 Spellcasting
Magic is a fussy thing. Honestly, it much to fussy for it's own good. One tiny little thing and BAM you've got a major slip up. Jizzy was prone to slip ups, and major ones, aren't that far off from the normal kind.
Jizzy, being the stuborn mule that she was, was delving in magic, again. Even with her twisted ankle, swolen cheek and a century or so of not having done magic. She was hunched over a cauldron, a book and a rather large cauldron steaming over a fire. Her intentiosn were to prepare a healing salve, something to speed up her healing, being the impatient one that she was.
"Heat the potion at EXACTLY 300 degrees.." She read aloud, poking at the fire with a thermometer. When it had reached teh right temperature, she began to stir it, adding ingredients in as she read it.
In the other room Deimos was smirking, tossing a fireball nfrom hand to hand. He'd been toying with his power ever since he'd gotten it. The fire faded and grew in his ahnd, at his whim. He relished the power, loved it's feeling. He made the fire flare in his hand, and the fire outside by the cauldron flared as well, not that he knew. He lessened it, and the fire fell outside as well. He didn't know the extent of his power, nor did he care to much. He was just having to much fun.
Jizzy didn't notice the flux in the fire as she added the ingredients in one by one. She continued with her spell tossing the last ingredient in and the cauldren let out a puff of green smoke. Green? But, the book said blue. Jizzy peered inside the cauldron and found it to be empty.
"What the hell! I'd just filled this up!" She said, looking around for any traces of spell or potion or something. There was nothing and she lay down, sighing. Things enver did go her way.

--Deimos gets pwned - November 29th, 2005-- Participants - Deimos, Aphrodite and Bax
It took her nearly twice the amount of time it would've taken to reach Deimos's room. The silver necklace in both her tiny hands, a scribbled note attached to the chain with ribbon she made her way flying as fast as she could make her wings go. Fianlly reaching her destination she simply placed the necklace around the door knob, lifted of her heavy burden she quickly made her way back to her room before she was found out. ---

The note looked to have been scribbled in crayon, the letters were large but readable. It was as though Aphrodite tried to compensate for her small size with very large writing.Aphrodite Dey!!
Pesans fer u. I pik ot.
Affdiee Deimos was sitting on his bed grumbling angryly at a sheet of paper before him. Math homework. The bane of his existance. He was right about ready to se it on fire when he head a thump at the door.
Taking this as an excuse to get away from his work, he leapt up, rushing to the door and swining it open. "Smalls!" He cried cheerfully. "Whacha doing here?"
Aphrodite gasped, turning around in midflight. " I.. leave pessants for Dei." She smiled shyly, though this feeling was something she couldn't comprehend. She looked down as though she was caught. " I wans to be a s'prize."
"Well you gotta be more stealthy to get past a Captain like me." He said smirking and looking around to where he presusumed the gift to be. His eyes fell on it and is first impression was that of confusion. Why was Smalls giving him a cross. As he looked closer though, he saw it was inverted, odd.
He took it off the dorrknob along with the note and slipped the chain around his neck. He expected to hear retorts from Erebus about wearing a cross, but none came. It actually felt rather cool ad smooth around his neck. "Nice gift though." He said, opening the door wider to allow Aphrodite entrance. He needed a break from abysmal addition and scary substraction.
"Cap'n?" She sounded very confused as she flew over towards him landing on his shoulder like always. A bubbling feeling erupted from her tummy as soon as he said he liked the gift, smiling she giggled quickly, boy did that feeling tickle... but back to her confusion. "Cap'n? Wazzat?"
Deimos rolled his eyes and scrunched up his face as he shut the door behind them walking back into his room. "A Captain is the leader of a crew of pirates. I ahve a pirate crew, so I'm a Captain." He hoped this explaination would suffice, he didn;t have much else to work with.
"Pie rats!" She squeeked, she was told stories and watched movies about pirates! Jack was her favorite. "Ly Jack Sparrow?" she looked up at him with a bright smile.
Deimos nodded. She'd gotten it. "Yah, Just like Captain Jack Sparrow!" He said, walking to the small table in his room, where his aquarium was perched. Chandra and Ravana, the two koi swimming inside, circled inside.
She smiled clapping with joy that she got it right. Fluttering off his shoulder, she landed gently on her feet on the round table, toddling her way over toward the fish watching them swim. Pressing her face against the glass she oohed at the sight. Pulling away she smiled up at Deimos, happy to see him again. Toddling her way over back to him. "I have fishies too! I no names them yet." She explained, even though it had been already a month since she had gotten the two fairy koi and had yet grasped the concept of that it was ok to eat the candy, but she was never really allowed near sugar anyways. The thought was fleeting.
" Wut Dei ben doo-eng sins last see me?" She looked up at him, her bright yellow eyes watching him.
Something flashed in Deimos eyes, and he smikred, standing up. "I've been practicing." He said smoothly, exited now. He strode over toa side table, where a candle was placed. He brought it back to the table and set it down. "Watch this.."
He pointed his index finger at the wick of the candle and focused, on a spark, ntohing more, to shoot out. A small flame, more than he'd wanted but still, emerged from him finger setting the wick aflame. The fire on his fingertip was the enxtingueshed and he turend to Aphrodite for her reaction.
Aphrodite gasped! "Wow! Am I too littles do do that?" she asked, in total awe of what was before her. A feeling looped in her stomache it was her magic tingle! "Mageck!" she exclaimed pointing at the flame. "Ly mama! So cool! Too littles to try?"
Deimos nodded and ruffled her hair up with a finger. "You're to little, Smalls. Once you get bigger you can try, and we can both do magicks, k?" He said, snapping his fingers to make the fire die out. It didn;t die out immediatlyk, but flcikered, shuddered, then faded. "Besides, you woulnd't want to get burnt, would you Smalls?
She shook her head, her little hands were balled up into fists, she was so over joyed she wiggled. She lifted herself up in flight and zoomed around the room, it had changed a bit since the last time she came. Landing on the soft bed she climbed her way over and looked at the large (at least compared to her) paper. Scribbles and squibbles confused her though a few of the letters stuck out at her. "What Dei do-eng?" She asked looking up at him away from the paper.
Deimos made a face of disgust. "Math. It's evil, very very bad." He said, flopping onto the bed and setting the paper s on his night table. "Mother makes me do it. Says I need to know it."
"Mama's don't may you do bad tings." she blinked and then shrugged, flopping down on her butt on the soft blanket. "Bax mays me wite. He says it's good fer me, so I can read."
"Readings's ok, as long as the book is good." Deimos said with a faint shrug and a yawn, he shuffled. It was rather hard to sleep with his cloak, he always ended up tangled in it. "Writing and Math are boring though." He turned around entiely on the bed so his face was by where Aphrodite was laying. "How can you write anyways, Smalls? I have crayons bigger than you."
She blinked, the comment didn't phase her since well she knew she was smaller than most, but she had already met people as big as her and that had wings! Keeping her everlasting smile, she stood up. "Give me a crayon and papers and I show Dei."
Deimos nodded and tore of a piece of his mathpage. He handed that and a black crayon to Aphrodite and sat to watch. This was gonna be good.
Taking the black crayon from Deimos, she gripped it tightly with her hands. Pushing the tip of the crayon across the scrap of paper, she kept her head down watching it how it moved. Writing very slowly, but it worked. In the end she wrote the letter "A".
Deimosn chuckled. That was it? "I still think youre to little, Smalss." He said, taking the paper and crazyon back from her, still chuckling slightly.
Aphrodite blinked and then pouted in Deimos's direction.. but then a sinking feeling entered her stomache... a feeling a doom. " D-Deimos... I.. I tink I gotta goo now.." She turned the around thinking a monster would pop out from under the bed. She sniffled. "I gotta go back to my room.."
Deimos' eyebrow wing arched. "You sure, Smalls?" But he knew this was a dumb question so he started standing. "You want em to take ya back? Might be tiring to fly all the time." He said, staring for the door.
The tiny toddler shook her head, but then the thought of him taking her back made her feel better... then also the embarassment she'd receive would be far worse. Choices... choices. Finally she decided she'd go alone. Shaking her head quickly she looked up at Deimos. "No.. I.. I gotta go by myself. Bax and mama gonna be mad at me.." She said quietly. "I.. I go by myself... bye. " She frown quietly buzzing her way to kiss Deimos's nose. Looking away she flew her way over towards the door. Griping the door knob she buzzed with all her until it turned and opened the door. Taking a deep breath she rested on the knob and buzzed out of the room and into the hallway.
Deimso wasn;t really oen to take no for an answer though. He stood and followed her out the door. "Why would Bax and Di's Mumma be mad at ya? All you did was drop by." He said with a shrug.'
She hovered a bit, turning around to face him. "I.. I sneak. I sneak out of room to give you pessants" She frowned, remeberign the last time she didn't listen to her mother. She had no intention of going back in the basket. ".. I promised baby bruder I be back soon. I dun wana make Garreth cry, he's just a baby."
Deimos nodded and chuckled, understanding now. "I'll say I kept ya, k Smalls. Your mumma can't punish me." He said, rather proud of his plot. They'd both escape unscathed if it word out as planned. Besides, he liked sneaking out too, he wasn't about to let DI get in trouble for something he likes as well.
A feeling in her stomache bubbled, she needed to go back to the room now. "Oh..ok." She flew over towards Deimos, sitting on his shoulder, her stomache ache a bit, resisting the pull of the room. "Can we go quicks?"
Deimos nodded, watching her discomfort. He walked rather fast down the hallway. He climbed up the stairs two at a time and stopped in from of Aphrodites door. He raised his hand, knocking loudly on it. "Don't worry. Captain Deimos will fix things." He hoped.
The dread faded away as she approached the door... but then as soon as Deimos knocked on the door that horrible feeling reared it's ugly head as Baxterfullous made his way out of the cat door.
"Aphrodite Armouress Emilia Moonfire!"
She winced, she knew when her fullname was used it wasn't a very good sign.
"How dare you sneak out in the middle of the evening off on your own! I've been worried sick about you. When you're mother gets home from work we're going to have a talk." The sleek black cat flicked his tail and the door opened on it's own."...Now Deimos I am happy that you have brought her back now. It's best that we come inside and you go back to your room."
Deimos flinched slightly at the shouting, but he turned a steely gaze towards Bax. "Smalls made me bring her back. I wanted her to stay, kitty." He said, represing the urge to char the fur of the cat.
"What has passed has passed. Now, Aphrodite come into the room we will continue you writing lesson from yesterday." He paused, a gleam shone over his cobalt blue eyes and his ears twitched as though he was listening to... something. A lite gust of wind brushed by, though no windows were open. "... and you have homework if I heard correctly."
Aphrodite flew from Deimos's shoulder and into the room, it seemed nariko and garreth were playing infront of the open door that lead to the apartment. Sighign she sat herself down on the bed, waiting for punishment.
Deimos bristled. How did Bax know that? " I do, but I'm not doing it." He said blankly. "Working to much is never good." He said. He wanted to keep playing with Smalls.
A snort followed a small laugh, his laugh could make skin crawl. "And idle minds leave you no where." His stare was as steely as Deimos's. " I predict bad marks in your future."
Aphrodite laid on the bed, wiggling back and forth. She was bored, but she knew better than to get off. She was in big enough trouble as is.
"Now unless you want me to teach you a lessen, it's better you be off."
Deimos' eyes were ablaze now. "psh. Bad marks? Pirates don't care about marks.. Besides, I don't think a kitty like you could teach me much." He said snidely, his temper getting the better of him as spark, litterally, formed in his hands.
" If you insist, then let the lesson commence." Taking only a few steps forward, he flicked his tail as the door shut behind him by itself. Sitting up right, the tip of his tail flicked again as by some unseens force Deimos's tail was pulled between his legs, knocking the demon mishap off his feet. "Lesson one, know your opponent."
Deimos umphed loudly, and repressed a yelp as he fell to the ground, his tail tugged. That was enough. He pulled himself to his feet, forming a fireball in his hand. He heaved it at Bax, rage in his eyes. How.. How dare he?
"Ah, brute strength." There wasn't much time to comment but it was worth the wasted effort, his tail flicked again as once more as a ball of water was summoned before him. Enveloping the on comming fireball, extinguishing it's flame, Baxterfullous looked dreadfully bored. "Lesson two, know your weaknesses."
Deimos growled with anger. The door to his power swung open and flames crept up him from hsi hand oujtwards, until he was engulfed entirely in flames. He lunged at the cat, ready to barbeque him.
"By order of council I declare this a duel." Baxterfullous stated as soon as Deimos began to growl, a wisp of dark smoke surounded the cat, stretching and pulling at his form. A bestial scream errupted from the inky blackness. Then it stopped, the smoke clearly and out stepped a very tall and angry man. His skin was paler than the new fallen snow and his hair was as dark as the shadows that surrounded him. He was drapped in black and dark blue robes, and behind him was somethng strange... a cat tail? And atop his head protrude black cat ears.
His cobalt blue eyes stare as the charging Deimos, a mere wave of his hand a burst of water shot towards the demon mishap with such a force it would've knocked him right off his feet. " Let's repeat the begining of the lesson? Since you are such a slowl insufferable snot." He stepped quitely out of the way of the way of the door, his hand waving towards it, it shuttered quietly before he moved away from it.
Aphrodite blinked from where she sat, gulping. "I think uncle Baxie is mad." She flew over towards the door and down to the floor pushing at the plastic cat door, which didn't budge. "No move! Bad!" She smacked the plastic cat door.
"What tooks you?" A quiet voice came from behind, garreth pouted his head was on the ground..
"Deimos wanted to tell me something... I'm sorry I didn't come back quicks like I promised.." She sniffled rubbing her own eyes turning to her baby brother and hugging his face. "I sorries."
Deimos was tossed back, soaking wet onto the wall. He panted, trying to regain the breath that had just been knocked out of him. He looked up at Bax with a mixture of anger, awe and respect. He made an attempt at a fireball, but he was so wet, just the dripping from his hair put it out right away. He stayed on all fours, taking heavy breaths before he looked up into Bax's eyes, smirking.
"Ok.. You win, this time, Mr. Bax.." He said with a smidge of difficulty. He used the wall to stand, slipping up slightly with the pool of water at his feet but after a few attempts made it up.
"It seems we do not need to repeat the first two lessons after all..." His form dispersed into a inky wisp of smoke, turning back into his cat form. "... Since you've already mastered lesson three, knowing when to admit defeat."
A few whispered words left his mouth as all the water evaporated rather quickly, drying the floor, walls, and Deimos. "You have potentional, but you cannot harness it with such a chaotic mind. I am willing to teach, if you are willing to learn. "
Deimos smirked, regaining his breath. "Mother says not many teachers can handle me. I'm up to it if you are." He said, still leaning against the wall. He'd have a magic teacher now, one who could teach him to overcome his weaknesses. He wouldn't be weak against anything afterwards..
"I will begin lessons as soon as your mother agrees. You are to bring two blank notebooks, a pen, two pencils, assortment of school supplies, lunch, and a bag fit to carry these items." He flicked the tip of his tail, the door to Aphrodite's room shuddered once again. "I have taught many pupils, including Catherine, her mother, her grandmother and so forth. I now continue this tradtion with Aphrodite and soon the other two once they can grasp this concept... I do not dawdle and I teach what is worth knowing. I do not teach how ever failures and those who do not do their homework. I will not teach pupils who refuse to listen. It is now late, and I have to continue Aphrodite's lessons, goodnight. " Nodding quietly he walked into the room using the cat door.
Deimos gaped slightly. How'd he remeber all that. "I'll tell Mother then." He replied simply, running over the supplies in his head. He felt a feeling of dread wash over him. "Bye, then.. Tell Smalls bye." He said, walkign off.

--Consider Yourself Crispy- December 1st, 2005- Participants - Deimos, Jizzy, Lenore, Crow and the cripsified demon, Dobql
Crow lay on a blanket on the lawn, a book covering her face as she slept. Depression had spurred her out of her room, and the lack of sleep over the last few days had caught up with her at last. Cole lay next to her, letting Crow use his foreleg as a pillow in an amazing show of generousity. He watched Lenore run around with patience, ready to swoop down and protect her if need be.
Lenore ran around for sheer joy, jumping up once and awhile and gliding a few feet before landing hard on the grass again. After twenty minutes of running, gliding, and crashing, she sat down for a bit, laughing breathlessly and looking around to see if there was anyone to play with.
SHe'd finally convinced Deimos to come out, it was about time. She limped along, using only one of her crutches now, to keep wieght off of her sprained ankle. SHe needed fresh air though, badly. SHe looked up and spotting Crow, increased her pace. "Hey, Crow!" SHe called out, beaming. SHe hadn;t seen Crow in sucha long time.
Deimos was grumbling slightly. He didn't want to go outside in the winter chill. IT annoyed him. He refused to wear long sleeves so he drapped his claock around him for warmth. He looked up from the ground as his mother cried out, and his face broke intoa huge smile. "Len!!" He exclaimed, rushing to her. WHere had she been all this time?
Cole looked over at the new lady and grunted, shifting his leg so Crow's head hit the ground sharply. Waking up with a start and a gasp, she sat straight up and rubbed the back of her head ruefully. Looking around in confusion, she squinted blearily at the source of the cheerful greeting before giving a delighted screech.
"Jizzy!"
Jumping up and smiling, Lenore looked around, hardly daring to hope.
"DEI!"
Getting a running start, Lenore jumped up and glided to Deimos, crashing a few feet in front of him. Standing up and proudly dusting herself off, she examined her grass stained clothes in fascination before looking up and smiling at Deimos.
"You....grew."
Jizzy limped over to Crow cheerfully, having half a mind to just ditch the crutch and just walk, but she didn't, only flopping to the ground by Crow and leaving the crutch at her side. "SO how have you been? I haven't seen you in ages." SHe said.
"So did you. Last time I saw you, you were still in diapers." He said, purposefully, releasing his grip on hsi cloack, so that the tatoo on his arm showed. If he was going to show off, he'd do it properly.
The familiar twinge of pain shuddered through Crow briefly. She didn't know. The whole thing... no, it didn't make any difference. She wasn't about to dump anything on her friend right now.
"Ah, ya know...been here and there. How about you? How'd you get hurt?" she paused to examine the injury for a second. "Want me to beat someone up for ya?"
Goodness, Dei was different. He even sounded different.
"Yeah, Imma big girl now. Not too big, though - I get ta steal lotsa stuff an' no one even knows I do it 'cause I'm little." She gave a slightly wicked giggle, digging into the pocket of her skirt and showing Dei a pilfered bauble from her last time out into town.
"Stoled this right off a lady who was pinchin' my face 'cause she thought I was cute -isn't it pretty?"
The watch sparkled in the sunlight, its crystal face studded with little faux diamonds. Lenore regarded Dei carefully to see if he was impressed - she'd gotten so much better at stealing things, after all. As she looked him over, she noticed the tattoo.
"Pretty! Did your mumma draw it for you?"
"Oh.. uh this. Nah. I was ice skating and being the klutz that I am.. I kinda fell." SHe said. She'd been having loads of fun before the dumb skate crumpled under her. "I'm not the most coordianted person ever." She said with a non-chalant shrug. "Besides, Rico was right ready to knock the lights out of the guy at the skate kiosk, so I think he's been threatened enough."
Deimos was impressed. He was smirking and nodding in approval. "I don't steal much. Mother always catches me and makes me give it back. It's like she's.. phy.. uh she can read minds. But if you can steal, you'd make a good pirate. I'm a captain now, d'ya know?" He said, and his smirk grew wider as she noticed the tatoo.
"Nah, This I got from Jabir. I had a scar right here." He said, pointing to his forehead. "From a cross, and Jabir moved it over to my arm. It's permanent." He said, his chest puffing up slightly in pride.
Crow winced in sympathy.
"I feel your pain - at least you didn't walk headfirst into a sliding glass door. I've done that about ten times in the past few weeks." She laughed, relaxing and feeling happy for the first time in a long while. Looking slyly at Jizzy, she propped her chin on her hand and leaned in a bit closer.
" 'Rico'? Do my ears decieve me, or is there a boy in the picture now?"
The tattoo made Dei look really tough. Admiring its spiky shape, she pocketed the watch again and thought for a second.
"You a cap'tin? Tha's neat. I can be a piwa-no, a piira....pirate. Umph. I get to be one too?"
She smiled brightly for a second, but then her face fell.
"Umm...what's a pirate?"
Jizzy chuckled, and nodded, her cheeks going a tinge of pink. "Can't get anything past you, now can I.." She said, shifting, so her ankle was less of a bother. "Yah. He's Chao's twin, ya know her? She has a mishap too, so you might have seen her around." She said, smiling.
"SUre. You can be part of my crew, Len." He siad, nodding, but he made a small eye rolla nd a sigh as Lenore asked. "Pirates sail the seventeen seas and plunder and steal from town and ride in ships. Liek Jack Sparrow does, in the movie." He said, hoping she'd seen it.
Crow gave a sneaky smile.
"I'm perceptive that way, you know."
Chao, huh? Didn't ring any bells...
"I haven't really met anyone around. Just you, Azumi...and Rabid. Not really big on the social scene."
Lenore's eyes went huge as Dei explained. Oh, it sounded wonderful - to steal not just for fun? Now that was the life for her. She'd never been in a ship before but what the heck, there was a first time for everything!
"Woooow...sounds aw'some." Pausising to think for a second, she tried to remember where she'd heard that name before. It clicked after a few seconds.
"Oh, yes, yes! I know him - Mama's got lots of movies with him in it, but he doesn't call himself Jack in those ones. My favorite's From Hell - I think Mama likes it to 'cause he's got a nice accent in that one. She says she's got a squish - no, a...um...a CRUSH on him. I just like him 'cause it was a scary movie. People got killed in it!"
Lenore smiled and bounced on her heels, getting more excited by the second as she thought of her new title.
"Imma pirate now!"
"Oh, well she's relatively new. I've been kinda stuck at HQ for a while so I've been with loads of people. I don't know any of the newest guardians though." She said, purposely steering away from the topic of Rico. "It's hard to keep up with it. Children seem to multiply like rabbits here."
Deimos beamed. Another recruit to his crew, and it was Len. Like torching two birds with one fireball. "Now you can pillage and plunder and get scuuuurvy." Whatever scurvy was. "And I'll have your back whenever we go plundering. I can torch anyone that gets in your way." He said, smirking. "Did you know? I can burn things now?" He said with pride, now this was soemthing he hoped would impress Len.
