They way his muscles flexed, moved, or even flinched never bothered her one bit, in fact she found him incredibly appealing. Perhaps more so because she knew if he ever aged he'd always be in top fit form. But even that was doubtful with Gaia's blessing.

Her love had gone quiet for a long thoughtful moment, it was easy to in such a beautiful place and yet his eyes seemed to linger there on her round belly. Probably in thought over the name or maybe hardly believing he was about to be a father and she a mother. His voice soft held comforting tones, she could simply listen to his voice and not hear the words but just the sound and would be content.

He pulled her into his arms as he so often made sure he did and she nestled close into him for a moment before he got up and moved behind her, his hands worked marvellous magic into sore muscles, easing the amount of energy she was spending on keeping the aches and pains to a dull minimum.

"I almost hope that he will. With discipline of course." the tigress responded at last turning to look at him from the corner of her eye, over her shoulder, a smile on her lips. "It will be good for his self confidence and his ability to protect those he loves. But.. when he grows up a little first." she purred cheerfully as his thumbs pressed a particularly sensitive muscle. "Mmm.. if you keep on like that I'll end up drifting off on you, you know."

The dolphin squirmed a bit as he was caught up in slender arms and even squeaked in surprise at the strength of the hold, Jack had him pretty securely. Curling his body, he tried poking Jack in the ribs with his beak but fumbled around the back of his shoulder uselessly. The last he wanted to do was move too much and end up hurting the playful man.

Then an idea struck him and silently he grinned to himself but his practical joke he'd wait to play for the right moment.

She may find him appealing, but he had always found her irresistible. Even with the boon of life growing within her she was graceful and elegant. Her eyes always held that stunning beauty that could silence him with a single look and take his breath away. Her lips, whether whispering sweet words to him, giving him a stern telling off, or just parted slightly in rest always seemed to invite a soft kiss, as if she always held one there waiting for him.

It was easy to go quiet here and think. Perhaps that was why he liked this place. He could just let his mind wander and it never seemed to go to a bad place. Even though he was nervous and yes, even a little bit scared, his thoughts always turned to happiness. Of course, the company helped. Her mere presence was enough to soothe him even at the worst of times.

Even now his mind wandered over the future and its possibilities. What would happen? What would he be like? How would they change? How would Ilia grow? Would she be jealous? He hoped not. He hoped they'd be best of friends when they grew old enough to play together. He chuckled at her remark that she hoped they would fight. Carefully.

"Poor choice of words perhaps. Of course I shall not mind them fighting, if they wish to. Sparring and disagreeing are completely different things after all." He smiled, nodding a little as he worked his fingers along the tense muscles. "I'm sure he'll be strong enough one day, and she'll go easy on him. At least at first. But that's a long way off. He might have a little brother or sister before he's ready for that." He smirked to himself, teasing her about already thinking forward to extending their family. He knew fine well that was the last thing on her mind. She had enough to think about with one on the way.

"And you say that as if it is a bad thing to fall asleep in such a relaxing place, lazing about in this warmth." He said softly. "I would lower the bed and have you on your front for this, but I don't think that's a possibility these days." His lips twitched into a smile. he always felt like he was smiling these days. He let his fingers continue their firm massage, sensing the muscles beneath relaxing.

--

Meanwhile Jack was having an energetic and playful time with the dolphin form of Raven. He had him held tightly, but not too tightly. He was as wary of harming Raven as Raven was of harming him, it seemed. Though that was somewhat foolish on Jack's behalf. He was not capable of such strength, despite how hard he could hug.

He laughed at the small squeaks he caused, pressing his face against Raven's smooth skin. He could feel his beak nudging him. It was good to have the DJ playing for once. Aside from the occasional prank, he was really a reserved man.

"Oh Raven! Why can't you ever play with me as a human?" He laughed, nuzzling him as he teased a little. He released him from the tight hold, but never took his arms away from him, wanting to be in constant contact with his amazing friend.

And if Kaori would hear all these kind thoughts, nay, complements that her love held for her she'd certainly blush.

It was her turn to laugh softly, "You're right, you know.. that's a quality Raven may instill in them both, his has a little sis--." her features faltered, "Had. They were close love.. even if she might not have known it, he was close to her." her next thought was that things may grow more difficult for the blond being around to witness the closeness that some siblings are blessed with. What would she do if anyone of the clan went missing? She'd go out and find them. It was a simple answer, they were family after all.

Kaori had been guilty of putting off that fact in favour of having Raven learn to open up a little and become close to those in the clan, but she knew none of them could compare for him really. Except maybe Jack.

Her eyes drifted closed slowly as the massage into her back muscles chased away such thoughts. They'd just have to do something about it later. "You're right.. I haven't slept on my front in a long time, just my sides really. Hn.. is there a washroom out here close by?"

~~

The nearly all black dolphin righted in the water his head clear of the water as Jack's comment so far going unanswered as the sea mammal seemed to maul it over. There were so many ways to interpret that comment and he took it to heart.

Under Jack's fingers, he feel Raven's body changing until the blond man was himself again.

If his thoughts ever led her to blush, that would just make the man smile wider than ever. It amused him to see a reaper so sweet and demure. She was nothing like the harsh, frightening, skeletal figure most people imagined when discussions of the Grim Reaper were brought up. Had he thought for an instant it was her waiting on the other side, he may not have fought so hard to survive on the streets as a child.

