Kilik recalled his Elekid. The idea of attacking an organization like Team Aqua with him fully exposed seemed like a bad one. The boy nodded firmly and raised his fist as well, punching knuckles with Mike's. "You lead the way, partner." Kilik dropped his hand to the side and headed out of the Center with his friend.

A million thoughts were running through his mind at once. What was Team Aqua like? If they were as bad as Mike said, they must've been just like Team Rocket, only just a tad less evil. Where had they been hiding? He knew that both Team Aqua and Team Magma had presence in Hoenn: two rivaling Teams with opposite goals. Kilik didn't know those goals, but if Mike had a run-in with them, then they must've been pretty bad.

What was the point in kidnapping Mike's friend? After all, it was just a girl, wasn't it? What value did she have to their plan? Did she have something or did she know something very important that could 'aide' Team Aqua's plans? So many questions that were unanswered, but didn't need to be. The fact is that Mike's friend is in trouble. And, by association, that makes her my friend too. Kilik thought with a blank expression. He was willing to pay any price to save her.

Mike noticed his partner recalling Elekid. "Well Kilik," he said with a sly tone. "Some of the grunts in Aqua are pretty lousy trainers, so I think we can rack up some decent experience for Napalm and Elekid if we're careful." The boy rummaged through his bag, pulling out a TM. "I just hope you like Zubat." Mike said under his breath as he placed the orange red CD to Napalm's Pokeball, teaching him the move Flannery had given him upon winning the Lavaridge Gym challenge: Overheat.

"Not a moment to lose," The boy dashed out of the Center, Prickles following behind him. Mike broke into an all out run, heading for the cliffs. When he reached the drop off, he leaned forward to get a closer look at one of the larger caves out in the distance. Nothing had changed since he'd seen it last, and he could see two men standing at the entrance, barely, but it was a good sign. "Perfect. They haven't moved yet." Mike looked around to see if anyone was watching him. No one.

He knelt down, removed and unzipped his backpack, quickly taking off his trademark jacket and stuffing it inside. He wrapped a black scarf around his mouth and adorned a dark red hoodie with a strange black logo on it, pulling the scarf out from the collar, lifting the dual spiked hood over his head. The boy changed his pants next, and fast. The new pair's only difference was a darker grey hue. Matching red armbands were pulled then over his gloves, not completely covering them. His comfortable normal sneakers were replace with darker, cleat like shoes for maneuverability, but not before hiking up a pair dark red socks. After completing his change the boy stood up, staring at the cave with intensity.

He heard Kilik and Prickles approaching behind him and closed his eyes, taking in a deep breath. "I bet you're wondering how I am so aware of Team Aqua's whereabouts, and how I knew they were behind the whole incident from the start. Well, Kilik, you're not the only one to have secrets. I know this," Mike turned to face his friend, a small gold rimmed badge on his chest in the shape of a mountain glimmered in the sun. His scarf waved majestically in the wind. The outfit was unmistakable.

"Because I was once a high ranking member of Team Magma. Their mortal enemies!"

As Robin and Luffy celebrated their capture they didn't notice a rustling in the grass a few feet away from them. They also didn't notice it when the grass parted to reveal a short bug catcher. They were not paying attention as he crawled his way over to them hat on his head shielding his eyes. The two continued to dance and cheer as the bug catcher snatched the pokeball containing their newly caught Yanma. They did notice though when the bug catcher started scooting back in order to get back to the grass.

"Hey! What do you think you are doing!" Robin shouted clearly not happy with what she is seeing. On the ground Luffy had stopped hopping about and was staring with wide eyes at the escaping trainer.

The young bug catcher just looked startled at being caught. Without saying anything else he got up and ran off taking the Yanma with him.

"Gah! Luffy get him!" Robin yelped pointed at the retreating trainer. Hearing his trainers command Luffy took off giving chase. "Urg, why do they always run?' Robin complained before taking off again her tired legs running after them.

