What? Still shaking, Amari took in her surroundings. How had she gotten here? ...She looked around cautiously before continuing her way towards the tennis courts.
Maybe she needed to avoid whatever they'd put in that cheese burger.

A few days later, Maia decided to ask Michael out. Well. She didn't think there was any nicer term to describe willing possession in order to show Michael the late summer flowers.
She knocked on his door. "Michael, come see the roses in the park with me."

Michael had been surprised at first, as he always was when someone showed him true kindness, but did agree. Once you got a taste of the outside you craved it more. The orchard was only so big.
He had possessed her happily and sat in the proverbial back seat, willing to experience whatever she wanted to show him.

Maia called a cab and waited outside. "Can you taste anything, while you're possessing someone?" She asked. "I thought after the park, we could get something to eat. Maybe icecream or something." It was nice to spend time with a friend. Even if she did feel like she looked a bit crazy, talking to herself.

"Yes," he said. He hadn't eaten anything in a long time. He hadn't really tried, either. He wasn't one to enjoy being caught doing something silly.

Oh, good. "Toby's a great cook, one day you should come for dinner," Maia suggested."Do you have a favorite?" She asked. If he'd had a favorite food, maybe they could look up how to make it...
The cab arrived not long after. Maia gave him the name of the park and.climbed in.

Michael nodded, a sensation Maia would feel as if she was doing it herself. He wasn't sure he would feel comfortable eating with Maia's family. Going out with a friend was one thing, but coming to dinner was another. He worked with Toby and Dari and while he definitely did like them, he wasn't sure it was appropriate to come to family dinner.
"I've forgotten," he said and looked out the window to watch the town pass. He remembered food, but like pain in life, he just couldn't remember the actual sensation. Pain, however, stuck with a spirit. It was an unfortunate trade-off.

That was... Unfortunate. But they could take him out to a few places, maybe he'd find a new favorite. They stopped at the park and Maia climbed out of the cab.
"I wanted to take you see roses before the summer ends," she said. "They're beautiful."

Michael smiled and nodded. Had he been able to hug Maia from within, he might have. Instead she would feel a thrumming of warmth and gratitude radiating in her chest.
Michael took over more fully then, a constant presence that could smell and feel as well as move, but the control remained Maia's.

Michael was happy, good. Maia had worried about him after the last mission they'd gone on together. Maia smiled and walked down the path, pausing when they reached the first of the roses.
"Did you want flowers for your room?" Maia asked.

"Sure," Michael responded with a little nod. When he spoke in Maia's voice, it was a slightly deeper register, what with him being a man and all. It didn't feel right to speak in high candor. He figured she must not mind much, though, if she was willing to walk around the park looking like she was talking to herself anyway.
"It might brighten up the place."

"It might," Maia smiled. It might give Michael something to do, something to care for. "What types would you like? We could go shopping for some." Something already blooming maybe? Or would he like to grow flowers from seeds? "What are your favorite colors?"

"All of them," Michael replied. He was sure he'd had a favorite way back when, but his living years had all sort of blurred together in the beginning there. It seemed silly, to like one over the other, when they were all so beautiful in the end.

All the colors? ...well maybe she could find something with multiple colors in one pot. Something bright and cheery. "I think we can find you the perfect flowers," she said. "Maybe after lunch we can go to the store."

Oh, he was getting lunch out of this too? It was weird to even feel a stomach again. It was every time. Of course when it was a more violent possession you barely had time to think of such things.
"Can we see those?" he asked, pointing to a particular flowering bush. He could have forced her to walk there but figured that was upsetting no matter how much you trusted the resident spirit.
