Shin was done with his share of the work but others were still getting their tasks done. It would probably be some time until everyone was done so they could eat and move on to more training exercises. So Shin was going to be bored for a while unless they moved unbelievablely fast or he found something to do with his time. Seeing as this was not his home and it would not be best to do anything without permission, it was going to be hard to find something to do. A huge bummer.
As Shin sat racking his brain for something to fill his time, he felt a little tingle in his pants, so he went down the hallway towards the bathroom. A few minutes later as he was washing his hands, he heard sounds coming from further down the hallway. All the other students were in the other directions, so the sounds must be coming from their sensei. Walking further down the hall, Shin found a room where their sensei was working on reducing a training dummy to shreds. He was fast and smooth making a careful strike that just happened to be off in some unknown fashion. Shin admired the katana, a lovely piece of work. He'd held many such weapons in his hands but his training was mediocre. His people had given up sword training to perfect their craft of making them, trading battle for business. He would not make the same mistake.
Coming into the doorway fully, Shin greeted his teacher. "Hello sensei, I see you are hard at work perfecting your sword technique. Could I join you? The blades have always fascinated me and I want to more my training from more than just forming them but wielding them. My family has long given up on such a thing, but I do not want to turn my back on such a beautiful art such as that of the sword."

Kira nimbly climbed back up the stairs and proceeded to the nearest box, trying to lift it up. However...he had picked it up from the wrong angle and twisted his wrist. Involuntarily, the boy flinched, and dropped the box on his toe. The only thing preventing the Hyouton carrier from howling out in unsuppressed pain...was his pride...which hanged in there. Gulping slightly, Kira bent down...and proceeded to try again. Goodness...what in the world did Sensei have in these boxes?!

She pressed with verying pressures on the wood and the roll. She could feel it compacting and she was happy that it seemed she was doing it right now. She kept pressing until she was sure there would be not problem removing the wooden support. Vesimine took away the light weight wood and placing the roll back onto the cutting board she picked up the knife. She carefully brought the blade back down and tried to cut all the way through on the first try.

'I did it!' Vesimine mentally cried. She got the piece cut all the way through on the first try. She left it alone and proceeded on to the next. It wasn't easy but it was worth it. She couldn't wait until she saw the look on everyones faces. She and Jericho had spent a long time on this meal and it was turning out very well. She kept a steady hand and continueously brought the blade down in a gental arch.
Roll = 13+0=13 {Pass} 2/6
She would hurry, but not so much as to affect the state of the food. Jericho had long since left the kitchen and she was curious as to what they were up to. If she got done quickly she would even have enough time to mix up some more poison to put in her food or drink. Vesimine paused only barefely before shaking her head. No, no poisons tonight. She needed to be in great shape for tomorrow.
Roll = 3+0=3 {Fail} 2/6
She could not be late for school tomorrow. She would do some more poison work when she knew it wouldn't effect her school or training. It could be a while but she couldn't let herself fall behind because of her own other obligations. She would just have to find some other way. Vesimine sighed before looking down at the cutting board. She noticed she had stopped cutting and started up again.
Roll = 7+0=7 {Fail} 2/6

[Guys, uber sorry that I posted then didn't post. I didn't anticipate the randomness of internet availability...]
This time, the charge was... acceptable, but certainly not perfect. Nothing was perfect, after all. A clean cut suddenly appeared on the dummy's side, slashing right across the middle of the bullseye that marked a vital area. The action was very quick and it wasn't long before Sensei was in his original position, looking for all the world like nothing had just happened.

Sensei was in the middle of his next charge when he was suddenly aware of a couple of his students watching him. He still made the stroke, of course, but his concentration was off. But wasn't that the point of training, so that your strokes were accurate even when you were under stress?
At any rate, Sensei turned to face his students with a decidedly sour expression that quickly turned into neutral again. "So..." he said, "you've finished I see? What about you, Ericsson? Who else is done?"
Sheathing his sword again, Sensei made his way out of the training room and placed his katana back into its place on the wall. "I will gladly train you in the art of the different blades, but the katana is my specialty. If you want to master a different blade you'll have to go to someone else," he said to Shin in the meanwhile before going to freshen himself up in the bathroom. After that, he walked to the living room.
"Are my boxes that tricky?" he commented wryly, before turning to Vesimine. "Fuyu, how's the dinner coming along?"

Jericho nodded as sensei spoke to him. “Yes sir, I have completed preparing my portion meal. Any type of weapon training you could give me would be awesome, it all seems so cool.” He said with a smile as he examined some of the katana on the wall. I wonder how he can afford all of this expensive stuff, and then just throw away so many boxes of more stuff. Jericho thought to himself as he continued to examine different katana on the walls.