Good thing he had been unaware, or they'd never have had this moment together.

He listened with a small furrow on his brow as she spoke of Raven's sister. It was hard to lose family, he knew. And it was little things like Raven's own personal circumstances not being so different to his own that made him tolerate the blond a lot better these days. Both had watched their families slaughtered. Both loved Kaori. Both loved Jack. Besides, he loved seeing Jack so smitten. It was as if all the troubles from their teen years had been lifted from both he and his little friend.

It never really occurred to him that Raven might be pained to see the unconventional family that the clan had become. Guyy had watched him sort of being absorbed reluctantly into it through Kaori and Jack, and had just logically assumed that eventually, whether Guyy liked it or not, he would be part of their family. But of course, he did not know Raven as she did. If he knew the troubles on the DJ's mind, he may have assisted him openly, if just to bring a little peace to the lives of his friend and love.

Happily ignorant of Kaori's meandering mind, beyond the fact she seemed slightly distracted - something he assumed was fairly natural at her point of imminent motherhood - he simply smiled to himself and kept up the massage. He was even cheerful enough to speak a few complimentary words on Raven's behalf.
Mostly because the blond wasn't around to hear them.

"I'm sure he'll be able to teach them quite a few helpful things. I should really have him guide Ilia in movement. At least until you're back on your feet. I think skills like his could really improve her battle skills." He nodded as her eyes fell closed. "Last thing I want is to have to reattach another limb. She was an absolute nightmare through all that you know." He laughed softly, joking mostly. She'd done her best, all things considered.

"Washroom?" He lifted his head and paused his massage. "I don't... oh! I know there's a small building further back. The gardener used to work out of it. It probably has facilities of some kind." He remembered. Buried in the jungle, out of sight of the garden itself, was a small potting shed that had just enough to sustain a man while he worked. Including natural callings. "He used to make dinner there, so there's probably a kitchenette. And where you get one of those, there's usually a washroom."
He stood up and offered her his hand, ready to guide the way.

--

Jack's hands splayed over the soft skin of the dolphin, his cheek resting on the muscular flesh between them. He felt the animal lift and settle himself in the water, giving him an even better position to lean towards him and close his eyes. Jack really was simply enjoying the closeness they were sharing for the time being.

He sighed happily. It took him a minute to realise something was happening.

Slick skin became warmer, softer. And yet still powerful and muscular. The dolphin seemed to right itself upwards in the water. Jack opened his eyes and looked up, a bubble of warmth enclosing them and his cheeks red.

He was pressed against the naked and very human form of Raven. He gave the DJ a shy smile and moved to lift away from him before the blond got uncomfortable. He knew he was less open to contact in this form, must to Jack's complaints.
"Raven..?" he said softly and bashfully.

Yep, the lady reaper was apparently pacified these days. A shadow of what she once was, struggling with accepting her new life that just seemed so... easy. And it was as though everyone had made it easy for her to accept this sort of life.

And maybe he struggled to survive for moments like this. Fate had a funny way of leading people through their lives.

And in the back of her mind it seemed like something was waiting, that something she couldn't help to prevent was going to happen soon. Obviously other than the birth of her son. And her thoughts were also resting on how Raven was slowly accepting the clan, that was something at least.

Almost absently she listened to her love speak praises about Raven wanting him to teach Ilia different ways to move. It wouldn't take her long to learn a movement and nail it perfectly each time, Ilia would be one difficult opponent should she learn all the disciplines. Kaori was nearly frightened back then that Parvati would have done much worse damage than just hurting Ilia.. had that been anyone else... Kaori was glad it turned out the way it did. But that child of Aya's was certainly a special case, when the priestess first joined the clan, she never mentioned she was a mother at that point. Much had changed since then, but where Parvati came from was still a mystery.

Nevertheless, Kaori didn't pry into things. It wasn't that she didn't care, more it was the fact that if they wanted her to know, they'd tell her. And until then she accepted them as family she could trust. No questions asked.

She stood taking her lord's hand, it seemed like every couple of hours she direly needed the loo. Kaori sighed and smiled tiredly, she was restless and wanting the baby born already. Good signs perhaps. "Thanks love..." she murmured softly kissing his cheek affectionately and would fall into step with him as he showed her the way.

~~

At least the water took on less heat or it seemed to disperse quicker than it did in the air. That was a good thing and there wasn't anything out here that could catch on fire really, their hair was wet, but drying quickly it seemed.

The blond smirked at the thought as he stood there, a little less than chest deep in water. But then his face fell to one of seriousness, but still kept his turquoise orbs planted upon emeralds.

"The answer to your question..." he said softly, ".. is simply because I'm a cold hearted p***k and you deserve better." he sank in the water to his shoulders, but with Jack between him and the beach and his clothes, it looked like Raven wouldn't be going anywhere, even with his swimming lessons from Aya, he still didn't want to put that much effort into swimming as a human when he had a transformation that was an easy way out for him. He'd just walk out eventually but he knew not before Jack berated him for his comment.

Raven thought twice about what he was to say next, he could not say anything at all, he could use this moment to try to push the man away from him, offer to play and treat it lightheartedly, or maybe as a question that might bring them pair of them together quicker. Which that last part was out of the question. Up until now Raven had pretty much helped out his boss and friend as best he knew how to help alleviate the stress of not being able to go to the Den as often as he would like.