It did not take Luffy long to catch up to the other thief and tackle him to the ground. A moment later Robin was standing over him hands on her hips and a glare on her face. "You shouldn't take other peoples pokemon." She scolded.

"Hey! I took it, its mine now!" The bug catcher seemed to get his courage back as he yelled at Robin.

"Nuh-uh! It doesn't work like that!" Robin shot back at him.

"Yeah well! I'll battle you for it!" The boy yelled back struggling from under Luffy who while small was surprisingly good at pinning him down.

"Gah! It doesn't work like that!" She pouted stomping her foot on the ground.

The bug catcher reached into his belt and took out a pokeball and tossed it out. "Paras get this ugly monkey off me!" The small insect pokemon with mushrooms on its back appeared. The bug stared at Luffy for a second before scurrying forward and raising its claw to use Scratch. It was a good thing that Luffy saw it coming and used its tail to flick the Paras in the face in a nice use of Fake Out.

"Elekid will see some action when the time is right," Kilik called out to him as they began to run. Yet Mike showed some speed, a talent that Kilik was quite unaware of, that awed him. He shook his head and suddenly Mike as completely out of his sight. He paused in the middle of Lilycove City, looking around frantically. "Mike?!" he called out. There was no reply. Kilik glanced down at Prickles and sighed. "You lost him, too?" The trainer picked up the cactus and walked with him. He was surprised that he didn't feel any pricks against his body.

For as long as he could remember, Kilik was usually faster than most boys. Even Mike, who he had outran on numerous occasions, was gone now. Maybe he was just getting out of shape. No, no. That's not it. Mike was just...excited. The thought repeated itself in his head. Kilik was still speedy. The boy scratched the back of his head as he continued to look up and down the city for his friend. There was a silhouette on the cliff up ahead of them. Was that Mike? Kilik ran after it, putting Prickles on the ground to follow him, and slowed down when he saw that it was a person in a red and black hoodie. A uniform of some sort.

His eyes widened at what came out of his mouth. "You were...part of Team Magmaaaa!?" The boy placed his hands on his head and laughed heartily. Realizing what he had just said, Kilik sort of yearned for his old Rocket uniform back. He then shook his head, slipping his hands into his pockets. "Man oh man. And after all the guff you and everyone else gave me for being part of Team Rocket."

Of course, Kilik was certain Mike was never forced to kill somebody.

Mike narrowed his eyes at his friend's lighthearted response. This was a secret he never told his own mother, now only Kilik and Keegan knew of it, and he was laughing. He was angry at his friend's reaction, mostly because it wasn't the dramatic gasp he was hoping for. "This is nothing like what you did Kilik! And you know it!" He barked, crossing his arms. "I joined Team Magma because I wanted to save my home, I could give a damn about fame or riches!" The boy's voice was loud, like an angry teacher trying to drive basic arithmetic into the skulls of non-responsive grade schoolers. "If I didn't do what I thought was right at the time, then Hoenn as we know it might have been destroyed!" He felt bringing up Kilik's crimes as a member of Team Rocket would only fan the flames of tension that erupted mere moments ago so he decided against it.

"I'm telling you this because I trust you Kilik. This is something only a select few have been made aware of, not even my own family know of my dealings with Team Magma." Mike whirled around, taking another look at Team Aqua's hideout, then down at the cliff leading into the ocean. "I joined to help preserve my homeland, our homeland Kilik. I want you to know that." He trailed off, then snatched a Poke Ball from his strap, turning to Kilik once more. The boy looked his friend right in the eye, clutching the Poke Ball tight in his hands. "My question is this; do you still trust me enough to help me save my friend?"
PostPosted: Wed Apr 02, 2008 6:55 pm

Kilik held up his hands defensively. "Whoa, whoa there. Call in the Snorunt to cool down this fire," he shook his hands. Kilik had no idea what Team Magma was all about. For all he knew, they were just like Team Rocket. However, the boy trusted Mike's word and dropped his hands to his sides.

