Walter nodded approvingly at the girl before addressing Luke. "Ours is almost definitely the only boat that's leaving this late at night, so the fact that we are out late at night is suspicious. It is fairly likely that people won't bother with us if we just seem to be out; if we run, they'll want to know where we're running to." He was more worried about Luke than he cared to admit. Why had he been bleeding? Had his breathing attacks worsened? He shook his head, firmly. Whatever the problem was, it could be dealt with later.

"Oh," was all Luke said when it was explained to him. Of course that made sense. Made sense and was also exciting. If theirs was the only boat leaving in the dead of night... it all had an air of, well the underground to it and for some reason Luke found that particularly exciting.
He was near bouncing with the excitement of all this as they made their way to the harbour.
"Calm down, you're acting like a child," Rhynll said softly in his ear after climbing up his shirt and draping himself over Luke's should. Luke merely grinned and didn't bother answering. Frankly he didn't care if he was acting like a child. His brother had finally come back for him and they were not only leaving his father behind but the whole of London. Not that Luke hated London, it was just exciting to go other places. Though he was somewhat curious as to why Walter hadn't asked about thier mother. Had he found out about her death through other means? Had their father told him? He didn't want to bring it up incase he already knew and it upset him or something so he didn't say anything about her.

Dani followed Arba up the stairs, both of them creeping past her father and Sam's rooms. It would be a bad situation if her father caught her out at nearly midnight, even before the killings. Now, with them, it would be an utter disaster. Fortunately, they made it to Dani's room without incident, and sat on her bed together, looking out the window.
"That walk did nothing to make me want to fall asleep," said Arba, placing his chin on the sill.
Dani grinned, "Maybe that was my evil plan all along, and you fell for it! Did you ever think of that?" She sat cross-leged on the bed, placing her elbow on her knees and propping her chin on her hands.
The wolf kicked her playfully, and she gently swatted his back. They exchanged blows for a few minutes until they heard Dani's father turning around in his bed in the next room. They looked out at the city for a few minutes before Dani whispered, "Where do you think they were going? Those boys, I mean. They obviously had some place to be, with the way they ran off. Either that or you smell really bad."
Arba ignored the jibe and shrugged. "Out of the city, maybe. Perhaps they jsut don't want to be in such a dangerous area. A lot of people don't."

Jane slept for a short while. She woke up to Shade licking her face. "Now what?" "You where crying again." "I'm not going to sleep any better this time around." She sighed and looked towards where the shop stood. "Do you remeber the day we died?" "Why do you ask?" Shade looked at her confused. "Just answer me." Shade sighed, "Not really. I just remember running and the sounds of feet following." "Do you remeber what form you where in that time?" "A ferret. Why?" "That's what Wink's little brother's deamon is. He seems to have woken our memories of that day." The two sat in silence as the night passed outside their room.

Dani frowned and nodded at Arba's observation. She supposed that it was unwise to remain in London if one had the option to leave. Still, she couldn't comprehend the thoguht of just packing up and gonig away, leaving friends and family who might fall victim to the murderer.
"Maybe that's where he was running to. Luke, I mean. Maybe he was leaving the alley to meet with that man so they could leave," she said slowly.
Arba nodded, "Probably. They seemed to know each other."
They fell into silence, looking out the window once more, each thinknig of murder, friends, and hasty escapes out of the city.

Walter walked toward one of the boats, a shabby but large one, and the only one with the lights on. He couldn't help but smile; it had been a while since he'd seen-
The smile faded from his face. There was no one on deck. In fact, there was no one on board at all. He came to an abrupt halt and quickly looked to Alirialie for conformation. She looked up at him with unreadable eyes, and murmured, "There's no one bellow deck, either."
Walter turned to his two companions, his face unwaveringly calm. "The boat isn't leaving tonight, and I believe it would be best to get out of here. Come on, Luke." He began walking back the way they'd come, carefully running through his options in his mind as he did so.

Jane got up after a short while and picked up Shade. With her compainion in her arms she walked outside and sat down on the bench sitting by the shop's delapidated front. She lent her head back and closed her eyes, letting the air cool her neck and face. Shade curled up into a small ball that she petted absentmindedly. This passed for a few minutes until they both heard footsteps coming closer. She let one hand fall beside her where it lay next to the hilt of one of her swords.