And in so doing Raven compromised any barriers to friendship and more. He consistently struggled internally and despite his fans fawning over him, he normally felt distanced from others. And it was that in Raven that Jack was challenging him with, without even knowing he was doing it most likely. And the only person clever enough to pull a stunt like this.. was Kaori.

It was all an elaborate distraction, he realized, of him being drawn into a new family, the clan, the kids how they all managed to get along. And somewhere along the way, he'd gotten used to it. Was a part of their family of sorts now. Distracted from thoughts of long ago and his own family and how everything had been rather untraditional growing up for him. So what to say to Jack?

"So... you said you wanted to play.... let's play." he smiled softly, nodded and held out his hands to him.

Guyy may have been somewhat responsible for her new life being easy. He did everything in his power to make her happy, as often as he could. Every need she had he tried to meet. He lived to make her smile. And yet she did the same for him, completely taming the wild murderer with a mere glance it seemed.

No longer did he hunt and kill for his own pleasure. He hunted and killed only to protect his extended family. He would have died to protect them, when once he would have slipped away and made his own escape when threatened. Until he had met the clan, until he had met her, the only person he cared about other than himself was Jack. And now, he would have killed even for Raven's safety.

He knew too that with skills like Raven's on top of what he could teach her, what her mother could teach her and what the other clan members could teach her the little android would be unstoppable in battle. He never wanted to see her damaged like that again. Just because she was not flesh and blood did not make her any less his child, after all. And what if Parvarti had been battling their son, not the robot? That had been a wake up for him. Train them all, from youth. Train them to fight. Train them to control themselves as well. Especially if their boy had powers they had not accounted for.

And he had a little insight into Parvarti's origins. Not in detail, but he had once had the opportunity to speak with the girl in private while guiding her through her anger. She had told him, in confidence, that she had come from the future. And though he burned to tell everyone what he had learned, he knew he could not. So he kept the secret of her unusual circumstances to himself. And yet, he looked forward to the day she was actually born. The chance to see Aya and Caine as new parents was irresistible. It was something to look forward to. And he had to smirk whenever he saw the couple bickering.

She stood, and he helped her up gently and gave her his arm to take. She was constantly suffering for her condition, one way or another. He smiled softly at her, the woman was clearly getting frustrated now. Understandable really. He'd even caught her cleaning up frantically before he dragged her here to rest. Nesting, he assumed. He ducked his head to take the kiss, beaming with delight.
"It is my pleasure my love. Come along, it's a short walk but it's a little winding. Mind your step." he smiled softly, leading her between the trees on a tiny trail.

--

The water was beneficial in cooling things swiftly, though Jack's hair did fluff up a little as it dried unexpectedly at his blush. He really needed to learn to control that better, he knew. Raven's amused smirk as he looked down on Jack made the little redhead avert his eyes for a moment, but his emerald were drawn back to meet turquoises easily. He did look quite bashful, but there was a hint of a hopeful smile on his lips.

But Raven looked so painfully serious, and when he spoke to suggest there was better for Jack out there, the smaller man's feminine face wrinkled softly in an almost hurt frown. He was glad he blocked to way for Raven's escape at the moment, as his hands spread across the DJ's chest.
"No, Raven no! You're not! I don't! There's no better for me, there's really not! Don't say that!" he protested softly.

Just when he'd thought Raven was making progress. Just when he was taking steps to come out of his carefully guarded shell. He'd even agreed to come on holiday with the clan, as if he had accepted that he was part of the family now. And then he had to go and spoil it by saying something like that, by slipping into his terrible habit of low self esteem once more. He was trying to push the world away once again.

And Jack was not going to let him. Raven was not escaping him, not now.

Yet even as Jack pouted and frowned at him in concern, Raven offered to play. A little taken aback his frown fell away and his expression grew softer. He looked down at Raven's hands, held out to him. After a moment's hesitation as he wondered what he was up to, he decided just to go with it. It was so rare the DJ wanted to play with him in this form, it was worth taking the offer.

Pulling his lips into a gentle smile he pulled his hands away from his chest and slipped them into his hands instead, holding him tightly.
"Yes, please? Can we?" He replied softly, gazing up at the blond with great affection and never hiding it out here.

Turning away from her thoughts she allowed her mind to go quietly blank as she absorbed her surroundings through her eyes. No matter which direction she looked there was beautiful leafy greenery and the sweet scents she remembered from long ago. Having them brought here and cultured must have cost a small fortune in and of itself.

A variety of colourful humming birds zipped about in their fascinating way, toying with Kaori's natural want of trying to catch them, it was impossible in her state and as Guyy told her to mind her step, she was brought back to attention of where she was being led. She smiled in amusement over his attention to her, this side of him was not something a person might see immediately, but it definitely came through clearly when she was around. Sometimes she even felt a little guilty, thinking that she was stealing his attention away from the others of the clan, so when ever she could, she tended to quietly make herself busy elsewhere while he tended to business at hand.

That had been increasingly harder to accomplish the closer she had come to this point and now he was never far from her side at all, worrying and fretting over her consistently. There were very few who were so caring and concerned enough to catch the details like he did, and he did so with ease. "I'm sorry Milord, I must be worrying for you, are you sensing anything I'm not aware of?"
Because back when she used to live in a society filled with families, long before her loner type life, she remembered how the lord's wives were followed by a small harem of maids to tend to the mother-to-be's needs. Kaori had been a small child back then, curious about the world, running and spying around corners in the castle.

