the stump. But if he was going to run that behemoth in the trap he would have to come back of over. And line up with the path before he passed it. Looking behind him again Karite saw a very angry boar coming at him faster and a low hanging branch. The only thing he could do was slide on the ice and hope he didn’t break anything to vital to his escape. Running from the boars Karite leaped forward his body running parallel with the ground feeling the icy mist through his fishnet sleeves he slid across the ice spinning and quickly jumped up. "Ha pig breath your mom was a toad stool." Karite said laughing as he began picking up his speed his adrenaline aiding in returning his body to him.

Kore speed along at half speed as he thought to himself if he ever got back he was pouncing on that girls stomach for slowing him down during a hunt. As the lion cub perked his blacken tipped ears he picked up the hoof sounds from behind him the boar had gotten closer. Kore had no choice but to pull some sticky maneuvering. As Kore looked ahead he noticed the ice. Hopefully this boar wasn’t as good as jumping around as Kore was. Kore hit the ice and as fast as he could and darted right. Dodging tree roots and decaying who knew what he got far enough and cut left. Zigzag along the ice he made sure the boar followed every cut. As the boar did Kore could hear the boar slow his steps as to not fall on the ice. The lion’s nails came in handy in keeping his maneuvering strong. Baki on the other hand would have ended up like the boar. To have to cut like that on ice. As Kore hit back on solid ground the gap had grown. The next task was lining up with the trap.

After some thought, Orika realized she still didn't know how to conceal her body, but she could do something about her scent. "We've got to blend right into the forest!" the farm girl exclaimed, already stooping to gather some rotten leaves. Her heavy fingers brushed against a pile of moist, yellowed ones, scattering them so that the insects underneath scurried away from her touch. Orika picked off a few beetles with fascination and watched the black insects curl up into their safe balls, tiny armoured rings flashing. A few holes in the leaf indicated that the beetle had been eating and minuscule brown dots told her they ate well and for quite a while. Without any visible trace of disgust, Orika rubbed her clothing with the leaves. Disgruntled that one leaf could only provide so much forest juice, she dropped to the ground and used her elbows to roll around on the forest floor, picking up everything from dirt to dung to mud. She personally liked getting dirty, but Orika could see where some of this might repulse Shisei. He had the option of hiding in a tree while she had to stay on the ground so this was definitely necessary. By the time she was finished rolling around like a common dog, her clothes were stained a deep brown, huge rivers of filthy water on soft blue grass. Her mother would be angry, but then again, she'd be much more pissed had Orika come back missing a limb or with two tusk-sized holes through her chest. She grabbed a handful of grass and stuck it in her hair, tucking the dark colored substance, (not like the grass on the farms at all!) beneath her hairband. What else? Oh, the favorite. Orika smudged her face with mud, taking care to make her caramel skin blend in even more with the dark forest setting. She searched about for a large leaf to cover herself with and found just the perfect one. There, now she smelled and looked just like the forest. However, a clump of dirty leaves would still look out of place if she didn't pick her surroundings carefully. The boar was smart and could probably tell if she stuck out from the bottom of a tree. But the important thing was that she was one step closer to procuring the pig's tasty meat.

Now there was a river nearby where the two students stood waiting for their teammate to bring in the bacon. The river was small, no wider than the length of a full grown man, for it is but one of the many tributaries the main river takes before it passes to empty in the lagoon. The water encased within the mile long trough was as with many things in nature overflowing with insect life, whose combined feces made the water so far from the sparkling clear color one usually imagined clean water to be. But this was not to say it was bad water, for everything Lord Kami-sama made is just and natural. But that didn't make it good either. Orika wandered off to find some grasses to finish up her disguise, limping along slowly under the influence of her stupid crutches. They had only been a nuisance at first, but now she found she could hardly do as much as the guys. She couldn't run, climb, or kick, skills necessary to kill a boar. But the girl refused to let that fact ruin her cheery demeanor. Instead, she told herself that the guys need her to build the trap and to help by holding down the beast, something that could be done without working feet. Orika was so preoccupied in her thoughts that she missed seeing the river and fell head over heel, making a loud splash that the girl was absolutely positively sure the pig heard! Now she was all wet and in danger (Reow!). The farm girl held her breath, waiting for the inevitable sound of tusks piercing her chest, but nothing came. Thank kami... She picked herself out of the river, ignoring the ruined clothing, and brushed the insects off her soaking jacket. Making her way back to Shisei, Orika gave him a nervous grin. He would probably freak at her appearance.

Revolting, repulsive, reprehensible! Vile too. The snake child had only locked his consciousness away in his brain to contemplate Orika’s words of girls thinking about other girls. That he was calming himself from young hopper’s explanation. She couldn’t believe she had to explain it? Shisei couldn’t believe she was on crutches from a kitten, but the snake child held his tongue. For now all he wanted was to bring back this kill. The diva’s next few sentences escaped him, but as his eyes refocused he saw what the kunoichi in training was doing. She was filthy now. Like some little troll or pig that was having fun in the ground. Her skin was a darker tone because of the mud layer. Shisei did not make any outward expressions of what he was thinking. His face just remained emotionless towards this. Inwards though he was gagging. Perhaps if it were a human opponent this would be necessary, but to an animal with a brain half their size. Shisei just shook his head in a disapproving manner not saying anything at first. “It seems you’re used to acting like a pig… you do your ‘blending’ thing on the ground then and I’ll hide in the trees like you suggested.” The serpent youth said remembering what Orika said about sneak attacking from above. That would be for the best. This would give the maverick a small amount of solitude from the others. Then he wouldn’t have to see a girl pretending to be some type of rotting dryad. His body leaped towards one branch, making it one and then the white frame flipped and twirled to a branch about ten feet off of the forest floor. He crouched down low and his head pivoted over his back to see if broken hopper had found her hiding spot.

He had enough height, but his form was still out in the open. Even the scaly kid knew that his white skin stuck out like an unhammered nail in this green forest. If there was a snow storm then it would be another story. The other option was to become a mud person like his crippled peer on the floor, but that was out of the option. So now he had to contemplate another means to stay out of sight. “Hmm…” the dread head began to contemplate while checking his surroundings. One gold eye shifted back down to the earth girl to see if she had found a hiding place. Still nothing. She was going to get gored by that hog when it came out and now one was going to save her. Unless the reaper wanted to play noble saint and save her, but that may just mean his demise too. Would that really be a bad thing? Then the serpent thought about the look on the Amazoness’s face if he brought back both companions dead. As funny as that would be, he still needed to learn jutsu from that wild woman. “Do you want to get killed? Stop slacking and get in position. I suggest some place where you can attack and not be attacked.” the fanged mouth ordered. The snake child then hopped onto a branch and moved around the trunk till he was opposite of sight from the trap. His face could still look forward and see when Karite was coming, he’d just have to estimate his jump or leap back onto the other branch quickly when time came to assassinate the hog.
