"Well forthe purposes of this ball, an escort is another pony, usually male, who goes along with you. They are there to make sure you have a good time and to protect you from those who would seek to harm you or your reputation." Eurusa smiled, still unsure of who her escort was going to be.
"So basically it's a glorified watch dog." Aquaria glared. "I think I can handle myself well enough to keep my reputation in tact. I've never lost a fight with any of my brothers." Aquaria pulled her leg up, cracking a series of joints in her leg, much like a person would crack their knuckles.

"Oh..." Amara said softly glancing down. "I do not think I want a watch dog."
"Don't worry, Amara," Delilah reassured her resting a gentle hoof on her shoulder. "We'll stick together. In any case, I do not think you have to worry about your reputation, not when you have that natural armament afixed to your head."
Amara blushed slightly, "The women of my kind were always so few, mother nature gave us a way to protect ourselves."

Aquaria jumped up. "Yeah, that thing is so cool! I want one!" She looked down and saw that she was still in the black dress. "I don't think it would go with this dress, though...hmm. Satine, do you still have that garter thing?"
Eurusa laughed. "Aquaria, are you always going to be so rough around the edges? It's going to take someone a lot more adamant than I to improve your manners."

"Now, you strap this thing around your thigh like this...right?" She secured the garter in place on her thigh, checking in the mirror that it was slightly visable at the slit in her dress. "And the other band goes around your neck?"
Eurusa slipped out to try on the silver dress. When she came back in she saw the garter on Aquaria. "Are you seriously going to wear that? I'm not so sure that it's appropriate for a ball..." She looked at the others for some support on this one. Aquaria wasn't going to give this garter business up easily, she could tell.

"Maybe Eurusa's right," Delailah pitched in seeing that Satine wasn't going to be of any help. "'I mean, wearing something like that may attract a kind of attention you don't want..."

"I suppose that it could." Aquaria crinkled her nose in thought. "But it's fun to wear, and this ball is about having fun, so that makes it okto be a little wild and crazy...doesn't it?"
Eurusa mouthed a "thank you" to Delilah. "You don't want to appear trashy, dear." She glanced over at Satine. "Er, well, I mean worn in good taste, garters are not bad, but for a ball I just don't think they're...well, kosher."

"The ball is being held in honor of the sons of a deranged genius, a demon, and a dragon," Satine reminded the others. "I don't think kosher applies to this situation. But, of course, if you don't think the young lady should be wearing such things, I'm afraid I'll have to ask for it back," Satine said moving beside the girl. "Then again," she added lowering her voice to a whisper only the girl could hear. "It you want it back, just talk to me later!"

Aquaria's eyes narrowed. "Eurusa! Since when did you start ruling my life? Last I checked, I was an adult, capable of making my own decisions. If you keep it up, I'm going to have to thump you." She handed the garter back to Satine. "I'll find you later, anything that upsets Eurusa that much has to be fun to wear." She wispered it, trying not to move her lips too much.
Eurusa met Aquaria's glare with one of her own. "I don't think upsetting my family would be benefical to you. We make up most of the herd..."
"Your family does not run the herd. Do not mess with me. I will do as I wish, I am in no way your charge. Let me put it in your language: If you persist in your degrading behavior, I will be forced to enlighten you on the manners of ladies. Kapiesh?"

Amara made an audible gasp. It was never proper to talk to the elders with such disrespect. Afterall, they were there to help and guide their people. Certainly Eurusa only wanted what was best for the girl.
Satine turned her head quickly to hide her wide grin. Oh yes, this liked this girl. Though she was young and seemingly naive, she had her own strength of will. She could only hope her spirit would not be broken.

Star Catcher sighs a bit and peers around, why had she decided to come in the first place. It wasn't helping her that every pony present was too preoccupied to socialize and converse. Her ears flicked to and fro, and it wasn't helping that she felt a bit awkward and lonely, she wondered if this was even worth showing up to.

Macaan grumbled. "You're mother wants you to go, I want you to go and you're going. We are going to shop for clothing for you..."
Starlight growled. A ball sounded like a horrorendous idea. That's where people fell in love and she wasn't ready for that.
Her father only growled back.
