Motoko looked away and frowned her fur bristling in annoyance and unhappiness. The boy is making it seem as though I am asking him to leave Di'jai for crying out loud!!! Here I am, being nice and putting up with him for a bit... and there he goes getting clingy... I don't even LIKE having company! EVER! Let alone company from an annoying little bug that just doesn't want to let go! She released long sigh from her clenched jaws and looked down at the pup, "Trust me... with my luck you'll end up being my neighbor..." Motoko thought about what she said and chuckled at her own joke. She then coughed and continued her little mini rant, "And how do you expect to ever become an elder some day if you whine like a child and can not master your self-control?! Now scat kid... I've important things to think about..." She turned her head away before his puppy eyes could affect her and said lastly, "And as I said... with my luck I will bump into you again sooner... not later..." And with that, Motoko meandered off, hoping the boy would just disappear...

Lance watched. He still felt disappointed, but... He forced himself to smile. Thinking over what she said, he realized that maybe he needed to let her go. If that's the way she thought about his reaction, perhaps he was going about this the wrong way... "Alright! I will meet you again though... I promise! Count on it!" His forced smile turned into a grin. Now he was fired up! He ran off before she could object. Lance wasn't the type to give up quickly... Not ever.

He had done it. The small dragonfly pup who had always shouted about becoming an elder had actually succeeded into becoming an elder. Perhaps all the determination had pulled it off? It was hard to say exactly what it was, but he wasn't the same pup he had been before. He stared down at the river which he had moments before had been practicing some of his powers with. He really had become an elder with a connection to water. Sometimes, if he closed his eyes, it even felt like he could hear water speaking to him. Not exactly in words, but in a different way that only he could understand. He closed his eyes for a moment just so he could hear the water once more... There was still a lot about his power he couldn't grasp understanding of yet. He was still a fairly new elder after all.

There was one person he knew that might be able to help him, but he wasn't sure if he should go back and see her yet, or even if he could find her. He would definitly have to find her one day though, just to thank her. He probably wouldn't be an elder right now without her help. "I wonder if she changed at all too...."

Motoko prowled through the forest grumbling to herself, as usual. The wind ruffled her fur and sent an annoying chill through her body, which was to be expected as well. The sun glared down at her from above the trees over head and made her pelt feel heavy and suffocating, this was expected as well. A proud stone wolf padded alongside her, stopping every once in a while to scent the air with a nose that didn't really work... everything was annoying, and this was all to be expected. She was in a 'mood' again, but then, maybe it was more of an "occasion" when she wasn't in a 'mood'. She wanted to be alone, and at the same time, she was hoping that maybe something out of the ordinary would happen. Walking forward without paying attention to where she was going or who was in the area, it was to be expected that Motoko did not notice the sound of rushing water up ahead, or the scent of a familiar somebody.

Lance turned away from the river and stretched out. He had been sitting around too long,, concentrating on his powers, so his body ached. Now he longed to get up a move around. Lance made a decision to go on a hunt. He wasn't hungry, but tracking something down would be fun. Lately he had been snacking on fish since he could easily get whatever he wanted from the water.

The male raised his nose into the air and took a wiff. Some deer had been near the area, that was a possible choice, but his trail of thought traveled away from the deer when something familliar came to him. His eyes widened and he took smelled again. It couldn't be... could it? He looked around and smiled. Was she really here?

Motoko prowled through the undergrowth a bit like a zombie, not watching where she was going, not absorbing any of her surroundings. When her precious stone bird, Sitari, had been "alive" before the great war against the darkness, Motoko could do this often without worrying about anything; Sitari had always been there to look out for her. But now the bird was gone, destroyed, and Motoko had no one to snap her out of her trances. The stone wolf was no help, it didn't contain a piece of Motoko's soul like Sitari did... and now Motoko was afraid of putting her soul into her creations anymore, she didn't want to get hurt again.

But, none of this was running through Motoko's mind at the moment. If anything, her mind was completely blank, like a walking meditation. She shouldered her way through the trees and stepped to the bank of the river. The moment she felt the water beneath her feet, she grumbled blankly in disgust and swerved away from the water, walking along the edge of the river. She hated water.... And yet, not even that snapped her out of her trance. No, she kept on walking, slowly, staring right in front of her paws, not noticing the familiar body not so far from hers...

Lance followed the smell, his feet carrying him a bit faster every inch he got closer to the source of it. His smile turned into a grin as the one he had been expecting his trail to lead him too was in sight. His quick pace turned into a run. "Teacher!" He called out in childish excitement. Even though he was a full grown and even an elder, Lance never did lose the childish bursts of excitement he had when he was younger.

Before he jumped on the older elder, it did occur to him that he was too big for that lucky. He shoved his front paws into the dirt in the last second to slow himself down to a halt before ramming into the other and skidded to a hault. He stopped a few inches in front of her, still wearing that grin of his. Finally, he was seeing her again, after all this time.