"Huh. I'll have to try to keep track of 'em better."
Stretching and cracking her knuckles contentedly, Crow rolled over onto her stomach and propped herself up on her elbows.
"Anything else happen while I was out of the social scene?"
Oooh. Scurvy. Sounded neat, in a pirate-y sort of way.
And Dei could burn things now? Dude, that was just cool.
"Can you show me how you do it?" Len asked innocently. She wanted to see Dei's special thing - then she could show him how well she could glide. It was almost like flying now that she'd gotten so much practice in.
Jizzy pondered a while and shrugged. 'Not much that I can say. Dei got a brother, went into the forest, got himself into a load of trouble, oh and yah. He can burn things now. I ahd to fireproof the entire house!" Jizzy made a large sweeping movement with her hadns. 'And still he manages to find ways to burn his homework."
Deimos beamed and nodded. He'd been waiting to show her. He set out his palm and focuses, openeing the door that kept his fire at bay. Sparks formed in his hand and then with a poof a fireball appeared in it, flickering and swayying with the wind. "Nice, ain't it?' He said.
Crow gave another sympathetic wince.
"Sheesh. Well...at least he hasn't set fire to you yet, right?" she asked half-jokingly.
"Wait...homework? Did you enroll Deimos at a school? Aren't the other kids a little...well, nervous around him?"
"Whoa."
Lenore watched the bright ball of flames in amazement. It was the most awesome thing she'd ever seen - to make fire just by willing it into being!
"Wish I could do that," she mumbled, flexing her long fingers and trying to imagine what it would feel like to conjure fire whenever she wanted. What could she do that was special, anyway?
Looking up suddenly and grinning slyly, she flared her razor feathers like a peacock.
"I can fly, yanno. D'you wanna see?"
"I couldn;t enroll him yet. Not with the holidays so enar, not much point in having him start. I'm teaching him some basics for now and enrolling him once January rolls along. I expect I'll become fast friends with the school nurse." SHe said with a shudder. She dreaded the day she'd send Deimos off to school.
That's when he remebered it. "Right! Len, Jabir told me to tell you that laters, you and I can go learn to fly together!" He'd entirely forgotten abotu that. 'I can't fly at all, you gotta show me how you do it!" He said.
Crow gave a low whistle.
"Man. I can just imagine what gym class is gonna be like when they get to play dodgeball." A fleeting vision of Deimos laughing in victory on top of a pile of children with rubber ball-concussions flashed through her mind, and she had to stifle a laugh.
"Maybe once Len goes through another spurt, we can enroll 'em together. She and him get along so well."
Lenore puffed out her chest in pride and gave a knowing smile.
"It's pretty easy once you get the hang of it - I'm half a bird anyways, so it's real easy for me. C'mon, I'll show you how!"
Running off clumsily to the playground, she deftly climbed up the monkey bars and perched on the top. Smiling as a slight breeze ruffled her wild hair, she felt her body instinctively prepare itself for flight. Her tail of feathers spread and lowered, and her razor feathers rippled together as one to make solid sheet-metal wings.
"Watch!"
Throwing herself off the monkey bars, she plummeted to earth before arching her body into a U-shape. She swooped up and did a clumsy mid-air somersault before losing altitude and flopping onto the ground with a dull thud. Sitting up and blushing at the dud of a flight, she gave a silly giggle.
"Okay, so it's a lil' harder than I said. Still fun, though."
She looked Deimos over in curiosity. Jabir said they'd be able to fly together?
"Dei, how can you fly if you only gots those lil' wings on your head? I gots big wings and I still can't fly too good. Can your cape make you fly? Like....like...like a super-hero? Are you a super-hero pirate?"
Jizzy chuckled. "By gods they'll be the terror of the school. I can see the fire and destruction already." SHe joked around, well partially. She totally though the fire part would happen. "But I'm sure he'd enjoy having Len around, though."
Deimos beamed in approval. He wished he could fly like that, but he hadn't quite gotten the hang of it yet. "I dunno how I fly, Jabir just said I could. I guess I could be liek a super-hero, but I'm not sure." He said with a shrug. His tail swished around, her feather attached tightly to it. "I can try though!" He said and started up the monkey bars.
He reached the top in no time flat and perched himself carefully on the top. Takign a breath he leapt, and plummeted. Well that didn;t end out to well.
Crow did laugh this time.
"Jeezaloo. King and queen of mass destruction and doom. They'd have the toughest bully crying by lunch time."
"Uh-oh."
When Dei said he couldn't fly...man, he'd meant it.
"Dei? Are...are you 'kay?"
"He'd be lucky if he was just crying." SHe said, imagine the bnig bad bully handing over his lunch to Deimos. "WHat worries me is if he ever does chemistry...." SHe felt a chill voercome her at the damage costs.
Deimos moaned slightly as he stood up, wiping dirt from hsi shirt. His face sort of hurt and he didn't notice the blood trickling from his nose. "Urgh, well, yah. Told ya I wasn't to great.." He said pickign some leaves out of his hair.
"Well, if worse comes to worst, we could pack up and head to Mexico if they blow up the school," Crpw said mildly, imagining the look on Len's face as she egged Deimos on into adding just one more drop of vinegar and into a baking soda and lit cherrybomb-packed science fair model volcano.
Come to think of it, she'd like to see what would happen, too.
"I'll say. Grav'ty and you don't get along too good, huh?"
Clucking her tongue when she saw his bloody nose, she dug into another of her skirt pockets and produced a pilfered monogrammed handkerchief. Toddling over and offering the gold-threaded thing to Dei, she picked a leaf out of his hair with a giggle.
" S'okay, though. Once I get big, I'll teach ya how in no time. Then we can be flyin' super-pirates!"
" Oh yes Mexico! No winter. Just warmth. Let's go now." Jizzy said, exitedly. She was never one for cold weather. "Gaian winters are not my style. I knwo some nice beaches in Mexico, and by gods the food is great."
"Nah we don't really." He said taking the ketchief and placing it by his nose. He pulled it away. Blood. He was bleeding? Oh well. He said, placing the kerchief back on to stem the flow.
"I bet you'll get big soon. You gotta tell me as soon as you do, k. Well go out 'sploring." He said, still using his toddler term for exploring. Some things never changed.
Crow's eyes lit up. She'd only been joking, but if Jizzy did want to go...
"I've been meanin' to work on my sun tan anyway," she said, looking ruefully at her eternally pale skin. "When d'you wanna go? After they blow up the school, or after they hog-tie a bully and hoist him up on the flagpole?"
Lenore gave a serious nod. She wanted to grow soon. Dei wouldn't want to hang around with her if she stayed little like this for much longer - super-hero pirates with neat tattoos had lots of important things to do that little kids would just get in the way of.
Looking around a bit aimlessly, she twisted her skirt shyly in her hands.
"D'you wanna go 'sploring now?"
"Hmm.. The explosions me thinks. That will get us in mroe trouble than the hog tieing." She thought. 'But the hog-tieing may lead to laysuits. So I say Mexico after explosions and Aruba afte hog-tieing. We can go on "business". " SHe said, makign her fingers do the quotations, smirking.
"Sure, Len. Where though. The forest..." Well, Deimos shuffled. He wasn't ready to take on the forest yet, even with his fire. "The forest doesn't like me all to much. Last tiem I went in, a tree attacked me."
Crow nodded eagerly.
"And maybe Cuba or Haiti in case they decide to liberate the class gerbils and set 'em free in the cafeteria. The possibilities are endless!"
Lenore gave a profound shudder and a sniffle as an unwelcome memory rushed back to her. Shivering as though with cold, she gave the forest a long, sad look before pointing randomly towards the green house.
"I....I don't like the woods, either. Bad stuff happen in there. Let's go look in the glass place - maybe there's somethin' neat to steal in there."
"Oh we'll be on vacation so much, we'll end up extra crispy." She said chuckling. "The problem with me and beaches is that I don't tan. I burn." SHe said, nodding slightly.
Deimos nodded in agreement and started off to the greenhouse, still keeping the stolen kerchief at his nose. The bleeding ahd stopped for the most part, but he'd rather keep it there for a while longer.
"I'll try to steal something for ya Len. Ok?" He said, glanicng at the building, wodnering what it would be that he could get her.
Stretching back down on the blanket, Crow gave a sigh.
"We'll get used to it - we might have to, since I have the most nagging feeling we'll be on the run for awhile..."
Cheering up a bit, Lenore skipped beside Dei as they wandered nearer to the glass-house thing.
"I like shiny stuff - do pirates steal lots of shiny things? Like jewl'ry and glasses and keys? I like keys - I got lots in my secret hidey-box under my bed. I gots a couple aminals I took, too! Well, more like lil' robots, but they're kinda alive, so I guess they're aminals too. What kinda stuff have you taked, Dei?" she asked, her rapid-fire questions signifying all was once again well.
Jabir walked to the garden looking for Crow. He had seen her and Len going there earlier It only took him a few seconds to spot the two guardians talking, although he couldn't see Len anywhere nearby. Oh well...
"Hello Jizzy, Crow. I hope I'm not interrupting anything but I've got something here about Lenore" he handed Crow the note he had kept in one of his pocketsQuest Dear Crow, Im sure youve noticed, or maybe not, that little things have been disappearing from the house, and other places, while others that you dont ever remember buying are popping up here and there in your quarters... Well, it seems that our shiny lil raven girl has something to do with that. Turns out that Lenore has been "picking pockets" a little too much for her own safety. As legal guardian it's up to you to decide how to handle this matter and how to 'break the habit while its young' before your charge gets into some real trouble. Best of luck, The Mishap Staff "I share the feeling. It's like doom is breathing down my neck. I knwo it's there, it just hasn't struck quite yet." SHe said, leaning back onto her hands, lookin up at the icy winter sky for a moment. WHen Jabbir approach she looked up, leaning over Crow to read the note. "A quest! Len's gonna be a kid too. See, our palns are working perfectly!"
"Pirates steal loads of shiny things! The pirates taht have ships go to islands and bury big ol wodden boxes, like this big!" He made the indication of the large box with his hands. "They fill those up with gold and crowns and jewels and all sorts of stuff!" He said. "And as for me, I haven't taken much, not without getting caught. I stoled pirate sybol, and you pendant." He pointed to the blood pilled vial. "I stole the vial for that."
Crow gave Jabir a stunned look that quickly shifted to joy.
"All RIGHT! Looks like they'll be blowin' up stuff sooner than we thought!" Her joy died down a little as she read the note.
"Wait...she's been stealing stuff?"
Pushing the door open to the glass-thing, Lenore tried to imagine what kind of pretty things pirates stole all the time. Probably things like jewels and watches, and quarters. Lots and lots and lots of quarters.
"There's an island out on the pond! Did you bury lots of shiny stuff with the rest of your crew-thing?"
Toying with her blood-pendant, she stopped to admire the wintry sunlight that made the gently sloshing liquid within sparkle.
"I never take it off, ya know. It's my favorite thing in the whole world, 'cept for the bracelet Bah- no....Mawlakiiii...Mah-la-chi....oh, ya know, Rabid's kid. He gave me a pretty black bracelet." She stuck out her arm to show Dei the bracelet.
"Imma be a real good pirate - we'll steal somethin' from everyone in the whole world."
Jabir was a bit confused at the whole plan thing they kept mentioning, but he decided not to ask. It wasn't anything of his business
"Apparently she has. Raven insticts kicking in most likely" he replied at Crow's statement
Suddently realizing the time he said "I must go now. If you need any help do bother me or Maggie about it" he winked and left
Crow blushed a little too obviously and cleared her throat awkwardly.
"Instincts. Yeah. Uh, see ya later, Jabir. Say hi to Maggie for me."
Dude, I'm never stealing another thing in front of Len again, she thought to herself in embarrasment. Bad habits die hard, but she didn't think Len would pick up on Crow's dishonest skills so well...
Jizzy arched an eyebrow as she heard stealing things. "Well.. I'm sure you can find a way to cure her sticky fingers." She said,m trying to break the nervous air. "For Dei's quest, he had to face Erebus, a master demon thats currently taking residence inside Dei. It wasn't all to pleasant, I can assure you."
"Not yet. I have no ship,a nd I can't fly." He didnd't want to admit that he still didn't know how to swim, what kind of pirate couldn't swim. Certainly not a good one.
"I never take off you feather either." He said, bringing around his tail where the feather was strapped on tight. "And this too." He said, lifting up and inverted cross he wore across his neck. "Di gave me that, just kinda like Ike gave you that." He said peering aroudn the lush green house. Too many greens in here, nto enough shinies.
"We'lll be terrors of the seventeen seas!!"
Crow blinked in surprise.
"Jeez, he's got a demon in him? How're you supposed to get him out?
Looking around in the humid glass room, Lenore tried to see if there were any shiny things worth stealing. There were some nice flowers here and there, but nothing too shiny caught her eye...
"Yeah - we could have a whole army o' ships - maybe four or five, an' we could steal stuff from all over th' world and be famous and maybe we could be in a pirate movie too!"
Looking over at Dei's tail, she smiled as she saw the feather tied there.
"I could give ya one of my old sharpy feathers too - when I growed the las' time, they got all not sharp and safe. I give 'em as p'sents to my friends."
Pausing to sniff at an aromatic blue and purple flower that hung down from a thick vine, Lenore sneezed as the whitish pollen tickled her nose.
"Hmmm. Does your crew-thing have a name? It could be a good, scary name that ever'one be scared ta say - maybe like th'...th'....well, I dunno. What'd be a scary name?"
"THat's the trouble. They're sort of, bound together. It's got something to do with Dei's spell. Supposedly it was supposed to banish Erebus, but from what I hear, all it did was lock him inside a new body. Dei's body." She said with a sigh. Ever since she'd learned this she'd grown increasingly worried about him and how Erebus was acting.
Deimos smiled at the prospect of being captain of more than one ship. "If you gave me another feather, I'd need to find something fo mine to give to you." He said, and he didn;t really knwo what else he could give Len without ripping out half his cloak.
His eyes scanned the floor for any signs of buried treasure, but found nothing. "I dunno what our name is yet. But it should be scary, like that Voldy dude from Harry Potter." He said, and set off to thinking. He'd have to really really really think about this. What would his crew be called? Dei's pirates, albiet awesome, didn't really isntill much fear.
"Boy oh boy, but I'm sure that's gonna lead to trouble."
Crow couldn't think of what could possibly happen, but the possibilities were, after all, limitless. Preferring not to think of the damage that Lenore would most likely be cheering on like some sort of deranged cheerleader, she shook her head looked at the scribbled quest note again.
"Huh. Maybe I should get her to return all the stuff she took and make a public apology," Crow said, more to herself than to Jizzy.
Picking a pretty black-petaled flower and sticking it in her hair, Lenore twirled and made her skirt flare out around her.
"You don't need ta give me nuthin', Dei. You's my friend an' friends give stuff 'cause it makes friends happy, not 'cause they wants somethin' back."
Hopping in a slightly bird-like fashion around the plant-crowded floor, she looked up through the glass ceiling and squinted out at the blue winter sky.
"Huh. What'd be a good scary name..." Mama had read her all the Harry Potter books, and she was rather partial to the fearsome title of Death Eater. But, it wouldn't have quite the same ring to it with a group of ragtag pirates who were, well....not homicidal dark wizards.
"It might be a lil' harder than I thought to make one up," she said toying with the stem of the black flower.
"I suppose. That thought might get her pretty pissed at you." Jizzy said matter-of-factly. She knew that Deimos got rather angry whenever he was made to do something he didn't want to, and he wasn't easy to persuade either. She didn't know if this was the case for Lenore as well.
Deimos, brushhed his hands across the floor as he spotted somethign shiny, but tossed the old bottlecap away in dismay. that was no treasure. "I'm sure we'll find a name 'ventually and when we do it'll be something great. Myabe it will be so good it'll scare our Mother's too." He said in exitement.
"Well, if she's become this bad a kleptomaniac, I'm not too concerned if she's gonna get mad at me." Crow replied, still frowning at the note.
"Jeez. This is gonna be tough..."
Picking up the bottlecap Dei had discarded, Lenore looked it over carefully before putting it in her pocket.
"Never know when it could come in handy," she said, toying with the bit of refuse in her already stuffed skirt pocket.
Venturing further into the mass of plants, she gave a squeak of surprise as one of the vines reached out and tried to wrap around her arm. As it tightened, the crisp stalk was split by her flared razor feathers. Somewhere in the depths of green, the grabbing plant gave a yelp and withdrew its injured vine, leaves rattling at Lenore in anger.
Lenore drew back a little, eyes wide. She bumped against a fluffy flowered potted plant behind her and tipped it, making the plant screech in annoyance as it pushed out its roots to right itself again.
Looking around and scooting back to Deimos, she wiped a bit of the grabbing plant's milky white sap off her razor feathers.
"Dang-erous plants in here," she said mildly, trying to get the sticky sap off her fingers.
A loud snapping and breaking sound could heard coming from within the walls, ceilling and floor. The whole structure started to tremble and change, taking a new, bigger and more elaborate form It didn't take long before it stoped, but nothing was in the same place anymore
The once 'small' green area had now turned into a huge place To the north a huge sea-like lake covered most of the landscape, with a set of islands floating in the distance To the east a higly ridged mountain rose from the ground, with a luxuriant forest growing at its feet. A small road was barely visible, going all the way up and then disapearing to the other side To the west and south the once forbidden woods were now a large dark forest. And between it, the lake and the river stood a complex of buildings that were the newly formed farm
And the inside the HQ had also suffered a drastic change. It was now much bigger and taller than before, despite of the 2nd an3rd floor fusing together On the first floor a whole new area had been added on the east side, dedicated to the instruction of the Mishaps The older blue, red and yellow areas had also changed. New rooms were added and the older ones were wider than before
The Mishaps rooms were now placed in a new disposition, all of in one single floor now. They too had expanded, giving the guardians and their children a much wider space to live in Also a new magic was given to them, allowing the rooms to be chaged directly by the guardians whenever they needed
And as for the 3rd floor, the attic had lowered and merged with it, while the minishop inflated its space. Also a semi-natural pond and luxuriant vegetation covered the rest of the now soil covered floor.
Jizzy held on to the ground, eyes wide as the whole HQ began to change. She wtached the greenhouse be plled further and further from HQ and she cursed slightly. The rumbling stopped, the terrian foriegn to her. "Crow. I think Len and Dei are all the way over there now.." She whispered, pointing off into the greenhouse in the distance.
Deimos fought to keep his footing as the ground shook. What was going on? He looked ooutside the glass walls and saw the picnic blanket with thier mothers growing further and further away. "Damn." He cursed, instictively taking Lenore's hand. Ifthey were already seperated from thier mothers, he sure as hell didn't want to get seperated from Lenore. His eyes darted around for any killer plants or moving floors.
Crow squinted out into the distance, where the sudden surge of movement had dragged the greenhouse.
"Ah, shoot."
Lenore, having already felt the earth move beneath her feet during her encounter with Sabriel, gave an irritated sigh and held tight onto Deimos.
"Ever'thing's been changin' lately," she said calmly. "Ever'things gettin' bigger."
She gave the vine that was creeping over her shoulder a dirty look, and the bristly tendril withdrew hastily as she flared her razor feathers almost boredly.
"C'mon, Dei - lotsa new stuff tah look at, iffen whe're really far away from home."
Tugging at his hand impatiently, Lenore skittered towards the door, her pockets jangling with their stolen contents.
Jizzy cussed slightly as she tried to get to her feet, but her ankle retorted painfully and she flopped back down by Crow. "Ypou think they can find there way back?"
Deimos actually growled at the vine that came too close to Len. He snapped his fingers, flames dancing between them and shoved them towards the plants. They hissed and shrunk back as Deimos went along with Lenore through the greenhouse. "I hope the new stuff isn't as dumb as these plants." He said as a vine meeped and yelped as its leaves got singed by Deimos flame.
Crow stood and brushed herself off, shading her eyes with one hand and biting her nails with the other.
"Well, I hope so. We better start walkin', just in case something out there tries to eat them or something."
With the plants kept at bay with the combined threats of slashing and burning, Lenore lead Dei out of the suddenly much larger green house. Lookig around in fascination, she noted the new landscape with appreciation. Enormous fruits and vegetables grew in abundance in a sprawling patch near them - her stomach was growling to obviously to ignore.
"Hmm. Let's go git some lunch, Dei," she said cheerfully. Scuttling into the freakishly large garden, she helped herself to a softball-sized chunk of grape from one of the vines and ate it with gusto.
"Biiiig fruitses."
Jizzy nodded solemly and made another clumsy attempt to stand. With the aid of her crutches she was finally up and hobbling along beside Crow, heading towards the greenhouse. "I sure as hell hope thye haven't added more stairs to get to my room.. If they have, heads will rooolll!" She said. SHe hated hated HATED these crutches.
Deimos made a final hiss at the greenhouse plants before he extunguished the fire in his hand. He followed Lenore into the huge garden, lookign around in slight awe. "It's so huge! I bet if we eat these we'll get really big!" He said, spotting an apple the size of a beach ball and, with some difficulty, tore it off it's branch. He took a large bite out of the fruity green goliath and smiled. THis stujff was great.
Wandering deeper into the garden, feasting on her pilfered chunk of grape, Lenore looked at the plants with wide eyes. Everything was so big - and too tempting to resist. Abandoning her grape chunk in favor of a bit of a watermelon-sized cherry tomato, she sat in the shade of a towering cabbage and ate contentedly. She was about to attack a low-growing patch of blueberries when a cheerful singing caught her ear from behind the cabbage. It was too high-pitched, and a tad too cheerful, to belong to Dei.
Scrambling to climb the thick leaves, she perched on top of the cabbage to find the singer. She spied him quickly - a tiny creature with a whipping tail and a row of spikes growing from his spine, matching the cruelly hooked spikes sticking out of his nose and lips. Lenore watched him in fascination as he toiled to dig up an enormous carrot.
"Mortal blood and mortal bone. spiky nasty sharp ol' stone, to hunt for baby Night-y.
Rusty nails and ol' dogs tails, cat o' nines and nightshade wine, mortal hair and mortal flesh, to feed the baby Night-y.
Nighty, Nighty, whot ye want? Little girls eyes, or little boys tongues? Feed th' baby Nighty whot it wants, and burn th' hapless mor-tals!"