"Look, Mike. I trust you," he stated, "I trust you more than any friend I've ever had. If you joined Team Magma to protect our homeland," he made sure to emphasize the point that they both were born there, "then I've got my trust in them, too. When you asked me to help, I accepted no matter what the cost. You still trust me, even though I was part of Team Rocket, don't you?"

"Teams don't change people. You're still Mike and I still trust you." Kilik planted a reassuring hand on his shoulder then snagged up Ludicolo's Pokeball. "Now let's go in there and get your friend, shall we?"

"Well..." Mike tilted his head a bit to the side. "I'm not really a part of them anymore to be precise." He chuckled to himself, the scarf covering his mouth accenting his eyes, making his nervous expression quite comical. "After doing something pretty stupid and failing to talk it over well with the boss, I sorta trashed their lab and bailed. So, they're jerks. I just really really like this uniform." A moment of silence happened between the boys, a very awkward moment. Mike coughed, then spun around and leaped off the cliff.

"It was with the best intentions I swear!" His voice trailed off as he free falled towards the ocean. Please miss the rocks. Please miss the rocks. Mike prayed as he threw his Poke Ball with full force at the water below him, releasing his Cloyster: Shiver. The Bivalve was extremely confused, as the last thing he remembered was that he was sleeping in Mike's pool back in Lavaridge. But before the Pokemon could gain his bearing his trainer landed on him with great force, causing him to completely submerge in water. Mike jumped right as he impacted his Pokemon, timing it so he landed when Shiver bobbed back up so he didn't get wet. "Holy s**t that was sweet!" The boy cheered, pumping his fist in the air. "Thanks Shiver!" Mike knelt down and pet his Cloyster, rubbing the dirt from his shell where he had landed. "Oh, and you're in Lilycove, east of Lavaridge and I'm going to storm Team Aqua's base to rescue Sasha."

The pink haired psycho? Oh well, at least he had the decency to fill him in on what was happening. As initially startled as he was, he couldn't lie to himself that he was happy to be spending time with Mike, and a bonus for the open ocean.

"Alright Shiver," Mike shouted, grabbing onto the Cloyster's two large top spikes like handlebars. "Let's hit it!" After a quick moment's preparation, the Bivalve Pokemon rocketed forward, and the two were off.

Even with Kirstie in tow, it didn't take Jaeshan very long to reach the red-roofed Pokemon Center. Kirstie didn't go inside with him, choosing to remain outside while she waited for Jaeshan.

He didn't hesitate to step through the sliding doors, looking around even as they closed behind him with a soft whooshing sound. "Ryka?" he asked, hoping to catch a glimpse of blond hair somewhere around. "Are you here?"

The disappointment was quite apparent on his face when he realized she wasn't there, and he flopped down onto a cushy beanbag chair and sighed, burying his face in his hands. Had she just been playing a joke on him? How did she know he was close to Petalburg? He didn't know, and it pained him to wonder just what was going on and have no answers at all.

"Excuse me, are you Jaeshan?" came the sweet voice of Nurse Joy, and Jaeshan felt a soft hand on his shoulder. He looked up into her kind eyes, and nodded, the confused look still apparent on his face. "Oh, good then. She said you'd come. A friend of yours; Ryka. She knew you'd be by here at some point, so she had something sent to you." The nurse retreated to the desk and then into the back room, coming back after a few moments with something in her hands. It was small, and wrapped in a soft blue cloth bag to protect whatever was inside. "She told me to tell you to take good care of it, as she wouldn't trust it to anybody else."

Jaeshan said nothing, only held out his hand as she placed the cloth in his hands, then went back to the desk again, this time to tend to a trainer's injured Seedot. Jaeshan stared at it for a moment or two before holding up the bag and dumping its contents into his outstretched palm. A red and white sphere fell into his hand, feeling cold against his skin. A Pokeball? he thought, holding it up and studying it. It looked brand new, as though it had never been used at all. Wonder what's inside? he mused as he clicked it open.

