Melanie caught the faint smile that touched on Storms lips and squinted her eyes slightly, trying to find any double meanings in what the Captain asked. She sighed in defeat, the crossed her arms and tilted her head to the side. "Alright Captain, seriously what are you planning for me to do?" She paused, then added, "And if it involves seeing that wierdo-old what'shisface-then count me out."

Storm's smile turned sour when Melanie mentioned Hapli; she spat in disgust onto the deck.
"Trust me; If I could keep you from him, I would. No, no; I just wanted to show you the ropes."
Get a few drinks in you, see what you're really like. The drow grabbed Melanie's hand, pulling her gently.
"Come on; we're done up here. Time to go see what's what down there."

Melanie was relieved that Storm wasn't planning anything with her and Hapli, but sensed something else with what she'd said. She let Storm lead her, but blushed from embarassment when she didn't let go of her hand. Her eyes lowered to the ground slightly, and she nonchalantly pulled her hand from Storms, immediatly thereafter shoving her hands in her pockets. "So, what's there to learn?" Mel asked Storm after a few moments.

They were leaving the rough planks of the docks behind them, and moving a little farther into the "nice" parts of town. Storm rolled her eyes when Melanie reclaimed her hand. Great. A prude. Too bad she's a cute little thing.
"How to rob and plunder, and how to spot your targets well. We still need to speak of your home isle, too. I spared them, for now, only because there were too many ears listening. But now that we're alone...well, it's time to speak."

Mel noticed as Storm rolled her eyes and took her hands out of her pockets and rested one hand on the hilt of her sword, then she looked at Storm. "What about my home?" Melanie asked her wearily.

Storm pretended not to notice Melanie's hands gripping her hilt so tightly that her knuckles were turning white; she had ever confidence in her abilities to be able to avoid the first strike if and when Mel thought she'd try her luck on killing the captain.
"You said it was an operating base for the East India Trading Company? How come I've never heard of this before? I've never seen any of their ships-of-the-line escorting or even patrolling the shipping lanes near those waters."

"I said it might be a base for the East India Trading Company, not that it was." Melanie released her grip from the sword and instead just rested her hand on the hilt. "It was just something I heard from one of the officers men who came by to collect taxes." She stared at the ground for a few moments, becoming lost in thought. "Although....what if it's a secret Trading Company...." She thought out loud.

Storm's internal feathers calmed back down. She doesn't know what's she's talking about. She's just grasping at straws. Still, the drow thought she'd play along.
"There are a lot of shoals around the isle; plenty of space to hide a first-rater or five."

Melanie's face scrunched up in thought as she went over what Storm said. "Aye, that is true." Then after a few moments, she realized what the captain was trying to do. She was trying to trick her into allowing her home to be destroyed. Mel's mouth formed a firm line and with annoyance fueling her, she took a step forward and looked at Storm in her eyes. "Your not going to destroy my town Storm."

Storm couldn't help the slow smirk that creeped across her lips. In the back of her mind, the captain figured that she should probably take Melanie serious, but...well...she couldn't held it.
"I like you, little one, but what exactly would you do to try and stop me if I decided I'll take what ain't rightfully mine?"

"Well I was thinking about threatening you....but seeing as how you take pleasure in torture, I wouldn't get far with that." Mel shrugged in slight dissapointment, then with her annoyance at the captain in full throttle now, she just rambled on in sarcasism. "Oh I know! Why don't I take ya out for a nice dinner, then we can watch the stars out on the beach? Huh? How about that?!" She couldn't help but step aside, close her eyes and start paceing back and forth. Mayhap some people would be walking by and just stare at her, just to give Storm a bit of embarassment. "Guh!" She flailed her hands above her head, then after a few minutes of venting, she calmed herself down enough to walk back to Storm. "Begging your pardon captain." She shifted on her feet nervously. "What could I do to ensure my towns' safety from you or any of your other plans of attack?"

Storm shrugged lightly. She ignored the staring townsfolk, as she always did. The drow did however, go so far as to pop the cowl of her cloak up and over her head, hiding her starkly white hair and ebony skin from immediate view. Folks hadn't taken a shine to her just yet. Something to do with some sort of raid or another.
"That dinner would be a start. Do you have a particular place in mind, Mel?"

Mel squinted her eyes at Storm, her cheeks getting red from both embarassment and frustration. "Ya know, I was being sarcastic?!" She sighed in exhasperation and turned around to face the townspeople-and without a care in the world, allowed herself to vent once more- "Bullocks!" She nearly shouted, then took a deep breath to calm herself, turned around and looked at Storm. "No, I don't have a place in mind. Perhaps because I've never been here before. So, you choose."

Storm smiled slightly.
"Too late; I've already called up the offer. What are you in the mood for? Seafood? Soup? Some lemmings? What?"
