Marcus woke up a few hours later. He smiled at Kimiko. "Well I don't think there is a better way to wake up than looking at your beautiful face" He looked into her eyes, "Did you get any sleep?

Kumiko looked down and smiled at him, but the smile didn't reach her eyes. The crease between her eyebrows was still there, and there were slightly darker skin spots underneath her eyes. "No... I didn't really sleep." She mumbled, looking away and outside of a window.

Marcus sat up and kissed her. "Are you alright, love?" He looked into her eyes, his own eyes full of worry. "Are you feeling ok?"

Kumiko nodded absently, her eyes distant, as her mind continued to think about everything. "Yeah. I'm feeling okay... I think..." Her voice sounded small, and she still felt utterly alone.

Marcus put his arm around her. He held her close, saying nothing. He put his free arm around her waist. He rested his chin on her shoulder.

Feeling him hold her slowly brought her back. Kumiko stopped thinking about what it would be like without Marcus and Sean now; she stopped thinking about her parents, who were a mystery to her.
As she wrapped her arms around Marcus, her body began to shudder as she fought back the tears. "Oh, Marcus..." She sobbed out.

"Shhhh. Let it out, honey. Cry or talk about whatever is on your mind, whatever you need to do." Marcus said softly. "You know you can tell me anything, right? I'll always be here for you."

Kumiko spent a few minutes in his embrace, just sobbing. So many years of uncertainty; even the possible idea of the lonely years that could've been ahead of her came out in a rush of her tears.
After she calmed down, and her tears were reduced to hiccups, she began talking.
"While you were sleeping... I was thinking about the wedding-- our wedding. It made me wonder who was going to walk me down the isle, and give me away to you..." She sniffed softly as she wiped away a tear that was running down her cheeks. "It made me think of my parents... And how I don't even know them, or what happened to them..." She took a deep breath as she continued on.
"And that made me think about the possibility of you and Sean... Not coming back from the war." Her body trembled as a new wave of tears began to rush to her eyes. "I just--... I just felt so alone..."

Marcus wiped the tears from her eyes and smiled warmly at her. "Well you arn't alone. You never well be alone again. I promise I well always be with you. And..Well if it makes you feel any better, I don't even have parents, being the first of my kind and all..."

Kumiko gave a soft nod, sniffling once again. "I'm sorry, Marcus... Its just that one thought led to another, which just kept on going..." She sighed as she snuggled closer to him, burying her face in his chest. "I didn't mean to ruin such a wonderful moment..."

"Nah" Marcus said before hugging her tight. "You didn't ruin a thing. I'm glad ya told me. Better to cry than hold it in, I say." He released her from his hug and smiled at her, "Now, shall we go tell Sean" Marcus was getting a little excited. Marcus was planning something big for her.

Kumiko wiped away the last of her tears and smiled widely at Marcus. Her fangs glistened in the light. "Yeah! I bet he's gonna be excited that we're finally engaged!" She let out a small fit of laughter, imagining Sean letting out a howl of erxcitement, twirling her around and slapping Marcus on the back. "Can we go tell him now?"

"Of course we can, my dear Kimiko!"Marcus said in a booming voice. He jumped to his feet and held his hand out to her. "Sean is on his throne, I should think"

Kumiko took his hand, and smiled once again. "I should hope so! He needs to be ruling his Kingdom with fair judgement, now that he's back." She began to tug softly on his hand. "C'mon! He'll be ecstatic when he finds out!"
