Everything that Lucifer can use God can use... After all he made it. Another good point... God's ownmessengers and leader used magic God just allowed them to do things that are normally impossible... parting a sea sounds like magic to me... even if God did it. I do believe God made grey areas... just to allow us to think and come to our own conclussions thus takingus closer to him or sin... and bringing out the true character of our soul. Through thinking is knowlege gained.

well, i think magic in harry potter is different than the kind of magic that the devil uses.

Ok.. I don't know if I already put my two cents in on this one but I agree with Lyssa on one thing, it's not all that bad. However, I still don't like Harry potter. not cause it's evil but because of the fad it's become and other various personal reasons. I think if you feel like condemning Harry Potter, you should stop watching movies all together, very few movies these days portray Christianity in a good light, and more and more they are becoming anti-christian. So I think if you personally don't think it's a good idea to watch those movies, go right ahead, what's-her-face doesn't need anymore money anyway. It's not a life or death situation so God will convict his children of things that He wants changed in them so we've got nothing to worry about, God'll deal with that if it's worth dealing with. But if you feel like putting down other people for liking it, take a look at the other movies and books you are watching and reading first.

I used to take the book as just a fictional story that is not real. It does go against the Bible, though. So, I really don't know what to think now. confused

Illusion and magic are two seperate things. (houdini was ilusion as are moder magicians (Chris angel, david blane etc). Bu tthe actual chaneling of spiritual forces for ones own purposes is definitely magic, but here's a concept for you all. magic can be used for either good or bad ends, and it was Christians who feared the use of magic that burned inocent people at the stake just in case. so who realy are the evil ones here?

Actually a lot of factors went into the witch burnings that you can't blame all of Christianity for. It was a mix of corrupt religion due to the fact that it was intertwined with a corrupt government, and mass hysteria. As for true sorcery, if its not through God, who else could it be from? Can't be us.

But . . . magic is real, and everyone uses it. Everyone uses a personal energy. You Pray Don't you? That is a form of magic, at least in pagan terms. Magic is just a means of using personal and/or divine energy to achieve a goal. Whether you use yours or that of the Divine (God) . . . the fact is that "magic" is not evil. It is the "intent" of the user. I belive they were rather correct in Harry Potter, no real magic isn't all flashy and hollywood like they make it out to be in the books and movies. It's a tad more subtle than that, and there are such things as good witches. Those who use the healing powers of the earth, the divine, "God" if you will.

Many a times I have chosen to use Herbal Remedies made from my garden plants to cure an illness rather than to use that of modern medical science. That is also magic, the healing power of nature. Which do you think God would want you to use more. Medical Scientific Man-made synthetic cures. Or natural, earth grown, god-created remidies . . . think for a second. rolleyes
