Jack shut the door and walked around to the side of the poke center. "What was that?" Jack asked seeing something silver ahead. Jack raced ahead with Lucario right behind. Jack looked around the corner and saw nothing. "Hm." He said and shrugged. He sat on the cold snow and started to concentrate on fire. The snow around him slowly started to melt away as he let off heat. When he had finally reached grass he opened his eyes and took a deep breath. "Wow that takes alot of energy." he said.

Something must’ve gone on between the two during the course of the day being stuck with a rookie would’ve drove Mineshadow insane. Usually Gadd didn’t allow such petty things to affect him but like all human beings it all had to be let out at some point or another. Upon the door being closed the ranger would lean against its sturdy frame head cast low staring at the flooring beneath her very own feet. Practically plopping onto the hospital bed the ranger would reach for the cell phone flipping it open to check for any missing calls or messages. But as most days it was blank of any activity it was set beside the styler as the thin sheets were pulled over in a tight bundle. The pair of pokemon being set in their pokeballs before fully casting a restful eye shut to the world. There was an overwhelming sense that the next day was going to be very busy and complicated.

(sorry for the short post. Only have ten minutes of free time today.)

It was nearly an hour after Gaddwick entered his room before he hurriedly exited slamming the door behind him. A dampness was apparent on his face though the tears were no longer actually flowing. He rested his forehead against his arm for a moment and breathed heavily. He slowly walked through the hallways towards Mineshadow's room. As he reached the door he put his hand to his forehead feeling the shallow cut that had resulted from his attempted attack on Kadabra. The bleeding had stopped but his head still ached. He tapped on Mineshadow's door a few times and croaked, "Mineshadow, Can I... Can I come in?"

User ImageThe hour seemed more like triple the time than it usually was having spent it in and out of sleep tossing from one side to the next. Each dream more unsettling than the last with things becoming more in play the chances of sleep were growing dimmer. Or perhaps it was because of the fire that made it impossible it had been a while since she had last been that close to such a dangerous creature. Of all the things to fear it had to be fire the one thing they had to use on the destruction of the base. They knew of her fear it made it seem as if they used that tactic on purpose for the mere fact that she was stationed there. Ever getting a straight answer of such would never come from that bunch it probably well that it went without knowing for sure. Upon the table rested the two pokeballs confining the partner pokemon beside them was the crumpled pile of clothing.

Showering running releasing a horde of steam as it was set nearest the hottest setting it was only a quick rinse but it was a good one. All the bandages completely removed only the scars from the surgery remained upon her torso another matching set to go with the one on her face. How many more battle wounds was the ranger going to receive by the end of her life time? Heh, life time what a joke that was people in her business didn’t strive long in life she was lucky to get past the age of twenty at this rate. That alone was only a few more years off it was drawing near it was the same age when part of her died that day so many years ago. It was a wonder if she too would die in a building set ablaze while bleeding out upon the floor unable to move.

These were the kind of thoughts that were a daily thing to Mineshadow some times they were even darker in nature. Stepping out of the shower dressed in simple black loose cargo pants and a tank top only a handful of water droplets remained within the thick strands of dull hair. Just as the last of the tightness was sighed out of her body a tapping came at her door. For a moment Mineshadow didn’t move not knowing whether or not it was just a figment of her imagination after all earlier that even something similar had occurred just with another door and a very angry looking Ranger. Not only was the calling of her name confirmed it wasn’t an illusion but speak of the devil it was the very Ranger from earlier, Gaddwick.

By the tone in which her name was called something was wrong it didn’t take a genius to gain as much if it was a life and death emergency she was sure he would’ve just came barging in, perhaps. Finishing with the last thrash of hair drying the towel was tossed back into the shower with the last of water draining out into the pipe system. Walking across the room she flicked the light switched upwards making the ceiling lights beam on to brighten up the room no longer allowing it to linger with the darkness. Slowly the door was pulled partway open just enough for the two of them to clearly see one another.

Crying? Even though there were no visible signs of tears the way his face was contorted and colored it was quite clear. The mere fact that his eyes were slightly red from it also proved it so now she was indeed witnessing two things that evening. Gadd being made and now the ranger in some form of pain it wasn’t like him to be in such state let alone let it show so easily. If any of the other rangers were to see this it would most certainly dampen their spirit if it was Mineshadow it was a completely different story but this was Gaddwick. Much more of the members or rather all of the members really looked up to the man.

Before anyone could witness him in any of this distress of a weakened state Mineshadow widen the doorway reaching over grabbing hold of his arm at the elbow joint. Gently tugging the man into her room before closing the door locking it just to make sure no one would rudely barge in on them.
“Why don’t you take a seat?” It was a question but the manner of tone used made it appear more as a direct order as the ranger walked back to the small bathing area. Snatching hold of a dry wash cloth turning on the warm water running the fabric beneath it as it grew heavy in weight collecting in all that water a metallic squeak would croak up as it was turned off before a tumble of water was squeezed out of the rag.

