"We could always cut the bottom pictures off." Harper suggested with a shrug, grinning at her. "Lectures wouldn't be any fun, I don't think!" People rarely lectured him. Well, not about anything coherent anyway.
"Eliot let me go on my own right away.. he gave me a cellphone though, he said Sunny was gonna pick me up after work. I don't think my Uncle knows I'm alone.." He grinned, as though him being sneeky was quite enjoyable.

"Really?" Manuela asked, taking a moment to keep her ice cream from dripping, "But won't he get mad if he finds out?" Mama Estelle would ground her for years if she evere tricked her like that, but Harper was just laughing it off like it was nothing. Cutting the bottom few off was a good idea, but then again, she liked the strip the way it was.

"He might.." Harper shrugged passively. "He never does anything but whine and yell when he's mad, though, so it's not a big deal. It's sorta funny, really.. he get's as red as his hair and can't look at you straight." He giggled again.
"It's only really bad when it makes momma mad too.." He trailed off, thinking about the earrings he had pawned earlier. He suddenly looked a little nervous, "Would you be mad if someone stole your earrings for money?"

Manny looked like she had to think about this for a minute. "Well," she started, "It depends on what earrings. If I really liked them then yeah I'd be mad. But if I didn't then it'd be ok if the person had a good reason for taking them." Her lines for right and wrong were slightly blurred, but they worked for her. Stealing was just one of those grey areas.

"Uhh.. what if you wore them every day and they were really 'spensive?" Harper asked, looking quite nervous by then and itching one of his ears. "But what if you only did it cause Eliot told you too!?"

Hmm, that made it more difficult. "Well, I guess if someone told you too then that one's the person that should get in trouble," she reasoned, thoughtfully making dents in her ice cream, "Do they know you did it? Are you going to tell them?"

Harper coulden't help but laugh. "Oh, she'll know.." Harper said thoughtfully, figuring this is about the time his mother usually woke up for the day and would be noticing as she put her makeup her jewelry had been raided. Again.
Speak of the devil, truly! It wasn't hard for her to track down a white and yellow haired ten year old with three facial peircings, and Ashley knew he was in the general area, so when she bursted quite furiously through the doors of the ice cream joint' and almost instantly spotted her son Harper knew what was coming.
"IEE!" Harper squeaked, ducking under the table.
