"What other programs do you use?" She asked, then, looking at the computer. "I think I'll enjoy it. Everyone seems friendly." Except for him, actually. He was a bit intimidating.

"Other than Seeker, it's just the usual stuff. Photoshop, video editors, things like that." She said 'friendly' then and he laughed. He was less than friendly with interns, and frankly he didn't care. This wasn't a job you could teach someone quickly. It took years to get the proper experience and then he was the one left firing people who didn't work out. It was better to weed them out in the beginning.
Seamus wandered into the office then. He sat down on the rug, squinted at Lori, and then seemed to startle slightly and stared wide-eyed at Amari. Lori watched him.

Amari's gaze followed Lori's, and she smiled when her eyes rested on Seamus. "Aren't you beautiful," she said. "I've never seen a cat sidhe before." She let her head drift down towards the floor, in case he wanted to sniff her.

Seamus watched her lower her hand, but didn't approach. His gaze turned to Lori.
"She's an intern," Lori said. Seamus stared. "She wants to work in Research."
Seamus' gaze turned back to Amari.
"I told you he's not very friendly," Lori said. Seamus casually cursed him and left the room. "Aaand he just cursed me. See? I told you." Then called out at Seamus as he left: "I clean your shitbox and regulate your food, you can't afford to be angry with me!" Then back in the room he was with Amari: "Sorry."

"It was nice to see him, all the same," Amari said, and smiled slightly at Lori. "What's being cursed like? You really just feel cursed?" She was fascinated.

"He doesn't do it as often as he used to," Lori admitted, "He lives in this department mostly. You'll see him around. You're not fae, so your chances of being cursed are pretty high." He looked off in the way Seamus had gone again and then shrugged to Amari.
"With him, you become increasingly suspicious that he's cursed you, which can also happen if you plainly expect that he cursed you. He's pretty open with his hatred, though. Oh, and fair warning, he understands English and Gaelic, can reason and can get himself across pretty well on a letter pad. He will also beg you for your food." Thanks to Maia. "He's like a half-cat, half-person."
He paused then.
"Has anyone warned you about Michael?"

"Oh, fun. It's not everyday I can write home and tell people I was cursed." She shook her head and smiled slightly. "Ah, so he's racist." Silly pretty cat. "Maybe if I give him something to eat, he'll like me better."
"Is Michael a cat sidhe too?" She asked.

"Uh... no."
Lori looked up to several empty points in the room. "Michael, are you there?"
No response. Of course that didn't mean anything.
"He's our resident spirit, and sometimes he likes to screw around with the newbies."

"You have a spirit working for you?" Amari asked, curiously. She didn't seem fearful, at least. "Sounds fairly normal. In the highschool I went to, new comers always got messed with."

"We do. I don't know if anyone pointed out his room to you. It's in kind of a weird place, but it has a doorbell. Never go in there without ringing. Ever. Especially if it appears to be unlocked and empty." Lori shook his head. "It wouldn't be so bad if he didn't like to terrify people on a whim."

"No, they didn't," Amari was grateful for the tip. It would've been awful to be caught unawares. "Thank you, Mister Yraudhen!"

Ah. Maybe who ever had given her the tour had forgotten. When you weren't a constant target or a close coworker you tended to forget. And then there was poor stubborn Kevin.
Loir made an annoyed face again, face twisting and eyes rolling up.
"'Lori's fine. Nobody calls me 'Mister Yraudhen.' In fact most people refuse to."

Oh, first name basis already? Amari hadn't expected that for a long while. "Alright, Lori," she smiled at him. "Did you have anything more to show me?"

Lori pursed his lips and looked around his desk, then up the wall at the bulletins. You know, when you came down to it, there wasn't much more to the job. You just had to be smart. Knowledgeable. Observant. He couldn't possibly know if Amari was any of these things just yet. Maybe it had been a mistake to give her his nickname. Maybe she thought she was in already.
"How about this: You go take lunch, meet some people. Don't let Seamus in the cafe if you're going down there. When you get back, I'll have something queued up for us to look at, alright? Something I haven't seen either. We can go through the whole process." Minus the time it took for Seeker to do its job. He'd just find a short video or a series of photos and nab them from some willing tech.

Was it lunch time already? Amari nodded at him gratefully. "Alright, back in an hour?" She stood from her chair, politely putting it away before looking to Lori. "Thank you for showing me," she said. She headed from his office towards the cafeteria.
She nearly bumped into a blonde woman along the way. Maia didn't seem to mind, though. She'd been kneeling to give a piece of chicken to Seamus. The Selkie did pause when she realized that she didn't recognize her, though. "I'm Maia," she said, by way of introduction.
"My name's Amari," Amari said, and looked down. "It's my first day. I was told he wasn't friendly?" She gestured to the cat sidhe.
"He's friendly if you feed him."