The little creature sang it hideous song in a musical, lilting voice, its verses punctuated by wicked laughter as it scrabbled for the carrot.
Lenore shuddered as she listened to the evil song, though she hummed along to it unknowingly. Flaring her razor feathers and howling a battle cry, she leapt off the cabbage and landed near the creature.
"Who are you, and why is you stealin' our carrotses?" she yelled at the thing angrily.
The creature jumped and turned, staring at Lenore curiously.
"Well met, well met! Does it wants a bit? I trade fer that pretty blood ye wear 'round your neck, little lady Raven-Born."
Deimos was very full and very content once he finished his large apple, leaving the core to lie in the shade of the tree. He looked around, searching for Len. Where'd she gone to? He stood slowly, his stomach heavily laden with fruity goodness and he set off in search for her. "Len!" He cried out, hoping to ehar a reply among the overgrown fruit.
Lenore grabbed at her vial pendant and clutched it tightly, eyeing the creature with suspicion.
"I isn't tradin' it," she said flatly. Looking him over, she crept a bit closer to the creature.
"What is you?"
The creature bowed with a flourish.
"Th' name's Dobql - duergarr extrodinaire, at ye service."
"What d'you want?"
Dobql jerked a thumb at the half-unearthed carrot.
"Gettin' dinna for meself, o'course. Why izzit that a noble kree-cher like yaself is in a little out o' the way veggie patch like this? Izzit your court's? Iffen it 'tis, I wasn't meanin' to do no harm-"
Lenore cut him off with a confused shake of her head.
"My court's? What d'you mean?"
Dobql leaned against the carrot and looked at Lenore as though she was talking madness.
"Pfft! Innit obvious? You's a Unseelie, through an' through, so obviously an Unseelie is livin' in their court's land! Ain't part-i-cularly bright, are ye, Raven-Born?"
Lenore stiffened.
Unseelie?
She'd heard the word a couple times before - once, from Julian, and once, from the white fire that had swallowed her a few weeks ago.
She was about to grab Dobql and shake more information from him when she heard Dei calling for her.
"DEI! CAP'TIN! Over here! Help!" she called out to him, seizing Dobql and glaring at him.
Deimso was about to smile when he heard Lenore's voice. He'd found her. But as soon as the cry of help reached his ears, he bristled. His cloak fluttering slightly.
He began to run, not walk, to where he heard the voice and came to a sliding halt, fireball forming in his hand to torch whatever wa shurting Lenore. His eyes were ablaze as he gazed down at the small imp.
"You ok, Len?" He asked, looking at them both. Lenore seemd to have the creature under control, but still, he kept the fireball ablaze as he moved to her side. Erebus piped up in his mind, though it was distorted and muffled thanks to all the defenses Deimos had formed against him.
Holding Dobql by the collar of his shirt, Len picked him up and showed him to Dei.
"We got's us a thief," she said, angry for no reason she could think of.
Dobql writhed in Lenore's grip, trying to get loose.
"Wasn't doing no harm! Wasn't doing nuffink - jus' gettin' summat to eat! Lemme go, Alecto, lemme go!"
Lenore twitched and let Dobql go instinctively, confusion whirling in her mind.
"Alecto?"
Dobql rolled his eyes.
"Don't know nuffink at all anymore, does ya?" he asked sympathically before turning to run.
Snapping out of her confusion, she snatched Dobql back up again.
"Alrighty, tha's it. Start talkin', or me an th' Cap'tin start doing, uh, mean things." she said in as threatening a manner as she could, feeling a bit guilty as Dobql turned frightened eyes up to her.
"Pirates is mean and nasty to whoever get's 'em mad, right, Dei?" she said, twiggy finger firmly wrapped about Dobql's neck.
Deimos' eyes were still flaring as he brough the flame in his hand near Dobql. "I wonder how long it will take him to burn, Len." He said, in a low, and slightly creepily exited voice. He glanced up at the creature. "I don't give him longer than ten minutes.. unless he tells Len what she wants to know.." He said softly, smirking. Oh how his pirate heart was content.
Dobql stared at Dei with huge eyes.
"Needn't threaten - you and I, we almost kin, er, Cap'tin."
Wincing as Lenore's grip on his neck tightened, he looked up at the girl dolefully.
"Whot izzit you wants?"
"What the bloody hell is an Unseelie, and why'd you just call me Alecto?" Lenore demanded, smiling at Dei craftily.
"I dunno, Dei, I think he'd burn much faster n' that. Mebbe if I slice him up a lil' bit first - he could burn REAL good then."
Dobql gave a squeal and looked at Deimos again.
"Ye wouldn't!"
"Kin, eh? You must be a friend of Erebus' then.." He said with a smirk. "I'm sure he won't mind you burning.." He said, pushing the flame so that the tips licked Dobql's legs.
"And I wouldn't hesitate. Once Len gave me the word, you could consider yoruself crispy." He said. THis.. this was fun.. It agve hima thrill, a sense of power.
Dobql gave a scandalized yelp as the licks of flame flickered under him.
"Alright, alright! You, ye nasty lil' bugger, are the magical mistake and meant-to-be slave-creature of that inept b***h of a witch Aubrey Tenbloom - An Unseelie orphan soul enslaved to do the dirty work of filthy mortals! I will say no more to ye, Alecto, ye dirty lil' outsider - go find the witch, and seek out the answers ye desire." he snapped sullenly, trying with all his might to prise himself free of Len's grasp.
Lenore gave Dobql a sound shake before grabbing his tail with her other hand and beginning to whirl him around in a wide arc.
"I'm NOT dirty, I'm NOT a mistake, and my name is LENORE!" she said angrily, heedless of Dobql's squeals as she whirled him 'round by his spiky tail. Releasing him so that he soared high into the air, she turned on Dei with furious tears in her eyes.
"Dei, LIGHT HIM!"
Deimos, for a split second, was slightly shocked. Noon ahd veer asked him to light anything before, ussually asking the opposite. But he saw Lenore's furious tearstained face, anger roared inside him. He spun to where Dobql was tossed, and tossed the raging fireball from his hand. He'd burn for making Len cry...
Dobql gave a shriek as the fireball struck him, setting the seat of his trousers ablaze.
"Ja'allak ma gralt!" he wailed as he soared through the air, landing hard on the lawn and bolting for the forest, frantically patting at his smoldering bottom.
Lenore gave an angry sniffle and wiped her tears away roughly.
"I'm NOT dirty," she shouted after Dobql.
And my name's Lenore. Stupid duergarr. Stupid Dobql. Stupid Unseelie-thing!
Leaning against the cabbage wearily, she looked at Deimos.
"Dun tell an'one 'bout this, 'kay? I gots tah figure its out on my own, if that stupid Dobql-thing wasn't jus' lying to gets outta trouble."
She hesitated.
"Iffen I go look fer that Aubrey lady, would you come with me?"
Crow watched a flaming, screeching thing fly out of the newly-made giant vegetable patch in mild fascination. Turning to Jizzy and pointing at the patch, she gave a half-amused sigh.
"There they are."
"Course I'd come, Len. A Captain's got to take care of his crew." He said, taking the slightly bloodstained hankerchief Lenore had givven him to stop his nosebleed and patting away a few stray tears before handing it to her. "And if you need me to set anyone else on fire, I'll do that too." He offer, smiling down at her.
Jizzy sighed as the flaming something flew over. Yup, they were there alright. SHe hobbled over to it, hoping that whatever it was that was a flame couldn't sue. "Deimos." SHe called out, stepping over the core of a fully eaten huge apple.
Lenore looked at Dei fondly and sniffled again, giving him a soldier's salute.
"Thanks, Cap'tin."
And once I finds that Tenbloom lady, Dei's gone have LOTS of stuff tah burn, she thought angrily. It was time to get this Unseelie-business sorted out once and for all.
"Len? Where are you?" Crow called, fighting her way through the giant vegetables, and tripping over the apple core Jizzy had so easily avoided.
"Ow."
Jizzy stopped as she heard Crow fall behind her. "Crow? You ok?" She said, toddling back over to her fallen friend.
Deimos could hear their voices now. "Mother's looking for us. We should go before they start freaking out." He said. He knew his own mother got a bit jittery whenever he was gone too long.
Crow gave a sigh as she pushed herself up, brushing loose soil off her face and laughing at herself.
"Yeah, I'm okay. Just proving once again I have the same sense of balance as a toothpick."
Nodding and taking Dei's hand, she wandered out of their hidden bit of the patch and into plain view.
"Mama! We - you tripped again, din't you?" she said tolerantly, trying not to laugh at Crow.
Crow made a face at Len and straightened her twisted clothes, grinning.
"Ah, hush up, Songbird."
Deimos did chuckle at Crow though, and spotting his apple core at her feet, he laughed a bit more. "You tripped on that didn't ya?" He said, forcing himself not to break out laughing.
Jizzy went over to Deimos. "Yah, but Dei.. what was that flaming thing flying through the air just a minute ago?"
Deimos chuckling faded and his mind raced. Make something up, make something up.. "Grape.. Bad one too, tasted nasty.." He said hurriedly.
Jizzy could have sweatdroped. "Yah well, anyways, we should probbaly be heading home.." SHe said smiling and started back out. He'd set someone on fire.. again!
Deimos scratched the back of his head, chuckling. "Well, guess I'll see you later, Len. Remeber to tell me once you grow so we can go flying together." He cried out, waving at Len and Crow defore dashing off.
"Okay, Jizzy. See ya later." Crow said, picking Lenore up and giving Deimos a look halfway between amusement and irritation, rolling her eyes.
Lenore hugged Crow tightly, a secret smile on her face as she waved goodbye to Dei.
"See ya later, Cap'tin!"

--Pizza anytime- December 2nd, 2005-- Participants - Deimos, Shavira and Kii
KiiMeLwi stumbled into the kitchen, yawning widely and eyes barely open. Her hair went uncombed, and she was wearing an old bathrobe over her dragon PJs. She had just recently woken from a nap by a hungry Shavira, so the two of them had now found themselves in the kitchen. Kii was so tired...
Shavira bounced into the room, Slinky L. Ophi around her neck and Jungie on her head. Her snakes weren't very happy with all this bouncing, but Shavira didnt seem to even notice. She seemed to be the complete opposite of what Kii was feeling.
"Mama, mama! What we eat now?" She sang her words, and bounded over to KiiMeLwi, tugging on her bathrobe. "Mama! Wakey!"
KiiMeLwi shook her head, and smiled down at Shavira. "Oh, I'm sorry sweetie. What would you like to eat?"
Deimos yawned slightly as he trod to the kicthens, adjusting his bandana onto his head. He'd gonan the nighttime munchies, so he'd snuck out, again.
He rubbed his eyes as he strode in spotting Kii and Shavira and just nodding a greeting. " 'Lo.." He said, opening the fridge with another yawn.
KiiMeLwi blinked heavily at Deimos, hardly being able to register who he was let alone what he had said. "Oh! Deimos! *yawn* ..What are you *yawn* doing here alone?" She covered her mouth and rubbed her eyes, trying to wake up as much as she could.
Waving furiously at Deimos, Shavi grinned at the older Mishap. "Dei dei! Hewwo!" She clung onto Slinky, waiting for a chance to be able to introduce him. "Dei hungwy?"
Deimos mumbled and nodded. "I'm hungry. Need a snack. What you doing here?" He asked, pulling some cold pizza from the firdge. His hand sparked red, the edges of the pizza turning a crisp black and it steamed as he took a bite.
KiiMeLwi watched as Deimos warmed up his pizza slice and raised an eyebrow in surprise, but said nothing about it. Instead, "Deimos, where's Jizzy? She knows you're here, right?" She knew she sounded like a silly grown-up, but couldn't help it. Ahhh this was certainly a sign of getting older. She ran her fingers through her hair. What to do...
Shavira kept grinning at Deimos. "Shavi hungry. Mama make Shavi food!" As SHE saw Deimos' pizza heat up, her eyes got wide and she 'oohed' "Waaaowww!" She pointed, to show Deimos what she was excited about. "Dei make cold hot!"
Diemos licked his fingers clean of sauce as he finished of his slice and yawned. "She's sleeping. Nothing wakes her up when she's sleeping." He said matter-of-factly, not that he'd tried this time. His mother WAS a heavy sleeper though.
He looked over to Shavira in amausement. "Yah, I can, Smart Shavi. Took practice though, I burned a few (or a lot) slices before getting it right.." He said. "I can cast fire now." He said, and yawned, not really awake enough to offer up a demonstration just yet.
"Smart Shavi" was now even more hungry than before and thus tugged on KiiMeLwi's robe even harder. "Mama? Shavi eat too?" Her stomach was making noises. It wanted food. "Shavi want...anything Mama makes. Shavi jus hungwy!"
KiiMeLwi, who had been raising an eyebrow at Deimos, wondering what she should do about him, turned back to Shavi, now reminded why they came here in the first place. "OH! I'm so sorry Shavi. How about some oatmeal? I'll put honey on it for you." She ruffled Shavi's head before turning around and looking for some oatmeal. Pulling it out, she set a pot to boil and watched the two Mishaps with the corner of her eye. I suppose I could just watch Deimos...make sure he's alright before he goes back to bed. I'm worried if Jizzy wakes up to find her child is missing...ahh... She sighed quietly to herself and scratched her head. This might turn out to be difficult.
Shavi turned her attention back to the eating Dei dei now that her food was being made. Watching him eat, she wondered over these powers Dei dei said he had. What were they...and why didn't she have any? She didn't realize she was staring at the older Mishap, but couldnt seem to help it.
Deimos cast a glance at Shavira. She was staring. He finsihed cleaning off his fingers and gave a tired yawn. He looked over at her again and smirked.
With a snap, a fireball danced in Deimos palm and he brought it close to Shavira. "Nifty, ain't it?" He asked.
Shavira's first reaction was to yelp in surprise. But when she saw how shiny, and warm and pretty it was, she brought her face closer, 'oohing' once more. "Aaah! Dei dei! So pwetty..." She reached out for the glowing ball, but her hand snapped back when she felt it get hotter as she got nearer. Making sure not to get to close, Shavira stared at it, the reflection bouncing around in her eyes. "Niff...Niffty..." She grinned up at Deimos, gazing at him in great respect.
Kii froze the second she saw the fire, and after she shook it off, she reached for Shavira, frightened for her safety. But she stopped halfway, realizing Shavi knew it was dangerous when she pulled her hand away from it and stayed far from it. KiiMeLwi didn't know what to do. Fire was fire, and it was dangerous no matter what, but...oh she didnt know!
"Be..." Her voice cracked and she coughed to clear it. "Be careful!" Meh. Her voice was much higher and quicker than she had intended. A thought occured to her. "Deimos, is that safe?"
"DOn't think so.." He said, closing hsi fist and extinguishing the fire. "But what fun would it be if it was safe?" He asked, yawning again. He wanted something sweet now.. hmmm. He turned back to the fridge, looking for some candy or something.
KiiMeLwi's eyes grew even wider than one would have thought possible. Her ears twitched furiously, and she tried desperately to calm down. THAT was a frightening thought...what could have happened...She wasn't MAD..just worried. She certainly felt like a worry-wart by now. I mean, come on...there were plenty times she almost set something on fire...
Shavira, not having a clue to what Kii was feeling, clapped for Deimos. "Dei Dei! Was coooool!" She squealed and nodded. "Dei cool." She turned to tug on Kii's robe again. "Did Mama see?! Fire." She nodded, almost forgetting she was hungry. But she didnt. "Food done?"
KiiMeLwi automatically turned back to Shavira's oatmeal. It was VERY done. She turned off the stove and poured it into a bowl, blowing on it a lot before bending down to Shavira's level. "Shavi, blow before you eat, alright? It's hot." She was still keeping an eye on Deimos. "Deimos, what are you looking for?"
"Chocolate.." He said simply. If there was one thing he had gotten from hsi mother, it was his love for chocolate. He slammed the fridge door upon finding nothing there. "Damn it." He said, starting for the pantry,s miling at Shavira's compliments as he passed.
Shavira, upon hearing of Deimos' quest for chocolate, dug into a back pocket of KiiMeLwi's robe (since Kii felt she must always be prepared, she had sewn oodles and oodles of pockets into her robe & put as much stuff as she could in them) and pulled out a candy bar. Oh, she knew her Mama's robe very, very well. Especially it's wonderful contents. She trundled back to Deimos and offered it to him, still grinning from his trick.
KiiMeLwi's hand made swift contact with her forehead upon hearing Deimos' use of language. I don't even want to know...I don't want to know...wait, what kind of mother am I? I should say something. Err..
"Ah...ahem...Deimos, er, hun. I don't think...that that language is...er..NEEDED here...er..." Gawd. She felt more than stupid. She sighed. "OH...never mind." I'm a terrible mother... Her brain was getting very annoying by now
Deimos' eyes lit up and he beamed at Shavira as she delivered the chocolate bar. "Thanks, Smart Shavi! You're the best!" He said, almsot in extacy as he unwraped the candy, rufffling up Shavira's hair as he took a large chomp out of it. Oh sweet sweet chocolate. How I love thee.
Shavira squealed. She had done something right! And Dei was proud. "yay!" She said quietly, and rose her hands above her head. She turned back to her bowl, which she had left on the floor to give Deimos his chocolate, and bent down over it, scooping a large amount of honeyed oatmeal, and blew on it softly. "Yummies." She took a careful bite and chewed. "Thankie Mama."
KiiMeLwi nodded to Shavira and turned around once again. Coffee. She needed Coffee.
Deimos finished of the chocolate bar in no time flat, smiling broadly as he licked his lisp clean. He patted his stomch, he was satisfied. "Thanks, Smart Shavi." He said again making it to the door. "Eat good! He called back with a smalll wave before he headed back to his room.
KiiMeLwi blinked once, twice, and then poured herself a cup of coffee. Well. That was...interesting, so say the least. She took a sip before turning to Shavira, who was still crouched over her bowl, which was still on the floor. Sighing heavily, Kii picked up Shavira's bowl and beckoned to her toddler. "Come on, we can eat this upstairs. We'll just bring the bowl back later. Ok hun?"
Shavi waved after Deimos, and licked her spoon, taking her Mama's robe in her free hand to follow her up the stairs, watching Deimos disappear up them.

--I'll have what he's having!- December 3rd, 2005-- Participants - Deimos, Jizzy, Rex, King, Silencer, Leyrandia and Uncle Gryff
Chluk! Sloop!
Pebbles flew and bounced around the place as Rex practiced on his defensive skills. He'd fail once or twice, resulting in several ouches from the boy, and growls from his twin.
"I really think you should stop for now Rex," came a sound from the fountain as another pebble flew towards the mishap, followed shortly later by another 'ouch!'.
Deimos climbed up the stair flying. It was much to cold outside, so this garden would have to do for now. He almsot flew into the gardens. He looked around and gaped at the sigh he saw. "Rex. You're huge!!" He said incredulously.
Jizzy, was still working up the stairs. It was so hard with cruthes.
"Okay, but just one more!" Rex braced himself for another flying pebble, when a familiar voice from behind him caught his attention. turning around, he caught sight of a long lost friend. Well, it felt like that anyway.
"Hi Dei!" The boy grinned down at Deimos, and waved for him to come over. "Yep, I've grown huge. You grew bigger too, yes!"
Thuk. Oopsie.
King let out another growl as a pebble hit him square in the muzzle, this time accompanied by a loud roar, which might have sounded like 'stop the bloody rock throwings!' if he could do human talk. The t-rex glared daggers at Silencer, narrowing his eyes at her as if to dare her to throw another one his way one more time.
"Aah, sorry king." Silencer looked away, and saw Deimos. She smiled and waved to him, before searching behind him for signs of Jizzy. "Hello! Deimos, is it? Where's your mother?"
"But I haven't gotten that big. What do you eat?! Those vege-tables things? or what?" Deimos asked in awe, moving up to the taller boy, havign to crane his neck to eve get enar to looking at his face.
Jizzy finally made it to the top of the stairs, panting. "Oh, uh.. Lo" SSHe panted out. Damned ankled, damned crutches. "How are ya, SIlencer?' She asked, wworkign her way to a bench.
Rex shuddered. Vegetables?
"No, not vegetables, though I do eat them." A pause. "Occasionally. Mother makes me take 'em."
The boy frowned as he kept looking down at Deimos, then proceeded to plop himself down on the floor so the boy was at the same level as his friend. "How ya been doing all these while?" He asked, soon as he had gotten into a comfortable sitting position.
King huffed at Silencer, then peered sharply at Deimos through the corner of his eyes. He was not going to throw pebbles, would he?
Silencer shot to her feet at the sight of Jizzy, and ran over to her. "Jizzy! Look at you!" she exclaimed, automatically moving on to help Jizzy settle onto a bench nearby.
"I gots to start eating whatever you eat.." Deimos said, shaking himself from his 'OMG-REX-IS-SO-TALL" stupor. The dino boy had always beeen larger than him, but this was just ridiculous.
"I've been alright. Been practicing my magic and my pirating." He said. Gods, even sittting down Rex was still a bit taller than Deimos.
Jizzy chuckled weakly as she was aided onto the bench, smilign at Silencer. "Yah, uh, thanks. Stairs aren't my firends as of the moment." She let out a happy sig as she sat. "So how have you been, Silencer?"
"If you please, though I gotta warn you, not all of 'em are nice" Rex scratched his head, his eyes glossing over a little as images of thing he ate, nice or not nice, floated across his mind.
Shaking himself out of it, the boy's attention was quick to pounce on Deimos' words. Magic? Pirating?
"You got magic too? What type? Is it strong? And how's the pirating?"
"You're welcome." Silencer settled onto the bench with a thankful sigh after Jizzy, arching her back and stretching out a little before relaxing into the bench. "Aaah, I've been kept busy, what with Rex's education and magic practices." Stealing a glance at the two kids, she smiled, and continued, "He's been really hard at it, that boy. Magic. You know, kids."
Silencer shook her head, chuckling a little. However, her face became more serious as she turned to Jizzy. "How about you? And what, pray tell, happened to your leg?"
Deimos grinned as the attention came to his fire. "Yah, it's strong. It's fire magic, look." He held out a palm to him and did, as he'd done many times before. He focused his enrgy onto his palma dn released his magic. A fireball sparked to life in his hand. "THe pirating's been k, still have no ship though."