Still feeling weak in the knees because of Tierra's Earthquake, Keegan stablized himself, looking towards his opponents curiously. Rupert was shouting indistinctly at his Pokemon, who seemed to be shaken (a bad pun, he knew) by the attack. The Grovyle was more than ready to continue though, as it was resistant to moves of the ground variety, and jumped up, aiming to hit the Swellow with a Quick Attack. Artemis hadn't been prepared for it and took it on the chin, but not before retaliating with a sharp Peck attack of her own that knocked the swift grass type back down to the ground.

The Spinda, still tottering around drunkenly, seemingly vanished from sight before reappearing in front of the Geodude, striking in a cluster of darkness - Faint Attack. Keegan shouted at her to fight back with a Rock Smash, but the Geodude only hovered there, blinking at her opponent slowly.

It was then light started to spill from the cracks in her body, and for a moment Keegan thought she was going to Selfdestruct. When two more arms burst out of the rock on either side of her body, which was growing larger as two powerful yet stubby legs busted out as well, he knew she was evolving. The light died down, and the newly evolved Graveler bashed her four fists together simultaneously before taking a double swing at the Spinda and sending it flying across the battlefield.

Kilik tossed up Ludicolo's ball a split second or so after Mike did. The ball opened in the air and spilled out the white light into the sea and the trainer caught the sphere on it's return trip. Ludicolo bobbed in the water for a moment, then looked around. He raised an eyebrow at the Cloyster next to him then let out a light "Ludi!" when the Pokemon dashed off with a trainer on his back.

"Yippie-yi-yo!" Kilik called out, jumping from the cliff, landing on Ludicolo's sombrero. He stood on the leaf, which was surprisingly heavy and stiff, and placed his hand on the pineapple in the middle. "I'll explain everything later, buddy. Just follow that Cloyster!" He pointed ahead.

The Carefree Pokemon hummed to himself happily, completely ignoring his trainer. That was, of course, until he felt a swift slap against the pineapple. He then swam as fast as he could, and thanks to his handy ability, moving in the water was quick. However, since he wasn't as skilled in the water as Shiver, it took him a moment to catch up. Ludicolo managed to keep up once he made it, though.

Kilik stood tall on the leaf and glanced over at Mike, enjoying the spray from the water. "So. What's the game plan?" he called over.

A loud ringing in Mary-Anne's pocket claimed her attention away from the battle raging before her. Hastily, she fumbled for her PokeNav, silencing it by answering it before it could distract the two from their match (although she doubted anything less than a hurricane could divert their focus now). Not having a chance to check the caller I.D., she resorted to old-school answering. "Hello? Who is it?" she murmured, turning away from the battle to better hear her caller.

"M.A., darling, it's your mother. We need you to come home -- your father's in critical condition. Where are you?"

"Wait mom, what happened? Is pops okay?"

"The was an accident at the dig site, and . . . " her mother was speaking too fast for her to understand, and the daughter's brow furrowed, her characteristic, natural smile dipping low. "Where are you?"

"I'm not too far from Goldenrod, in Johto -- "

"Ah, perfect! I'll page Michael, then. He's not too far away, I don't think. . . he was just heading this way in fact." The woman quickly suggested that M.A. get some clothes fit for flying a little ways and grab her things before hanging up, leaving M.A. a bit bedazzled. Wow, how sudden! And she still didn't know the condition of her father. . . The brunette girl paused for a moment, biting her lip distraughtly until she nearly drew blood. That father of hers! Always cheerful, smiling, so obsessed with his fossils. . . he'd better be alright!

Then, without wasting another breath, she turned inside stealthily, recalling her Pokemon as she did so. They didn't even have time to give her more than a questioning glance, although they adopted the worried expression she held in her face.

