Seamus would, of course, come to meet Maia as soon as she entered the research department for some tasty food. He expected it out of her every visit and obviously searched for food when she had none on her.
Dari, meanwhile, was taking lunch in the cafeteria; not with cafeteria food, mind, but things he had brought from home. He was sitting alone, reading something on a tablet.

"That's all I have, kitty. I'll try to bring you something from the cafeteria, alright?" Maia stroked Seamus' ears. "You're headed there, aren't you?" She asked, glancing at Amari. "Seamus will be your best friend If you bring him some kind of treat." She stood and led Amari to the cafeteria.
Amari followed, hesitantly at first, but Maia seemed friendly enough. "Do you know if they have a menu?" She asked.
"I think they'll make whatever," Maia said, and caught sight of Dari. "Hey, come sit with us."

Dari glanced at the chair in front of him and followed the ripples of the fourth dimension to Maia. He smiled and waved.
Had he been the average human, he might have wondered who she was or if he'd ever seen her before, but of course he hadn't. He'd remember! He put his tablet down and stood to greet the women, offering the new one his hand.
"Hello."

Amari accepted Dari's hand. "Hi, I'm Amari," she smiled at him. Maia sat across from Dari and invited Amari to sit with a gesture.
"I met her in the hall," Maia said, and turned to Amari. "Are you an intern then, for Lori? He's a great teacher."

"Dari." He waited for the women to sit to take his seat, and put his tablet in sleep mode.
"Ohh. I bet you're the new Research intern." They didn't get many interns considering the secretive nature of the Bureau, and word traveled fast. He'd heard she was going to be an entity. he looked to Maia, arched a brow, and grinned.
"You've clearly never seen Lori with an intern," he said, and then turned back to Amari, "Has he scared you away yet?"

"Yeah, today's my first day," Amari admitted. She paused. She hadn't wanted to appear rude, but now that it was brought up... "Is he like that with everyone then? I got the feeling he just doesn't like me. He told me I probably ought to switch departments sixty seconds after meeting me."
"Is he harder on them?" Maia asked, surprised.

" 'Hard' is an understatement," Dari said, still grinning. "You must have not talked to anyone else in the department before going to him? Or else you're being hazed. Every single one of them has gone through the same thing, I promise you."

"I talked to a few, they all seem pretty friendly..." Amari did feel better, knowing she wasn't being singled out for some unknown failure. "It's good to know I'm not the only one. I thought I was annoying him."

"You probably were. Every intern does," Dari admitted a little shamefacedly. "He's really just a big teddy bear, though, I swear. He's harmless."

Amari found that a little hard to believe. "Well. I'll try not to annoy him. I've wanted to work here since I was a kid, I don't want to screw this up." She looked to the lunch line. "I'll wait," she decided.

"Well. Avoid making assumptions and you should be fine," Dari said with a nod, "He might still harp on you, but it's all old habit. Research has a pretty quick turnover."
Dari looked down at the remaining half of his sandwich and his trail mix, and his bag of mini marshmallows.
"Do you want some?" he asked, gesturing to the food, "I don't have any germs. Literally. My body is inhospitable to parasites and viruses."

"I'll try to keep that in mind," Amari promised. "I'll ask more questions." He'd seemed to be alright with curiousity. She looked a bit awkward at the offer of food and quickly shook her head. "No thank you," she said. "Thanks for offer--no germs, really?" She asked. "How do you manage that?"

Dari smiled. "I'm technically a sentient fluid in a membrane. This is all just fae illusion," he said, gesturing up and down himself. He went to take off his ring, but paused with his fingers on the green stone.
"First promise me you aren't going to run screaming. I'm told that I'm rather unsettling."

Fae illusion? Sentient fluid? Amari was fascinated! "Really?" She asked, looking him up and down. "This is really impressive magic," she said.
"I promise."

Dari popped his ring off and appeared as his normal self, the only remaining features being his facial structure and his smile; closed-lipped, instinctively. He offered her his hand, but didn't pressurize it, so it would squish if she touched or squeezed.
"It's a 'true form' spell or something like it. It took three people and a total depressurization, but here I am."
