I'm amazed he isn't climbing the walls.... *Bard chuckles. They reach Room #22 and Bard puts his key in the door. He opens it, and holds it so Maggie can step inside*

*Maggie laughs a bit* I dinna doubt he would be, if he could manage it. *she hesitates briefly, then steps into his room, clasping her hands in front of her*

*Bard shuts the door behind them gently and flips the light switch. The wall-mounted lampts of the room cast enough light to keep the room cheery without being garishly bright. Bard steps over to the bathroom and turns the light on. It, in the manner of all bathroom lighting, is extremely harsh. He walks over to the shower where a towel and a terrycloth bathrobe are hanging on pegs. He removes them both and turns to Maggie.*

I'm afraid I don't have a hairdryer in the Brink, but you can towel yourself off at least, and put this on while we hang your clothes to dry.

*Maggie blinks, her eyes adjusting to the sudden change of light, particularly in the bathroom. She glances around the room, amazed and a little puzzled by it, but she turns her attention back to Bard when he speaks*

Ehm . . . *she turns decidedly red as he hands her the towel and robe* Aye . .. thank ye ....

*Bard steps out of the bathroom and hands her the robe and the towel, giving her a peck on the cheek.*

I'll wait for you out here.

*Maggie can't help but smile as he kisses her, though she's still blushing. She closes the door to the bathroom, then shakes her head at herself, and sets herself to the task of drying off before she catches too much of a chill*

*Several minutes pass before Maggie opens the door again and peeks out, now wearing Bard's robe, though it's huge on her. She's taken the pins out from her hair to towel it, though it's still damp and starting to curl rather out of control. Her wet clothes are clutched in her arms*

Ehm . . . *she clears her throat a bit awkwardly, then asks* Should I just hang these te dry in here, then . . ?

*Bard is sitting in his desk chair, admiring the antique typewriter that the Brink has bestowed upon him. At the sound of Maggie's voice, he swivels the chair around to face her*

Just in the shower... or wherever you can. Do you want a hand with it?

Oh, 'twill only take me a moment. *Maggie says, ducking back into the bathroom. She stretches up to drape her things up to dry in the shower, then steps back out and pads halfway over toward where Bard is sitting*

*She smiles and lets out a self-conscious little laugh* Now if only I could wait the rain out, here . ..

Well, we'll at least keep you warmer for the time being. *Bard swivels his chair 360 degrees and comes back to face Maggie*

I never noticed, but... this is... exactly... my old chair...

I miss this chair. *he says it sort of wistfully*

Oh... I sold it.. *he hops up and down in the seat like a kid, appreciating it's springiness and comfort* While I lived in New York for a little while I had an apartment like this. When I moved to Chicago, I sold all my furniture with the apartment.

I wonder if they still use the chair... I hope they didn't throw it out....

*Maggie smiles to watch Bard practically bouncing in the chair, and listens thoughtfully. She always been hesitant to pry into people's lives, but she can't help but be curious to know more about him* . . . Ye've lived quite a few different places, have ye not?

Not a lot.. Just Portland, and then college, New York, and Chicago.... *he sighs and smirks* I suppose that's quite a lot for you, isn't it?
PostPosted: Wed Aug 17, 2005 4:32 pm

*Maggie nods, getting a bit of a distant look in her eyes* Aye . . . most people in my time live their entire lives in the same village . . .

*Bard nods* In my time, it really depends. Sometimes people spend their whole lives in one place. Sometimes people move a dozen times.

*he stands up, walking over to the window, pulling the curtain aside, and leaning against the glass. Outside, the city of New York sprawls in evening splendor. Bard can't figure out how the window works--he can't even get it to open--but it brings him comfort watching the cars and the people, even if all they are is illusions*

It might have been different if things were better with my family. I might have stayed in Portland, become a mechanic, married my high school sweetheart. Cynthia Tuttle. They called her Cynthia Turtle all the way up through Junior year. *he grins remembering* Boy did she blossom then....

*he glances at Maggie* I don't mean to bore you with stories of old girlfriends....