Vesimine could hear Sensei from another room but didn't really pay any attention to it until it started coming closer. She listened as she brought her hand up and down. She had to restrain herself from closing her eyes. She had always fallen asleep to the sound of people's voices growing up as they were suppose to be awake. She could pick out anyone of her family members - not by their voice - by the vibrations of their tones across the floor boards.
Roll = 16-0=16 {Pass} 3/6
Sensei entered the living room and Vesimine stopped herself from turning as she continued to chop. When he spoke to her she didn't look over her shoulder but continued at a steady pace. "Forgive me Sensei but this choping is harder then it looks. I think I've found the right way to go about it, but I can't be sure. It will, unfortunatey, take a few minutes yet." She sighed a little and tilted her head back to smile at him. She cut herself.

Still no go. The box still won't leave the ground. Instead, Kira fell backwards again from using too much force, hitting his head on the concrete floor. With a growl, the boy pushed himself up, rubbing the bruising lump while glaring fiercely at Sensei. "Haha, very funny..." He grumbled though gritted teeth, before trying to heave the box up again. His face would literally turn red for a moment. Well...guess physical work wasn't really Kira's high point. And it was quite obvious he was forgetting to breath while trying so hard because about right now, Kira's red face was turning blue.

With a irritated grunt, Kira finally managed to force his second box off the ground. However, to those watching, they would see him teether dangerously down the hall...to the stairs...down the stairs. There was suddenly a loud crash, followed by an enraged howl. Kira may have successfully made his way down the stairs, but the heavy box fell on his toe in the last step. Kira angrily scowled and kicked the box with his unhurt feet, stubbing his other toe as well. Well...that certainly did no miracles on his temper.

Well...Kira guessed it was a bit fortunate that he managed to pry the third box off the floor and transport it down the stairs without much trouble. Now...he had three more boxes to go. Halfway done with the assignment. Pretty good. Not! But...his toes hurt like hell. What in the world did that teacher have in those boxes? Rocks? Well...not like he really wanted to know. T-this! This could count as child abuse! Oh wait...Kiri didn't have child abuse laws... 600 years ago Academy Students could kill each other... Damn.

"Oh, that's fine Fuyu. I'm looking forward to it," Sensei said to her and gave her a rare, but still small smile.
He then watched Kira struggle with the boxes for a while and wondered if they really were that heavy. He himself could lift them without much effort... training really did make a difference, huh... A little bit of alarm crept into his voice as he said,
"You should try to alter your posture a bit, Fubuki. Use your legs a bit more instead of straining your back, when you lift up the boxes..."
He then turned to Jericho. "Well then, you can come to me with Takamura here. I guess that it does have a certain allure to it... when you first start out, at least," Sensei admitted. "It takes a long time of practice, though. What size are you planning to train with?"

Vesimine was relived that Sensei didn't appear to be upset with her and she let out a small breath as she ran her hand under the water. She was about half way done, and could only hope the rest came easy. Somehow she doubted it but she wouldn't admit that out loud. If she focused she might be able to get it done relitively soon. She rolled her eyes and went back to the cutting board.
Roll = 3-0=3 {Fail} 3/6
She picked up her knife and after adjusting the roll she brought it down. Vesimine smiled happily as it cut clean but she kept in mind that she still had a ways to go. That didn't matter though because she would get this done in a timely mannor. She was making everyone wait and that was unexceptable. She refocused herself and settled in for a change of pace, she would complete this.
Roll = 10-0=10 {Fail} 3/6
The roll was done and so she began to pull together a second. Vesimine took this new roll and placed it in the wood. She pressed and rolled, alternating from one to the other as she tried to get it to stay together. She was pleased to see that it looked and felt solid and thus she removed it and began to cut. ...Stroke ...stroke ...stroke, it was repetitive but it was fast and she didn't have to worry about cutting herself.

Jericho shrugged. "Didnt know they came in different sizes, I will go with whatever you suggest, you two definitely know more about this stuff then I do." He said very nonchalantly. "Your right though, weapons do seem like they would be a lot of fun, and they seem like they would be good to know how to use." He said with a smile. I have never seen anyone use a katana before, my dad only used to use a battle axe, and I never saw hawk with a weapon....

Shin followed the sensei as he walked back towards the entrance of the abode where some were still working. As the sensei went around inspecting the chores still incomplete, Shin evaluated the display of katanas on the walls. All were balanced, all we sharp but some were larger and longer while others were shorter and smaller. He caught a glimpse of another student doing the same though shin was not sure what this other guys was simply browsing or really looking. It seemed that this boy's, that Jericho's intent was genuine as he too asked for sword training. Good thing too for Shin did not think he could be able to progress as well if it was only him and their sensei working on their swordsmanship. More people meant experience with more styles of swordplay. As the teacher phrased a question concerning the type of katanas they would like to learn, Shin refocused his attention and answered the question. "Although the speed of smaller blades is definitely an asset, I favor a katana with more bulk to it for more damage in each blow landed."
