The kiss lasted a litte while longer before Charming pulled away, drawing in a breath or two before speaking, if not somewhat impulsively. "Come to the ball tonight." He murmured. "I have something to tell you." And what was that something, exactly? He wasn't sure. Wasn't sure why he didn't know what it was and wasn't sure why he couldn't tell Merethist this right now.
The prince glanced up, bit his lip. "I have to go." He told Merethist, trying to get through with his eyes that there was definitely nothing to worry about. Never mind that he hadn't explained all about the marriage. He had to go and do some things and figure out other things, he stood, looking right and left, and, not noticing his mother hiding out in the orchard, he threw a rueful glance to Merethist before beginning to briskly walk away. There was definitely some things that needed clearing up.

Merethist felt a little better after the kiss, though he was still trying to detatch his heart from Charming. The kiss had weakened hisd resolve and the tears had stop, he merely nodded at Charming's words. "okay...see you tonight" he agreed quietly, turning his gaze back to the fountain. He didn't feel inclined to move right now, he had to steady his emotions out and deep in his heart, he hoped Charming was going to say the words he so sorely wanted to hear.
"goodbye" Merethist said quietly, not letting his gaze leave the torrents of water splashing into the fountain. He didn't really want to go to another ball, but he wanted to hear what Charming had to say. He was curious. He would sit here for a few hours and sort his thoughts out.

Outraged! That was what she was! Charming had found out he was engaged and not five minutes later he had been kissing that - that girl! It was now later in the day and Prince Charming's mother was pacing back and forth and fuming over her son's behavior. She was also waiting for that girl to come over so she could give her a piece of her mind! And she had to come soon, in any case!
The queen was angry and there was no doubt why. While everyone else was getting ready for the ball she was here, waiting to reprimand a foolish girl who thought she could mess with her son! And - OH! - she'd also heard he'd kissed a girl at a ball not that long ago! It had been put off as a spell, but... How infuriating! Her son going bad all of a sudden!

Merethist had gone straight back to his room to get ready and he kept trying to ignore the sound of pacing in the corridor outside his room. He had taken a bath and was flopped out on his bed, thinking about things. Charming was going to have to go, Merethist wasn't going to be allowed to be with Charming because he was male. It was a bad thing for a Prince to be with a male.
Who was that pacing outside his room?? He shook his head and got up, wrapping the bathrobe tighter around himself as he opened the door and peeked outside. It was Charming's mother!! oh no!! He pulled himself back into his room, slamming the door and locking it.

Prince Charming's Mother saw her peek out the door and then slam it. "You! Open up! We need to talk!" She screeched, obviously very upset that the door had been locked on her as she banged at it with a fist. How dare this girl make her son fall in love with her! It was wrong!! After hitting and smacking at the door for quite a while she gave up. Gave up and walked away.
She had a better plan, and besides that, she needed to start getting ready for the ball. Whoever this girl was, she had certainly met her match by now! In love with Charming or not, his mother would make sure that she was solidly out of love with him by the time the night was through. And of course, she was sure that the girl would be attending the ball - who wasn't?

Merethist was having a very bad day today, he could feel it wasn't going to get any better. He sipped at the small flute of wine he had picked up and looked around the ball, all the girls were chattering and wondering who Prince Charming's new bride-to-be was, mainly they were wondering who was the backstabber.
Merethist was stood back from the crowd, trying not to be noticed. He was still very nervous over being here and was highly curious over what Charming wanted to tell him. It was okay not to want to be here right?? Because, he was sorely hoping Charming's mother wouldn't spot him, what had he done to her anyway?

So the girl had decided to come! Prince Charming's mother was on top of the world as she made sure the pink cocktail made it onto the waiter's tray. A precision spell and everything! Who said a girl couldn't take a little heart-hardening anyway? These days they were all so mushy! Who knew? Maybe she could even be friends with that girl after she'd taken the potion! Always a possibility. She sat back to watch the cocktail travel over to her son.
Prince Charming floated about, fending off questions. He seriously had no clue as to who he was going to get married to. And he certainly wasn't going to get married in the first place! He paused in mid-step as he spotted Merethist in the crowd before walking over to him. So, he'd come. Charming felt a mixture of relief and dread flow through his bloodstream as he walked forward as inconspicuously as possible.
Then, of course, a waiter stopped him. He glanced at the fascinatingly pink drink on the man's tray and took it curiously, watching as the waiter moved away. He then moved towards Merethist again. He wasn't sure why exactly, but the moment he came forward, before Merethist, he offered the drink out. It matched Merethist, really. That was probably why.

Merethist had finished his drink and was wandering around, trying to lose himself in the crowds, he had seen Charming's mother and panicked! Seriously, what had h done to incur her hate?? She didn't know about them...did she?? He shook his head, of coarse not!! they'd been so careful.
Merethist looked around for a waiter and blinked as a pink drink came into his vision, he took it and looked up at Charming, smiling. "hello Charming" he greeted, totally forgetting his angst from that morning as soon as he saw Charming's face. The drink was pretty-looking and Merethist took a long sip of it, enjoying the flavour and colour of it. Gradually, he felt himself becoming detached from Charming and he didn't know why. What was happening?! He sipped his drink again, trying to steady himself and forgot why being distant was bugging him.