"AH yes. Deimos has magic too and he never shuts up about it.." SHe said, looking over as her child was, once again, showing of his fire. "Oh and this, its no big deal. I was ice skating and the skate sorta gave in beneath me." SHe said with chuckle and she patted her belly. "Guess I need to lose a few pounds then, eh?" She said jokingly.
Rex peered at the fire in Deimos' hand in awe. "Wow, cool! You're so much more advanced than I am." The boy moved his head to look at the fireball in different angles, and waved his hand over it twice. Neat.
"Is fire the only magic you know?" He asked, looking back at Deimos.
Silencer saw the fireball in Deimos' hand too, and nodded approvingly. "He's really had much practice, I can see from that." Turning her attention back to Jizzy, she winced. "Oooch."
Looking Jizzy up and down, Silencer shook her head. "Oh no, you've got a wonderful figure!" She said, and winked at Jizzy.
Deimos closed his fistk, the fire vanishing in a poof and shrug. "I practiced. For a while I couldn't do anything at all cause of Erebus." He said in a rather non-chalant manner.
"FOr now yah, I can only do fire." He said, his tone dropping slightly. "Jabir said he'd teach em to fly, but gravy doesn't seem to like me very much."
"Yah. I have to fireproof everything to prevent it going up in flames. He veen got me fired from my job, not that I liked it, but still.." She said, sighing, and chuckling at SIlencer comment about her figure.
"If I'm ok, then it must have been some real cheap skate to break out under me like that."
"Erebus?" The boy cocked his eyebrows at the name, before grinning at Deimos. "I can almost help you there, but... can't, unfortunately. Jabir says I've a bit of an... ah... ef- affi-- nite? Affinity! with Gravity."
"Right now I can only do Earth and Time." Rex dropped his gaze to the ground, and picked up up a pebble. "I still need tons of practice. Don't seem to get anything right just yet." With that he looked up, and tossed the rock into the fountain where it went into the water with a smooth sloop. "Feh."
"Oh, you won't believe how awful some services and things are," Silencer nodded, before continuing. "At the price they charge, you'd think it'd be top quality service, but... eh."
The woman shook her head, tsk-tsk'ing.
"Yah, Erebus. You don't know bout him do ya? I didn't till a while ago. He lives inside me. He's a pain.." He said, picking up a pebble as Rex did and tossing it into the fountain as well.
"I practice loads. I burn candles, mostly, and homework. Homework burns the best." He said, with a smirk as he pictured his writing work up in smoke, again.
Jizzy nodded in agreement. "It's ridiculous really. I just wanted to have a good time, and I end up on crutches. Now that's what you call abd luck. Luckily it's just sprained. I should be back to normal soon."
Ah? So Deimos shares his body with another being too?
"Really? So we're almost the same. Me and King, you and this Erebus... thing. Guy."
King perked up as his name was mentioned, and peered around rather boredly. With a chirp-rumble the tyrannosaur let out a great big yawn, and soon soft rumbling snores could be heard coming from him.
"Homework?" Rex stretched, and leaned back on his hands. "I don't get much of 'em, so... no idea how well they burn. Andi doesn't give me much of 'em. She says kids shouldn't be given too much homework, isn't good for them."
"Well, thank goodness it's nothing serious." Silencer smiled, patting Jizzy's arm.
"Erebus is a pain though. He tries to take over my body sometimes and that kinda hurts." He said, tossing another rock into the fountain.
"I'm kinda of in trouble, so my punishment is homework. I set something one fire that I wasn't supposed to.." He said, though that person, and taht other one, had entirely deserved it..
"Yah, I couldn't stand being on these crutches for much longer. It's driving me insane." It did. Jizzy couldn;t stand feeling so weak and useless, which the crutches did a lot.
"Ouch." Okay, glad King wasn't like that. "Isn't there any way you can do to stop him? Like... put some barrier thing or..." Rex's hand slid over another pebble and he picked it up. Instead of tossing it into the fountain, the boy gripped his fingers around it and pressed. Hard.
Rex opened his hand, revealing small, crushed pieces of rock. He tilted his hand sideways and let them fall onto the ground.
"Aw. How much longer do you need to stay in crutches? Or did the doctor not say?"
"He's quiet most of the time now. Since I got the fire, but I dunno. He just sorta chimes in from time to time." He siad, picking up a blade of grass along with his rock. He tossed the rock, btu kept the blade. Turning it to ash in a spark. "I think the fire keeps him back.."
"Just a few more days, 2 or 3." She said, very pleased with this. "I'm going to go running or soemthing as soon as the bandages come off!"
"Still, you'd better be careful!" Silencer chuckled at Jizzy's enthusiasm, and leaned back into the bench with a sigh, head thrown back to look at the... er well, ceiling above. "If only the ceiling's made of glass or something, so we can see outside..."
"Any plans for Christmas, Jizzy?" she asked, head tilted slightly towards Jizzy and looking at her through the corner of her eyes.
Rex stared at the charred blade of grass with admiration, then to Deimos. Subject change, subject change.
A light bulb went off in his head just now, as something Maggie said during his appointment with her came into his mind just then. "Maggie said the HQ's gonna get an expansion, wanna go explore the place then?"
Jizzy nodded, looking up as well. "Oh Christmas, I'm not sure.. I may just give out gifts, I've been trying to think what to get everyone. What would you like for the holidays?" She asked, turnign to Silencer.
Deimos hadn't heard this news so he smiled, exited. "Heck yes. We have to see everythign there is to see, find all the best hiding palces, all the best palces to bury treasure and so on!" He said, smiling broadly. "I've got to 'splore. It's what pirates do."
"Sounds awesome. Mind if I join your crew?" Rex asked, grinning happily. If pirates much exploring, he'd want to be one too.
"Mm, I dunno..." Silencer pondered on what she would like, and, to her surprise found none. Laughing suddenly, she added, "Would you believe it, I can't think of anything! I've all I want, I think. At least for now."
Smiling, she turned to Jizzy. " How about you?"
Demos grinned at the prospect of having somoen as large as Rex on his crew and he nodded. "Course, but you gots to call me Captain Dei when we're pirating, k?" he said.
"All I'd like is to spend Christmas with firends and without being in any sort of pain, mortal danger, under a curse or on crutches. If I can have a nice peaceful Christmas, I'll be a happy girl." She said, knowing this was a bit to much to ask. Oh how the power-that-be loathed her.
"Aw.. that's nice." Silencer smiled at Jizzy. "Well, I'm sure you'll..."
Before Silencer could finish her sentence however, an avian of yellow, white and rust red plumage fluttered in and perched on her shoulder. The bird of paradise nuzzled affectionately against the girl's cheek, before nodding a greeting to Jizzy.
There you are. I've been wondering what's been taking you so long out here with Rex. And hello, who is this? The crow-sized bird asked Silencer in thought speech, preening its luxurious feathers. Hopping down onto her leg, it added, Do introduce her to me, will you?
"Uh." Silencer blinked down at the bird, suddenly at a loss for words. As it pressed on for an introduction, she shook her head, and shifted in her seat so both human and bird were facing Jizzy.
"Um. This is Jizzy," Silencer began, "Jizzy, meet Leyrandia. She's my... uh... angel. And Rex's teacher. We just call her Andi."
"Aye, Capt'n!" Rex grinned broadly at Deimos, and caught sight of Andi on the bench behind the captain. The boy quickly snapped around and turned his back towards the guardians and angel, pretending not to know of her presence.
An angel, wow. She nodded a greeting smiling. "Pleasure to meet you, Leyrandia." She said, beaming, then turning back to Silencer. "You're very lucky to have found Rex a teacher. Deimos is rather.. rowdy. I doubt many teachers could handle him."
Deimoss looked back as Rex turned. "Whats with the wierdo bird?' he asked. it was much to colorful. He suddenly wondered hyow it'd taste roasted.
Leyrandia nodded back fluffing out her flowing tail plumage. Pleasure's all mine. Presently the bird of paradise hopped onto Jizzy's shoulder, and peered around with her beady eyes for signs of her pupil.
Ah, there he is It wasn't hard, really, to spot a large, overgrown kid in the... empty, kinda place. Spreading her wings, Andi launched herself of Jizzy and glided towards the two kids near the fountain.
"I had someone else in mind, actually. Andi just volunteered to, so there she is." Silencer smiled, shrugging slightly. She turned her head towards Rex and Deimos, and chuckled. "Rex doesn't really like her, unfortunately. Said her teaching's downright boring, and her magic's too soft."
Leaning her head on her hand, she continued. "Andi's a perfectionist, so she's very particular about Rex's work."
"So Deimos is still without a teacher?" Silencer asked, peering up at Jizzy. "You're teaching him full time then?"
"She's my teacher. And a bore." Rex grumbled, then stiffened Leyrandia swooped by and perched herself on the fountain edge.
Hello, little ones!
"For now.. I'm it. I used to teach magic, but I've forggoteen most of it. I was never really good at any other subjects, so I can't help much. I almost got him a teacher once, but Dei set fire to something in the other room and he jsut sort of left while I was putting it out. Can't blame him.." She said, looking over at the kids.
Deimos looked at the small bird by the fountain and one of his eyebrow wings arched. "This? Is your teacher?" He said shocked. He should have known better, I mean, Bax was going to teach him too as soon as he decided to tell Mother, but still. He found it odd. "Is she any good at magic?" Deimos asked. This bird must have SOME strengths.
"Only healings and stuff, so far. Mom suspects she knows more, but she's definitely not showing 'em, that's for sure." Rex explained, eyeing the bird warily. "She's an angel, or so Mom says." This the boy said with a level of disbelief. I mean, what kind of an angel chirp, hop and do all things bird?
"I want Uncle Gryff to teach me, he's definitely much better," Rex continued, pouting a little. "He's so--
Just then, a huge 'earthquake' shook the entire floor(or land, if they'd looked outside), cutting Rex off in mid sentence. As soon as it started, however, the quake stopped, leaving the both mishap and guardian stiff with fright. That feeling, however, disappeared as soon as their brain registered the change that had just befallen the whole of Floor 3.
"Okay, that. Was frightful. And weird." Looking around her, Silencer's eyes widened in surprise, disbelief and probably a touch of something else. The girl simply stared at the HUGE place, speechless while Andi, who had fluttered back to perch on Silencer's head, fluffed her feathers in indifference.
King, who had been dreaming of flying t-bones and huge chunks of steak had been rudely jerked awake by the tremor, and was non too pleased with it. Taking a deep breath, he snapped open his jaws and let out a loud roar of displease and disapproval. What came back to his ears, however, caught him of guard. Instead of a loud rebound from the walls, his voice sounded... small.
''Ey, what's with the ruckus?' Came a voice in everyone's head as a quadruped figure stepped out from the stairs, ears flattened against his skull.
"Uncle Gryff!"
Deimos shook a little at the tremor, stiffening but he looked around at the changes. Not bad, not bad at all. He qrinkled his nose at Rex's words. "You should see Bax. Bax is gonne teach me. He's strong enough t0 beat me in a fight." Deimose explained. Hey eyebrow wings drooped as King roared, but he looked over at the gryphon. Now he.. He looked impressive.
Jizzy clung to the bench as everything changed, sighing as it ended with a start. "You can say that again..." She said sighing, looking over as a voice echoed in her mind.
Silencer was about to repeated the sentence again just for the fun of it, when she saw Gryffenc with the kids. She snapped up in her seat and waved towards the gryphon. "Hi! How'd you get in here?"
'Well, I thought I heard someone calling my name. When I arrived everything went chaotic, then I was thrown downstairs. Why? Aren't you happy to see me? The gryphon grinned over at Silencer, then winked at Jizzy.
Gryffenc padded towards the two mishaps. He looked Deimos over, and nodded approvingly. 'You must be Deimos? I see great potential in you, though... you'll have to learn to control your temper, or you'll never be able to harness your full potential.'
'And now, my dino child. Did you call me? I thought I heard your voice...'
"No call, but I mentioned your name. I think." Did he? But anyway, Rex beamed up at Gryffenc. It was clear that the boy adored the gryphon, and he was ever so pleased for him to be there.
'Ah. So that's why.'
Jizzy arched an eyebrow at the wink, but smilled and waved a hello all the same.
Deimos's eyebrow wings gave a short flutter as the gryphon spoke to him. "How'd you know these things?' He asked, not really convinced with this Uncle Gryff. He looked just like an oversized bird up close.
The oversized bird nodded majestically at Jizzy, before returning his attention to Deimos, frowning at the mishap's question. Ah. 'I... have my sources,' he replied a little dodgily, and shrugged. 'Oh well, 'twas really a false alarm, after all. If no one needs me, I shall be going.'
'Good bye, and don't you throw that look at me, Rex. I'm not dead, nor dying.' The gryphon spread his wings out and bowed to everyone before him. 'Farewell, my lovelies, may we meet again sometime. Have a nice day.
With that he turned and swooped down the stairs, followed by a rather disheartened Rex. As the boy's head poked 'round the corner, his shoulders drooped, followed by a sigh.
"Gone again, like always."
Back at the bench with Jizzy, Silencer shook her head, smiling. Poor boy, he's always wanting to be with Gryff, yet the gryphon was always away. Chuckling to herself, she picked Leyrandia off her head and stood, turning to Jizzy. "Well. Gryff's gone, and I think it's Rex and my turn to poof too. Sorry I can't stay any longer."
"It's alright." She said softly, smiling. "Just make sure you get to me on what you want this Christmas, k?"
Deimos stood there, eyeborw wings extended and arched. He had his spources? He had his sources?!? "Uncle Griff's silly." He said, and not in the good silly way. He had his sources, psshh.
"Same with you. Don't forget!" Silencer smiled and bowed at Jizzy, before making her way towards the boys.
"And what's this about Gryff being silly?" The guardian asked, appearing suddenly from behind Deimos.
"Dei asked how Uncle Gryff know 'bout him, and he said he's got sources."
"Pssh, silly gryphon. Going around making a fool out of himself again." Silencer laughed, shaking her head and rolling her eyes. Typical, that bird.
"But I don--" Rex started a little defensively, but was promptly cut off by his guardian.
"Well, we go." Silencer turned to Deimos and smiled pleasantly at him. "Good bye, Deimos. See you around sometime." With that the guardian nodded a goodbye and headed towards the stair.
"Feh." Rex got up and brushed dirt off him, turning to Deimos. "Bye Dei, we meet again sometimes to explore the new HQ, 'kay?" The boy grinned and bounded off after Silencer without waiting for a reply.

--A smidge of fresh air - December 10th, 2005-- Participants - Deimos, Reid, Ike, Jizzy, CHao, Rabid, Liam and a little William Cameo
Roll~~roll~~roll~roll~rollrollrollrollroooolllROLLL!
Chao's eyes followed her son as he dashed out across the grass of the newly redone Green Area, Katamari ball rolling along in front of him until he picked up enough speed and threw himself onto it, launching himself up and off as the roll reached its peak.
"Di' Mu see Reid?" he asked, now sucessfully in the air, wings fluttering as he sought for more altitude before gliding down for a clumsy landing in his Mu's lap.
"I did! Nice job getting off in time," she grinned and ruffled her son's hair. The toddler's clothing was already littered in grass stains from failed attempts at the game he'd created for himself, but he was happy and well, if a bit battered, and that was what mattered.
The toddler scuttled out of his Mu's lap before she could ruffle his hair again and ran off towards the still rolling Katamari.
Deimos could hardly contain his exitement. So many new places to see, new things to explore. He was rushing out into the green area when he spotted Reid and smilled, rushying to him. "Lo Reid!" He cried out. Maybe Reid would want to go exploring.
Jizzy was limping behind, just one crutch in use. She couldn't stand lugging around both of them. She already had half a mind to ditch this one, but as she saw Chao up ahead she decided against it. "Hey Chao." She exclaimed, making her way, slow and steady, towards her.
"Mummy! Hurry!" Ike yelled as he loped on all fours in the general direction of the maze. Everything was so new! So much bigger!
"I'm coming! Ho--ohgod," Rabid mumbled when she heard Jizzy's voice. She wasn't ready to see anyone...not yet.
No, she thought, I have to get back into the swing of things.
She clutched her opal L.T.J. and sprinted quickly after her son.
Liam picked up the pace, trying to keep in step with Rabid. He held a smutty mystery novel in one hand, laughing about the horrible inconsistencies and awful misinterpretations of spirit life. He hadn't wanted to put the book down, but was eager to get outside for once. He hadn't seen much of the HQ grounds...if he'd seen any at all...not that he could see much while reading.
"DEEEEEEI! REEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEID!"
Calling Ike insanely ecstatic would be the understatement of the millenium. He hadn't seen either of his friends in such a long time...let alone was able to play with them!
The firefly perked at the sound of his name, recognizing the tones immediately. He hopped up so he could see over the Katamari he'd begun to roll back.
"Dei! Ike!" he cheered happily as his sight confirmed the sounds and abandoned the Katamari without a second thought, flying towards his friends. He managed a a decent landing on Deimos' head, as it was about midway between where he'd been and Ike.
Shifting around he peered down into his friend's eyes and grinned, "'Lo Dei!" he pulled up, sitting firmly on the older Mishap's head and waved over to Ike.
Chao grinned and stood up, brushing the grass stains from her jeans and tank-top. Oh how she loved the warmth of the this area.
"Hey guys!" she called, waving towards them and she haeded over their way so they could meet halfway.
Deimos folded his eyebrow wings as to prevent them from beign smooshed. "Reid. Get off my head." He said as nicely as he could muster as he tried to balance the child half his size onto his not that large head. If it had been his back, alright, but head? "Lo Ike." He mumbled as he tried to pry the four arms child from his head.
Jizzy met up with Chao, and flopped down right there at the midpoint, chucking the crutch aside. She waved over at Rabid. She was sick and tired of those damn things. "Lo guys."
Ike giggled and gave Dei a quick squeeze, hoping to not pass the touching boundaries.
"Hiya! How's Dei?" he then held his arms up toward Reid, "Reid! Reid feel kay?" He vaguely remembered Reid sneezing the last time they'd seen each other...
Liam dog-eared the page of his novel, down to where he'd read, and sat down next to Jizzy. Oh, to be surrounded by attractive young women...young? Someone here was not so young...he could feel it...
"Allo, luvs."
Rabid smiled shyly and sat down, sprawled over Liam. Jizzy's crutch soon caught her eye, and she mentally slapped herself.
"Jizzy, my...silliest of friends...why are you still limping around on that thing?"
Jizzy? Liam snerked. Oh, the joys of obscene Earthien slang...
Reid laughed warmly and allowed himself to be pried off, wiggling out of the older Mishap's grip to dive down and tackle Ike, hugging him once they were firmly on the ground.
"Reid feel ver' ki!" Reid replied with a grin, he'd felt awful a while ago, and then his Mu hadn't let him run around with Shashi or anything, not that he'd felt like he could, he could barely move. But now he was happy and lacked the sniffles and just felt filled to the brim with energy, like he could run and fly forever!
But having his friends around was even better than flying solo. With a small nod at the thought his torso to lit up beneath his shirt.
"Ike n'Dei ki?"
Chao flopped down on the opposite side of Jizzy, prompty falling back onto her back against the grass, "'Lo everyone."
"I'm fine." Deimos said witha shrug, looking around. He spotted Reid's katamari in the distance and pointed it out. "What's that?" He asked. He'd never seen one before.
Jizzy looked up at Rabid, confused, the realization dawned on her ahd she slapped her forehead. "By gods, Rabid, you're right. I've been limping around for nothing. By gods I'm so dumb." She said, slapping her head repeatedly before a snerk came to her attention and she finally noticed Liam. "Oh, Lo' New guy." She said.
Ike giggled and struggled to stand up, peering at whatever Dei was pointing too.
"Ike kay...but what that?"
He'd seen something like it in a shop window a long time ago, but Mummy had screamed and pulled him away really quick...
"Jizzy, I presume? Name's Liam," he eyed Rabid nervously, fairly certain of what she was going to do, "I 'ope pain doesn't bother ye..."
Rabid took a deep breath and bent down slowly, exposing a patch of Jizzy's flesh. She bared her fangs and gave Jizzy a final look before digging said fangs deep into her friend's flesh, reaching muscle. She pulled away before the blood began to run and bit her own tongue, spitting a gob of Vampiric blood into the wound.
"Internal," she stated simply, "Harder to heal."
Liam shuddered. One never could get used to seeing that...
Wait...what was that? There was something in Jizzys blood...something...was missing! How peculiar...
Reid stood as well, looking at what the others were pointing too.
"Ah! Tha's a Ka'amari," he replied with a nod, "rolls lik'a ball but stuffs stay onit n'sa Ka'amari ge's bigger," he gestured to the blanket, patches of grass and several shirting that were already sticking to the Katamari's surface.
Chao blinked as Rabid suddenly beant down and slit open Jizzy's flesh, tilting an eyebrow at the, to her at least, bizarre turn of events. As Rabid mentioned healing the teen nodded in understanding, vampiric blood... healing properties... hadn't Rico tried to explain that to her once? Oh well... wordlessly she slid her gaze back to the sky.
Deimos grinned. 'Do birds and stuff stick to it?' He asked, sirking evily. Oh they're have roast fowl tonight.
Jizzy winced as her already tender wound was bitten, her hands ripping a few blades from the ground. She was no stranger to pain, but it never was too pleasant. As the wound sizzled slightly, healing, she tested her foot, no pain. She stood. Nothing. She did a small jumping dance. 'I'M HEALED!" She cried out doing small triamphant jig.
"Ooooh. Iss cool..." Ike mused, and then looked to Deimos, "Bah. Dei no squoosh birdies!" His brother could be so violent. It irked him sometimes. His eyes floated toward the maze...oh, how he wanted go in ther,e even if it meant getting lost...
Rabid laughed happily at Jizzy's leaping and threw herself backward before rolling off of Liam, "You're healed!"
Liam winced and rubbed the left side of his chest where his control panel was imbedded. The fall had given him a slight electric shock, therefore momentarily glitching his system out. He sat and shook his head to clear it.
"Ey, Chao? I 'aven't 'ad the change ter fix yer knife yet. I 'ope ye don't mind?"
He'd actually forgotten, this time.
Reid frowned, not liking the idea of squishing helpless birds either, "Ike righ', no squish birds. Ka'amari not big nuff n'way," he stated firmly, though his eyes followed his friend's gaze over to the maze and he tilted his head.
"Ike want'a go'in maze?"
