well, the marines in this setting are multi-purpose. they can fly starfighters but aren't really trained in dogfighting, they're more for taking out or crippling big ships, they are also the main ground force, and train with boarding, firefights, etc. the pilots are trained in dogfighting and hone their skills in it continuously, so overall, they have more skill than a marine would, but only in one area, and marines aren't as skilled, but they train in many different things.... i'm rambling now.. But you are the captain, they wouldn't promote a marine to the captaincy of the most powerful Teran vessel. By all rights, you should be a bridge crew or bridge pilot, as the job of the captain is do direct the overall movement of the ship and decide strategies for the battle.

ooh, you're lucky like me sheer.. except i'll be on constantly as soon as i get home from school a lot of the time.. plus taking only easy classes means less homework and whatnot. but that's fine if you can only do one a day... now we can go to the Drathonian ship and have a shoot-em-up biggrin