Things had changed drastically since then, but she couldn't help but to feel she was a great cause of stress on her love, seeing as he was very protective over her. Kaori wouldn't deny it, she adored the attention, every bit of it and once more smiled softly feeling like the luckiest woman in the world yet again, just like every day, awake or asleep.

~~

The blond's fingers had risen to tuck at a strand of red hair as Jack protested against his comment, turquoise orbs wandering over the smaller man's features slowly while the redhead had his hands pressed to Raven's chest.
His hand fell away as instead he offered it in invitation to play and found the warmth that had once been pressed to his chest was now tightly gripping both of his hands. Recognizing that grip as a quiet need of not wanting to let go at all.

The soft smile had since returned to the blond's features as he slowly drew jack in a circle around him making the water ripple more so around them. Jack's reaction wasn't one that surprised Raven and he returned to the topic if just momentarily.

".. I am.. what I am Jack. ... and you do deserve better. Since you're determined to keep with me, I better learn how to treat you right. So.. you're simply going to have to demand what it is you want and need. I have zero forethought for these things unfortunately."

And perhaps now Jack would see what light Raven had meant his previous comment in. He drew the redhead close and freeing one hand from Jack's tight grip, slipped his arm around his back, letting the water rush around them in it's momentum. Incidentally, the blond was now hugging Jack with one arm, his other still entwined and he was murmuring ever so softly into his ear. Predicting the heat around them was about to rise.

"... so tell me, how is it do you want me to play.....? Or is there a game you have in mind?" the first half was highly suggestive in tone and the latter half actually sounded entirely innocent in nature, but his nose tucked down towards the corner of the redhead's jaw, letting his breathing drift over his skin enticingly.

It was beautiful in this place, thankfully. And as far as he knew, it had been very expensive and time consuming to construct such an oasis by the beach. Perfectly crafted to inspire and relax the occupants of the house. And it seemed to do the job. Watercolour paintings of various points of the garden could be found hanging in the mansion, painted by the owner's wife.

He eyed a hummingbird as it zipped past in the hunt for nectar. He chuckled to himself, knowing she would be itching to chase and capture the flitting little birds. She would probably not even harm her captives, just release them and chase them once more. Perhaps he ought to bring her back here when she had recovered from the birth. Or take some birds home for her. Of course there was the danger of the cubs eating them.

Or their son. He wouldn't be surprised.

"Hm?" He turned his head and attention back to what she was saying. She was perfectly right. He had been fretting and fussing more than usual lately. Perhaps even annoyingly so. But he couldn't help it. For the first time he could actually remember, he was nervous. And excited. He smiled down at her as she apologised and asked if he could sense anything she could not.

"Oh love. Of course I am worried. I love you, and this is all so new for us. But you do not need to say you are sorry for that. I bet I worry you too. Especially in winter." He smiled warmly, moving to slip his arm around her waist and hold her warmth close against his side as they walked slowly through the beautiful gardens. "Hm. Well, let's see. He's turned already, but you knew that." he laughed. She was more than aware that he'd been turning himself recently and was ready now. He extended his senses and sought deep within her, following every trace of heat that flowed through him. Some things were impossible to sense, but many things he could sense.

"He has ten perfect little fingers, and ten little toes." he smiled, gazing down at her and her bump as they sauntered along. "And a long spine. I might even suggest, my love, it may be as long as yours." He smirked, lowering a hand to stroke along her tail. He wasn't sure, he was curled up tightly after all. "I think he's very flexible, sort of halfway between both of us. And judging by the way his muscles connect I think he's going to be strong too." He followed the flow of his blood and smiled. "He's got a gap, right here." he smiled, reaching up to touch where Kaori's sinuses were. "He's either got your sense of smell or he's going to develop venom when he's older. Maybe both. Large lungs like mine. And ah... can you feel his heart? I've never felt a child with a heart that pumps like that!" He smiled widely. He really did have a powerful heart. His father supposed he would be high in stamina.

They were in sight of the shed now, a small hut big enough for one person to rest in for a while. It wasn't even big enough for a real bed, having a small sofa instead. He paused outside and took her hands, turning her to face him. For a moment he had a somewhat serious expression on his face as he gazed down at her. He reached up to stroke her cheek softly.
"There are some things I can't sense though. I'm worried love. What if... what if he's like me? What if the cold is deadly to him? What if he has bloodmadness?" He lowered his eyes for a moment. All of this was totally unfamiliar and unusual to him. "I.... I'm frightened." He admitted in a whisper, here where no one else could hear him.

--

He gazed up at Raven, his lips smiling a little at the soft touch of Raven's fingers on his skin as his hair was pushed back and his features caressed. The blond just knew how to make him feel warm inside. But it was almost just as good to wrap his fingers tightly in the other man's. Raven led him in a gentle circle, making Jack giggle just lightly as he bobbed through the water.

He was going to reply to the DJ when Raven released one of his hands and drew him close in an embrace, skin to skin in the cool water. Warm water now, as the colour in Jack's cheeks rose. Raven wanted him to demand what he wanted? He thought about that.

For years whenever he had wanted something, he had just taken it. Everything seemed to be offered up to him on a plate. Had he wanted he could probably just have taken Raven too. But he realised, suddenly, that wasn't what he wanted. He'd never thought deeply before about why he hung back, why he watched from a distance all those years when Raven had been the main reason he had taken the position as the Den manager. He didn't want to take Raven like that. He wanted to give himself up to the blond completely, a thought that made him blush all the more.