First things first, M.A. confronted the Daycare Man and Woman. "I gotta leave for some urgent business so. . . can you tell Ky that I've gone? I'll call him later. Thank you for all your hospitality!" she said, leaving out the details that she didn't feel like confiding. Racing into the living room, she found her bag and pulled out a pair of beige capris to replace her skorts -- she had no idea by what her mother meant by flying, but she decided on her favorite pair of baggy, comfortable capris. That was to be all, but then on second thought, she figured this was the first time she'd seen Michael in quite a while now. Might as well look a little presentable, although it was an unimportant, almost frivolous thought amidst all the seriousness about her father. Ah well, she had a bit of time before Michael came, she figured, so she slipped on an off-the shoulder top and tied her hair into a low pony-tail, cursing herself for her slight vanity as she did so.

Just as she stumbled outside, the sound of heavy flaps became evident in the air. Looking up, she was astonished to see her brother -- handsome as ever, smiling to see the little figure that was his sister below -- riding bare-backed on some strange dinosaur. . . tree thing. It landed with a heavy thud, its leaf-like "wings" (if you can call them that) slowing with the massive amount of air it had to push to keep itself above the ground.

"EEEMMMAAAYY!" Michael yelled over the wind, jumping off neatly and sweeping his sister up in his arms. He really was the only one who could do that comfortably -- he was just an inch taller than her, but much more broad. "Hey, it's been a while! Has it been two weeks? Three? It feels like so long..." He let her go, investigating her. "Healthy, check. In one piece, check (what a miracle!). Two arms, two legs. . . and what is this? A chest developing? Now, that wasn't there be--" He was cut off by Mary-Anne's sock to his cheek. "Mikey!" the girl laughed, hugging him. She'd forgive him this time for the teasing. In a moment, in her brother's comforting arms, she forgot the family issue -- but only for a moment, as he began to pull her towards the dinosaur. "Time to go. Time's a-wasting, and we have no idea what's going on with Dad. . . you know how Mom can get hysterical at the worst times."

"Right," M.A. sighed, the worry plunging her spirits down once more. "Now, now, don't weigh yourself down too much yet. We don't know if it's serious," Michael reprimanded, seemingly reading her mind. "Oh! And if you're wondering (which you are, I can see it in your face!), this beaut right here is a Tropius -- I borrowed him from a friend for this trip. Lovely, isn't he? Top condition, too," he said, lightening the mood as quickly as the weather changes. Mary-Anne had to agree though, as she enviously watched the Pokemon began to flap its strange wings in such a majestic way -- Tropius sure were out of the norm, but they were absolutely gorgeous in their own exotic way.

Although you couldn't see it beneath the scarf, Mike smiled as the pineapple duck Pokemon hauled tail to catch up to them. He couldn't help that he had the better Pokemon for the job though. Shiver's two large horns on the top of his body functioned as a perfect steering wheel, and the Cloyster was an adept swimmer, so everything worked out. Mike felt the wind on his...eyes as his scarf flapped in the ocean air, somewhat painful. The occasional ocean spray was also a bit blinding, but there was nothing he could do about it until he somehow learned how to fly.

All the grievances aside, the feeling of riding one of your Pokemon over the ocean was something he enjoyed, but almost selectively because he trusted his Pokemon. Back to buisness.

"Well, I know the building relatively well since I've been there before, and the grunts won't be able to recognize me because they're stupid." He pointed to the main entrance, which was guarded by only two men. "The only problem we have to worry about is if we encounter one of the admins, as they've been around long enough to recognize me in and out of my uniform." Mike shuddered at the thought of meeting up with Archie himself. That was the last thing they needed. "The reason I'm wearing this is to hopefully cause confusion and panic, therefore making our job a little easier." He shrugged. "Or maybe they'll just send everything at us and we'll get royally whooped and it'll be all my fault for being impulsive and overly dramatic!"

Mike let out a crazy laugh as the two jet skied on their Pokemon towards one of the most significant events in their lives as trainers.

Like always Fake Out worked perfectly and leaping off of the bug catcher Luffy faced off against the Paras a grin on his face.

Now free the bug catcher scrambled up to his feet dusty and an angry look on its face. "Paras use your Stun Spore." The small mushroom bug narrowed its small eyes and shook its self causing a large cloud of yellow spores to come out.

