Riku turned and smiled his quicksilver smile. "Right. It'll be fine, Kairi. That looks okay," he added, setting the craft down in an empty alley. The purr of the engine stopped, and he got to his feet, pausing to grab the map. "Alright; the building is only a few blocks away."

She opened the door and stepped out streching slightly. In the back of her mind, she made a mental note to get more sleep.
"Come on you lazy bums." She called with the same not so genuine smile.

King Mickey entered the building once again, and ran up the stairs, calling, "Akiko, I think they'll be here any minute...why don't you come with me?"

No answer. He kept going, and eventually reached the room where he'd left her. "Akiko...?"

No one was there.

She couldn't have... the King thought. No, no, don't panic, she probably just went to explore the building. But he couldn't help feeling pretty apprehensive as he ran through the building, checking every floor and calling out.

---

Akiko collapsed onto the floor and smiled. That wasn't...so tough...

Well, she had a few bruises...okay, a little more than that, and they hurt like crap. But she'd beaten them...she'd beaten some heartless. And all she'd really done was swing around randomly because she didn't know what she was doing.

Her heart was still racing, but she breathed a few deep breaths and stood. There was no point staying here. Everyone was...gone.

Wind blew through the open door and pushed a little piece of paper towards her. Akiko bent to pick it up.

A ticket. To a concert from her favorite singer. On her birthday. Today.

It all felt so unreal and silly now. Akiko couldn't help laughing. But then she tucked the ticket into her pocket and walked back outside, heading for the building again. She winced all the way, but it was all worth it with the sense of pride she felt...even if they had only been Shadows.

Sora ran ahead of her, to the entrance of the alleyway, peering out onto the street. He turned back, his eyes shining. "This is crazy! Come look, Riku!"

Kairi laughed as she followed him wondering what new thing could have amazed him this time.

Riku shut the door, then followed, stepping past Sora onto the street; he was right, this was crazy. The lights were almost blinding, the buildings so tall that Riku was half convinced they extended into the clouds, but..." It's way too quiet," he said softly, his green eyes narrowing fractionally, "Heartless. Keep your guard up." This last bit was mainly directed toward Sora, who was still staring in undisguised wonder at the lights. He started off along the sidewalk at a relatively fast pace.

Kairi nodded before following Riku. She knew that he was more likely to know where he was going.
"Come on Sora. I want to end this as soon as possible." She called back to him.
Her voice seemed to echo in the silence.
"It is too quiet." She thought.

Sora tore his eyes away from the lights and followed the other two, his wonder giving way as what felt like angry butterflies filled his stomach. Riku was right; it was too quiet. Kairi's voice cutting through the silence was enough to make goosebumps prickle up and down his arms. It was, of course, often quiet where the heartless had been, for obvious reasons, but here it was somehow much more unnerving, maybe because this was clearly a bustling metropolis under normal circumstances.

Kairi stuck close to Riku as Sora caught up. Something about that place sent chills down her spine and she didn't want to be alone.

Sora caught a glimpse of something, some movement on the opposite side of the street, out of the corner of his eye and spun toward it, fully expecting to see several heartless at the very least; instead he saw a girl about his age emerging from a smaller, intersecting street. He breathed a sigh of relief, and not only because she wasn't a heartless. The eerily quiet and deserted streets were threatening to fray his nerves badly. He suddenly noticed the way she was walking, like her body was one big bruise, and hesitated. Calling out was a bad idea; it would alert any heartless in the area of their presence.

Akiko kept walking, tempted to just sit down so everything would stop hurting.

"Only a bit farther..." she sighed with a relief as the Square-Enix building came into view, and walked with renewed strength.

but then three figures came into view that made her stop in her tracks, her mouth gaping like she was some kind of idiot.

Sora, Riku, and Kairi. She'd known they would be coming. But nooo wayyy.

C'mon now, stop acting like one of those stupid fans of actors and singers and stuff, you hypocrite.

But she just kept staring.

She was standing stock still, staring at them. Growing increasingly uncomfortable, Sora didn't notice that he was falling behind the others until he was several yards behind. "Guys," he began softly, "We might have a problem."

Holy crap. Sora had noticed her, was staring at her staring at him, and had now probably just told his buddies about her weirdness.

Akiko snapped out of her pose and started looking everywhere but at them, but didn't really know what else to do. Should she go up to them? Or keep going on her way? Or just continue standing there like an idiot?

"I see her," said Riku calmly, despite the fact that the girl's gaze was making him nervous as well. Why was she just staring? Not attacking, not approaching, just staring. If he'd been by himself he might have... but Kairi was worrying him and he didn't want any unnecessary complications.
