Scalar Warfare I think he might be getting pissed that I am refusing to engage his blade. Scalar Warfare I'm not even particularly concerned about outright parrying that katana either, were it, you know, a normal blade as opposed to what its wielder probably thinks it is, a la HEAVEN SHATTERING SOULBLADE OF ARCANE MIGHT that will 'break my flimsy blade asunder' or some nonsense. Wait, he wants you to blade clash with a katana? A weapon where striking a metal object would absolutely destroy the blade's edge and ruin his weapon? ...ah... good for him? Katana aren't for blade clashing and chopping wood, despite what fiction may tell him.

They'll be alright.

My opponent needs to get on and figure out how she is going to work around the lack of effectiveness of her pheromones. I want to Bane the s**t out of her and it will happen...

I think you're doing a fine job of it. Can't really comment on what your opponent expects as far as when the blades make contact, but let it be a lesson to him as one swordsman to another, writ in blood! The Great Absolute It's all about the angle of deflection and where and how your blades impact and meet. You can deflect a katana all day long as long as you know where to parry and how to riposte and counter. The problem with that is writing it in a way that is not the same as auto-dodging all over the place, and without making it become too technical about the actual movement of the blade. themightyjello Where's the streetwise Hercules to fight the rising odds? He's gotta be sure He's gotta be soon And he's gotta be LARGER THAN LIFE! (LARGER THAN LIFE!) DAMN this song is BUMPIN'!

Then we'll see what happens. I take pride in the mechanics and the detail I attempt when describing melee combat. Every detail is important, like for example: As my fight progresses the footwork and hand work detail will start getting more and more descriptive. The devil is in the detail.

Sure, you can do it that way, too. Fun is subjective, after all. With my posts I want to avoid requiring the opponent to have to decipher what's actually happening. Footwork, bladework, positioning can be conveyed rather concisely. Less is more. Show, don't tell. Etc.

Footwork, bladework and positioning need to be etched out in as much detail as possible to get rid of any gray areas that might be disputed by those using lesser detail but expecting the same level of understanding. If you're vague then I will treat your posts to be as vague as it permits. Where as when you try to refute something I write, I can go "Noooooo if you read XYZ" and then it will spurn off into "hurrrr I don't like reading a lot of words and didn't understand what you wrote because I'm stupid and have no concept of combat mechanics or I was too stupid to ask a question." We're not Hemingway and the Iceberg doesn't apply here.

Footwork, bladework, positioning can be conveyed rather concisely. Less is more. Show, don't tell. Etc. Basically this. I have a solid grasp of technique, I know how to parry. The concern was more that if I indulge the opponent in clashing blades he might claim that his weapon is not just an ordinary sword, kind of like what Shockingcat is doing with his swords. And most importantly, and this is directed at mostly Ertai, is that I want to convey the nuts and bolts in a manner that reads like an thriller, not a fencing manual. The technicals are very important, but no-one wants me to reference moves like the bronze etching plates or Venetian manuals, that s**t is objectively boring as ********.

The Great Absolute themightyjello The Great Absolute In a vacuum it doesn't matter. In space, no one can hear you call hax Dominioblivion. Makes me want to make a character named Domiel Oblivio, who harnesses the power of Dominioblivion. @ Technicality: I usually take it as far as the other player is comfortable with. Sometimes narratively it just flows better to leave descriptions a little loose so that takes precedence but I'll get as detailed as it needs to be and if I feel like I'm making it hard to keep up I'll turn it back a notch or two... Because I'm a GIVER. Where's that white knight upon a flaming steed~?

Ertai. Your not gonna agree with this. but why not give the girl a break and play along with the pheromones. Make it interesting. Do you really think she is as experienced with the Logical Reaction Stack style of play? I think pheremones is her only gimmick. Without that, she is just kinda there with a sword...and I mean that can be fine but...ya know?

I'd love for you to explain why it would be like reading a manual? I don't expect someone to count the number of dirt particles on their pants or how far their toes are apart. I do expect from the people here to post proper mechanics and if they're using a weapon or a martial form to know how to describe transitions from one attack to another and proper technique and form. Any of the scrubs can grab a rapier and swing it around and act as if they're a fencer. I'd like to at least know you're read on the subject so when it comes time for you to argue I just lololol all the way to the rage bank and deposit their crying a**, bitching about something I did because it was lost in the text they should have read.
