Brutus the Dehumanized (( WOW lots of stuff goin on here in the wastes isnt there? Is there some sort of RP idea that i missed happening? ... Sorry it's taken me so long Lyanah, I've been doing lots of stuff.)) Brutus caught sight of Lyanah and smiled widely. He rose from his seat in the little cave slowly, arms extending to greet his little sis. "Hello lil sis! I'm glad you came to find me."When she was within a rm's reach, he scooped her up and placed her on his shoulders. "We've been needing to talk for a while now.". (( hey don't worry about it silly, Ive been busy too smile )) Lyanah sat lightly on his shoulder, a position she'd grown accustomed to throughout their variouse endevors with the brotherhood. She smiled over at her large comrade. "of course I came! Ur my closest and most valued friend Brutus! What is it you had to talk to me about?"

His smile faded away as he began to walk with her on his shoulder farther north. "Well, I never really got to talk about how we're related to each other. I wanted to see how you felt, and I've been trying to decide how I feel about it." He sighed slowly. "As much as I'd love to just ignore it, I simply cant, it's way too important."

((@Brutus the Dehumanized: No, you didn't miss an RP idea, I simply went into the wasteland as some Elders have done in the past and CFAR decided to follow me on some vendetta about paperwork, then he got injured and the rest of the squad came to rescue him. So nothing going on really, just heading off into the wasteland. 3nodding ))

*Nine Hours Later*
After traveling through Kentucky, he was halfway through the old state of Tennessee, the storm was getting bad, along with fatigue setting in from having to keep the APC driving straight and from getting pushed over on it's side, having to fight the storm the entire way, it must have been a big system since he was traveling into it rather than with it, along with the area it was covering. But wasteland storms were unpredictable and the eastern storms the worst, so it was no surprise.
Half an hour more passed when a rocky outcropping came into view, steering towards it, he discovered it was a shallow cavern, but just large enough to fit the APC along with the Humvee hitched to it, so pulled inside to get out of the weather. Shutting the engine down, he lowered the rear ramp, set up a turret at the mouth of the cave, then closed the ramp, laying down in the center of the APC amongst the piles of crates containing supplies and just slept in his armor, for the first being relatively safe rather than being in the open wasteland.

((Oops, my bad, sure I'll answer you...)) Alexi continued to attach blood units to the IV as he answered the question. "Hard to say, He's sustained massive amounts of damage to his skin and several organs, not to mention several cracked ribs. If he doesn't die from internal bleeding, he might die of exposure and infection. Suffice to say it doesn't look good if we can't get to Outpost 13 fast enough. ." Alexi gently inserted a needle of oxycodon into Marks shoulder and gave the man a few cc's. Applying anesthesia to a dying man was a little give and take. Analgesics had a tendency to mess with the heart and breathing, two traits that needed to be stable, especially during a transfer. Then, slowly, and as best as he could in a speeding helicopter, Alexi began to clean the wounds around Marks abdomen, it would do little good if an infection began in the gut.

Watching his facial expressions she began to get a little worried...she remembered well the day he told her they were related and how immediately after he'd have to go away on a mission so she had had no time to really react...since then they hadn't seen much of each other both being kept busy in their own way... "I dont know what you mean...to ignore it...theres no way to ignore something like that..I mean yes there are things we cannot possibly understand that go along with this but in alot of ways doesnt it seem fitting? When i got here i didn't really make very many connections between people..it seems easier that way because things DO happen on the battle field and i've always tried to prepare myself for just that situation. As time wore on though the Brotherhood became more of a family...and you've always been at the forefront of that. As many times as we've fought alongside one another...it almost seems fitting that we should end up tied to each other in one way or another. I wont let you get injured, and you return the same protectiveness over me...its just how we've always been...why do you look so troubled Brutus?" As she finished talking she placed her fingers on the hard line between Brutus's eyebrows...her face was flushed, she always rambled when she got nervous so all of what she'd said had come out in a jumbled rush of words until the very end..where it had turn introspective...calculating almost..careful.

York turned to the east, immediately recognizing a dust storm coming his way. He glanced left and right, brooding over what he should do. The Brotherhood warrior's hunting journey had just begun, and he did not wish to return the base yet. However, he didn't wish to take any risks. He was not adequately supplied, and, although he could have avoided the storm if necessary, he chose to return to the base...

Mira was tensed up, as soon as she and the rest of her squad had gotten into the vertibird. Mira had strapped herself in to the point where she couldn't move, she had felt queezy just thinking about getting on and now seeing everything move at a much faster speed made here even more queezy. Just join the brotherhood and barely being broken into basic training she was thrown on this machine and told to go out. Nothing like a crash course to start your first day.
Seeing a billow of smoke off in the distance Mira figured that must be their main objective, or at least had been. Setting down the young initiate unstrapped herself and quickly left the chopper keeping her head low as she took in deep breaths of air. Feeling light headed she need a moment of rest before continuing. Managing to collect herself she turned and started to board the vertibird until she noticed the chard mutilated body of Mark. Not being able to stomach the sight coupled with the flight the Initiate turned and vomited on the ground next to the vehicle.
Mira didn't think she could stomach the sight of someone so badly injured, "I-I'll stay here an-and guard the wreckage" she said as she stepped away from the vertibird as it began to lift off. "Just don't forget about me out here ok?" she shouted over the whining of the engines.