"Merethist." Charming breathed with a smile, taking Merethist's hands in his. No one was really watching right now. No one really cared right now. Most everyone was busy, busy doing things, not tracking down Charming. Not even Charming's mother was watching right now - she was already aware of her victory as far as the situation went. She was also completely right on the subject. She had won.
"Merethist," Charming spoke again, feeling the words bubbling up from somewhere inside of him. "Merethist I love you. I love you and I'm not going to get married because I do." He breathed. And it was true! Charming had finally said it. The words. The true words. It felt nice to get such a thing off of his chest.

Merethist blinked, wondering why Prince Charming was touching him in such a familiar way. What was going on, did he think he was a princess?? He wasn't a Princess!! He looked around, onwdering if this was some joke that was being played on him, why was Charming acting all lovey with him, Merethist didn't love Charming and that was for sure!!
"Prince Charming." Merethist answered with a smile to Charming saying his name, though it slipped into a look of utter confusion at Charming's words. This had to be a joke!! He was blushing over such words, but why was the Prince just suddenly saying these things. "you are supposed to love your fiance'" he murmured quietly, still looking confused "where has this suddenly come from?? I don't even know you very well!!" he didn't!! The potion had supressed all memories containing a feeling of love towards Charming and he was terribly confused. "is someone playing a joke on me??" he asked in a small voice, suddenly embarrassed about being caught in such a situation, someone was probably standing back and laughing at him.

Prince Charming glanced down at Merethist, surprised. "What? Joking?" He voice was small. Was Merethist acting? Because he didn't want to be seen? Yes - acting, he had to be! "I see." He said blankly, taking the hint if Merethist was acting. He then turned on his heel somehow and began to walk away. Why would Merethist have acted like that in the first place? Merethist didn't seem the type...
He stopped. Perhaps Merethist hadn't been acting. Perhaps Merethist didn't love him and just wanted to brush him off. The only person he'd ever admitted love to didn't love him back. And he had been so sure. So idiotically sure that Merethist felt the exact same way. Charming turned around to gaze at Merethist. A look that was clearly broken beyond any repair. He was almost positive now. No person could act that well! Merethist didn't love him. Merethist had even said that he thought Charming's love had been a joke! It would go on to be a long night for the prince.

"it was so out of the blue, Tam-Tam" Merethist said to Tamson, leaning across the table to pick up the pot of sugar. He added a spoonful to his porridge and mixed it in, taking a spoonful of his porridge afterwards. He had been so confused last night, that he had left as soon as Charming walked away and was left wondering about what Charming had looked like. He looked so broken, but Merethist couldn't figure the situation out enough to know why.
"he came and took my hand and told me he loved me, I've never even been very close to him" he continued, letting the bird pick at a slice of toast he had crumbled up for his little friend. He looked across to his fairy friend and sighed, pouting. What was going on??

"Oh?" Tamson listened to Merethist speak, eating his own rather sugary breakfast. He then listened to the last part, blinking. Prince Charming had told Merethist he loved him? And not only was Merethist surprised, Merethist was now stating that he wasn't at all close to Charming in the first place! Charming had of course stolen Merethist's virginity and more... Why was this some big shock.
"Well, it's really not all that surprising when you look at it." The daffodil fairy pointed out simply. "I mean, you guys have been seeing eachother for a little while - I thought you'd feel the same way." He pointed all of this out in a benign manner as he finished off a piece of toast drenched in honey - his tastes for sweet things were quite profound.

Merethist blinked at Tamsons' words, a blush spreading across his cheeks. They had done what?? No!! Merethist had never been with anyone!! He shook his head, dropping his spoon back into his bowl of porridge. Tamson was so silly!!
"no I haven't Tamson, I haven't even been with anyone yet!!" he said, looking confused still. Was Tamson in on the joke??
"I'm not in love with anyone Tamson, I don't even know Prince Charming well!! I haven't seen him since he thought I was a girl when I met you in the garden...weeks ago!! Why would he suddenly just come up to me and say that after he called me a liar??" He asked, looking even more confused. What was going on?? "..and he's getting married"

Tamson watched Merethist, raising an eyebrow. "But you were with Prince Charming!" He replied, feeling helpless in the matter. Merethist had gushed to him about Charming ever since the prince had come back after stealing his virginity. "What are you talking about?" He asked, staring at Merethist with eyes that begged for a break from the untruth. Why was Merethist saying all of this? Tamson knew that he and Charming were a pair! What was Merethist trying to do?
"What do you mean you haven't seen him since? You've seen him plenty of times!" Tamson replied feeling a mounting frustration with Merethist. And yes, Prince Charming was going to get married, but still! Tamson had heard it was an arranged affair - arranged by Charming's parents. Or... perhaps Merethist was denying all that he felt for Charming because he was going to get married?
