^Yes, I'm immortal. mrgreen Triska Touch My Seizure Also, we were told to keep our identity's secret unless we really really need to say them. Why are some of you revealing who you are? Those were the rules. The only thing I heard would be an incident to reveal who you are is when it looks like your about to be lynched. And keeping myself a secret will help the good guys because the Mafia can't tell who I am. Actually, the rules just say: 3. If you've got a role that is special (you'll know what I mean if you do) please use discretion about revealing it because you'll probably become a target. Like I said, I don't think revealing your name will reveal your special role (if you have one), unless your name is 'Officer Bob' or something blatantly obvious like that. whee Touch My Seizure Ah, now we know Hairy Priest isn't in the Mafia! Safe from a lynching then. UNLESS YOU ARE LYING. Haha. True, I could be lying. But if we assume that most of the major characters from the show are in the game, then unless someone else comes and says "no, they're lying because I'm really so-and-so!", why wouldn't you believe me, Stresshog or Lullabee? At this point I figure the mafia has three options: 1. Lie about their name, and hope they don't get caught. 2. Refuse to give a name, and try to convince enough townies to also refuse (without seeming too suspicious) so that the strategy fails. 3. Keep silent, and hope that enough townies refuse to name themselves anyway, such that they remain hidden without implicating themselves. That's why I think it works to the town's advantage for us to reveal. Otherwise, we have to rely solely on Ceribri's clues and/or info from the officers to identify the mafia, but we seem to be at a dead end there, unless someone's still got an idea on the clues, or an officer decides to come forward.

Fine. Martha Jones.
Which is funny because I'm a short, tan person with short hair. Then again, I bet none of us look like our characters, but I'm still getting a giggle.
And Mom and I are now looking through a paella cookbook for what we might do for our first paella together (she's made it before)! We've got a good rice, some saffron, and a pan. We now need to decide what to do and get the rest of the ingredients. And we ran out of tomatoes. Exciting! While I'm at it, I watched Kenneth Branagh's full Hamlet last night. Loved it.

I notice you guys have it pretty much under control, but just stopping in to see how it's progressing.
Yes, you are allowed to reveal your character whenever you please, although sometimes discretion is needed to decide exactly when that time is.
Heh, and in this game Captain Jack isn't immortal, sorry. ^^ This is Doctor Who Mafia, not Torchwood Mafia. *pause* Heh, great idea for next game! rofl

A Torchwood Mafia game? That might be fun! Would we have to watch Torchwood to play that?

Couldn't help but make that comment 'cause I just got through reading an email about that exact same Hamlet and I wanna go get it. Despite the fact that Branagh plays a sort of kook in HP: Chamber of Secrets, I've seen him in other films and he's really quite good. ^^
Okay, back to the game.

If Hairy Priest is under suspicion we shouldn't let him come up with all the ideas. If he would like to produce evidence of his being captain Jack (a screenshot of ceribri's pm would be helpful) I will take that back . All of our identities being exposed WILL help the mafia as, if the doctor and the police are smart they will not reveal themselves and when everyone else reveals, our only hope is either lynched by us in suspicion or killed off by the Mafia who, we've already said, know who they are and will be easily able to find out the identities of the doctor and cop.

You're right. However, Hairy shouldn't reveal himself through posting Ceribri's PM, probably. Read the little FAQ on the first page of the Mafia information sticky again.

NO. As in: the rules clearly state that you are not allowed to quote my PMs to you. Taking a picture of said PM and posting it anywhere is the same thing as quoting. It is not allowed and for the reason that you have to prove yourself without outside help from me.
And just because people reveal themselves doesn't mean anything. The Cop and Doc are not obvious from just knowing people's characters.

My suspicion has shifted from Hairy Priest to Triska... why won't you reveal who you are? Are you the Rani or Davros or something?

Paella. Yummy! I haven't had that in ages. I think the last time I ordered squid ink paella, and it was a rather unappetizing greyish color. Tasted good, though.
Okay, I guess some of you still view me with suspicion. There's no way any of us can definitively prove our identity (without dying), so all I can say is... if I'm lying, then someone else is probably the real Captain Jack. Let that person come forward. Then, either I or my accuser is one of the Mafia, and the town can lynch whoever they think is most likely to be guilty.
As you can see, if I was really Mafia, I'm taking a big chance by claiming to be Jack, since whoever was the real Jack would automatically know I was pretending. On the other hand, if I was just a normal townsperson, then I'm not risking much by letting people know I was Jack. Even if one of the Mafia decided to get me in trouble by also claiming to be Jack, the worst that could happen is that I get lynched first, the town realizes I was really Jack, and my accuser gets lynched the next day.

I don't have incentive to show my identity, mainly because I always thought it was against the rules. Even if Ceribri says its alright, every other time I play this in real life, its against the rules...so I'm apprehensive about it...Besides, I think it makes the game more exiting.
So you see, some of us just have a funny feeling in our gut about the whole name thing....

EDIT: I took out my comments about the revealing characters strategy at Ceribri's request. Good luck with that though. domokun
