Good to know I'm not the only one that thinks that way. I was to be honest surprised when I first found out about Nightwish coming from Finland.
And I can excuse that with the fact that I was pretty late with starting to listen to music for fun. In other words, back in the year I turned 16 and moved out of my parents home into an apartment of my own and got my own opinions and values and stuff like that.

I got into a Týr craze again because I was talking to my sisters boyfriend all afternoon.
His uncle is the bassist for Týr, that's why xD I think I'll ask him when they were gonna play here in Denmark this year so I can see them. It'd be nice to see Gunnar on stage before I really meet him.
As for countries, I'd say most of the bands I like are from Norway :3

Týr is playing in Pagan fest along with Turisas, Ensiferum and Eluveitie in April and May here. I can't go because neither of the closest shows are close enough for me to attend and both are in cities. Me going to a city alone would be disastrous, really.
But I don't know what it is about Finland, they just put out some really great bands.

Hmm I'd love to go but I'm not able to. Luckily they're supposed to be playing at The Rock here in Copenhagen this year as well which is where I'll be joining.

I wish that kind of stuff came here sad
When I was near Las Vegas I went to all kinds of shows, but the closest thing to come here has been Killswitch Engage :S

You know, I loved old CoB (Follow the Reaper especially) but their material seems to be on a slide, and their last album was just flat weak imo, so not really.

I think it sounds better than Are You Dead Yet? from what I've heard so far, though not quite as good as the old stuff.

Heard Pagan's Mind for the first time today, totally by accident. Me and the bf were in Best Buy looking for cds, and he's been doing the whole Wiccan thing lately, also he's obsessed with the show Stargate, and I saw that new cd of theirs and I just wordlessly handed it to him. It seemed pretty essential that one of us buy it.
Now that I've heard it, I've got mixed feelings about it. The instrumentals are pretty brilliant, and according to Ian the lyrics are perfect though I haven't read them. But the vocals? ...Eh. The singing is just, idk, hokey in that 80's hair metal way. This is exactly the reason why I despise Dream Theater. But around track 4 or so I heard a face-melter and some decent growling and an actual scream. Didn't have time to listen to the rest, but I'm prepared to give it a chance.
But dude, bad singing will so quickly ruin a song for me, no matter how good the rest of the band is.