And Raven wanted him to demand what he wanted? Or perhaps he wanted Jack to beg. He'd never begged, not for that. He'd begged Jimmy in the past, but that was different, that wasn't for play. That was out of fear. And Raven's lips were to his ear, murmuring soft words. The effect was obvious, given how closely their naked bodies were pressed.

Oh yes, Jack had a game in mind. His favourite in fact. His eyelids fluttered low heavily and he regarded Raven through long eyelashes. His breath caught in his throat and his heart pounded. How did Raven do this to him so easily? Even when he wasn't trying to Jack felt as shy and as nervous around him as a schoolboy with a first crush. It was strange, for a man who was known as a bit of a horny devil in the Den, with an army full of fans to take to bed whenever and however he wished, to feel these butterflies every time Raven so much as brushed up against him.

Raven's breath was hot on his skin and he let out a soft whimper.

He bit his lip. He had to be brave about this or Raven would never give him what he wanted. And he wanted Raven so much. There was no way the blond could miss that right at that moment. He'd always wanted Raven, and just Raven. He turned his head, their lips brushing together in the hint of a kiss as Jack finally managed to speak in a whisper.
"Raven...?" he sighed, a low gasp of a word. He raised his free hand and wrapped it over the other man's shoulder, winding his fingers up and through the spiky blond hair as if he was going to draw him down into a hungry kiss. His parted lips grazed the DJ's lips, then cheek before settling just on the very shell of his ear.

And Jack moaned something that would have had Aya gasp in shock had she heard it. But none but Raven would ever be able to hear it, as Jack gave in to his desires finally. He was Raven's, entirely. The low moan of the words were like syrup, and the little redhead managed to pour so much passion and need into them there was no doubting how deep his lust for the larger man bubbled within him. He spoke volumes with those two simple words, pleading with him, coaxing him, seducing him and romancing him at the same time.

They rhymed with puck bee.

(( xd "Or their son." Hilarious!.. good one.))

The lady was rather quiet as she moved along with her love hugged as close as she could get and smiled as she listened to his voice rise and fall with his words, listened as he laughed every waking moment being memorized. With her love's analysis complete, she breathed a sigh of relief. So far everything was ok, she hadn't sensed anything wrong herself but Guyy's perception was different than hers and only added another element to help calm her nearly frazzled nerves.

It was but a moment before they got to the shed that he gently turned and took her attention completely, facing her, with that look he gave her, sapphires widened.. bad news? something wasn't ok baby. But what he said next changed that instant fear to a lesser degree instead of focusing on their son, the lady was focused on her lord.

"My love..." she whispered a soft smile on her lips, her fingers rose to capture either side of his features to capture his attention with a gentle kiss and a loose hug because of her round tummy. "No matter what he is or is not, no matter what he has or has not, he is a gift to us and not one to keep. He is his own and for his best possible future, that.. I will strive for. Whatever roads may come. We will find a way and Mother Gaia is always watching. We haven't heard from her in a while so I suppose things are as they should be.

"I am also frightened but I will never give up for it. Our family has grown so much, it's important to stay together, to stay safe, to not compromise our clan. But you know, there is a lot more to gain, there is a lot of love and laughs, good times and scraped knees, parties and adventures and who knows what else to experience. Sure, bad things may happen that we can't control, but that's a part of life. All we can do is the best we can."

Taking up his hands once again she led him into the shack and sat on the small sofa there taking the weight off her aching feet.
"I know it doesn't sound convincing does it.." she stated more than questioned. "We both have lived our childhoods, we've had good and bad experiences. We have survived. This baby... he deserves his chance at life too. And he is forever a symbol of our deep love for one another.

... but.. if things go terribly wrong because of him... " that dark thought flitted across her mind, she knew who to contact if she couldn't take care of the problem herself.

Kaori shook her head, "No.. I won't let that happen. He has a good soul.. and a great heart, just like his father." she smiled softly up at her love. "I want to watch him play and laugh in innocent fun... we have to keep Parvati away from him." she joked with a soft laugh, "I can only imagine those two... I better not jinx it."

~~

"Hn." the blond smiled softly, his turquoise orb slid to the camera and audience in the next moment his palm covered the lens, water and a spray of bubbles flashed just before the screen blanked in white noise. Sorry kids, story time on these two is on hold.

"He is. I know. A most wonderful gift." The snake smiled slowly, her fingers brushing across the skin of his features. He looked up at her, ruby eyes full of love for her and their growing family. He held her gently, appreciating the reassuring words she gave to him. It was hard for him to admit, but the close they had gotten to his arrival the more terrified the Shinigami Master had been growing. "I just feel so unprepared."

She was right, of course. Between them they would care for him, provide for him, and help him learn. They would guide him, should he bear the worst of their traits and encourage him to develop the best. And through it all, Mother Gaia herself considered him a grandchild. Though she had been conspicuously quiet lately. Guyy suspected she was watching to see how they coped on their own through it all. He hoped he had made her proud, and he wondered if his biological mother was watching over them as well. She would be pleased by his choice in mate, he knew.

