Whitman lead them around the ring and out the performer entrance. That was the fastest way back to his trailer. He noted Kari's silence, but chose not to comment. When females were silent, there was usually a good reason. He let go of her and started up the few steps. "I'll only be a few minutes....promise."

Kari followed along, remaining quiet as she silently debated the wisdom of her decision to invite him over. It was just for dinner... and Evie would be there. It was a family sort of thing.
Her heart nearly stopped at that thought. Family? Whitman?! It was both laughable and intriguing at the same time, and since she figured her facial expression resembled that of a deer caught in the glare of headlights, she opted not to go down that particular avenue of thought and simply shoved all deep thinking aside. "All right. We'll be waiting," she said, smiling up at him and then stroking Evie's hair.
Evie, for her part, was playing with the loose bun at the nape of Kari's neck, poking the all-too-loose mass of hair and waiting for it to fall apart.

Whitman took only a few moments as promised. It was mostly a matter of throwing on clothes he'd worn earlier. The only thing that slowed him down was a few companions in his troupe being in the trailer as well and their teasing.
So he stepped out, cheeks a little red and closed the door behind himself with an annoyed snort. "Jerks."

After having successfully distracted Evie from her hair, Kari was saved by Whitman's reappearance and Evie's renewed giggling and waving at him. "That wasn't lo- what jerks?" she asked, unable to contain her curiosity and a bit of annoyance to whomever had annoyed him. The flush in his cheeks, though, was most amusing. "They embarrassed you?"
Evie simply giggled. "Hihihi!" she declared, waving at Whitman again. "Foodtime, yeah!"

"They enjoy doing it too...don't worry about it Kari; I'll talk to them later." Whitman plunked down on the steps and pulled on his shoes before getting up again and returning to the ladies' side. He put an arm around Kari's waist. "Lead the way, Beautiful."

Kari snorted. "If they're embarrassing you, it's either because they're good friends to you or they're jealous." Jealous of what, exactly, she was unsure, but jealousy was often a good reason for humiliating another person. She held onto Evie's giggling, squirming weight, allowing him to put his arm around her waist. "Me... lead? Age before beauty? Very well." She padded toward the parking lot, digging in her purse for her car keys.

"I dunno." Whitman shook his head. "Your not old, Beautiful." He walked along beside her casually and noticed her digging out keys. So, it was a car ride to her home then; that'd be different usually a car ride meant lots of heavy lifting to packup tents beforehand.

Kari gave a chuckle. "Older than you think." She hovered the keys up above her purse as she zipped the bag closed and then took hold of the keys with her newly-freed hand. She saw his look toward the keys. "Oh... I drove. It's a bit of a way home."
Sensing that food and home were on the approach, Evie bounced happily on her mother's hip. "Yaaaaaaaycaaaaaar! C'n I drrrrwrrivvve?!"
Kari snorted as they approached the parking lot, glancing about for the car that she and Nieva shared. "Not likely, Evie. Sorry," she chuckled.
