Meh, I'm just telling you what I found.
sweatdrop Although, I could'vejust run into the only people in the area that disliked the movie, knowing my luck...
PostPosted: Sat Jan 08, 2005 2:43 pm

I didn't dislike it! But I thought it could've had many more similiarities to the book.

For an actual movie mistake: In the train scene, Count Olaf planned to kill ALL of them. How would he get the fortune?

And the time frame can be anything from the 1930s to present day. I'll say in 1990's.

Place: Although I would prefer it were somewhere else, it must be america.

First of all, it can be any english speaking country. England, America, Australia, Canada. And many others, but those seem to be most likely. I also put them in order of likelyness without my next point. (Except for Australia and Canada, I kept changing them around. But eventually I only put Australia in front because Canadians speak other languages to.)

Now, the next point. Metric system. Obviously judging by Klaus's time in Ms. Bass (I think that's her name), it didn't seem at all that the country in question actually used the metric.

So Austalia and England are booted. I'm not sure about Canada though.

And somewhere in the book it said mom. Instead of mum, which England and Australia say(still not sure about Canada).

And America is much more likely than Canada, so buh.

I think (just a guess) that Olaf planned to kill all of them in the car because he just obtained guardianship over them, and wasn't completely familiar with the law. He just found out that he wouldn't get the fortune if all of them died during the "Wide Window" part of the movie in the boat, so my guess is he didn't know that the fortune wouldn't go to him.

Personally I liked the whole no-time-frame part of it. There's no specific time frame in the books either, so they had to kind of wing it.

Hmm, you may be right.

And I also like the no time-frame part.

what really bothered me was klaus didnt have glasses domokun

He has glasses for reading, however, he is seen with them sparingly. I am most bothered by this fact. Also, I find it depressing that Sunny could magicaly walk. Although, her ability to walk hurried the action. There should not have been three books compressed into one movie. The movie hardly did justice to the prose of Mr. Handler.

Note: Most Canadian is similar to the English (and I suppose Australian) ways of doing things. They say mum (at least the ones I know), and use the metric system. America is just weird.

Yeah...and they can't make a movie with the 4th book if Klaus doesn't have glasses. gonk

Klaus is seen with glasses, however, it is rare in the movie. You are right that they could not make the fourth book without Klaus' spectacles.

Are you saying that they should make thirteen movies? I'm sure the cinema companies and non-readers but movie-goers would dearly love that.

Congrats, you just said what everyone else already has. Anyway, I have to agree with the 13th one. At school and a couple times in the street people say that I should have been Klaus. I look MUCH more like him without makeup than Liam Aiken. Too bad I never knew where the auditions were crying . If he gets super famous in the future I'm killing everybody! Plus, then I'd get to meet Jim Carrey and possibly Daniel Handler.

I'll tell you all again: KLAUS DID HAVE GLASSES, they were just reading glasses. Had he not had glasses atall, it would have been TRULY devistating.

You're wrong, V.F.D was first mentioned in the 5th. And did anyone notice the word 'VFD' on a book near the start?

I agree, all those points have been brought up about twenty times already so I won't go into debate about them again. Anyways, I personally liked Liam Aiken, even if he didn't look the way I pictured Klaus. I thought he did a good job with the character and the acting, like I've said before, it's not all about physical ressemblance.

I did.

Also, Somber Star, you have to get over some of those things. Did it ever occur to you that this was supposed to be a kid's movie and can't be FIVE HOURS LONG? Also, it was a baby playing Sunny-who is a baby. I don't think it'd be easy to get a baby to wear fake teeth.