Arba rested his chin on the window sill, breathing in the crisp night air. Really, he felt the same anxiety Dani did. Neither of them really wanted to stay here, for it felt too confined, but neither of them wanted to leave London. Things were just too interesting now. Of course, it was foolish to stay in the city with the murders occuring more and more frequently, and both of them knew this, although Arba was the only one to voice it out loud.
Arba sighed and moved his eyes away from the window to look at Dani. She'd crossed her arms and had her chin resting on the topmsot one. Her eyes kept shutting and her head tipped forward a bit before her whole body gave a little jolt and her eyes opened. Arba had to resist the urge to curve the corners of his mouth in a smile. He didn't bother telling Dani to go to bed, for she would just ignore the wolf, as usual.

When they reached the boats Luke felt his hair start to stand on end, though he had no idea at that point why. Even Rhynll's fur bristled. Hearing the reason why he felt that way he stiffened. Was this the murderers at work?
He found himself staring somewhat dumbfounded at the boats, the morbid curiosity that all people seem.
"Come on, Luke."
That jerked him out of it (he still felt the surge of emotion realizing that it was his brother, his brother who was speaking) and he hurried after Walter. He recognised that unwavering calm look, it was the same look he got whenever their father would become violent against their mother. Hence he stayed quiet and merely waited for something to stay up.
Or he did until he thought of something that worried him even more than the missing gyptians. "Where will we stay?" He didn't want to go back home to his father; he feared him even more than these murders.

Rayne looked at the two boys, who seemed to have no place to go. "well, i know a few safe places to hide out in. plenty of food and drink, plenty of room to move. almost all houses have a secret entrance, and i know of plenty of houses with an extensive network of passages." she looked around to take her bearings in the city. "there's one nearby, actually.

Walter looked at the girl without slowing his pace, and raised his eyebrows slightly. "I think that would be an excellent way to get killed, actually. Didn't you say you were being chased? The best way to stay out of trouble," he added softly, almost to himself, "Is to go where you're least expected." He focused on the other two again.
"Alright, troops, here is the plan. I'm going to put us up in a very nice inn; that ought to keep us safe. People won't look for either of you there, correct?" He didn't wait for a response. "Anyway, I'll purchase a room, and you two can come in the back. You can get yourselves cleaned up a bit, I'll get you some nice clothes first thing tomorrow, and we'll leave on a boat at noon. Is that disagreeable to anyone?"

Rayne shrugged. "i managed to stay in one for a month while someone was after me for being a witch, and no-one caught me. however, if you think its best, then i'll go along with it." she looked down at the thin black pieces of silk that were bound together to make her outfit, which most people who looked at her would think to be trashy, almost. "what's wrong with my clothes, anyway?" she asked. "its got easy maneuverability and i dont feel the cold, so it doesn't have to be warm. and for your information, i am clean" she said, which was true.

Jane asked Shade to listen in on the voices coming closer. "One sounds like it belonges to Wink. I thought he left." "So did I." Jane continued to sit and listen as the voices got closer. "Sounds like they added another to their group. A witch." Jane whistled softly. "Their a rare sight this far south."

Luke's eyebrows rose slightly at hearing they were going to stay in a nice inn. Never had he expected to be able to do that, but then Walter had always avoided his questions as to what had been going on in the past few years but whatever had happened he had obviously come into a lot of money.
He nodded agreeing to the plan eagerly. "It will be nice to sleep in a good bed for once," Rhynll said softly and Luke had to agree. He glanced to the witch when she spoke. "Well unlike you, some of us aren't so lucky as to be able to afford decent clothing all the time," he said quietly.
But then he thought of something worrying. He glanced to the witch travelling with him briefly, not sure if he should speak around her but then dismissed it. "What if father comes looking for me?" Luke said, his voice tinged with fear. "He's done it before and... well it was always worse when he did." He knew that the man would never think to look for him at a rich inn but if he asked around and found out where they were that way... it was enough to send a shiver of fear through Luke.