Chao grinned happily, "yay! That's wonderful Jizzy! Want to burn the crutches?" she asked, waggling her eyebrows, though it was hard to tell if she was joking or serious.
Her gaze flicked to Liam and she smiled, "it's fine, really, take your time. I'm not exactly facing a shortage of them."
Deimos gave a dissapointed sigh. Well there went lunch, but the maze caught his attention. Looking back at his small companinon he started off towards it. "Let's go. Mazes are made to keep people from getting somewhere, so we have to figure out where the maze goes." he said, marching off.
Jizzy continued her happy jig and her eyes lit up as Chao mentioned the burning. "Oh can we really? Can we make s'more's too? Chesnut's roasting on the crutches fire.." She sung the last sentence to the popular christmas song, flopping ack down again and pounding her feet happily on the floor. Oh it felt so good to walk again.
"Yuh. Kay," Ike nodded and scampered quickly after Deimos. His brother always had some kind of adventure planned! He hoped there would be a caste on the other side with some kind of treasure...
"Right-o," Liam smiled slightly and dropped back to the ground, immediately being shocked. Again. His neck gave a spasm, and he made a mental note to not move...right in case. The idea of Chao with a horde of knives was vaguely frightening, but also fairly exciting.
"Ugh...can you imagine the smell when the rubber burns?" Rabid looked down toward the bottom of the crutch, before peering up at the arm...rest...things, "Ugh. I say we toss them in the lake and let them freeeeeeze." It was amazing, to her. She felt absolutely no sadness. Only...content. Had she finally come to grips with the whole situation? It'd been a long time...
"Ki," Reid nodded and hopped into the air, following his friends that way. What would await at the end of the maze? Curiously he veered upwards, looking out over the vast maze. It was huge! He couldn't even see what was at the end, or where the end was. Was there an end?
Giving his head a shake he dove back down into the maze and continued following his friends.
Chao tilted her head and nodded in agreement with Rabid, burning rubber was nothing that they needed in their lungs. She 'hrm'ed quietly, then snapped her fingers, "how about this? We chop off the rubber and destroy it seperately then burn the normal wood?"
Deimos led the group in until they were surrounded by tall hedges. He couldn't help but feel small among them. "Be ready guys. We dunno what couldbe waiting for us. I've heard stories of mazes with monsters guarding the treasure inside."
"Too much talking, not enough destroying." Jizzy stated blankly, picking up the crutch and striding to the lake. She lifted her knee, snapping the crutch in half upon it and chucking it as far as she could into the lake. "LIBERTY, FREEDOM, TYRANNY IS DEAD!!" She recited, one of her favorite lines from the old Shakespear play.
Ike peered around, his tail swishing slowly. It was a strange feeling, being completely surrounded by bushes. He was no longer in control of his destination. They were.
"Monsters?" his ears folded back, "Bah. Ike gnaw on their spleeeeens..."
Rabid clapped and cheered as the crutches were hurled into the lake. They'd decay...eventually.
"How've you been?" she turned to Chao with a slight smile.
Liam, feeling totally ignored, sighed heavily and propped himself up on his elbows, again beginning to read.
Reid had long since dropped to the ground, preferring it's solidity now that they were surrounded by the hedges. In the air it felt like a strong gust of wind could blow him away, but instead of harmlessly spiraling through the air well... honestly he had no desire to be thrown into the hedges. They looked as if they'd be even worse landing pads then Dei's head had proven to be.
"Monsters?" he tilted his head and then shook it, "wha'if monsters no hav' spleens?" What was a spleen anyway?
Chao laughed and cheered as the cructes were done away with though she was slightly saddened by the lack of fire. Ah well...
Shifting slightly to look at Rabid she shrugged, "eh, can't compla-well I could but it'd be silly. I've been fine, how're you doing?"
Deimos smirked at Malachi's words and actually chuckled at Reid's. "I bet monsters have spleens. Only wierdo's don't. And fi they don't, we can vburn them. Nothis is keeping us from treasure!"
Jizzy did another little happy dance before ambling back to the ground. She saw Chao and Rabid speaking, so she flopped down by Liam, in a terribly good mood. "So.. Liam was it? Where are you from?" She asked, in an attempt to get to know him. "You sound like you're from England, but that's back in Earth.." She said, slightly dreamy as she mentioned Earth. It was one of her favorite worlds, if not her favorite.
Ike giggled at Reid.
"Well, then Ike scratch eyeballs out, even if they grow b--" Deimos' statement made him stop dead in his tracks, and his voice lowered significantly, "Some peoples don't have spleens that aren't weird."
"Well, that's good," Rabid sighed happily and flopped to the ground, but she perked up at Jizzy's mention of Earth. This could go one of two ways, and neither was very good...
"Actually, luv," Liam smiled slightly and looked up from his book, "I've never really been there m'self...not that many of my memories of London 'r very pleasant. Fire 'n blood 'n hanging 'n whatnot." He turned nonchalantly back to his reading, only then beginning to wonder if what he'd said had made any sense at all.
Rabid slapped her forehead. Yeah...so he'd picked the worse of the options...
Reid had no idea what he'd to if they encountered monsters, though following Ike's lead by attacking the eyes, sounded good. Though...
"Some peoples dun have eyes either," Reid stated pensively, thinking of his Mu's books and then casting looks at both his friends, and cocking an eyebrow.
The firefly pushed two arms behind his head and threaded the third through Ike's arm as he caught up, casting his friend a concerned look.
"Jus' mean' they dun have it n'Ike'n'Reid'n'Dei nu scratch 'em, righ'?" he looked down at himself, "Reid nu hav'a tail n' Dein'Ike no hav' wings." It seemed perfectly natural to lack things.
"What's London?" Chao asked, perking slightly at the mention of a new place. She'd never heard of such a place while being on Earth and the Island had been relatively peaceful. This... London sounded like He'ancele on a bad day.
Deimos considered Rei'd words for a while before nodding. 'Right, just if they get in our way, then we attack." He said, weaving through the winding corridors, ears and eyes open for any dangers, but so far non were found.
Jizzy either didn't notice how odd what Liam said was, or she didn't care. "Old London was like that, not to pleasant. Especilly during the witch huntings, that was nasty, but it got loads better. It's a really nifty place now that there's no king anymore." She said leaning down. "I bet you'd like it Chao. Lot's of things to see."
"Right," Ike sighed and let his tail drop and drag against the ground. He peered ahead of them, though, and pointed with his free arm, "Dead end."
"I know," Liam scoffed, slightly irritated, "It's still a bloody busy city...though I'm glad they've outlawed hanging. The images only stopped...recently. I think he killed a baby..." There was that feeling again...the same strange feeling of...lacking. Ah!
"You're quite aware of your half spirit, I presume?"
Reid gave Deimos a curious look, vaguely wondering why his friend was so fixed on fighting.
Following Ike's finger he tilted his head and wandered ahead, straight up to the wall of hedge. There was no obvious way through, not like the other turns, but there were small gaps in the hedge. The real question was, did they go all the way through?
Only one way to find out.
With a flick of his wings back into their sheilds Reid knelt down and, without a word, dissapeared into one of the holes.
"Ugh, kings," the teen made a face at the very thought, having a dictator was bad enough without mixing in supposed divinity.
She glanced at Liam, quirking one eyebrow, "killed a baby? Half spirit?" the older man was offically making no sense to her, hadn't he just said he'd basicly never been to London?
Deimos looked down at the hole Reid was climbing through and his eyebrow wings drooped slightly. "Reid... I dun think I fit through there." He admitted. He was a bit lager than both of the toddlers.
Jizzy arched an eyebrow at Liam. "Half whata?" Half a spirit. I mean, there weren't any spirits flying around here were there, and certainly no half ones. Jizzy turned around, looking just in case.
Liam suddenly took on the appearence of a deer in the headlights. She didn't know?!
"Nevermind. I must be losing it," he said and turned back to his novel, blushing slightly. He'd have to bring it up another time when he wouldn't be risking another of Rabid's frequent mood swings. How strange, to not know your own being...
"Sure Dei will," Ike got down on his hands and knees and followed Reid, feeling very comfortable in the tight space. He was fairly certain that they weren't supposed to be going this way, now, but that made it no less fun.
Rabid sat up, an eyebrow raised. Liam knew something he wasn't mentioning...and what was this about killing babies? Oh well. There was always a motive behind his silence. Her eyes travelled to the maze, or moreso the 6 little feet she saw walking through it.
"How long do you think it'll take for them to call for help?"
Subject changes were always good.
"Dei will!" Reid called back from within the hedge. He was neither comfortable nor uncomfortable in the small space though he was aquiring a few stinning cuts from the hedge's branches catching at his arms and bare feet as he pushed through some hedge that was blocking his path.
But soon his head poked out into open space again and he grinned. Wiggling he turned around, stretching his wings as he called back into the hedge, "sa hole goes all t'e way! Jus' keep goin'."
Chao's gaze lingered before she shook her head and flopped back down on the grass. It would probably be useless to prod further anyway.
"Mmm... honestly? I give 'em... maybe an hour, less if Deimos decides to torch it."
Deimos grumbled and knelt down, makign his way through the small hole as best he could. He didn't like this small space, and the brambles and branches nicked his arms. As his head emerged on the other side he cloak gave a nasty yerk, having snagged onto a branch. "I'm stuck.." He said, more to himself than much else.
Jizzy didn't see any half spirits about so she just shrugged and turned back to the group. She was blissfully unaware of what she was. "Yah, I sure hope not. He has decent control over his fire, but if he gets to frustrated.. urggh.."
"I say...20 minutes."
I'm such a bloody idiot. Stupid!
Ike's ears flickered back and forth when he heard his brother's voice.
"Oh," he said slightly as he exited the tunnel and crawled back, looking into the hole, "Hold sec." He spotted the branch and shoved his arm into the shrubbery above it. He finally latched onto the annoying stick and pulled it upward and forward, snapping it off. He pulled his arm out, now covered in scratches and blood, and stood beside Reid with his little branch.
"Hrm... wanna make a betting pool out of it? Five gold or so?"
"Dei ki now?" Reid asked, after Ike's arm had reemerged with the branch, tilting his head and pondering squeezing back though and pushing the older Mishap from behind if he was still stuck.
The firefly belatedly noticed the scratches and blood on Ike's arm and winced, giving his friend a concerned look, "Ike ki?"
"I say under thirty minutes, 10 gold for it." Jizzy said smiling, looking over at the maze. "What bout you, Liam?' She asked, trying to nice and include Liam into thier fun. "How long do you think it will take until my boy burns down the maze?"
With a finall shuffle,d Dei emerged from the hole, pulling leaves from his hair. He reache dback pulling at his claock, which now had a small tear on it. 'Damn.." He said, letting the claok fall behing him. "Yeah, I'm fine, you guys k, right?"
"Ike kay," Malachi said and peered down at his arm as it healed. He tossed the branch over his shoulder and peered back into the solid walls of bush, "Hasta be an e-zerr way to do maze..."
"I don't have any gold. Only Heldae. 1 Heldae, then."
"Huh? What?" Liam looked up, still blushing slightly, "Oh...err...I'm wi' Rabid." He only had a vague idea as to what they were talking about, but agreeing with the curly-haired woman had only lead him wrongly a few times.
Reid quirked an eyebrow as the cuts immediately healed then smiled, at least Ike was okay.
"Mhm, Reid 'ki," he replied, nodding and looking around. Was there an easier way to do the maze? It didn't really look like there was....
Chao looked about and hopped off, trotting away then returning with a pair of sneakers, placing one in front of their little group and dropping ten of the golden Gaia coins into it before flopping back down on the grass.
Deimos looked around the large hedges. They were already deep inside, he couldn't see the exit. "Let's keep going." He instructed, taking a right turn into another long hallway in the maze.
Jizzy smiled and pulled out a small wallet from her pocket. The tsttered leather was empied even further as she pulled ten gold from it, dropping it into the shoe. "There." She said contently, stashing the wallet away.
"Kay," Ike said and followed closesly behind Dei. The soreness in his arm refused to disappear, and he wondered silently if it was normal.
"Alrighty, if that's the way we're gonna do it," Rabid shifted her weight and pulled out 2 large silver coins, a small glass disk embedded in teh centre of each, "Two Heldae."
Reid looked back, up to the top of the hedge again and puffed out a breath of air. There wasn't even any way to tell if they'd already been one place or not....
Suddenly struck with an idea Reid reached out and grabbed a fist full of twigs before jogging after his friends, sticking one of the twigs into the earth when they took a turn and pointing it the way they were going.
Chao blinked, "how much is one Heldae worth? Ten Gold?" she threw in twenty five gold coins all the same.
Deimso continued, nodding in approval to Reid's idea, though it took him a while to understand it. He took a left, dead end. A right, dead end. He growled. "This place is evil." He said angrily as he ran into yet another big ol dead end.
Jizzy would have bet more, if she ahd more. She still ahd to go see Rico's boss to try to gt a job. Now that she was without crutches she could do it a lot better.
"Yeah," Rabid nodded and shuddered as a chill ran up her spine.
Ike huffed in frustration. This maze was insane. He stopped abruptly and peered up at the sky, shielding his eyes with his hand. He squinted his eyes until all he could see was a small sliver of the blue..blue that abruptly went completely black.
He uncovered his eyes and peered around, finding himself completely enveloped in darkness.
"REID?! DEI?!"
There came a familiar, gutteral laugh and 2 eyes appeared before him, but blue this time.
"HELP!!!!" he shrieked as the darkness picked him up by the tail, swinging him around violently, "HELP!!!"
He curled into a ball and covered his eyes, whimpering loudly. When he uncovered his eyes, though, he found himself laying on the ground and staring at the bottom of a bush. He snivelled and wiped a tear from his eye.
Liam felt a violent electric shock and bolted up to a sitting position. His left hand twitched spasmodically and he pulled his shirt off, flipping open a white plastic cover and pressing a slew of button embedded in a control panel in the left side his chest. Something wasn't right...
Reid had been unhappily plunging one of the dwindling number of twings into yet another 'x' shape as they moved away from the last dead end when Ike fell to the ground at his side.
Dropping what was left of the twigs Reid immediately rushed over and dropped to his knees, shaking his friend gently on the shoulder, "Ike? Ike?! Was' matter?" his looked glanced up and around the area for an obvious attacker. Had a monster attacked Ike?
Chao's blinked and propped herself up as Liam suddenly sat up and ripped his shirt open, frowning in concern, "what happened?" huh, was that a control panel?
Deimos heard the commontion behind him and spuna round, fire forming in his palm already. "Ike?" He asked but it was obvious his brother wasn't ok. He leaned down by him, picking him up. "Reid. Lead us out of here." He said, knowing Reid had been marking thier turns. The maze was fun and all, but something was wrong with Ike.. Somethign wasn't right in here...
Jizzy looked over at Liam's twitch. "You o.." She trailed away as his control panel flapped open. "You okay?" SHe started again, having been a bit lost at the sight of it.
Liam cried out in pain as his wrist snapped backward violently.
"UNIT NUMBER SIXTY-SIX MALFUNCTIONING! UNIT NUMBER SIXTY-SIX MALFUNCTIONING! UNIT NUMBER SIXTY-SIX MALF--"
The young man sighed with relief as he apparently pressed the right combination and things calmed down. He wiped the sweat from is brow and struggled to put his shirt back on.
"Yeah...I'm fine."
Ike sighed and wiped his nose, blinking the tears away. It was just another Moredream.
"Ike 'kay now," he said and wriggled from Dei's arms, walking by himself.
Rabid, who had been watching the glitch with frightened interest, now turned her eyes to the maze and the boys emerging. Something wasn't right...
"Jizzy wins," she pushed her Heldae toward her friend.
Chao had hopped up in alarm as the...thing began to blar out a message about disfunction. Actually she had no idea what had been screaming it, it'd just been there, so she eyed the most identifiable object, the control panel embedded in Liam's chest with more than a hint of distrust, as if pondering bolting back far enough to evade to a possible explosion. Honestly, the only time she'd heard something like that was when something vital in one of the airships had been shot.
At that point she'd just hopped off the side and activated a parachute, but she couldn't exactly do that here and... she honestly didn't want Liam to explode either.
"You sure you're alright?"
Reid nodded and quickly led the trio back the way they came following the sticks, soon enough the exit loomed in sight, he looked sideways at his friend as Ike escaped Dei's grip, "Ike sur' Ike ki?"
Deimos eyed Ike for a moment befoe turning and heading towards the adults. "Lo.." He said, but stopped, eyes Liam. "And who are you?" He asked shiftily, he hadn;t noticed him before.
Jizzy took the money from the shoe casually, stuffing it into her pocket. She eyes Liam with worry. "Well, if you say you are okk." SHe said doubtibly, standing up, it was about time to go inside, get out of the cold.
Liam held a trembling hand over the ground, checking to see just how okay he was. He started at a particular patch of earth while he spoke.
"M' name's Liam, Deimos. Nice ter meet ye."
"I'm fine," Ike smiled reassuringly and approached Mummy, slinging tightly to Skelly.
Rabid was utterly confused by her son's statement, but tried to ignore it. He'd tell her if he wanted her to know. He had definitely been crying, though...
"Well, I guess we'd better be going soon."
"Hah!" Liam cried out suddenly and smiled. A long-stemmed flower he didn't recognize sprung from the ground, surrounded in a barely-visible light. Undead flowers. Cool.
"I'm fine...and...err..." he said and plucked the flower from the ground. He peered around, looking for a place to put it...ah!
He stood and bent over, handing the flower to Chao before blushing and scampering off toward the HQ.
Reid nodded slightly, giving Ike one last concerned look and hopped into the air, flying over and making a clinging sort of landing onto his mother's dangling arm, "Mu?"
Chao blinked at the long-stemmed flower that was suddenly in her hand and the Liam who was now scampering away.
She looked down again and manuvered Reid onto her shoulder, regaining use of both arms and placed the flower safely into the bun of her hair, the long stemp neatly sticking out the bottom while the bloom rested on top. It was less likely to be crushed up there than if it stayed in her hand.
"Pre'e," Reid commented quietly, snugging into his Mu's shoulder, only to slide back down and Chao shifted and caught him against her chest.
"Mm, it is," why in Hael's name had he scampered off so quickly? Maybe he- no, that was stupid. Whatever. She'd thank him next time she saw him.
The teen shook her head and looked down at Reid, "how was the maze?"
"Ki," was all the toddler said as he crawled back up to sit on Chao's shoulder again, watching as everyone began to head back towards the HQ.
Chao turned and waved to those who were left, "guess we'd better grab the Katamari and head back as well. See you everyone."

--Flying Lessons - December 11th, 2005-- Participants - Deimos, Lenore, Jabir, Erebus, Jizzy and Crow
Deimos was leaning against the wall near the office rather bored. He had small firebal in his grip, tossing it from hand to hand as he waited. He'd caught word Len had grown, and they were going to take classes together. He hoped she'd show soon, he was soo bored.
Jizzy was on the opposite wall, sitting on the floor. She watched Deimos carefully, only having warned him maybe 5 times not to play with fire, not that he listened... Well, ehw asn't hurting anyone.. so..
Cheerfully whistling a funeral march tune to herself, Lenore swung Sadako by her side as she and Crow made their way to Jabir's office.
As she caught sight of the office and the formidable-looking boy playing with fire outside it, she gave a shriek like an over-excited bird and ran forward, tackling Deimos, heedless of the fireball.
"Hi Captain! Check it out, I grew!"
Crow ran after Lenore, clapping a hand to her forehead as the girl tackled Deimos.
"Jeez, Len, you're gonna rupture somebody's spleen if you keep doin' that!" she chided, unable to keep the amused grin off her face. Waving weakly to Jizzy, she leaned against the wall and adjusted her crooked pilot's helmet.
"Hey, Jizzy."
The flame withered away at the sight of Lenore, but as she flew head first into him, he stumbled, falling to the ground with a thump. "Ouch!" He exclaimed, as his tail retorted to the floor. He winced, looking up, then his eyes widened swlightly. 'Woah, Len, you did grow!" He said. SHe was almost his height now, though she looked much taller from the floor. "ABout time too." He said, smiling as he stood up.
Jizzy smiled and waved at Crow. Everyone looked much taller from her sitting position, oh well. "I'm sure Dei's spleen is fine, hun. How are ya?" She said. She was rather cheerful today, despite Dei's flaming escapade.
Jabir heard the comotion outside his office door and opened to see what was going around. He caught sight of Lenore tackling Deimos to the ground
He waited until Deimos could recover from the shok before saying "I've been waiting for you for ages" his tone was playful one
Brushing herself off and polishing the smudged glass of her pendant, Lenore gave an unabashed smile at Dei and swept her hair back, making the dulled razor feathers ring slightly.
"Just for you, Dei," she said playfully, cracking her knuckles excitedly.
"Mum said somethin' about flying lessons today - and she said something about your cloak and a guy called Super-man." She glanced at Crow inquisitively before shrugging, and turning to wave at Jabir.
"Hey!"
Crow blushed slightly and rolled her eyes - she couldn't help but make the connection between Dei's cape-like attachment and Superman.
"I'm good - Lenore woke me up pretty early so that we'd be on time for class." She looked at her charge fondly, rolling her eyes.
" 'Course, five hours early is just a tad extreme."
Deimos felt pride or soemthing swell up in his chest as Lenore said it was just for him.
"I know Superman. Mother says I'm like him too.." He said witha shrug. "I think I'ma lot better than superman though." He said, looking over at Jabir, waving slightly. " 'Lo.." He said, rolling his eys at his comment.
Jizzy chuckled. "Dei was exited too. He can't wait to fly, or to learn. ALl the time's he's tried. well.. lets just say his fire comes a lot easier to him." She spotted the tall mishap there and made a grunting noise as she stood. 'Hello Jabir."
"Hello. Please come in" he moved away from the door, allowing them to enter "It's too cold to be outside and the corridor isn't big enough for flying lessons"
"I just need to do some small modifications and then we'll start"
The room started to expand and change at a rapid pace. The furniture disapeared into the walls and ground, while several poles and odd shapped plants sprounted here and there. The floor and walls were covered with a soft white substance that looked like mossed and dangly vines formed bridges and ropes between the branches When it stoped the room that once used to be Jabir's office was now a beautiful alien forest
"What do you think?"
Lenore watched Jabir change his office in child-like awe, poking one of the mossy things experimentally when everything finished.
"Looks cool!"