Motoko heard nothing, noticed nothing, and simply continued on her way. Even when the high pitched screech of "Teacher!" rang through the air, nothing happened other than a flick of an ear and a continuation of her plodding. It wasn't until the boy was right under her nose and she walked into him that she realized she was no longer alone. Motoko bumped gently into something fluffy and soft, and frowned, stepping back and blinking herself out of her trance. As her eyes finally focused, Motoko yelped and nearly jumped out of her skin, leaping back a few yards with an annoyed snarl. "What... who... How dare you get in my way!" she dropped into a crouch and growled, "Move or I make you move...." She frowned and took a deep breath, the scent was familiar, but the body was much to big for the image that came to mind. The frowned, not the least bit curious about why his scent was so familiar... things that reminded of her past tended to turn out to be very unpleasant...

Lance's grin fell a little. He couldn't believe what he was hearing. Was she kidding him? Yes, that had to be it. Seriously, it had been long, but not that long, right? "Ah come on, teach. I know I was a little annoying when I was puny, but it doesn't hurt to say hello now right? You remember me! You helped me be an elder. Just look at me! I've been wanting to thank you for so long..." His face fell into a frown as he stared at her for a few moments. He stood up straight and didn't move away. There was something wrong here. She looked too serious. "Come on teacher... You're joking, right? I'm not going to keep you from where you're going... I just want to talk for at least five minutes. Please...."

Motoko froze as the enemy elder began to talk... was.... was this actually something from... from one of her pleasant memories?! Did she even have such a thing?! Motoko blinked a couple times and let her fur lay down flat, but her snarl and defensive stance did not budge a bit. Then suddenly she remembered- the child, the little boy she had watched grow up, the one who's life she had spared even when he had become an adult. He was annoying and talkative, and though the voice was deeper and older now, it still hit that note that grated inside Motoko's ears.

She rolled here eyes in contempt and sat back with a disappointed shake of her head, "Lance... child... You have known me for quite a while now... have you really not learned by now that you can not disturb me when I am meditating?!" She narrowed her eyes and looked Lance once over. He was not half bad looking, for an annoying, noisy male that is. Motoko blinked and shook her head in surprise, What am I thinking?! I hate EVERYBODY! Especially annoying, noisy males...! She grumbled and looked about herself, and glared about looking for the stone wolf whose job it had been to warn her if there was any one in the vicinity.

She saw him prowling in the bushes and growled, calling him over to her. The stone wolf padded over to Motoko, its tail tucked under and ears laid flat in fear. "I give you one simple task you stupid mutt, and you can't even obey that order. I don't even know WHY I bother with wolves! What stupid creatures... worthless animal..." And with a twitch of her paw, the stone wolf exploded and was no more. She looked back up at Lance with a frown still on her face and grunted, "So...! You've got my attention... what d' you want? ... You've gotten what you wished for I see..."

Lance grin came back. She recognized him. She said his name even! Now there was the Motoko he knew! He held back a laugh, knowing it would only annoy her. "Meditating? You were? Yeah... Sorry, I just didn't know that was what you were doing. I caught a scent I knew quite well and just had to come over and see you!" He paused what he was saying to look over at the remains of the wolf. She could make things EXPLODE? Now that was cool! Sometimes he wished he ended being an elder of the same element as her, but it had been alright. Water was pretty sweet in his opinion too. He could do some pretty interesting things in the right conditions...

Now that he thought about it... She had a bird with her before. A very special bird he thought. Was it flying over head? Maybe he should ask about it later...

His attention snapped back to her. "Huh? Oh! Well..." He tilted his head. "It's been quite a while since I've seen my favorite teach. I wanted to thank you." His grin lowered a bit to just a smile. "Yeah... I got it alright. I tower over my parents now," He laughed a tiny bit and shook his head. "But seriously, this really is what I wanted. It's even better than I imagined. I don't think I could of done this without you, teacher."

Motoko rolled her eyes at the amazement in the boy's eyes as she made her wolf explode; she seemed to be able to impress him, even as an elder. She smirked mentally at the thought that even though he was as big as her now, that didn't mean he was now on the same level as her. She had lived through a lot more than he and had a lot more experience under her belt. Motoko shook her head despairingly and replied, "I see you are just as hyper and talkative as you were when you were just a pup.... and still completely oblivious to my moods..." She sighed as though annoyed with Lance, and looked over at the river they were next to.

Motoko remembered that Lance had said he believed he was of the water domain. She was curious to see if he knew anything about his elder form yet. "Well, you are only half way through with your journey to becoming a full fledged elder. Becoming an elder is only half the work. From there you must practice to control your element and learn to become one with your domain and surroundings. It is a long path that you have chosen, but... the results are very... satisfying..." Motoko ran her claws through the mud under her claws with a wild smile on her face as she thought about the raw power that coursed through her body.

Lance smirked a little at her comment. Yeah, he hadn't changed in some ways, but... "Oh... I wouldn't say that. I've changed a little. Acting like a child can't make you an elder." He was a bit more aware of her moods than he led on. He tried to ignore them so he could cheer her up in his own goofy way. It didn't seem to work, but... He couldn't help but continue to try. Maybe one of these days he'd get it right. He just had no idea what else to do.

Lance's smirk turned to a grin. Ah yes... He was aware of that. "No joking there. Water ain't as easy as I thought it'd be. Always moving, sometimes fast, sometimes slow... Unpredictable." He had been training himself alright. He wasn't perfect, but he was working on it. He noticed the smile on her face, thinking maybe he had done something right. Just maybe it was because of him...? Probably not...