"I don't plan on giving up on him, not at all. I'm just scared I might not be a good father for him..." Guyy sighed, allowing her to lead him inside and seat him on the small sofa. Their thighs pressed together as they held one another. "What if I can't protect him? I want him to have everything I didn't. I want him to grow up happy. I guess I'm just over-worrying that I'm going to mess it up somehow. I don't know how to be a real father, I never had one."

He smiled softly as she told him he had a good heart. His raven hair fell in front of his eyes a little as he nodded. He wanted him to laugh and play and just enjoy life for as long as he could. He couldn't help but laugh as she mentioned keeping him away from Parvarti. Suddenly, the snakeman's eyes widened and he cracked up, holding his sides as he laughed.

Technically, their son was going to be older than her.

What if he had been the one to teach her all those tricks?

"Could you imagine, he and she? Oh, what if they grow up and get married?" he had to wipe a tear of laughter from his eye. "Any child from that union would be some kind of god, I swear it. Or the devil itself." he laughed, hugging her tightly and smiling widely. She'd certainly brightened his mood. He took a moment to calm down from his laughing fit, turning to gaze at her. He rested a hand on the roundness of her belly. "There is one other thing he has though...

Hiccups." he chuckled, sensing the small movements of the child within. "Must have been breakfast."

For a moment he turned his head as if staring into the distance. Something had caught his attention, far outside the cabin. He frowned for a moment. An attack? A fire? Danger?
Hang on...

He started laughing again. It was Jack. And Raven.
"Hey, I think our bird-brains are enjoying their holiday a lot." He chuckled.

--

Jack barely noticed Raven's watery treatment of the camera. He was very distracted. And would be for some time.

--

Elsewhere on the island, a pale Chimera sat on the sand, meditating softly. After a moment a smaller female crawled up next to him and sat beside him, staring up silently. A few moments passed with neither moving.
"Can I help you, Wavedancer?" He asked in his lilting voice, not opening his eyes. The little cub mimicked his stance and drew patterns in the sand with a talon.
"Cloudchaser... is it lonely?"
"Meditating? No, not at all. I can feel you all when I meditate." The older cub smiled to himself.
"No, I mean... you're the only one your age. You're almost all grown up. And you're all alone." She sighed, drawing lazy circles. He opened his eyes and looked down at her. She really was mature for her age, and had a kind heart.
"What's really on your mind, cousin?" He asked, wondering what it was she was thinking about that she could not speak with the younger cubs with. The girl squirmed in the sand uncomfortably.
"You're a lot older than me and everyone says you know lots and lots. Um. Cloudchaser... what's it like, love? Mama and Papa were made to love each other and be mates. Like all the adults. But... what about us? Were we made to love someone too?"

Ah. Girltalk. No wonder she came to the eldest cousin. The human cousins would not know, and Boldhunter was hardly feminine. Despite being older, she was slower in emotional matters.
"I see. Come then, we shall talk. And I shall tell you all about the things I can see that you cannot." he smiled.

"And that's ok. We'll work through it. I'm a little more prepared, I've been shopping and researching, diapers and blankets we have plenty of, towels and the supplies necessary already set up and ready in that spare room away from the others at the mansion here.. but despite having the supplies and having read the books, it doesn't make up for the experience of it."

Her hand went to her belly in worry. He was her first.

"I have the very same concerns love in that I am afraid I won't be a good mother that I won't be able to protect him when he needs me to. But the best thing for us to do.. is to be ourselves no matter what. That's all he really needs." she smiled softly and paused a moment, "You know, there's children in the world that have things today that their parents didn't have when they grew up and take what they have for granted and are unhappy with their lives growing up in a safe bubble. When he's old enough, six or seven.. we should start traveling to expose him to different lifestyles, what other children live through.. those kinds of experiences may help him grow an attachment for those less fortunate and perhaps instill a want to help others. Like Raven." a soft smile came across her lips, remembering each summer away from school, how she had done that with him and he had usually loved the experiences and asked her questions about things. Perhaps she had done it specifically to show him that he was not the only one in the world with a rotten tale, to help him understand it was important to connect with others and while he may not be able to do something on a global scale, he could do things around the city to improve things here. And thus his charity work helping to build homes for people that were homeless. He didn't get paid for the construction work, he volunteered and worked tirelessly at it during construction season. Kaori was proud of him.

And she would be proud of her son too. Whatever he chose to do.

For a moment it looked like her love was hiding tears as his hair fell to overshadow his eyes, but then.. he was laughing and she smiled amused that she'd cause him to break out like so.

"Married? I meant that she's going to be teaching him some hard to dissuade games to refrain from. I suppose if they don't mind the age difference..." Of course she didn't know anything of Parvati's condition.
He raised his head just then looking towards a source of potential trouble, she waited for him to tell her what it was he sensed.

But then he started laughing again.. at this rate her heart was going to give out from potential fears.

"Whew.." she sighed deeply, "They...are? .... oh!" her eyes lit up and a grin spread across her lips. "Haha! yes!" she cheered softly. "Excuse me a moment.. facilities... while things are cheerful for the moment." she kissed his cheek as she rose and wandered into the washroom to relieve herself and freshen up, splashing cool water on her face and arms. It was a warm day, not overly muggy but the water on her skin had an excellent cooling effect that would prevent her from sweating too much making her feel sticky instead.

Returning she questioned her love, "Do you think a short swim would be ok? On our way back? Might help me feel more at ease and take weight off of certain places. It's coming around to dinner soon enough too..."