It didn’t matter where the man sat just as long she was sure he wasn’t going to grow weak in the knees and collide with the flooring. The dampen ragged held out to Gaddwick so that he could clean himself up so he wouldn’t look as if he had trek through hell and back. Mineshadow wouldn’t take a seat but chose to stand instead enjoying the coolness of the flooring beneath her bare feet. Wet hair pushed backwards so as the strands wouldn’t tamper with her vision all of her face completely visible for the first time now more than ever the scar was apparent starting directly beneath the right eye there was a slight discoloration with that eye hinting at the possibility that sight was more difficult for it.
“What’s going on?”

Jack tried to open the door and failed. "Damn." he started kicking and pulling and screaming. Nurse Joy finally came and opened the door. "How did you get locked out?" She asked. Jack looked at Lucario and he shook his head. "I don't know I guess someone....or something locked it." He told her. It didn't feel good to lie to her because Jack didn't like lying no matter how hourendess the outcome of the truth might be.

He and Lucario walked to the 'sleeping area' so to speak. He took a big yawn and layed on one of the beds.

Gaddwick sat down in the chair and didn't say a word. He took the cloth from Mineshadow but made no movement to clean his face with it. He just kept staring at the floor. It took him a while but he slowly pulled himself together at least enough to talk though his voice was still hoarse. "I must really be a mess huh? I'm sorry I'm doing this to you but I just had to talk to someone."

Gadd took a deep breath but continued to stair at the floor. "I suppose I'm just falling apart. Everything is too much. Jack's reckless behavior, the investigation, and everything else. I just couldn't take it anymore. I'm just so worried. Someone in the group is a traitor. But everyone has been such a good friend. I guess I just don't want it to be true. And more people are going to get hurt. I didn't sign up for something like this. I thought everything was going to be great. I guess you think thats stupid huh."

Gadd turned his head up with a stupid grin up for a moment before frowning and looking back at the floor. "I wish Jack had never found that stupid note. We could have been happy. And to top that subject off I just found out he can create flame from nothing. I don't want to believe it was him but thats where the evidence points. But really it points to me. The police are going to think I can create fire with my mind. I was the only one that saw the attack even. I just don't have a way to defend my self."

Gadd shuddered a little and kept looking at the floor. "But I'm most worried about Dr. Raphael. I haven't seen or heard of him since the Fire. I'm worried. What if it was him or his nurse. That would mean that the other is in trouble. But I just couldn't tell anyone. I just couldn't. Maybe I just didn't want to believe it. Doc was a great person he always seemed so caring. His assistant was too. She always seemed so cheerful. I don't know. Maybe I'm just living in a fantasy world. You must think I'm an idiot" He stopped talking and buried his face in the cloth.

User ImageI knew it….It was the very first thing that ran through Mineshadow’s head there was a reason why none of them held the ‘Leader’ position. Gadd was a great Ranger there was no doubt about it but from the beginning when it involved the note she had a feeling he wouldn’t be able to hold it together. There was usually training for such possibilities but with the Rangers there was no such thing. It was one of the reasons why law enforcement dealt with such issues. They and Mineshadow that is having first hand knowledge of things allowed such calm output on her part it was one of the reasons why she hadn’t had a meltdown. That and it was because of such experience that she had asked the man from the very start if he was going to be able to handle such things.

Back when the ranger lived an innocent life such thoughts would’ve existed such hopes would’ve been the b blooms surrounding her. Back before the harsh reality of how cruel the world truly was the darker side that the general public is safe from. If only the people knew how much cruelty existed in the world they should be thankful that in their life time the only pain they got to experience was a normal death of nearby love one. With the way Mineshadow was now the ideal ideas from her ranking ranger was a bit idiotic but at the same time there was a punch of envy. Envy of how carefree and innocent the man still thought and lived compared to him she was true definition of a monster which brought about an unexpected sprang of guilt and pain.

Was it some kind of cruel destiny fate had set up for Mineshadow to witness the people around her slowly crumble away? It was starting to grow very tiring watch one after another become broken in one form or another some by her own actions. Even though Gadd couldn’t see it there was a small smile upon the thin lips it was hard to fool Mineshadow the suspicion that the doctor had gone amiss had always been there. Considering the fact that no one else had seen him except for Gadd he was just deepening himself into a very dark conspiracy by lying about witnessing him after the fire. For a moment the ranger stood there making no sound or movement allowing time for Gadd to weep out his worries while Mineshadow collected her thoughts.