Deimos watched in awe as well and took one of the vines into his hand. "Do vines burn well?" He asked absentmindedly. He always did want to know that when he saw something new.
"Glad you liked it" he turned to Len
"Why don't we make a test?" he flicked his hand upwards and a thin vine rose from the ground, about 60 feet away from them And without Deimos knowlege he cast a small spell around it, not allowing it to catch fire unless he used wind magic to push the flame to it. It would be his first step to use air to aid him in his flight
"You have to hit it with a small fireball. You can't get closer and you must cast it from your hand first" he drew a line on the ground with his tail "And here's a little advice. Try pushing it with Air magic or it probably will blow out before it gets there"
"As for you Lenore, lets see how well you glide while we wait for Deimos" he pointed her one of the branches
Deimos looked over the vine in the distance. Piece of cake. He'd tossed fireballs before and they'd all hit thier target fine. He pufed out his chest impressively, fire swirling in his hand, and tossed it.
Halfway there, it plumeted..
Deimos gave a small grumble.. "Just.. have to warm up my arm.." He said, streching his arms out, forming another fireball and tossed it again.
Once again, it didn't really go past half.
Deimos growled. Why didn't it get there?!!! He seemed to have forgotten all about his air magic as he tossed another failing fireball at the distant vine.
"Air magic Deimos" he said at his increasing frustrated attempts, before turning his attention to Lenore again
"Yah.. Air magic.. right.." He said, focusing. Air magic? The concept seemed a bit foriegn to him, I mean the fire was fine. He could it's precesnce all the time, somehow, but always there. He never felt any air magic, not really. Maybe it was just a llot smaller, yes that must be it.
He focused on his door, that always helped. The magical door the held back his fire magic, and he added a small doggy door on the side, yes, that felt about right. Now if we open the doggy door..
Deimos cloak fluttered slightly, as if a small breeze had gone by. Wait breeze, he'd done it!! He opened his eyes smirking. The fireball sprung in his hand and he tossed it, focusing on the air pushing it further.
It plummeted a bit past the halfway point.
SUCCESS!!!
As she climbed up to a decent height to glide from, Lenore gave a whistle and a cheer as Deimos succeeded with the flying fireball. Hanging onto the vine she had climbed with one hand and her feet, she looked down.
"Huh. At least the ground is softer," she said to herself. Shifting her razor feathers so that there were no spaces between them, and flaring her tail, Lenore took a deep breath and pushed herself off. The plummet was exhilarating as she fell, spreading her arms wide and angling her body. She swooped up and glided unsteadily, struggling to keep her body straight as she soared.
"Uh-oh!"
Wham.
"Ow."
She toppled to the ground, rubbing her nose ruefully where she'd hit the floor. Standing up and checking to see if nothing was broken, she turned to Jabir and shrugged.
"I always get a good start, but then I start losing altitude and then... well, boom."
She sighed and rubbed her chafed nose again, frowning sullenly.
"Good, now try to hit it" he cheered on Deimos
He looked as Lenore's struggled to keep herself in the air and hit the ground "You forget that gliding isn't flying. You're supposed to lose altitude since you don't use your wings for impulse"
He kneeled over her to clean some of the white moss from her clothes. "You're trying too hard. Just focus on the landing and not on the flying ok? We can't have you crashing around when you're higher in the air"
Deimos nodded. He'd get this down pat. Ok, so.. open the doggy door, make the fireball and TOSS!
A bit further.
Ok, well maybe we can try again. The fire swirled in his hand , ready and toss. There had to be an easier way to do this.
Deimos grumbled, forming the fireball in his hand. He tossed it from one hand to the other, thinking. How could he make it go further.. hmm.. Well, what if he made the doggy door bigger, yes. That could do it. In his mind he focused on his doors, as he always did, the one for air now slightly bigger.
Ok, now lets try this again. He tossed the fireball, focusing, not as much on the fire, but on the air. He pushed it, shoving it. The fireball puttured slightly and began to fall, justa few feet from the vine.
"Oh hell no.." Deimos cursed to himself. He was so close. COme one.. He swung the door for air wide open, and wind coursed past him. The fireball spurrted and continued forht, finally catching from the botton tip of the vine before it dropped liek a rock.
"HA! THERE!"
But the vine was still intact. The fire had went out right after hitting it
"You can do better than that. Focus!"
Deimos grumbled as he glared at the vine. Why wouldn't it burn damnit. He concentrated and tried again, but the fireball didn't even make it to the vine this time. "damn.." He cursed, closing his eyes and focusing on his door, but someone was there instead.
'Hey, kid. Whacha up to?' Erebus asked, his voice filling Deimos mind.
'That's none of your business. Now go away.' Deimos throught, trying to figure out what he could do to boost his fireball's range.
'Oh, trying to hit that vine way over there? Piece of cake.' Erebus teased.
'Yah, well why don't you do it then?' Deimos snapped angryily at him. He was in no mood to play games. He formed another fireball, and tossed it, but with Erebus as a distraction, he barely made it halfway.
Erebus laughed hearily. 'I'll try sure, just give me control for a while and that vine will be toast in no time.'
'Fine!" He shouted in aggravation, then stopped as he felt an odd feeling was over him. 's**t..' He said, he tried to move his arm, but it didn't react to his thoughts. 's**t! Erebus!!!' He shouted angrily.
Deimos body ahd taken on a very calm, stance, just standing there, eyes closed through this whole conversation. Erebus chuckled in his mind. 'Not until I have some fun.' He said. Deimos had agreed to give him control. He'd dug his own little grave, for a while.. Erebus very well knew he could only keep control for a while.
Opening his eyes, a redish glow and cold edge added to them, he moved smooth, fire flaring in his hand. Erebus smirked. THis was easy. With a powerful thrust, unlike any of the movements Deimos had done before, the fireball shot out liek a rocket, air pushing it forth strongly. It hit the vine point-lank, and probably even could have gone farther.
Erebus turned to Jabir, smiring cooly, cold, glowing eyes betraying his identity. "Happy now?" He said, and even his voice different slightly from Deimos'.
Lenore nodded silently and sighed. She could barely get the hang of gliding - how the hell was she gonna learn how to fly?
Contenting herself to watch Dei for a bit, she cheered him on as he tried to burn things.
Once I get the hang of that Shadow magic stuff, who knows what we could do together? she thought, smiling a tad evilly.
She was about to cheer for Deimos again as the vine finally burned, but a painful shudder choked her into silence. She'd felt this way before - when she'd been allowed that one fateful time to touch Dei's tail. But it was worse, oh, so much worse - she felt sick with the burning pain, her breath coming out in pained gasps.
That wasn't Deimos. Not anymore.
"Captain?" she asked, her wings flaring out defensively and her razor feathers rattling threateningly.
Erebus smirked as he heard a voice ppe up ebhind him. Oh eh was going to have some fun while he could. He turned around to face her and shook his head slowly, smirking the whole time.
"I'm afriad, Deimos is rather busy right now. You'll have to settle with having me here, miss." He said smoothly, bowing slightly in front of her. "Though I am a bit more fun than he is." He said, taking calm steps towards Lenore.
'You're evil, you know that. EVIL!!!!!'
"Stop it Erebus. This is Deimos class, not yours" Jabir replied in an annoyed tone
The pain began to lessen slowly, though it was still enough to make her feel ill.
"Erebus?" she asked, toying with the name in fearful curiousity. What was he, really, to cause her such pain just by existing?
Feeling her razor feathers shift into airtight wings, her face contorted into a snarl.
"Where's Deimos?" she hissed, fighting off the desperate instinct to charge at Deimos-that-wasn't and slash the answers out of him.
Don't hurt him, you stupid pigeon! What would Mum say if you started slashing your friends to pieces? she thought frantically, her mind racing with panic behind her savage expression.
Erebus clapped his hands together in mocking glee. "Oh, so you know me. How delightful. This saves us all the time we would have wasted on introductions, Ms.. Lenore, yes?" He said, waving his hand in the air.
"Lenore, Lenore, Lenore. Such a pretty name." He smirked as she hissed a question at him, apparently unphazed by the prospect of being cut to ribbons.
"Oh he's fine. Right here, in fact. But you see, Ms. Lenore. I don't get out much.." He took another step towards Lenore and raised a hand, brushing her hair and feathers behind her ear. "And it get dreadfuly lonely having just an immature mishap to speak to. I'm sure you understand, a sophisticated young woman like yourself."
Inside his mind, Deimos was fighting for control, and failing. He'd made a deal, however quick and dumb it had beed. 'I swear if you even touch Len, you'll.. you'l... urghh!" He said, failing to be able to come up with what to do to somone who had no body.
"I SAID STOP IT!!!" Jabir made Deimos body freeze on the spot, sealing all his magic within him so he wouldn't try anything stupid. The only thing he allowed him to do was to move his head
"What in the 7 hells do you think you are doing by interrupting this class?"
Erebus didn't lose his cool as he lsot use of his body. "He was having trouble, so I came out to show him how it's done." He said smoothly, not really looking at Jabir. He was still smirking at Lenore. Oh he needed to come out more often.
"And you consider having second intentions with Lenore help? I don't think so"
"Knowing Deimos, I don't think it's amusing at all"
"But interrupting a lesson is harming him. I'm sure you agree having him untrained will be harmful for both" Jabir was going to let Erebus get away with it easily "Specially if he tryes flying from the the HQ's rooftop"
Erebus made what he could of a shrug, with the whole not-being able to move thing going. "If he was dumb enough to jump off the roof without training, then I'd certainly kick in and save his sorry a**." Erebus said, cussing like it was the most natural thing for him. "But true, I will go back to my lonely state for the lesson.. if I am allowed out after, to spend some time with Ms. Lenore." He said, smirking over at the raven.
Lenore's lip curled at the suggestive tone in Erebus' voice. She wanted her captain back, and she wanted him now.
"Let Dei come back and leave 'im alone. Maybe next time we meet, we can...spend time together," she said tightly, her tongue curdling over the words.
Erebus smirked. This was enoguh for him, atg the moment. "If the lady wishes it so.. We will meet again, Ms. Lenore.." He said, nodding his whad in a bow, and closign his eyes. He couldn't have kept control much longer anyways.
Deimos had been fighting violently to regain control, and he barely even noticed when his own head reacted to his movements. He did though and opened his eysz, the cold edge gone, the glow noone in sigh.
"Len? Len. You're ok, right?" He asked, his voice both worried for Lenore and pissed of by Erebus. He tried to raise his arm to check if she was ok, when he noticed his body didn't move.
"Damn.. I.. grrr. I swear Len.." He growled, trying to break free of whatever it was that was keeping him bound. "I'll get him.. I will."
Jabir broke his control over Deimos body as soon as he saw it was him again controling it
"I believe we should continue with this class, both of you"
Sighing with definate relief as Erebus was sent away, Lenore gave Dei a smile.
"Yeah, of course I'm okay. Your companion's a little on the....unsubtle side."
Folding her wings back and willing the feathers to stop rattling, she nodded obediently at Jabir and stood at attention, soldier-style.
"Yes, sir."
Deimos rung out his hands and arms, an odd sensation creeping over them as he was freed. He felt a bit of relief as he heard she was ok. He didn't have full consciouness of what was going on when he was locked away like that. He looked back at Jabir, nodding. Back to the lesson it was then.
'Oh what fun that was.' Erebus piped in, his voice soft, but still ever present. 'Oh what fun I had with Ms. Lenore.'
'Shut up..'
'But why, oh son of mine, I had such fun while I was out. You should have seen the look on Ms. Lenore's face. You could tell she likes me.' He lied.
Deimos bristled noticably as he walked back to the vine, looking back at Lenore. 'You're lying. Deimos accused.
'Who me, no.. I don't blame her though. I am more powerful, smarter, more skilled..' He continued on for a while.'
Deimos shrunk a bit, looking back at Lenore again. Had she really? He didn't know what had been going on to clearly. Had she.. She had all the reason to. He was just a kid, and Erebus, as he had said, was much more powerful. He sighed, turning to the vine again. "Sorry, Len.." He grumbled in a low tone as he formed a fireball in his hand.
Jabir couldn't help to fell a bit awkward for being called sir. Most of the times he'd been called a lot less respectful names
"Okay, lets see if you can mange to land right this time Lenore" he said with a grin
He turned to Deimos "I don't know if you saw how Erebus casted that last fireball, but apply more wind power this time, alright?"
This didn't help his mood at all. He growled softly. Even Jabir liked the way Erebus did things better. The fireball in his hand flared, growing in size at his anger. He looked over at the vine, and imagined it as Erebus. Yes.. Swinging open the door to his air magic he thrust his open palm at the vine, air pulesing out of his ahnd right behind it. The fireball actually whistled as it sped to the vine, catching it on fire.
Deimos smirked. All he saw was a flaming Erebus.
"Very well Deimos, very well" he applauded "You passed your first test" The vine curled back into the ground, leaving a black smudge were it once stood
"But before we try something different let me ask you something" he steped back of Deimos and briefly touched his cloak in a point where he couldn't see "Did you felt anything?"
Deimos shivered as he felt a finger brush against him. "Stop." He said, pulling away from Jabir. "That tickles.." He said, brushing at his cloak, trying to get the wierd sensation off of it.
"Good. It will make things a lot easier for your flight"
"This is your new task. You have to conjure a wind below yourself and use it to fill your cloak. But you have to keep it horizontal and wide open for at least 5 minutes, so you must know it's right just by feeling it and not looking at it"
He made a new set of vines sprout from the ground, this time just 4 feet away from them. Once it stoped growing it resembled a large watch "This will help you count the time. You can stop once it finishes a whole turn and it will restart everytime you fail"
He turned to Lenore "You better hurry. Deimos is getting ahead of you!"
Climbing up another of the vines, Lenore stopped about halfway up and prepared to launch herself off.
Here's hoping I don't break my neck, she thought cheerfully before letting go.
Remembering what Jabir had said, she didn't try to go very far - adjusting her razor feathers and tail carefully, she glided slightly unsteadily about fifteen feet away from the vine, landing a little less gracefully than she could have wished for. But, at least she didn't crash.
"How was that?"
"Very good. Do it once more but this time..." A round mushroom-like platform emerged from the ground, covered in the same white moss as the rest of the room "... land on this"
He was proud of them both, they were doing great progresses
Deimos watched Lenores excersize first., He had to learn to fly. He had to. What would Lenore think of him if he couldn't?
He willed his cloak to spread open, and it shudderened, opening slightly. He sighed, taking his hands to his cloack and streading it out. Then he closed his eyes and thought.. focused. A breeze passed, but nothing enough to lift him.
'Wrong.' Erebus piped in. 'Air magic doens't work the way fire magic does.' He said. 'You don't will it to be, it just.. is.'
Deimos grumbled angrily. Erebus was probably right, but he was pissed off at him right now. Either way he took his advice. He focused on flying, mroe than anything else. On being up in the air, isntead of how to get thre. With his eyes closed he didn't notice as he rose slowly from the ground.
When he did open his eyes, he smilled. He'd done it. "There!" He eclaimed, losing his concentrationa nd promptly fell onto his face with a loud thunk.
"Yes, sir!"
Climbing up onto the mushroom-thing and spreading her arms, Len prayed silently she wouldn't crash and break her neck.
"Here goes!"
She launched herself off gracefully and glided farther this time - stiffening her body as she began to lose altitude.
"C'mon, c'mon, just a lil' further!" she muttered wildly to herself, willing herself to stay airborne.
Landing nearly twenty-five feet away from the platform, facedown on the soft floor, she pushed herself up with a smile.
"How was that?" she asked, picking bits of the moss out of her hair.
The clock only moved for a few seconds before returning to its previews position when Deimos crashed. "Don't focus on lifting your body, just fill your cloak"
"A very nice landing, but what I really asked you was to land on the mushroom, not to fly from it" he winked
Filling his cloak. RIght. He focused again, fying, filling hs cloak. Like he would a balloon. Yes. Air siwrled up around him, his cloak catching the current and he was lifted up. Yes. This felt good. He stayed with his eyes closed for about 2 minutes, focusing.
He opened his eyes again soon, looking around. He was doing it, hew as flying. He was...
He fell.. again.
Again the clock returned to zero. "You're letting too much air in at the same time"
Deimos grumbled and brushed himself off. Right to much. He didn't know how to control the ammount of air in his cloak.
He closed his eyes again, it'd coem to him, no? Wind began to fill his cloak. Woah to much, get back get back. He lost alitidue, not hitting the floor though. More more, damnit. He throuhg, and more air came in, so he was sort of switching between up and down now, not really hovering, but he didn't fall either.
The clock kept ticking, reaching the first minute mark. "Very good Deimos, keep it up!"
Yah, easy for you to say. He kept fluctuating the air, little then more little then more. Like a beat. Yes, lieka beat. He heard the beat in his head, the guitar struming, up then down, up then down. He ahdn;t touched the floor yet.
The clock kept ticking, near the 3 minutes mark now
Still scolding herself for goofing up Jabir's instructions, Lenore watched Dei's attempts to fly in pure fascination. His way of flying was far more interesting than hers...
"Okay, I'll try it the right way this time," she said shyly to Jabir, kicking herself on the inside for misunderstanding his instructions.
Shimmying up one of the vines a good distance away from the mushroom-platform, she gave herself one last mental smack upside the head before launching herself off. The air buffeted her and made her eyes sting a little as she glided forwards and down, landing unsteadily and scrabbling for balance at the edge of the mushroom's cap.
Scuffing her feet on the cap's top, she turned to Jabir for his evaluation.
"Did I do it right this time?"
"Not bad Lenore, not bad at all. You'll still have to practice to get it right though" he winked
"Now that you've got the gliding right lets try the flying. First lets see what you can do"
Flinging her arms out as wide as possible, Len spread her razor feathers and adjusted her tail.
"Here goes..."
Flapping her arms once, twice, three times - her feet lifted off the ground a few inches, though only for a minute. Her arms grew too tired to support her weight, and she let herself land quickly.
Wiping sweat off her face, she shrugged.
"It's hard 'cause I can't stay up for too long - my arm's aren't strong enough to keep flapping so long."
"Hmm... you'll have to learn how to use air magic to support you and train your arms to become stronger. For now lets just use this" Jabir conjured a wind bellow Lenore, not strong enough to lift her but it would help her to keep airborne
"It will follow you while you're inside the room. Now try to fly to that branch over there" he pointed at a branch 20 feet from them and 10 above the floor
Hoping the winds wouldn't lift her skirt in front of Deimos (and so give Erebus a show she definately didn't want him to see), Lenore flapped again and went airborne easily. Flying was a bit harder than gliding, and it took a few minutes of hard flapping to get where she wanted to go. Soaring through the air clumsily, riding the wind's current, she landed on the branch and perched on it like a bird, laughing happily at her success as she looked down from the baugh.
"I did it! I flew!"
Deimos continued his flow, hearing the music in his head to keep the proper tempo. He looked up at Lenore's cried and smiled. "Go Len!!" He cried, the music a second nature to him, and therefore he only wavered slighly from his rythim of flight.
"Very good Lenore, very good. But you need to work out the balance and use the wind currents more. You're wasting too much energy in your flapping"
Jabir turned to Deimos and looked at the watch. Only 30 seconds left
And as we wind on down the road.. Dadan Dadan Dadadadada. Our shadow's longer than our souls. Dadan Dadan Dadadadada. There was a lady we all know.
Deimos heard the music in his head, helping him keep his rhythm. His head bopped sloightly as he went up and down in tempo to good ol' Led Zep. THis was his music, his element.
The watch made a cling when it finally counted 5 whole mintes without stoping, before melting into the mossy floor
"Very good Deimos, you've done it"
Though his flying was a bit graceful, his landing wasn't. With a cling, he beamed and let go of the wind. He landed flat on his face, but boucned back up, exited. "There! I did it!!"
"And now you're ready to face a bigger challenge. Try using your wind and cape to fly to that branch" he pointed to the one bellow Lenore's
Deimos smirked. Piece of cake. He spread open his cape and felt the wind lift him up. He urged it forward, but this was a bit harder than expected. He shuffled forward slightly, before the wind gave way and he lost altitude. He landed on his feet, grumbling. "It didn't work." He stated simply.
"Because you have to trap the wind with your cape, otherwise it won't carry you" Jabir replied "You could just lift yourself up vertically, it would be easier but a lot slower" he used a leaf to exemplify. It floated higher and higher as if it was carried by a hot air bubble "But using just the foward part of your cape is a lot trickier" the leaf suddently filled like a ship's sail and zoomed around "but it's defenatly worth the effort"
Taking a bit of a break to rest her arms, Lenore watched Deimos avidly from her perch on the branch.
"C'mon, Dei! You can make it!"
Sheesh, I sound like a dweeb - of course he can make it, he's....well, he's the captain. Captains can do stuff like this easy.
Deimos felt himself spurred forth by Lenore's cheers. Yah, he could do it. He opened his cloak once more, filling it with air. If Len though he could, he could. He smirked wide as he was lifted up, and, willed the air forward. He moved forward, slowly, but steadily.
"If this wasn't an enclosed space you'd have been tossed by now" Jabir stated, but decided not to aid him. "Let him realize the difference afterwards" he thought
Deimos kept fluttering forth, pushing himself forth in small bursts. The wind would flutter and he'd lose altitude, but he'd compensatate with a large gust under him.
It took him a while. A long while, but his clawed hands soon gripped the branch and he scambled onto it, panting slightly. "Th." Pant Pant.. 'There."
Lenore clapped and laughed at Dei's success.
"Al-RIGHT! When we go to school, we'll rule the freakin' playground in no time!" she said happily, peering down at Dei from her perch. Spreading her arms wide and launching herself off the baugh, she landed with forced grace on the ground.
"Gettin' better by the minute," she said to herself in satisfaction.

--The past haunts you.--
Deimos had been resting, his ehadphones in his ears. Acoustic guitars played in his ears, relaxing him, clering his mind. The music overcame everything. His mother's troubles, his brother's cries, Erebus' taunts. The guitar made all of that go away.
A rustle of noise came from outside Deimos's room and then wiuth a sudden flurry of anger a dagger stabbed straight through the wooden door, then it was followed by silence.Iahlon My great and dearest master, I, Iahlon, am the only true servant that you have left. I have a gift for you, please come towards the lake... so you may recieve it. With the utmost sincerity, Iahlon Deimos grumbled as he ehard a loud noise at his wall. WHo was here this late? He grumbled, standing up, leaving his player on the bed, still playing the calm guitar. He opened the door, only to find a dagger embeded into it and a note. Reading over it he shrugged. THis was not concerning him.
