Nortin's ftw, but uses a lot of CPU memory. Uninstall it if it gives you lags.

Black and icy blue = my fav Vista is ftl for people who don't know how to use it. 3nodding And i suspect that your somekind of computer genius? neutral Apparently the most "expensive" version of vista has less of the problems. I found the requirements annoying and how when i put in the installation CD so i can delete vista and install XP the ******** thing spat it out. Basically telling me: "Ah! Your ******** now!" It was also annoying how s**t stopped working on vista. I'm sure vista will get better though. When xp came out it wasn't all that and a bag of chips either. Through updates and stuff it got better especially when service pack 2 came out. So i wouldn't also start using someones "new" laptop with vista and the piece of s**t just hangs for no reason. I have vista right next to me right now. Thank god i didn't install it and just kept xp. Computers i mentioned before are test computers in my house. In the back room. Where my little quiet buddy likes to watch. Do you want an OS thats like Vista but is completely superior? Ubuntu > Vista. Its Linux engine based though.

My stepmom used to work with the Geek Squad at Best Buy. She had to deal with Vista a LOT.
According to her, Vista has a lot of problems....expecially Vista Basic. Whats wrong with it is that it gives you a ton of crap you don't even need. But she said that Vista is allright, if you know what you're doing with it.
XP is easier to understand, and I probably would pick it over Vista anyday. But like you said, Im sure it'll get better through time.

But like you said, Im sure it'll get better through time. One thing i liked about vista was like, my dad installed something, i can't remember what it was and windows told him that he seems to be missing something and then asked him if he wants to download it: Yes/No. So you don't have to go hunting it down yourself or call for costumer support and have to maybe deal with some a*****e or some recording. I have Ubuntu next to me right now too. And whats good about that is its better then Vista for the time being and its ******** free.
