"alright then." he began skinning the boar down to it's meat then cooked it over the fire. soon after the meat finished cooking he handed him some meat. "here you go."

Ben took the food he offered him and stopped working on the machine. He took a seat beside the fire and grabbed a jug so he could have some water while he ate. "You did good tonight. Didn't burn it. I take it you never cooked back where you were from."

he shrugged a bit. "not really. my girlfriend usually cooked. mostly cause wont let me really."

"I can see why she wouldn't sometimes." He ate and looked at the fire a bit. He didn't want to say anything that would hurt him, but knew that he had to be prepared. "Look... You do know that you've been gone for about eight months... Are you prepared for the worst if you do make it back?"

he knew that this would come up and he thought about this all the time. although he was taken away, she didn't know that. to her, it would seem that he left out of nowhere. he could only imagine what kind of impact that would have on her. "all i know is that i have to get back to her. as long as she's ok then i can have some relief.. if she doesn't want me when i get back though.. i'll just have to accept it."

He nodded and continued to eat. "You going to accept it easily? I just don't want you going back and doing something rash." He picked up the water jug and took a drink.

he ate his meat and took a drink of water then let out a sigh. "haveing me dissappear just like that must be painful for her. i can't just force her to take me back but.. i really dont know what i'll do with myself if i cant have her."

"You think she found someone else and moved on?" He wasn't wanting to bring this up, but he knew that he had to make him think about this so he wouldn't be that hurt when he got back.

he nodded a bit and this was also something he thought about. "that could be true. if that's the case, if she's truly happy then i have no right it take that away from her."

This one question was going to be one that might be the upsetter. "What if she's... Gone?" He didn't want to use the word 'dead' because he felt it would be too strong, but hoped that he would catch onto the meaning he was trying to get across.

this is something that scared him the most. he went a bit quiet and looked at the ground. "if that's the case.. i couldn't live with myself any longer."

Ben finished his food and leaned against the wall of the cave. "Well, let's hope for the best. I'm not about to get you back home if you're just going to die soon after."

he finished his food but stayed quiet. he felt himself get lost in his thoughts. he truly missed mari. being taken from her for this long was the greatest pain he ever felt.

He seen that he was thinking to himself and figured that he would let him do that. He got up and went to work on the machine some more before going to bed. He was close to finishing it, closer than ever. Once it was built, he would have to start using it to figure out the code to get them out of there.

he soon went to bed and fell asleep. in the morning he woke up and sat up. he took a drink of water and rubbed his eyes.