*Twelve Hours Later*
After about eight hours, he had woken up and packed everything up and continued along in his journey for the past four hours, just crossing the old state lines on into Mississippi. Plotting out his course, he figured that he'd avoid the ruins of Jackson, Mississippi because it'd surely be inhabited with undesirable hostiles. So he started a slow curve to detour around the ruined city to reach the final leg of the journey. At least the landscape wasn't as barren as before, occasionally he passed the skeletons of still standing trees, their trunks charred black, making them look menacing, but their dead roots were buried deep in the soil still holding them upright.

"It's just..." His voice trailed off as he thought for a moment. He tried to recall as much as he could about his time away from the brotherhood. He had ventured far to the north where the hot sand he was so farmiliar with turned to wet white stuff. He narrowed his eyes and nodded. "While I was away, I had to test myself; to prove to myself that I was still strong despite my cowardice of leaving my family. I walked far to the north, so far that there was this white powdery wet stuff instead of sand and dirt. I found this large mountain that scraped the sky and led to the Great One himself. Seeing no greater challenge, I began to climb. I lost all track of time; I had no idea how long I climbed the side of the massive rock, but I kept climbing. It seemed like an eternity as the wind sliced into my skin and the cold powder froze my bones. I had to bask in the Great One's glory, only he could could asure me my strength was true. I dont remember how, but I slipped and fell. My mind rushed with a million thoughts all at once until finally I heard a loud crack and a rush of absolute cold. I thought I had died, that I had broken my back and my soul had shattered. Turns out I fell into a lake covered in clear slippery stuff. I fought my way to the surface of the water and pulled myself out of it's chilling grasp. I would have died if it had not been for two wolf men that pulled me away. They seemed like tribal humans, but they had wolf heads on thier backs and fur covering thier body. We did not speak the same, and so we had a very difficult time talking. They showed me some paintings on a cave wall after they warmed me up in a house made of the white stuff and gave me some fur to wrap around my skin. There were pictures covering the wall of this cave, but in the center was a huge painting of a mountain with a large man standing underneath it. The man held a boulder over his head, showing he had great strength. They thought that I, was that man. They gave me food, warm water to drink and many other grifts, most of it was jewlery made from animal bones and hides. To them I was some sort of sign, some kind of message. I had no idea what I meant to them but it was apparently of great importance. The showed me the way back south and thats how I continued my journey." A tear fell down his cheek. "It was the strangest thing. My reason for telling you this Lyanah is because I was much like the wolfmen. I was alone, fighting to survive and trying my hardest to find something. If they had known that I was just a coward climbing a mountain, and not a god falling from the sky... they would have been heart broken, much like when I found out so much about my past. To discover EVERYTHING you know was a lie, a fabrication brought on by some foolish delusion..." He stopped walking, his gaze fixed on the sand between his toes. "Thats when I decided, that I had to be stronger. Knowing what i knew, I had to get over it. I had to go on like I had before. This might not seem like it has much to do with you, but it realy does. Listen Lyanah, you have been my greatest inspiration and the one I love the most. You were the first one to call me 'friend' in the brotherhood, despite our diffrences. You showed true devotion and true strength, more than I have ever shown. I envy you lil sis as much as I love you. What bothers me the most, is that a little human girl," He started to laugh. "A little human girl is so much stronger than me: a big bad supermutant. I shouldnt let appearences fool me, it's just so hard. To find out that you are my blood, that you are my creation's creation made me more happy than anything else. It also made me a bit sad, because it shows that as my body and mind get older and fade, there is a much younger and stronger person who will replace me. I have not been good at much except being strong, and although I can lift things larger than myself, I cannot bare even the slightest inconvenience when it come to my brain. I am strong without, you are strong within." He picked his head up and tried to look at her on his shoulder. "Thank you for showing me everything you have lil.... my grand daughter. You have done so much for me, and now I need to make sure you live on. Our stength must be eternal, and you must live on to pass that on to your children. Thats the other reason why i am upset, because you are always in danger, and I cant let anything bad happen to you."

Lyanah listened intently to everything her friend...her grandfather...had to say. It was still kind of odd to put that name on him...i mean to think they were related came naturally just by the level of friendship that had grown but to actually have a label for that kinship would take some getting use to. Throughout his tale Brutus had revealed alot that she hadn't known and when he had said it didnt seem relevent to her she'd thought much the same. As his voice trailed off to a close at the end she sat silent for a moment..then kissed his big cheek. "Don't be sad...our strengths lie in two different areas...but perhaps thats because family is defined as a whole as opposed to seperate parts. Stronger together than when seperate. I'm in no more danger than any other human whose joined the brotherhood, you just see that because your the one whose around me most. And while you may think that you lack strength within it isn't true. Yes as we grow old our memories begin to fade and our bodies begin to weaken but you've never been weak and i dont believe you ever will be. You may get frustrated with how your mind works, there are more inhibitions when it comes to your mind than most, but i've watched you overcome those obstacles time and time again. So you see really...neither of us is stronger than the other when it comes down to it...at least mentally...i highly doubt i could lift a car over my head i'd get smushed flatter than a pancake...but you see the inner strength is all measured in circumstance, the ability to overcome ones own mental obstacles..." Here she smiled. "You know you scared me at first you big lug. i thought you were giving another goodbye speach! As long as you stick around i'm sure both of our strengths will work well together for the benefit of everyone around us...except maybe for the ones we end up pranking because you gotta admit some of the pranks we pulled were pretty freakin sweet if i do say so myself even if we had to apologize to your metallic friend after the fact! Thats one thing we have to work on...not getting caught..." Grinning from ear to ear she spoke a little softer. "We'll both live on, i promise you that, theres too much fighting spirit in both of us for one to fade away.."