Guyy chuckled. Yes, they were prepared as far as supplies went. He'd spent enough time painting that room and building furniture to attest to that. And he'd loved every minute of the work. She had been very thorough in her own preparations, having gone through checklists and to-do lists as efficiently as any professional. He had been silently amazed at her perfectionist nature.
"Yes, we have everything we need. And I swear between us we've read the entire library's section on parenting and pregnancy. But there is no substitute for actually living it. I'm just afraid I'll screw it up somehow." He sighed, his hand and hers resting together on her bump.

"You'll be a wonderful mother. You have proved that already with the clan, and I've seen you with the cubs. You're full of love and patience for each and every one of them." He sighed happily, trying to ease her worried expression. "I guess we're both just nervous. Neither of us have ever done this before and we don't have the usual support many new parents have. No parents of our own, or siblings with children unless you count the Chimera. And most of the clan have never had young either, but I know they'll help us any way they can. We'll do our best for him, I know it!" He said brightly, cupping her hands in his. "Things will feel much less frightening after we finally meet him, I bet."

He listened to her tale about Raven's hidden side, the things she had shown him and taught him and the way it made him act now. She really made it hard to dislike the man sometimes. He smiled softly. No wonder Jack adored him. He wasn't bad at heart, just very unsocial and protective. All the same, when he and the DJ got in the same room, tempers just naturally seemed to flare. Perhaps it was just the way they had to be, the best way for them to interact. He knew Raven would never give him more than a bloody nose and he himself had already shown he would hold back his own venom. They were best of enemies.

But her words did give him an idea. He smiled and leaned back against the back of the sofa as she excused herself, continuing his conversation with her through the closed door.
"You know, when he's old enough I could take him around Durem and show him how I grew up. But that will be years away." he considered, staring at the ceiling as he spoke. "But Ilia... she's not all that young mentally now. She's catching up to the other girls. And I've kept her away from the world mostly. Maybe if she was to learn such things it might expand her horizons a lot. Teach her compassion and empathy. She might not understand hunger because she can't feel it. But she can see it, and what it does to people. And she's strong, she would be useful." He raised his head and looked up at her as she returned, lightly dashed with cooling water.

"Do you think we could convince Raven to take her along with him next time he does his charity work? It might help him out emotionally, to have a little company like her. And that way we won't have to worry about either of them feeling replaced by the baby, if they have important work to do together. How do you think he'd feel about that?" He stood up and smiled down at her, wondering about her thoughts on the matter. Maybe she might even have a better idea. And Raven really did need to learn how to socialise a bit easier. So did she, and he could teach her a lot about people, kindness and how to use her naturally athletic body.

"And yes. They most certainly are. I hope they're nowhere near the kids." He chuckled, able to feel the heat coming from Jack even at this distance. He'd be completely lost to them for the rest of the holiday now, blinded by his adoration of Raven. "And I happen to think a swim would be an excellent idea. You're carrying a lot of tension right now, it would be good to ease it. The reflecting pool?" He suggested, remembering the wide, constantly refreshed water surrounded by heavy fruit trees and fragrant flowers.

--

"What do you mean, things you can see?" Wavedancer asked as her older cousin settled into a more comfortable position opposite her, as if he was telling her a story. He took his staff from where it had been speared into the sand, the metal rings on the end jingling as he lay it down beside him.
"Lights. I can see the light within people." He explained. She nodded. They all knew of that gift of his, able to see the very souls of the people around him. He knew when someone was born or died. He knew how they felt, sometimes. He knew when they were hurt. "But that is not all I see. Lights sometimes have threads between them."
"Threads? Like vines from tree to tree?" Wavedancer's ears pricked up with interest.
"Exactly! A good image for it. Now, some of these threads are very bright and unbreakable. Like the binds between the elders. Each elder is lightbound to their mate. And I suppose they have been that way since they woke. They are strong, bright threads. And there are others on this island who have binds like theirs. Lady Aya and Lord Caine, for example. And our uncle and aunt, they have a very powerful one. I can feel Mother Gaia reinforcing that thread." he smiled. The little female's eyes went wide.

"Wow! Really?" She gasped. He nodded slowly. "How do those bonds get made? Do you have to do something?"
"I have seen some bonds form for the first time. It is different for everyone. For some there is a bright flash and the bond is instant the first time they see each other. For others it starts as a little spark that grows and grows until it is strong between two people. Those people often never realise it has happened. Like your cousin." He nodded to Boldhunter. "She is still blind to her bond. It is a very fine thread, had I not seen it form I may never have known it was there at all." He smiled.
"Boldhunter has a mate?!" The cub was stunned. "Who is it?" She turned to look at her older cousin. "Is he here?"
"I cannot tell you that. It would be wrong to tell you what she does not yet know herself. But yes, she does have a mate. Like our parents, we are bound to our mates on first sight, even if we do not realise it. Even many of the hairless ones already have threads growing." He smiled, looking to the non-Chimera children. "Some of them are very surprising."
"Do... do I have a thread?" She asked nervously, pointing at herself. Cloudchaser regarded her for a moment and then nodded gently.
"A bright one." He smiled, placing a large paw between her ears and giving her a fond ruffling. "And no, I cannot tell you who it is either. Though it is so bright that perhaps you already feel it. I remember seeing it flash into life. Your thread was the first I ever saw created you know." For one so young she really was growing up so fast. The female beamed brightly, pleased by that news.