Erebus was laughing hard now. 'Yah, ti does concern you kid.' He laughed some more. 'Good ol Iahlon.' He said, still laughing.
This amde Deimos bloood boil. Friend of Erebus', eh? He'd give him what was comign to him and with that thoguh he stormed from the room, the player still turned on.

--Minions - December 13th, 2005-- Participants - Deimos, Erebus, Iahlon, Aphrodite, Anastay
Deimos was not pleased, not pleased at all. He held the note clasped in his hand. WHo had left this? WHo was Iahlon? And why was Erebus laughing so much in hsi mind. He growled as he paced the lakeside, looking around for anyone who came by.
Iahlon chuckled quietly from the tree was hiding in. "Master, you're form idifferent but you soul is the same." He was hunched over, the stiches on his back exposed. He seemed to be holding something small in his hand, the other cupped over whatever it was very gently.
Deimos spun around to see the voice, having to actually search a while before he spotted Iahlon in a tree. A demon, like him.. Like Erebus. "What do you want?" He growled, confused by the statement of Master.
Erebus was being of no help yet. He was still laughing, as if he found this all very amusing.
His expression twisted to sorrow. "Do you laugh at me Master Erebus..." He winced a bit at the laugh that peirced his soul. "You laugh at the only one that knows you live."
"Don't ignore me!" Deimos shouted, hsi fist clenched in ager. The nerve of him, calling him then ignoring him this.
Erebus laughs gradually faded. 'Oh my dear Iahlon. I laugh for I am joyous.' He lied, he was dead amused. 'You are my one loyal servant and you have found me at last.'
"Serveant? I.. wha?" Deimso said, confused.
Erebus spoke, in hsi mental link with the boy, a private link.'Play along.. We can have some fun tonight..'
Iahlon expression twisted again, a mock of happiness, he jumped out of the tree landing with a catlike grace. "The council is angered with your dissappearance, a few grew weary of your absense and they were the one that sent that angel after you master. I trailed him, but it was too late you were dead.. or were you not?" He seemed warped with his own madness and loneliness. "My master Erebus, I sought to bring you back.. to give you your own body seeing how you are trapped in that prison." He was crouched on the floor, comfortable. His aching back stabbed him with pain. "I was punished for your failure to live master."
Both of thier angers flared at the mention of Azrael, but Deimos was the first to speak. Play along, play along. "I am no prison." He said, Erebus feeding him lines softly through thier link. "I am his vessel, and the protecter of his soul for the time being." Deimos grumbled softly after this. 'See, happy? I said what you wanted me to!'
'Yes, I'm possitively extactic.' He said through the link ebfore returning tohis normal form of comunication with Iahlon.
'I am aware I have anered many with my dissaperance. I was forced into hiding by the angel and was killed soon after.' He lied again. Oh how fun. He just loved making up stories.
" You lie to me my master, but it's alright you've lied to me before." He said with almost a tinged of disregard, his face illuminated with joy. "Master! " He hopped. "Master! I have your present, she was to be your bride.. but I had a bit of a mishap..." the last bit was followed by a manical giggle.
Deimos stifferend. A bride? A.. mishap? He didn't like the sound of it. Not one bit. What a silly man. To be so blindly loyal to Erebus. "Present the gift.." He said as Erebus asked him to. He had a feeling of dread form in his stomach. SOemthing bad was happening.
Iahlon kept his distance away from the boy that claimed to be his master, he could read his emotions, but he decided to play along. "Everything went according to plan... until that wretch interrupted the ritual!" He growled a low hiss, his expression shifted to that of mock remorse. "Oh... I should be quiet, the little darling is sleeping.." He smiled, his eyes wide and nearly blank with madness. "My gift to you." He uncupped his hands revealing the sleeping Aphrodite, the pentactle around her neck shimmering brightly in the darkness of the dead night. "I know.. so small? ... She was originally a beautiful priestess, the spell worked wonders, at least what I did.. you see though holy in nature she cannot harm you." With his free hand he pointed towards Deimos. "You see she would've been a brillant ally and a bane to your enemies." He cupped his hand gently back over the tiny mishap. "...But... everything went so horribly wrong, though only what I did suceeded." A smile on his face. "I am sorry my master, but as you see I punish myself for my failures.. and so do the others." He turned his back halfway to show his stitches.
Deimos felt his mouth grow dry and fury raged up inside him.
'No, kid.. don't lose your cool.'
Deimos wasn't listening though, he was glaring at Iahlon, his cloak fluttering as he started towards the deom. "Let's Smalls go.." He said. How dare he even.. Urgh. If she was hurt, he'd kill the demon. Slowly and painfully.
Iahlon raised his eyes brows. "If it was not for me.. your smalls would not be alive." He said rather lovingly. "If it not for my mistake, she would not be here. She is my gift to you... Though I doubt her memories remain... so pitiful. Though like that boy before you, she is like my daughter, my creation... my mishap." he giggled quietly, stretching out the shadow of the tree beneath his feet. "...You're expression worries me, I made her for you master." Iahlon frowned bitterly, bring his cupped hands to his face, uncupping them. "Isn't she precious..?"
Erebus was fighting to have his voice heard, but Deimos had pushed him abck into the depth of his mind, where only muffled murmurs could be heard, and barely.
"She isn't yours, now give her here!" Deimos said, stepping up in front of him, and through Iahleon was several feet taller he stood straight, defiant. His hand out to recieve Aphrodite back.
He jumped away from Deimos, "You are not my master." He said coldly, sheilding aphrodite very protectivly.
The spell wore off quickly, her fighting sprirt was much too strong for a simple sleeping spell, opening her large bright yellow eyes she looked left and right, screaming once she saw the demon that held her. But... once she spoke her voice it sounded differnet far older than it should be. "Where.. Whare am I? What's going on?"
Fire flared in Deimos hand. "Give her here!!!!" He shouted, extenng the non-flam ing hand again.
Erebus was fighting for control once more. Things were not going well. 'I'll deal with him, kid.' Erebus said, soundeing very displeased.
'Get him for me, Erebus..' He said, sneering. He knew Erebus was more powerful than he. 'But give me back control the instant I want it, and let me know whats going on.' He'd already become more causitous when dealing with him.
'Deal.' He said and took over.
His eyes were glowing crimson when he reopened them. "Give me what is mine, Iahlon." He said his voice cold. If Deimos didn't learnt o control his temper he'd get them both killed, and quickly too.
"Master!" he said rather delightedly, kneeling lightly as he then extended his hands to his rightful and true master.
The tiny toddler, or at least what appeared to be, screamed again, not seeing Deimos, but his true form. "Erebus!... Why? What's going on!" She cried, then she looked over the side of Iahlon's hand, realizing how small she was. "What... happened to me..?" Looking down at her hands, black and glove like.
Erebus took Aphrodite gently into his hands, though he knew it was not Aphrodite present at the moment.
"You have done well bringing her to me, Iahlon. Though I belive more respect is to be shown to my protector. I would not be so fortunate as to be here if not for him" Erebus said, Deimos' insticive move tranferring to him as he began to stroke APhrodite's hair with his thumb.
The tiny toddler bit back the instint to scream again, oddly soothed by the stroking of her hair, and odd sensation bubbled in her stomache. ...What was it? Her bright yellow eyes stared intently up at Erebus. What was he planning?
He knelt once more, backing away, almost immeadiatly curling up into a small ball. "Forgive me!" He sobbed loudly, his voice rattling the trees and the air around him. "Forgive me!" He sobbed once more, breaking into tears in fear of being punished.
Erebus' face was cold, collected. "Under normal circumstances, I would not forgive you." He satred, still storkeing her hair, out of habit. "But you have remained loyal to me, and came in search for me, and your loyatly shall be rewarded. You are forgiven." He said, bowing his head for a monet to show his approval.
Iahlon uncovered his head. "Yes, master... I was the only one who sought you, the others are dead." He reported, still curled up on the ground. "I was the only one left alive, mere luck I guessed." he babbled quietly for a moment. "Do.. Doy ulike my gift? She was to be taller, but she's still very pretty." His smiled was weak, but his voice was sincere.
She blinked, her stare did not faltered. She would wait to question the demon befor her, since she was now obviously a prisoner.
Erebus bristled, they were all, dead? All besided Iahlon. That was not reassuring at all. "I appreciate the gift, Iahln. As I said, you have done well." He said, moving sloly and gracefull to Iahlon, placing a small hand on his forehead. "I now know I still have servanmts in this world. If I ever need you, I will call." And his voice was even the tiniest bit sincere. It never hurt to have an ally.
His smiled brightened. "Thank you master. " Tears streaked down his thin face. "You are the one I love, I will never disobey you my master." He smiled , nuzzling his forehead happily into Erebus's hand. " I will be here the moment you need me my most generous master."
The toddler sat there watching the with the utmost interest, quietly collecting her thoughts, most obviously she was no longer in her own body, or was this her body...? Looking down, she was wearing pink pajama pants and shirt with little chickies on them. Defiantly not my body, she thought. Feeling her head, Antenna? She turned her attention back to the two demons, this was truning out to be very bizarre.
Erebus didn't stir as his hand became stained with tears. "I need you now, Iahlon. I need to go, search for those who will join us, search for a way to restore my form. Are you up for the task?"
'Huh, wha? YES. I'll finally be rid of you!!!! He did a tiny jig at the though of Erebus ever beign gone. He didn;t know ti was impossible..
" I will my master, do you wish to fullful the ritual and make Anastay your bride, she is very powerful and he powers cannot harm you." He smiled, he blinked at the order. "Yes my master" He nodded a bit, backing away and falling into a shadow.
With Iahlon gone, now it was her turn to talk. So many questions flooded her mind, looking to her tiny hands, she was baffled the only words that could out of her mouth was the only question she had asked before. "What's going on?"
"I am not sure myself, Ms. Anastay, but I fear my charge does not wish me out any longer.." He said abruptly as his etyes closed.
Deimos took control again. "SMalls! Are you oke, did he hurt you?' He said in a frantic voice, looking her up and down, checking her small wings gently.
Anastay blushed a deep shade of crismon, though she didn't know why. "I.. I am fine." She smiled a bit overwhelmed by act of kindness, looking up at the boy that was known as Deimos, his name stuck out to her like a rose in the desert. " I think am at least.. Where am I?" Her voice had not changed it was still the woman, named Anastay... " I don't remember very much.." She placed her msall hand to her forehead. "And.. I'm obviously no longer myself... and it seemed Erebus is in the same situation as myself. Is he not? ... Though I think it might be good for him, at least... it seems he has a heart somewhere in the bowls of his soul." she smiled to Deimos sweetly.
Deimos bristled slightly. Thsi wasn't Smalls, but it wasn't evil either.
"He's a pest, but he can be useful sometimes." Deimos said, starting his way back to HQ. "Your name is Anastay, right? I heard it when the sissy demon was talking. You're not evil, are you? Cause if you hurt Smalls, I will have to hurt you." He said, so casually, it was actually kinda scary.
She giggled lightly, her laughed sounded like soothing windchimes. "No I'm not evil at at.. I'm actully a priestess, but it seems my touch does not harm you.. Do I make you unconfortable?" She asked quietly, her voice filled with worry.
Deimos shook his head. "I'm friends with a priest. Name's Duke. Prettyh cool, though he smells bad." He said, shrugging as his tail swung aroudn to open the HQ door. "I do want to know where Smalls is though." He said.
Another small giggle left her lips. " Hehe, some people do sometimes." She blinked her large eyes stared up at him for a moment when he asked where Aphrodite was... yes that's the one neamed Smalls. " I think .. Aphrodite is here..." She placed her hand on her chest, she closed her eyes concentrating.
'I'm okies nice lady.' said a tiny voice deep inside. ' Wut happen? '
'I do not know...' she replied soothingly. '.. but I will find out.'
'Ok, nice lady.'
"She's alright." She smiled releived, though this was odd. She contemplated for a moment, she knew what this sensation was, for she already knew the feeling of having a past life awake within. The truth was exposed for her, her happy expression turned to sadness. "...I am dead.. aren't I?" She asked quietly.
"You'd have to eb to be inside Smalls, no?" He said rather bluntly. He was never one to subtle, or to have tact. "Erebus is dead too. He hates it. He hates it even more when I remind him. DOn't ya, zombie boy?"
'I hate you..'
Figures, but it made her laugh a bit that this boy had a master demon nearly wrapped around her finger. "Then I guess I'll take my leave. " She smiled her sweet smile, closing her eyes and laying down in Deimos's hand. Opening her eyes once more, she stared up at Deimos. "Day!" She squeeked happily, hugging his thumb. "Where did da nice lady go?"
Deimos felt relief wash opver him and her nuzzled her head with his thumb. "SHe went to sleep, Smalls." He said, thats the only time Erebus was ever fully quiet, so it should wrk the same way.
"How do you feel?" He asked, a tinge of worry in his voice. He wanted to make sure Iahlon had done no harm.
"Sleepy." She flopped down onto his hand, rubbing her eyes a bit with a yawn. She pouted a bit, but it was more the 'I wanan go back to sleep' pout. "Are you okies Dei?" She looked up at him, confused by his frantic look of worry on his face. "I'm okies Dei." She hugged his thumb tightly, kissing it. "See I make you feel better."
Deimos let traces of a smile curl his lips. "Let's get you to bed then, Smalls." He said, stepping into HQ, quickly making it up to APhrodite's room and knockign softly, despite the lat hour. He didn;t have a key afterall.
And there sitting by the door was Aphrodite's Alphonse doll, looking up he jumped to his feet. 'Aphrodite! You're ok!'. the tiny doll was holding onto to what looked like to be piece of chalk. ' I was really worried about you. I followed the demon that came into the room.. but this body is so slow, by the time I got outside Deimos was on his way back.' He sounded young, but older than Deimos.
Aphrodite gasped. "Al! You can move!" she smiled peering over Deimos's hand. "Dei! Dei! Lookie Al can move."
Al blinked a bit and waved to Aphrodite. 'It's late and we need to get back to bed, I don't think the spell he put has faded yet... So I'll open the door.' He said as he with effort picked up the small piece of chalk in his plushie hands, drawing what looked to be a transmutation circle on the bottom of the door. Putting down the chalk, he clapped his small plushie ahnds and then placed them against the circle. Glowing for a moment a small door about 8 inches tall appeared at the bottom. 'Come on!'
Aphrodite blinked looking up at Deimos. "Night night Dei, Al is ok. He's a freind... " She said with a small smile as she flew out of his hand and landed lighlty on the floor next to Al, waving to Diemos the opened the tiny door and entered the room.
Deimos eyes Al curiously. SHe he trust a living doll.. He didn't think so, but.. APhrodite approved, so he couldn't complain to much.
"If anyone bothes you again, get em and I'll get them." Deimos called out after her, sighing and starting back to the room. He needed guitars.. Lots and lotrs of loud, drowning, guitars...

--Portals back Home - December 18th, 2005 --
Jizzy was almsot done drawing the runes on her wall. He held the book open before her, she needed to get this right.
"Whacha doing?" Deimos asked. His mother had been very busy lately, first bspending all that time in the athroom and now this.
"I'm going to go visit some old friends of mine, Dei.. I won't be long, but I wnt you to stay here, be careful and take care of your brother.." She said finishing off the last run and moving to Deimos. "Also, if Rabid comes by, give her that bottle on the table." She said, poitong to one fo the two large wine bottles on the table.
Deimos nodded. "Ok, I will."
SHe kisse him on the forehead. "Be good." He said, taking one of the bottles into her ahnd and pressing her palm againts a rune. A swishing portal apperead and Jizzy stepped through, and in apoof, she was gone.
Deimos gaped.. SHe needed to teach him that trick.

 --Blast from Jizzy's Past - December 18th, 2005--
A dark castle loomed over Jizzy as she made her way through the winding paths towards it. It was black against the darkening sky, the sun already set in the horizon. She clutched the wine bottle close to her, though it certainly wasn't filled with wine. When visiting vampires, it never hurt to bring them a gift.
She knocked on the heavy oak doors and they swung open on their own. Just like Jean Claude to leave the doors wide open and unlocked. She made her way in slowly, her shoes thumping slightly on the cold stone floor. The castle was entirely empty, and Jizzy wasn't surprised. The castle never came to life until it was full dark outside.
She walked through the winding corridors with ease. She knew this place. It had been her home for almost a century and she wasn't about to forget it. She found the living room, of sorts, rather quickly and took a seat on one of the plush chairs. And waited.
Fifteen minutes in, the fire roared to life and Jizzy smiled. They were waking then. She stayed in her seat, holding the bottle close to her until she felt and icy hand upon her shoulder, the nail pressing against her neck.
"Oh what a lucky day, I've been rewarded with a meal tonight.." The voice said, a smooth tone like velvet. Jizzy bristled and smiled.
"Hungry as ever, Chael. One would think you just don't eat at all." The hand vanished from her side and before she could even blink a rather angry vampire was standing in front of her, fangs bared. His green eyes were like slits as they glared at her behind dirty blonde hair.
"How do you know my name, hu.." He trailed off as he gazed further at Jizzy, and his eyes widened slightly. "Mah..Mahlah?" Jizzy nodded. "Oh.. gods. Mahlah. Where have you been? You cut your hair! You.." He trailed off again, as Jizzy shook the bottle of wine before him. "You bled out for us again!! Mahlah!!!"
It's a rather interesting experience. Being threatened by a vampire one second and bear hugged by him the next, but Jizzy accepted it all the same. She breathed again once he released her and smiled. "I missed you too, Chael. Are the others up?" She didn't even have to wait.
"What's all the racket, Chael? You could have woken the.. Oh.. we have dinner, I mean company." A brown hair vampire said, almost gliding towards them. His hair was tied up in a pony tail and a golden ring graced his ear. He had a rather, piratey look to him.
"This isn't dinner, Nonam, you idiot! It's Mahlah!!" Chael exclaimed, taking Jizzy into a one armed hug and turning her to face Nonam. She waved smiling. She hadn't expect this much fuss to be made.
Nonam had a reacted rather similar to Chael's. His eyes widened and he gaped, but he didn't add the bear hug. "Mahlah, by gods. It's really you isn't it." He moved to her slowly, examining her. His thin, pale fingers stretched out and touched Jizzy's cheek, as if to make sure she wasn't a figment of his imagination. He pulled back immediately. "It is you!! Where have you been? It's been almost 300 years and what did you do to your hair?!?"
Jizzy rolled her eyes. "I'll tell you all about it as you drink, ok. I just don't want to tell it more than once, so I'm waiting for everyone to.. Chael, leave my hair alone!" Jizzy swatted away Chael, who seemed to have been mourning over her hair.
"But it used to be so long and luscious, now its so short and.. Why did you cut it again?" Chael whined slightly, pouting mocking. Nonam rolled his eyes as he dropped down in a seat.
"?I like it short, Mahlah. It's less of a hastle that way." Nonam said, glaring at the pouting Chael. "No you don't you liar. You know you loved Mahlah's long hair!" He joked, poking at Nonam's side. Nonam grumbled and swatted at Chael like he was swatting away a fly. Chael opened his mouth to taunt Nonam some more, but he fell silent as the door creaked open, alerting them all of the entrance of a third vampire.
He was the tallest of them all, a good six feet, most likely more. He had the palest skin of them all and the darkest hair, a pitch black that framed his face in dainty curls, making him look a lot like a china doll. His eyes were oddly colored, a hazel, but not quite. They were yellow, green and brown all at once, yet none of them at all. He walked with a sort of cat-like grace and he even emitted an air of confidence. He was breathtaking, really, until of course, his breath was taken away by a flying glomp from Jizzy.
"Jean Claude!"She exclaimed as she clung to him like a leech. His face was like a show. It went from shocked, to angry, to scared, to confused, then to understanding in a time span of perhaps 3 seconds. Honestly, it was killer amusing.
"Mahlah?" He asked tentatively and Jizzy nodded into his chest, which, if he had been human, would have tickled. Jizzy clung to Jean Claude tightly. He was like an older brother to her. A tall, dark, handsome, blood-sucking older brother. Jean Claude though of Mahlah as a younger sister and embraced her readily, before pulling away to get a good look at her.
"Well you haven't aged a day, Mahlah. But your hair.. what.."
"Yah yah yah, enough about my hair!" Jizzy said, exasperated with that subject already. "Get some cups out. I've got a present for you." She said in a sing-song tone, sloshing the contents of the bottle cheerfully. She didn't have to say it twice. In a blink of an eye they were all at her side, holding wine glasses at the ready. Jizzy chuckled and uncorked the bottle, the scent of blood floating into the air. All of their fangs grew slightly as they licked their lips at the scent. Jizzy poured in some of the red liquid into each of the cups and the downed the first round immediately. She had to pour seconds before they all sat down.
"This is just as good as I remember it, Mahlah."? Jean Claude said, swishing the blood in his cup before taking a sip. "It even tastes fresh, how did you do it?"?
Jizzy chuckled halfheartedly and pulled down the collar of her shirt. A bandage was on he shoulder from where she'd made the cut to get the blood for them. "It, kinda is fresh."
Nonam was at her side in an instant, removing the bandages. His eyes narrowed at the sight of the gash, but he shook his head, as if getting rid of some dirt in his hair. He bit his wrist, allowing a few droplets of blood to fall onto Jizzy's wound before they both healed up. "Oh.. uh. Thanks, Nons." She said.
Nonam gave a small shrug, but smiled. He hadn't been called Nons in ages, in far too long. "You shouldn't hurt yourself Mahlah, one slip up and you could have bled out."
"But I didn't and I got you guys a nice meal. See, win-win!"? She said, and Nonam sighed. There was just no arguing with her. He might as well just make conversation. "So, where have you been all this time?"
"Oh, me. Loads of places. Right now I think I've settled down. It's a nice place called Gaia. Not on Earth, of course."
"Hmm, Gaia, never heard of it, can't be that great. Why don't you come back here?" Chael said, taking a long swig of blood.
"Oh, I can't. I told you. I've settled in."
"Aw, come on. Just pack your bags and come, not that hard."
"No, Chael, I mean. I have kids there."?
They all dropped their glasses, Chael and Nonam choking on the blood they had been drinking.