“I would say a fool but a very kind fool.” Mineshadow would take a moment lowering to the ground that the ranger had once been staring at so intently sitting on the back of each calf which was crossed at the ankles hands resting just above the knees. “Gadd, you have been able to live a life that I was never given a chance to live you are able to accomplish things with such a certain strife that I will never be able to measure up with it. There is a reason behind every person’s life of why they turn out the way they are. This ‘fantasy world’ is something that most of the rangers hold onto and it is what keeps them going. To simply throw it away would make you an idiot and the lost of my respect for you don’t know just how precious something like the way you think and believe is till you lose it.”

Even know at the age of eighteen to try to imagine the image of her own mother smiling was completely impossible the only image to ever surface would be that deathly look upon the kitchen floor. It was such a horrid look something that had erased all other memories even when she tried to imagine herself only the remembrance of the pain was there. Her own head was slightly tilted down causing the strands of hair to fall back in proper place hiding the slight discoloration in the shadows a small portion of the scar as well. “Tomorrow the officers most likely will be coming but don’t fret over it.”

Mineshadow would slowly raise her own head up that confident unshaken look still on her features as she gazed at Gaddwick. “It wasn’t you that attacked the Rangers across the regions and it most certainly wasn’t Doctor Raphael either. Everyone that is innocent in this matter will stay as such you can trust me on this and those that are accountable will be caught. Just trust me and we will all get through this when the officers come I’ll handle everything whenever they want to question you or anyone else you are worried about make sure I am present. I may not look it by I actually have some experience in this entire police force business. I’ll keep everyone safe in this fantasy world of yours if you just have faith in me. That is the only thing I request from you, Gadd.”

((OoC: Gadd meant since the day of the fire. The Doctor was there in the early morning. Its okay to misunderstand though. He was mostly blubbering to himself. I'm going to try to wrap this up a bit quicker than normal so we can get our new member involved.))

Gaddwick just sort of nodded and brushed the tears off his face. "Thanks. That helps a little. And I do trust you. More than any other human here." He stood himself up and tried to force a smile. "I'll try to hold out as best as I can but forgive me if I'm not quite so happy-go-lucky tomorrow." He slowly made his way to the door. It wasn't his usual confident stride but it wasn't the moping stagger he came in with. "I still have someone else to apologize to. I'm sorry for dumping this on you but who knows. If you ever need someone to talk to I'll be willing to lend an ear."

He pulled open the door and slowly closed it behind him. He walked slowly though the dim hallways until he once again reached his own room. Kadabra was still wide awake waiting for him. "I'm sorry for taking it out on you." He whispered to the air rather than the Pokemon. "I promise never to do something like that again." Kadabra closed one of his eyes. "Lets start fresh again tomorrow, okay?" The Pokemon gave and sigh that was a mixture of exasperation and contentedness. The trainer strode over to his bed. Happiny was curled up on his pillow sleeping restlessly. He gently stroked her head for while before just laying down on the bed and closing his eyes until sleep came.

Mineshadow was ever watchful of the rangers’ movement not uttering a word as he spoke the last pieces of his mind before excusing himself from her bedroom. Only after the soft click of the door closing and the assuring steps that he was moving away from her room did a sigh of relief come. Rising up from the floor she found herself still gazing towards the door as if half expecting him to come in once more. Actually, she had a feeling what she said wasn’t that much comfort perhaps if she had a much warmer personality but he couldn’t have expected much from a person like her in these emotional wrecks kind of situation. “You’ll live better not knowing my burdens.”

Walking to the door she would flip the switch down turning the lights off before proceeding on back to the small hospital bed. Holding the pillow up close to her chest like a child would with a precious stuff toy mouth and nose disappearing into the soft comforts it gave. Not even bothering dawning on with a change of sleep wear or the thin sheets of blankets she would simply lay there staring at virtually nothing till finally dozing off once more into the discomforts of dreams.

Down below in the waiting room of the Pokemon Center a radio finished its most recent song. "That was 'Road from Masara' by 'Nibi City'. Jack yawned and woke up. He saw a full clone of himself. "DITTO!" he yelled a little shocked. The little pokemon changed back and started laughing. "Di diitoo." it said. Jack smiled and sighed. "Oh crap....i showed someone." he said remembering that he was never to reveal his powers. He sighed and put his head in his hands. He then stood up and went to find Gaddwick. "Gaddwick sir?" he called out.

User ImageAs if they had all been stationed back at the Rangers Base one of the head rangers was already up and gone from the center. To have woken around five that morning escaping the every watchful eyes of the Chansey that had been doing its routine rounds throughout the Pokemon Center. The chances of it being quite shocked to notice the empty bed within the room that was suppose to contain the patient Mineshadow. The sun had been awake itself by the time the Ranger was fully adorn in the black and red colors of the uniform taking an early run before the day could truly start. Unlike that of the mountain terrain the lands were very flat and the new blades of overly fresh grass were piercing through the thin layers of snow. Of course the ranger wasn’t completely alone as an aggressive Houndour ran along side its trainer carrying a doggie pack of sorts that contained bottles of water.