"Does Parvarti have one too? What about Ilia and Nette and Farclimber?" She asked, full of curiosity now. Even if she couldn't ask where they led, she would at least know if they had met their soulmates.
"Parvarti does. But it is very strange. It seems to wind away and spread out as if it does not know where to go. I do not understand it." The Chimera frowned as he looked to Aya's daughter. Of course, her future love would have remained in the future where she came from, confusing the binds. "And Nette's is strange also. It seems to spark and spark as if it is trying to join but cannot. I wonder what that could mean. And sadly, Ilia lacks a light of her own. But I think one is growing. It's very small. It grows bigger when she plays with Nette. I think she may have magic within her." He smiled. "But yes, even little Farclimber has one, though his is even fainter than Boldhunter's. He is barely more than a baby after all." He explained softly.
"Wow." Wavehunter gasped again, turning to look at the others playing.

"Hmm.. Maybe, I'd like to see them build more of a closer relationship so that she's going to stick to him like glue when he does take her to the job site.." she responded casually and sat with her love once again. "Maybe send them on shopping errands and things with Jack too at first. Ilia can be a bit of a handful. Maybe once she's got Durem mapped.. It would be good for them both. But Raven won't feel like he's being replaced, he much too old for that. Don't want to alienate them too much either. There's a balance there somewhere we'll have to find and explain it all.. oohh.." her hand went to her belly, her brow slightly furrowing a moment before she smiled softly, "he's going to be strong love.. what a kick.." she laughed softly.

"The reflecting pool sounds lovely." she nodded, "A bit of relief would be great right about now." she smiled happily.

Guyy nodded in agreement as she spoke. It would be sensible for them all to build up a stronger relationship, and it would be beneficial to him as well. He knew he could trust Raven and Jack to keep Ilia both safe and entertained as they showed her around Durem. Not to mention the fact it would keep the three of them out of his and Kaori's hair during the early months when they really needed to focus on the baby to make sure everything was okay.
"No, I don't want to alienate them. But I would like to see her grow more independent. And Jack would love the chance to play uncle like that I bet. And of course, Raven might enjoy the company. It would give them both a little babysitting practise too, though I am honestly not sure who would be keeping an eye on who." He chuckled.

He looked to her with great concern, always wary these days. He'd actually been a bit worried she might go into labour before they arrived at the mansion. Or worse, in the bus on the way. But thankfully their son had been patient. As she gasped and held her belly he sensed a movement. A contraction? His hand moved next to hers and he relaxed. No, a kick. He smiled to himself. He was very strong already. He admired their child, resting his hand on her rounded stomach and waiting for the child to settle down again.
"He's a fighter. And he's restless I'd guess." Guyy chuckled, relieved. All was well.

"Come on then, let's get you into some water shall we?" he smiled and took her hands, guiding her gently off the sofa and opening the door for her. "It's only a short walk away at least. I might join you in fact. It's nice and warm today an outside pool won't be any trouble for me even if it's not heated." He nodded, letting the fragrance of the garden waft in through the open portal. He slipped his arms around her, giving her just a little support as they walked through the trees.

--

Wavedancer looked up at her cousin, head tilted to one side. she wondered what it was like for him, seeing the world the way he did. She could barely imagine what a vibrant place his world was. She was always slightly in awe of him and his insight.
"Did Zeta have a thread?" She asked quietly, her bright eyes wandering over his many scars. She wondered whether the was still a difficult subject for him. There was a pause and Cloudchaser lowered his eyes sadly.
"It was broken. He was broken. His light was dark and dull, shattered like glass." He sighed, looking aside. "Our kind cannot survive that sort of trauma undamaged. It is our greatest weakness."
"Oh. That's very sad." She nodded. Maybe she understood, for a moment, why her cousin had invested so much time in their uncle. "I wish I had met Mu. I bet she would have been really nice, like Iota."
"We shall never know, little cousin." He shook his head.

Wavedancer turned her eyes back on the other playing children. Their threads were so new, so fresh. Would they know if they broke? She suspected they would. They might not know what was wrong, but they would feel it. She raised a paw and placed it over her own heart. She had asked because she had felt her own thread tugging at her gently recently. She hadn't know what it was, but she knew it was wonderful and amazing. And she thought she might know where the other end led to, but she wasn't brave enough to say so just in case she was mixing up the feel of a mate with simple affection.

Kaori smiled at the thought that the three, Jack, Raven and Ilia would all be keeping close tabs on each other as they kept themselves company and out of their hair for a little while anyway. She really did hope things would turn out well for them all, but beyond that... they still had family to search for. Kaori felt terrible for Raven and his missing sister and regarded her bump thoughtfully.

The very pregnant tigress was however happily led away from the hut through the jungle garden once again, embraced the entire time by the light of her life and past several thick trees as they made their way to where they'd enjoy a swim. "Mm.. Thank-you for bringing me out here love, it's just beautiful and so calming.. but don't get too cold love.. " she worried naturally, she needed him now more than ever to help her, any moment could be the moment in which her water would break and she'd begin to go into labour. It was nerve wracking waiting for that moment when it was so close. Waiting for the contractions to begin...

It wasn't long before the pool lay out before them and she feasted her eyes on the decorated surroundings the air was just so aromatic and full of sweet scents. Kaori took a deep breath and sighed deeply and smiled, this was just awesome.