"Kids? You mean, you.. you.."? Nonam didn't seem to get around to saying it, when Jizzy laughed and shook her head.
"Oh, that, no. I adopted. Two boys. Deimos and Talqualyn. Dears, really, when they're not making trouble."? Jizzy said chuckling. Nonam seemed to breath, well, figuratively speaking, again and Chael wiped his brow.
"You gave us a right scare there, Mahlah, but speaking of men. Is there anyone in this, Gaia place, that's caught your fancy?"? Jean Claude asked calming, picking up the shards of glass from the floor and filling up three new glasses.
"Oh, uh no." Jizzy said, waving it off. True to his big brother status, Jean Claude could, and probably would, get rather defensive if he knew she was with someone.
"Don't lie, ma petit soeur." Jean Claude said tauntingly. "You're blood quickens when you lie."
"Can't get anything past you, Jean Claude, now can I? Fine, there is someone.. I'm seeing."? She admitted. Jean Claude smirked, Nonam stiffened and Chael was at the brim of his seat with excitement. "What is he? He must be something to have caught your eye. Lemme guess. Uh. He's a fey? No, Sidhe, I hear the sidhe have humongous..."
"No Chael, He isn't sidhe, he's..."? She was cut off by Nonam though.
"Good, the sidhe are nothing but trouble. He better be something good, like a demi-god or.."
"A sexy vampire, possibly named Chael." Chael joked, posing, receiving a glare from Nonam.
"No, guys, he isn't any of those he's..." She was cut of yet again, by Jean Claude this time.
"A demi-god? Our Mahlah could do better than a Demi-God! Even though, I've heard that they are amazing in be..:"
"GUYS!"? Jizzy shouted, all of them quieting down. "He isn't any of those. He's.." She stumbled for the words. "..mortal."
They almost dropped the glasses again. They were speechless for a moment and Jean Claude was the first to speak out, his tone worried.
"ma petit soeur, really, think this through. A mortal? I mean.. It's never good to get involved with mortals when you are.. like us, understand." He cast a shifty glance at Nonam, whose mouth was still agape with shock.
"Mortals never.. last very long, ma petit."? He continued, but Jizzy raised a hand to stop him.
"I know, Jean Claude, I know and,, honestly, I don't care. I really could care less." She said, smiling faintly. She'd expected this reaction, but she dreaded it all the same.
"You've lost your sense since you left ,Mahlah."? Nonam finally said, staring at Jizzy with cold eyes as he set his glass aside.
"I haven't lost any sense, Nons."
"Yes you have. Falling for a mortal. I haven't heard anything more ridiculous."? He started to stand, ready to leave, when Jizzy stood as well.
"It isn't ridiculous. It shouldn't matter what he is. I like being around him, and he likes being with me. Hell, he even saved my life once."
"He.. what?" Chael but in, receiving groan of reply from Jizzy.
"He saved my life. Someone cursed me, and he broke it." She said, glaring at Nonam's back.
"You'll see you've made a mistake, Mahlah. You can love him all you want, but he’s mortal, and unlike you, he will die." Nonam said, his voice grave. Jizzy bristled and flopped back into her seat. Must he put it so bluntly. She'd never really, pondered upon Rico's mortality to much, especially in comparison to her own. Jean Claude saw the troubled look on her face and rapidly swooped in for damage control.
"Well, no matter what he is, I'm sure he must be really something to have caught your eye, but still, if you ever need us to beat him up." A smile quirked on Jizzy's lips. "I know, I know. You guys will be the first to know."
"Right." Jean Claude said, easing Nonam back into the chair. "So continue, Mahlah, you were telling us about your kids."
She did so, smiling. She'd always regretted running and she was eternally grateful they hadn't asked why she had yet. But she was back for now, and they were her family again.

--In the Living Room - December 22nd, 2005-- Participants - Deimos, Kalderetta, Jizzy and Haze
Haze was somewhat pleased with the size of the establishment as it practically rivaled that of Wyndre Manor. In her arms she carried a groggy infant, and for once, the red head was glad she had been 'tasked' to carry Noi all those months ago. It certainly gave her a chance to practice carrying an infant the correct way.
Retta yawned and bleated softly, her tail dangling heavily due to the teacup attatched to it. She scanned her surroundings, wondering just what she and the red-haired woman were doing here.
"Come on, Dei.." Jizzy cried out as she entered the living room, back first. She'd been itching for a good game of cards and Deimos was about all she had. It was about time he learned to play poker anyways.
Deimos grumbled slightly as he trod in. He wondered what this poker thing was, but he didn't care to much. The only way that Jizzy had gotten him to come was that she said taht if he won, he wouldn have no more homework for teh rest of December. He coulcn't pass up a chance like taht could he.
Though his guardian had her back tot he room, Deimos didn't. He oticed the people inside and nodded a greeting. "Mother. There's people here." He said, allerting her, as she was probably to trip over someone, ebing the klutz she was.
Jizzy spun around. Oh there was! "Hello!" SHe cired out, beaming. Poker time, poker time. "You guys must be new here. I'm Jizzy!." SHe said. Indroductions first, then poker. "That's Deimos."
"Yes, quite new." Haze responded with a quirked brow at the woman's rather informal introduction. "I am Haze Wyndre, and this infant is Kalderetta Tazza Wyndre. Although it is best that she is addressed as Retta for the time being. It is a pleasure to make your acquaintance, Jizzy, Deimos."
Now that she had formally given the child a proper sobriquet and made it public, Haze was as close to being motherly as she will ever be.
Retta set her eyes at the two figures before her, not sure of what to make of the loud one and the smaller one. She clung to Haze, and despite her guardian openly displaying her displeasure at having her hair touched, the Mishap didn't really care and held tightly to the silken strands.
"Pleasure to meet you." Jizzy said, her mood lifting even higher. Poker was always more fun with more people. "Dei and I just dropped by to play a hand of poker. We'd always liek another player." SHe said with a smile as she darted around Haze to the cupboard. Rustling around a few minutes, she found it. A deck of cards and a set of poker chips. Oh happy day.
Deimos eyed the two carefully, particularly the smaller mishap. "Retta, eh.." He came a bit closer to them. He sized her up, then smirked. "You'll fit in just fine, Retta." He confirmed, his eybrow wings flapping slighly in approval. SHe seemed ok.
Haze's brows knitted together at the unfamiliar word. "Poker? What is this poker and why does one play with its hands?" she asked, unmindful if she showed her ignorance of Gaian ways.
Retta bleated in response to Deimos' scrutiny and returned the favor by staring at him intently. She cocked her head to the side at the flapping of his eyebrow wings and swished her tail towards his direction, the teacup attatched missing him by several inches. She wasn't strong enough to lift her tail for more than a few seconds.
"I thank you for not infantilizing Retta," Haze nodded, genuinely pleased that the other mishap didn't resort to the inane babblings Huni tended to speak around children.
Jizzy smiled. So she wans't from Gaia, or earth. "It's a card game. A hand of poker is like a round, or just a single game. It's an Terran game so.." SHe said with a shrug, sittign down by a table and starting to shuffle the card, albiet a bit messily.
THough Deimos didn't know what infantilizing meant, he knew what infant meant, so he assumed it was something like babying. "Just cause she's smaller doens't mean she's dumb. Smalls is just abotu this big.." He made about 3 inches with his fingers to show Aphrodite's size. "and she can alread write."
"Of course, most people make the mistake of speaking to infants as if they were incapable of coherent thought. Granted their mental faculties might not be as developed. And I'm certain that your friend's intelligence is adequate for her size and age." Haze nodded to Deimos off handedly, not really interested on whoever the child spoke of.
Retta raised one hand and attempted to mimic Deimos' gesture of showing Aphrodite's size. Though she had no idea what Haze or the other Mishap said, Retta was comfortable with their attitudes.
Haze followed after Jizzy, a little uncertain about the nature of this poker and whether she would enjoy playing it.
"I see, how does one play poker, then?" Haze asked as she sat down opposite the woman and adjusted Retta on her lap.
Deimos arched an eyebrow wing. He couldn't understand half of what this woman was saying. Less than half. He sat down, still gazing at her as if she was a crazy woman. "Uh.. yah, how do we play poker.."
Jizzy smiled and kept shuffling. "The point of poker is to get the most amount of money, or chips, possible. There are two ways to win chips. One ways is o have better cards than your opponent, and the other is to have all your opponents give up, or fold. You get two cards and 5 cards are placed in the center. Anyone can use the five cards in the center. It's bassically a game of luck, but there is some skill and trickery involved. It is perfectly alright to lie in poker." She said with a grin. "We can play a practice game first." She said, dealing out two cards to each of them.
Haze smirked at Jizzy's mention of lying being acceptable in poker. She certainly has had a lot of practice in that category. "How does one know one's cards are good?" she queried with a purse of her lips.
Retta blinked at the two cards that had been dealt to her, at least she believes it was hers. Instinctively she made a grab for them and possessively kept them close to her.
Jizzy giggled at Retta, those had been her cards, but no matter. Next hand she;d give the babe the jokers and all would be good again. "Well, it depends on the combination of cards. THe worst thing is nothing, which is all your cards don't match up. Then a pair, which is like 2 fours, or 2 sixes. Then 2 pairs, then 3 of a kind, then a straight. A straight is the numbers make a line, like a 2, a 3, a 4, a 5, and a 6. THen there is a flush, which is when all your cards are the same suit, as in all hearts, or all diamond. Then a full house, which is a pair and three of a kind. Then 4 of a kind, like all 4 Aces or 4 Kings. Then There's the straight flush, which is a straight, but all the cards are the same suit and the best hand is a Royal Flush, which is Acce, King, Queen, Jack, 10 and all of the same suit." Well thjat was a bit longwinded.
Deimos eyebrow wing arched. Ookay then, that was long.
Haze knew better than to pry the cards out of Retta's hands. The last time she attempted to take something away from the infant, the Mishap let out a bleat that nearly rendered her unconscious.
She listened intently to Jizzy's explanation, Haze intended to win whenever she played. The Wyndre bloodline disliked losing.
"Alright, I believe I understand what 'good' cards are. Would it be alright it we tried one 'hand' before getting serious?" she requested.
Retta's ears flicked every so often as she hugged the cards. Whatever these things were, they reminded her of her books, except only smaller and all pictures instead of words. Yay for pictures!
"Course we can." Jizzy said smiling, dealing herself two new cards as Retta had taken her own. "First we start off with the ante, the money we play in first." Jizzy put in a poker chip, as did Deimos. "Then I play three cards out on the table. We bet, I put one, we bet again, then the last one." Jizzy said, tossing a pair of chips in.
Deimos glanced at his cards, then the cards on the table and smirked. He liked thsi game.

--Green Faerie - December 23rd, 2005-- Participants - Deimos, Wycliff, Talqualyn, Jizzy and Tori
JIzzy sat at the side of the fountain, warm. There was a lake outside, but Jizzy couldn't stand the cold weather. SHe leaned back cheerfully, looking up at the ceiling. What a nice day.
Deimos was leaning by the fountain wall, a headphone in his ear. He bopped his head to the music, smiling at his brother on his lap.
Talqualyn was laying on Deimos lap, the other headphone in his ear. THis was pretty sounds. They came from this little thing, but there were so big and pretty. Tal smiled up at his mother and his brother rather cheerfully.
Tori shuffled slowly into the area, his ears flicking back and forth with the mixture of sounds. He had always loved the sound of running water, so he especially liked fountains. The tall man looked up toward the fountain and smiled broadly; Jizzy, a friend whom he hadn't seen in quite a while, was sitting there, enjoying the wonderful atmosphere. He shuffled quickly over to her, raising a hand in welcome. "Hey, Jizzy!"
Wycliff toddled in behind his Guardian, looking around with wide eyes. He had never seen a fountain, so naturally he wanted to go toward it, but at the same time he could see Deimos listening to music nearby. He wasn't quite sure whether he should go see Dei, but his friendly instincts took over and he made his way over to the other Mishap. The little Rhino-boy stood by Dei's legs, waiting patiently for the larger being to notice him.[
Jizzy's head percked up and she smiled broadly. "Tori!" She cried out, standing and going over to her friend, hugging him tightly. She was in a huggy mood, what could she say.
Deimos looked up and half smiled-half smirked at the sight of Wycliff, but it was welcoming all the same. "Hey Wy, take a seat. This is a really good song. Tal?"
Talqualyn looked up at WYcliff, nodding and handing the headphone back to his brother. He smiloed meekly at the larger boy.
Deimos took the earbud handing it to Wycliff. "You like Led Zep?"
Tori hugged Jizzy back happily, grinning. "How are you? It's been a while, ne?" He nodded slowly, leaning back a bit to get a good look at Jizzy.
"Ah..." Wycliff blinked a little, idly wondering what Deimos was talking about. He seemed a lot more mature than his kid-like body would otherwise show. "I don't know..." The little Rhino-boy took the earphone from Dei and snugged it into his long ear, his eyes widening as the music filled his head. "Wow..."
Jizzy did a little turn in front of Tori. "I'm great actually. Wonderful. I couldn't be better!" She was a in a chipper mood now wasn't she.
Deimos bobbed his head in approval. "Good isn't it?" He said, humming slightly. "How have ya been, Wy?" He asked idly.
Talqualyn looked up at Wycliff. He was big. He reached a hand out to poke him, just to check, but his head receded several times before he even came halfway there.
"That's so great! The last time I saw you you were sick, ne?" The tall man hugged Jizzy in mid-turn, chuckling softly. "I am so happy you are feeling well..."
"It's..." Wycliff closed his eyes for a moment, his tail wagging to the music. "Nice..." As the little Rhino-boy opened his eyes, the slight movement of Tal's hand. "Hello..." He said softly, leaning in close and smiling warmly at Tal.
"Yes, I'm all better now." She said beaming. SHe hadn't been sick in a while now. This was an accomplishment for ehr. "How have you been?"
Deimos agreed in a nod. "It is, Wy. You've got good taste."
Tal smiled meekly at WYcliff, waving shyly.
Jizzy then remebered it. "Dei! Dei! GO get the thing for Wy!" SHe cried.
Deimos nodded, remembering as well. He streched, pulled out his headphone and lifted up Tal, laying him by Wyclif. "Take care of Tal, Wy. I'll eb right back." He said, entrusting his younger brother to his first mate.
"Oh good..." Tori looked around the area, the smile still on his face. "I've been pretty good...Azumi and I were planning something, but I don't know about that...Is Deimos doing well?"
"Ah, thanks..." Wycliff smiled a little, looking up at Deimos. "You seem nicer..." He blinked a little as Tal was laid by him. "Oh, um...okay..."
"Much better. Erebus is being less of a p***k, though he has taken to the habit of setting his homework on fire." SHe said, but shrugged. "He's being relatively good."
Talqualyn looked up at Wycliff. "Wiii.. Wiii.." He tried to imitate his older brother's sounds. "Wiiii."
Deimos returned in no time flat, holding something cupped in his hands. He sat down again by Wycliff smiling. "We went shopping and I got this for Chistmas." He said, opening his hands. A green pixie flew out from his hands, giggling and hovering around Wycliff's head.
"Ohh, that's always good, except for the homework thing..." Tori nodded a little, licking his lips.
"Ahhh...Wycliff, Wy..." Wycliff said, his smile broadening. "That's great, Tal..." Before he could continue talking, the little faerie flew up in front of his eyes and poked him in the nose. "Ah! ...Hello..." Wycliff blinked several times, reaching up to provide a little seat for the girl. "Wow..."
"Yes, but a little bit at time, no?" She said with a smile, starting over back to the fountain, leading Tori there as well. "And Wycliff, does he do homeowrk, or not?" SHe asked absentmindedly.
"It's your Chistmas gift from me. DO ya like it?' He said, popping in a headphoen again and patting Tal on the head.
Tal smiled as he was smiled at, gaining a bit of confidence. 'Wi.." His eyebrow furred as he concentrated. 'Wi... WY!!!"
"Mhm...Oh, well..." Tori frowned a bit, shaking his head. "Ah, well...I haven't heard much about the school stuff...Do you know much about it?"
"Wow, I..." Wycliff nodded as the faerie giggled at him some more. "I love it...Thanks, Dei..." The little Rhino-boy reached into the little pack he had been wearing and pulled out a few items. One was a small keychain, and another a little lolipop in the shape of a happy bunny. He handed both items to Dei, smiling a little. "Like them?"
"Ahh, yeah, Tal, my name is Wy..." Wycliff smiled, nodding. "Good Job!"
"I've taugh Dei myself so far. I'm not the best teacher though." She admitted sheepishly. "I try."
Deimos took the gifts gratefully, eyeing them before placing them in his pocket. "They're great. They'll go in my treasure chest." He exclaimed cheerfully.
Talqualyn clapped. He'd gotten it right. "WY WY! DAY!" He said, pointong to each of them. "Ta!!" He said pointing to himself.
"Ah, I bet you are great!" Tori said, smiling broadly. "I wish I could do that, but I just don't know enough..."
"Ahh..." Wycliff smirked a little. "I thought you would like to bite into the bunny, heh..."
"That's so wonderful, Tal, you really do well..." Wycliff nodded, wagging his tail a little.
"The only subject I'm decent at is History. I mean." SHe chuckled, entirely forgetting that Tori didn't know her real age. "I've lived most of it."
Deimos shrugged. "Later. I just had lunch, I'm stuffed." He said, patting his stomach cheerfuly. "Mother made mac and cheese. She let me help, you ever had it?" He asked.
Tal was very pleased with himself. He smiled up at Wyclif, then at Deimos. "Day! Brrrrrrrrrr" He hsaid, trying to form the word Bro, but he couldn't quite vocalize it.
"Ahh, yes..." Tori wiggled his nose, smiling softly. "I am teaching Wy to speak and read, but he doesn't do homework for that...At least, not yet..."
"Mhm..." Wycliff nodded slowly, a slight smile on his face. "Tori is It...Italian..." He sounded the word out slowly, perking up when he finally got it. "So he makes a lot of pasta..."
Wycliff blinked at Tal, wondering what he was trying to say. "Are you cold, Tal?"
"Good. Deimos can read, when he wants too. He's rather stubborn. Ok, He's very stubborn." SHe said sheepishly. "He ahd good intentions though, I think.. I hope.."
"We should have a dinner or something. Mother makes this cookies, and Tori can make the pasta. It'll be good, no?" He said. This whole Christmas stuff had him a dreadfully good mood.
Tal shook his head. He wasn't cold. "Day! Brrrrrr.. Brrrr BRO!!" He cried out.
"Heh, I hope so, too..." Tori smirked softly, glancing over at Dei. "I am sure he does..."
"Maybe..." Wycliff nodded slowly, frowning a little. He wasn't sure how he felt about Dei yet, so was taking things a little slow.
"Ohh, okay..." Wycliff giggled a little, looking up at Dei. "I think he's talking about you..."
"He takes care of Tal from time to time as well. When I can't.." A flush crept into Jizzy's cheeks. "I'm terribly arachnaphobic, so you imagine how hard it can be.."
"Possibly." He said smiling down at his brother and ruffling up his white hair. "Mother can't take care of Tal sometimes. SHe gtes sick a lot, so I do it. Do you have a brother, Wy?
Tal burbled happily at the hair ruffle, his eyes darting around. He spotted it a small distance away and reached out, grabbing his doll. He held it up for WYcliff to see. 'BABA!"
"Oh, it's fine..." Tori smiled softly, leaning over to hug Jizzy. "You do the best you can, ne?"
"Tori takes me out to his cabin sometimes...I have lots of siblings there..." Wycliff nodded, smiling up at Dei. "None here, though...Copey is the closest, he's my friend..."
"Ahh..." Wycliff blinked several times, smirking softly. "That's nice...is it yours?"
The hug made Jizzy feel a lot better. SHe grinned softly. "Yah, I try." SHe said, looking up and hugging Tori back. He was just comforting, she couldn't place why, but he was.
"Copey, eh? WHat's he like?" Deimos asked curiously. He knew quite well what his own brother was like, but he wanted to know if there were all like that.
Tal burbled happily and pulled Baba to him once more. "Baba.. mmmmmm..mm.." He gave up trying to say the word mine.
"And you do a wonderful job!" Tori said, nodding happily. "You are one of the most amazing people I have ever met..."
"Copey is my friend!" Wycliff said, giggling softly. "He's poofy and white..."

 --Christmas Visit - December 23rd, 2005 --
Talqualyn scuttled around the house, stumbling, falling, playing with strands of tinsel that were fallen from the cieling. THis was dreadful fun. He giggled as he fell, his tiny legs wrapped up a bit of tinsel, but he didn't mind. This was fun!
Deimos was watching his brother, tapping a pencil onto the table with the beat of the music in his ears. He chuckled as he fell. Tal was amusing to say the least. He was very entertained until a knock at the door jarred him back. He looked over at the clock. It was already 8 o' clock. WHo would be visiting this late?
He streched slightly, standing up and striding over to the door, swinging it open.
A tall pale man stood in the doorway. His precesnce imposing, his hazel eyes boring into Deimos', and a sly grin seen behind stray black curls.
"You must be Deimos.. I am.."
SLAM!!
Deimos' eyes darted about as he locked the door closed. WHo the hell was that? He certainly didn't knwo him, but he knew about him. He knew his name. THis couldn't be good. He strode over quickly to his brother, picking him up.
"Mother!!" He called out, depositing Tal in his room. "You stay here Tal, ok." He instructed and dashed off again. The manw as pounding on the door loudluy now.
"What is it Deimos?" Jizzy said blearily, rubbing her eyes as she strode towards the door, starting to unlock it.
Deimos dashed in front of her, coming between her and the door. "There's a creep out there."
THis caught Jizzy's attention, bringing her wide awake. "Alright Dei.. Step back.." She murmured, pushing him aside and slowly unlocking the door. It clicked and she began to creak the door open, looking out to see who it was.
She shrieched and lauched herself onto the man. "JEAN CLAUDE!" She exclaimed.
Deimos arched an eyebrow wing. What.. the.. hell..
"Yes, ma petit." He exclaimed, hugging her.
"Come in, Jean Claude!" She said, allowing him in. He couldn't come if he wasn't invited in.
Deimos watched him stride in, gaping. "You know him?"
"Of course, Dei. This is my friend Jean Claude, the one I went to visit."
"Yes ma petit. I was wonderig if I could stay for the holidays."
"OF COURSE!
CHristmas just got a bit more interesting...