Now normally this wouldn't be to much of a problem, most pokemon know to keep OUT of the spores. Unfortunately Luffy was not the brightest pokemon and he thought the paralyzing spores looked cool and jumped right into them. Groaning Robin watched Luffy's surprise as his muscles seized up and he froze.

"All right! Never thought that Aipom would be that stupid!" The bug catcher cheered. "Ok Paras lets get some of your health back! Leech Life." Scurrying forward the bug pokemon latched itself onto Luffy's tail and bit down starting to suck the life from the paralyzed Luffy.

"Come on Luffy, snap out of it and whack that bug off of you!" Robin tried her best to cheer her pokemon. It just wasn't working though, Luffy was stuck where he was getting his health drained more and more. It wasn't from wanting to move, Luffy did want to get the funny mushroom off of his tail but for the life of him his muscles wouldn't move.

The look on Kilik's face when Mike presented the possibility of 'being royally whooped' was priceless. He shook his head and laughed. "I'm sure we'll be fine!" he called out. He kept a firm palm on Ludicolo's pineapple and bit his lower lip. "But if that does happen," he continued, "then I'll be sure to never forgive you so long as I live."

The idea of running into admins got the adrenaline pumping in his body even more than it already was. Kilik did want a challenge and an Aqua Administrator would've been just the taste he'd want. He flexed his fingers on his free hand and shook the anxiety out of his fingertips. Ludicolo ducked down behind a large rock, then swam out towards the island, hoping that maybe they wouldn't see him. The Pokemon did slow down substantially to keep the splashing water to a minimum. Kilik placed a finger over his mouth and motioned for him to get closer to the sand. When he was able to get off, he quickly dashed behind a rock and recalled Ludicolo as fast as he could.

His heart pounded in his throat. However, even if he did have to battle one of the men outside the door, it would be exceedingly simple. It was just a Grunt, after all.

"What took you so long?" Mike coyly remarked, inspecting his fingernails, having made it to the rock before he did. He was certain Kilik hadn't seen how he got there, but he loved surprising people like that. "So, now you know why I was so critical of those boys back there before Lilycove." The boy smirked, snapping his finger and pointing to himself. "Ninja." He laughed softly, flipping some hair out of his eyes. He couldn't be more proud (or full) of himself.

Their surroundings were quite simple. The island was in the shape of a half circle of sorts, a small beachhead that raised up a bit onto dirt and grass, and was then swallowed by an underground cave. Both sides of the beach dropped, making small cliffs on each side, the area directly in front of the doorway was the only flat surface from there to the water. The small pockets on the side provided perfect cover for the two boys.

"Alright Kilik." Mike unclipped one of his Poke Balls and readied himself. "Let's do this." The boy took off, dashing out to the front entrance where the two Grunts were walking around aimlessly. "Hello boys!" He called out, making sure they noticed him. The two Aqua members jumped, quickly turning around. Mike only imagined what was going through their heads.

"A lone Team Magma member intruding on our hideout?" One of them barked, he was a little older than Mike, and much much larger. "Ha, I knew that they were stupid, but I wasn't aware they had death wishes." He pointed a meaty finger at the Magma boy and laughed, his partner joining in.

"Hey, look." The other equally beefy guy spoke, making note of Mike's badge. "He's an Admin!" At the mention of their enemies status both young men got a devious look in their eyes and released two Pokemon, a Zubat and a Carvanha. "We'll get promoted for thrashing this punk."

Surpriiiiise it's a Zubat! Mike tossed his Pokeball up and caught it. "Good to see you Aquatards haven't lost your spark after all these years. Me and my buddy here are going to trounce you." Throwing out his own Poke Ball, Napalm was released. The Magby was a bit shaken at his surroundings, being all completely water, but could tell from his trainer's demeanor that this wasn't the time to get distracted. The little Pokemon shook himself loose, ready to fight.
