There goes civilisation. emo *dies* Another time, I came across a book that was trying to argue that the ancient Greeks were disgusted by homosexuality.
Lolz, not even close. If that book is here, then the truth is Pluto. Not even close. It was obvious that they hadn't understood...at all... the text they were trying to use to back it up.
Stupid people, trying to impose their prejudices on other societies just because they're stupid.
My uni goes on so much about how it's so awesome because of it's oh so wonderful library, but when I keep picking up books and thinking "Why did this get published?", one has to wonder. =P

Just look at their gods! I don't know where you're getting your books from, but there's definitely better ones out there. Like this one I read on the Loch Ness Monster... it was HUGE. Like a novel-sized research text. And even though it's pretty old, published in the 70's I believe, it's amazingly well-thought out and dwelves into pretty much every nook and cranny of possibility from what they did know at the time. It's just... ingenius... they even bring up the possibility of the monster being overly-large eels, and while this may sound ridiculous, they actually back these ideas up with illustrations that makes the theory seem quite possible, and maybe even probably. Just a lovely work. I'm so glad I found it. <3

It was an old book. I thought to myself "I bet this was written decades ago", and surprise surprise, I was right. It'll teach me to stick to reading lists. We do have hundreds of books, so I guess it stands to reason that several would be absolute pants.
Too many historians let their own attitudes bias what they're saying. I mean, when I had to write my essay about medieval women, I wrote about attitudes towards them. Were they favourable? No, but to bog myself down in trying to twist it around to say the opposite so that they can agree with me, when that isn't what the evidence is saying is just intellectually dishonest.
I'm glad I went to my Critical Thinking Classes at A-Level now. It helps so much. I would have thought that people publishing books would be beyond using silly fallacies, but apparently not.
I had a lecture about the Spartan teaching system, where kids got sent away at a young age to boarding school type things. Apparently, the fact that homosexuality happened at these schools was called "The dark side" of Spartan education until fairly recently. The lecturer said that a few years ago, he wouldn't even be allowed to tell us about it. But the fact that to prove you were a man, you had to murder one of the peasants was just peachy. Stupid, stupid, stupid.
I'm currently reading "The Descent of Woman" By Elaine Morgan, and that is what I'd call a good book. I'm glad I found it. So not every book there is awful. XD
That book you read sounds interesting. =] Do you remember what it was called?

Gah, that's just terrible how biased people can be... But I'm sorry, I don't remember the title or author... I might have written it down somewhere, so I'll check around my room next time I get the chance.

It's funny though, I saved all my essays from that semester on the computer, so I knew I would have the book listed as a works cited, but when I went to find it, that essay wasn't there. o.o All the other ones were... maybe I still have a hard copy. ^^;;

K, I really need to yell at myself and my stupid pride won't let me say it to anyone I know in real life. So congratulations thread, you can have it.
Dear Self
Stop. It. Stop being so introverted. You are supposed to be an adult now. Why did you turn down the chance to go to a theme park, of all things, because you'd have to buy the tickets in person? Because there are oh so many ways that you can make a fool out of yourself just doing that, aren't there? Why did you then justify it to yourself by saying that you wouldn't have fun because you wouldn't know anyone? How do you expect to ever know anyone when you don't want to try? Why do you constantly talk yourself out of doing things you want to do because they involve leaving your room, even though you hate being cooped up? Grow a spine.
Guess what? Other people have hangups too. They're not obsessing over every little mistake you make. You'll get things wrong. It's life. Stop depriving yourself of one because you're worried about things that probably won't happen. It's moronic.
And bloody hell, do that presentation tomorrow, because if you don't, you won't be allowed in that professor's classes any more. He won't trust you enough, and you love his classes. Yes, he might be irked that you chose to do it by yourself, instead of - you know, in a group like you were SUPPOSED to, but not half as irked as he'll be if you just don't go. The other guy didn't get in touch either, so it's as much his fault as it is yours. If he goes, and you don't, what will that make you look like? Unreliable is what. Stop letting others down, stop letting yourself down and grow up.
Nobody hates you just because. It's you that hates you. And you've made out that that's not the case, so now, you can't even vent or go back to the doctor, because you'll be admitting that you're a liar. Good going, genius.
Go and whine about it on a forum now, because that'll make everything better, won't it?
You suck.
>_<
Aaand posting because I'd quite like a hug. >>

Oh... oh dear. o.o This is quite a... frustrated post... poor Morgey hun. D: Didn't know you were feeling this way... *hugs* But... I agree with the rant you posted to yourself... maybe not in quite such a harsh way, but you seem to know what you need to do about your life to improve it. ^^ I hope things get better.