The entire night was eventful and restless truthfully it was a miracle that she was still able to function as usual even though she got about half as much sleep than usual. Coolness of the early morning made it easier temperature wise sweat didn’t even start showing till the sun was rising higher over the horizon. There was no clear destination in which the pair was running they just kept moving forward clearing out all the troubles that had them weighed down. Eventually the pair did arrive at the nearby town slowing to a civilize walk in attempt to draw less attention to themselves. But the vibrant colors of a ranger uniform did anything but make it easy standing out as a sore thumb. Not bothering with the civilians they went straight to business heading down to a small business building only a single floor level. A golden old bell chiming as the metal door pushed against it announcing the arrival of a costumer into they’re midst.

Loyally the Houndour was seated outside the doors as if some form of watch dog head held high up in a very proud manner. A bit of a threatening tense within the pools of each eye not a single movement was occurring from the Pokemon. While inside the female ranger walked up to the counter slightly leaning along the edge as the man went into the back to shuffle through the pile of junk people referred as mail packages. A front header of a newspaper caught the lone gaze of the ranger staring across the room to the wall where in big bold black lettering it read, “In Memorial”. Having moved from the counter at this point the newspaper was practically torn off the wall causing a few steady needles to litter the ground around the red boots.

Sure enough it was an old newspaper article written a mere day after the incident of the bases being struck down by the organization. There was some small speculation of what occurred like most some key parts were very inaccurate. But, that was what the news business was all about half lies and truths given to an easily manipulated race of humans. Flipping the newspaper over the article continued on with a reference of the last time a disaster had struck the Rangers it was all about him. There was even a small photo of the boy with the article it was a bit old compared to the one on her cell but none the less it was the same person. With a heavy sigh it was rolled up into a tight bundle as the man approach the counter with a small envelope in his hand.

It was snapped out of his hand like some fierce predator as Mineshadow vacant the office with Houndour following close behind not coming to a stop till they were several yards away. Article stuffed down into the pack as the empty bottles were removed only to be tossed into a recycle bin. Staying close to the bin where a neighboring trashcan stood the envelope was ripped open in one flowing movement. It contained a small white card with numbers printed upon the surface flipping out the cell the numbers were dialed in before it was brought up to her ear. With the line ringing she went on ahead shredding the envelope into bits of pieces before tossing the entire lot into the trash.

A distorted voice came over the line to hindrance the chances of one to recognize the original owner of it. Card held down against the smooth surface of the recycle bin the ranger pulled out a pen from the inner pocket draughty down a few notes. Like most women the hand writing was small allowing more then enough room on the card for more notes. Only when the voice stopped did the notes come to a cease card disappearing with the pen to the inner pocket. A brief conversation would take place between the two before the line would be cut off it was about time to return to the Pokemon Center before the police were to arrive. With a praising pet upon the Houndours’ head the two would jog off back to the center.

It was a comfort to see that there were no police cars present when the two arrived the lot was still vacant of any real life. Then again with it only a bit after eight it was no surprise that it was still in a bit of a slumber not that much though. They had walked the last few yards to the front doors of the center which whoosh open before them allowing entry. Pack removed from the pokemon held loose in the right hand of the ranger welcoming the silence of the center except for the few small responses of a Chansey. That was till that annoying sound of a voice came from the second level of the center which could’ve been no other then that rookie, Jack. Every time that kid spoke it was like someone was splintering her ears. It was a bit rude for the ranger to be calling out for someone when others and mostly likely MOST of the patients within the center were still slumbering within the comforts of hospital beds.

User Image“Cerberus,” the black ears lifted upwards as the pokemon stared awaiting for an order from the ranger. “Go tell that nuisance to kindly lower his voice.” Orange muzzle was pulled back revealing a few canines before the pokemon would trot off across the waiting room disappearing through the doorway trusting the accuracy of its hearing to find the ranger. It traveled down the hall and up a flight of stairs which Nurse Joy held the door open so that the pokemon may pass by. Cerberus would come to the second level clearly hearing the ranger its paws softly padded against the flooring before coming around the next corner just yards from Jack. Its head tilted down before a threatening growl rose up from the dark pokemon. That design of a skull taking on a menacing appearance as the growl only grew more threatening every time the ranger dare spoke.

Mineshadow would watch it trot off before the pair off to the side of the room caught her attention. Neither appeared injured so surely they weren’t here for medical attention but they seemed to be waiting for something. Removing the ranger cap the loose of clay hair came tumbling down the cap was clipped upon the black belt before the ranger would approach the man with the Machop. “Is there something you need?”
