I'm not too active on DoA anymore. >_>
I agree with Kiry on with the whole 'if your mold isn't popular, it gets flushed to page 3', which is why I don't post pics any more.
I used to be a huge blabber-mouth on DoA, but I don't do that any more. Maybe once in a while I'll see a cute doll and I'll comment on it, but that's about it. Also, I stink at taking pictures, so that doesn't help...
I like DoA for its marketplace. *nods* And I RP via PM on occasion.
I like DoD for the wank, even if it's sometimes about me. I've learned to get over that fact. It's by all the wank I got that I realized how bad my dolls actually were, and I've worked to improve my faceup techniques, ie. got good supplies and have done trial-and-error stuff. Yes, they're still far from spectacular, but they're no longer goopy pain smears. I also apologize for stuff I may have said those few years ago to certain people. I was such a jerk. XP
So I'll look for new MP stuff on DoA or look at Poison/Lulz on DoD, and that's really all I do.
I prefer the local doll forum I'm on just cause I know the people irl and know the dolls, so I have a better connection with them.
As for the Gaia BJD forum, I totally forgot about it. >_>
So as far as DoA goes, yah, I like it, but it's gotten pretty big and a little to busy for me.

I like DOA well enough, I mean when I first started off I had no idea what BJDs hardly were apart from I had seen a few of them at conventions when i went and thought they were gorgeous but DOA really helped me meet people in my area locally that liked them as well,and gave me so direction as what kinds I wanted to start saving up for one (lol now several). but lately they have been getting really a**l about people chit chatting about things other then dolls. Don't they realize that site has been around for a while and people have made friends there so who cares if someone in the meet up section starts talking about their personal life or their job issues. Its a community, thats what a forum is its a place for others to meet other people that share like interests. It just seems they are getting a lil dumb with all the stupid rules they are making for that place lately. that my biggest pet peeve with the site for the moment really.

IMHO I’m only a little disappointed. Mostly because of the inconsistency of the banned dolls. they ban most Goodreu dolls because they don’t match the popular ABJD aesthetic, yet they allow the DIM Minimee which I think couldn’t be any farther away from the general aesthetic as you can go. Also I think the ban on gore is taking it a bit far (for instance I believe celebare is not allowed to post pics of most of her dolls. correct me if I'm wrong tho) posting warnings should be good enough.
As far as being able to post the OT stuff onto LJ, I have tried several times, and I simply can’t figure LJ out at all, so DoA is basically my only outlet for info and BJD goodness.
btw what do you guys mean by DoD? not "Dream of Doll" surely? EDIT: nevermind that last question. i found den of demons, but rule number 2 of the unrules is seriously contradictory

I went back to DOA after a while and right now am not disappointed.
DOA is an organized forum that has everything you need as a doll owner, from the marketplace to Company reviews, to how to make anything for your doll. You won't be in the dark there because everyone can share their experiences with you.
I can't say much about the ban, since I don't know much about the anthro department.

the albino raven i found den of demons, but rule number 2 of the unrules is seriously contradictory What? This one? 2. No pornography is allowed outside of smut. If you are seen posting a pornographic image outside of smut your post will be edited and the image removed. Smut is not a place for doll porn. If you would like to post pictures of your dolls getting it on there is already a forum, Controversial Doll , as well as LJ communities for you to post in. This does not apply to just showing off a doll body, whether it be for showing off a new sculpt or if you want to be critiqued on your blushing. THIS APPLIES TO ART POSTED IN ARTWHORE AND ANY ICON AND SIGNATURE IMAGES YOU MAY USE. It's really pretty simple. Allow me to translate... - Don't post your human porn anywhere on DoD except the one board that has been set aside for that purpose. (aka, the one called "Smut"-) - Don't post your "dolly porn" on DoD at all. That's what the ConDoll web site was created for.

I think DoA is awesome. I wish Gaia were as strict. Too many people on here get away with petty immature crap. I like the way DoA is a nice clean site. Hence the Den of Angels.

✖✖My problem is not with the rules, but with some of the members.
I own two puki pukis (one is a pipi and the other is a darjeeling), and though that thread gets a TON of posts and moves fast...it's very hard to fit in. I try to start conversations with people about their pukis to stay on-topic, and even then I often get ignored. n n;
I find that places like here, it's easier to talk to people and usually you will get a response.

I think I can see it from points of view as to why the moderators are trying to get things to not be nothing but chatter I mean they do pay to use their space and I think you can only have so much space there too.
but there are people that have been there for years and have really firm friendships with people from there, and so when someone that has been gone for a while comes back and says something on the boards that is off topic its not really that people are trying to be mean to the mods they are just showing concerns for friends. I tend not to go on un less I have actual doll topics I want to discuss.

Same here I only go to DOA only for news, I've found that its hard to get into conversation with people on that forum. Just I feel restricted, or I'll be breaking some rule if I try to start chatting with someone. >.>;;

I have to say that I'm a bit disappointed in it. I got my first doll at an anime con back around Halloween, and I don't know of anyone else in my area who's into them, so I had been looking forward to meeting others into the same thing (and perhaps getting clothing making advice since I knit and all). Unfortunately DoA's registration's been closed/invite only since I first looked in November with no indication on when it'll open back up. Ban controversies aside, I've heard wonderful things about the site but all that is meaningless if I can't join up.

I post now and then on DoA, but not excessively. And my posts are usually in the Box-Opening section since I like commenting in them and seeing how happy people are when they get their dolls. Occasionally, I post under general discussion and dolly-debate... There's too much censorship though, so sometimes it doesn't feel like I'm saying what I really want to say, because I don't want a mod up my arse about it if they disagree. Therefore, I mainly use DoA for accessing the marketplace and looking up local meetups. floyo Hasegawa_Miyuki I have to say that I'm a bit disappointed in it. I got my first doll at an anime con back around Halloween, and I don't know of anyone else in my area who's into them, so I had been looking forward to meeting others into the same thing (and perhaps getting clothing making advice since I knit and all). I wish I could get the code... But yeah, I have to say that over the years, I noticed how much favoritism there's present on DoA. Perhaps a better word would be elitism, which could explain away why there are issues with DoA's registration rules. I don't know what's going on now, but maybe you could try again? As annoying as DoA can be sometimes, it does have its valuable assets.
