It turned out to be the following afternoon before Mari found the time to visit with the Aldrich family and see what they had been up to in her absence, and Andarien presented her with two items: a silver pocketwatch with a dragon engraved on its front, gears visible from the back of it; and a wind-up music box that played a song he'd learned from one of the servants, one that he'd been told meant something to the royal family. On top of the music box was a dragon which, when the music played, had legs that moved and a body that swayed from side to side fairly realistically, as well as wings that opened and closed. He had painted it white and gold, like Kasal.

Mari also took the time to speak with everyone, to see the new Eevees, and to find out how things had gone in her absence.

The rest of the week was spent in preparation for the travelers' departure, until at last, the day arrived when they packed everything they didn't need for that day and made their final preparations. The feast that evening was massive, and everyone went to bed that night with full bellies and sleep-filled eyes. Then, when morning arrived, it was time to gather everyone together and return to Shiezin.

Kyrie was the first one ready to leave, and when others began to arrive, she was already waiting with her bags in the entrance hall.

Miyuki had taken that week to finish off the preservation boxes. She was highly grateful for the materials (and carpenter's work) given to complete them. There were two large boxes, one small box and several bento sized boxes. The two large boxes, one to store fruits and spices and the other to store meat. The one to store fruits and spices had many drawers which she etched to preserve and to have endless storage. This meant each drawer could fit different sized fruits and spices (or herbs) could be kept separate as well. The drawers looked mismatched, with larger drawers on top and smaller drawers at the bottom. The second box could be opened on every side except the bottom, again, Miyuki runed it for both preservation and to hold endless things, it would hold meats and they could separate the meats if needed.

The small box, was for cold things. She figured when they were north if she could get a hold of cream before they leave, she could make ice cream with Shiro's instructions. Then take that ice cream and sell it in other places, she was fond of the stuff, and it was the very few things she missed from Gaia.

The bento sized boxes were a luxury, one could pack a hot meal in there and it would remain hot for later. She doubted anyone would buy them off of her, the magic might scare them off, but for her family she figured they could use it.

The bentos she kept in her bag, but the boxes, after putting in their provisions, she put in the tent (they wouldn't fit in the bag).

"Which reminds me... I need to give Lancerial and Cael their new tent," Miyuki murmured as she picked up her bag.

Talk about a busy week she thought as she smoothed out her new clothes. She liked them, mainly because she got to design them with the tailor. So there was a bit of home in the clothing, there was a very Gaian Eastern flair to her top and sash.

Taking one last check to make sure she had everything, Miyuki went to join the others at the entrance hall, and hopefully catch her teacher and her teacher's husband there to give them their new tent.

Miyuki was not the last one to arrive in the entrance hall: Cael and Lancaeriel were not yet there, though even Mari was waiting to send them all off - and of course, Mathias and Chesnet were there with her.

"I hope it's not too long before you come back to see us again," Mari said to everyone, her voice warm and sincere. "I know, you're going on quite a long journey, but I do hope you'll return before too long."

Suddenly from the tower stair several voices could be heard, and she looked over and smiled. It was Lancaeriel and Cael, surrounded by Cael's family. Iadrim was hanging off Cael's arm, while Dae'er looked like she was trying to convince the two of them to stay.

Lin looked up and chuckled at the sight. It looked like the whole family was seeing Cael off, or maybe trying to convince the two to stay.

"It would be wonderful to return," Lin replied as she took her eyes off the group, "And with everyone else next time."

"Yes, I would very much like to meet the rest of your group," Mari said brightly. "Do bring them as well."

Lancaeriel, Cael and Cael's family arrived just then, and Janos and Hamir put down the bags they had been carrying - Lancaeriel and Cael's bags - on the floor.

"Ready to go?" Earendil asked the two of them, trying not to look too amused by Iadrim's hanging off of Cael.

Cael chuckled and put one hand on his little sister's shoulder. "Some of us more than others," he admitted.

"You could stay," Dae'er said quietly, sounding as though she'd said the same thing many times before.

Cael hugged her. "We can't," he said firmly. "I can't be anywhere without Lancaeriel, and as a mixed couple we wouldn't be accepted here. You know that. Besides, I'm nothing but a reminder to everyone of the terror they experienced over the past two hundred years. The country will be better without me."

It was a bit sad, Lin could understand where Dae'er was coming from. She had waited so long for her son only for him to leave again.

"And we will be back before leaving going off again,"
Lin reminded Dae'er.

She was sure by that time, people would be less likely to associate Cael with the General, but there wasn't much that could be done about the issue of being a mixed couple.

"And we will be sure to visit whenever we can," Cael added, giving his mother a warm smile.

Dae'er tried to smile, but it didn't last long. Very quickly, she was blinking back tears.

Arphenion put one hand on Cael's shoulder. "You know that you are always welcome," he told his son firmly.

Cael smiled. "I know." He hugged his father, then each of his brothers, then his sister, and then his mother again; and then he turned to Mari. "And your Majesty," he said warmly, bowing his head to her. "I wish you all the best."

Mari touched Cael's shoulder lightly. "And you," she murmured. "Thank you for all you've done. I will make sure your family is well looked after."

Lancaeriel had picked up their bags, and now she handed Cael's to him.

"We'll see you all again before you know it," Cael grinned at them all. "Until then, stay safe."

The others bid everyone farewell, and Kyrie led everyone out the door.

It was always good to be out on the road again and once they were out of the city. This allowed the Pokemon to be out and about, even PonyDash who rarely got out at all.

Though now that they didn't have to go at that neck breaking speed, it would probably take them a bit longer to get back than it did for them to get there.
