She made sure to stay next to him, her eyes scanning where she placed her feet, also trying to examine the forest around her. "Taking the road less traveled... cooool. It's like that one quote you always hear people saying." She thought for a second on exactly how the quote went, her mind giving her a blank. "Wasn't it some kind of poem, too? "Ummm...I shall be telling this with a sigh, somewhere ages and ages hence: Two roads diverged in a wood, and I— I took the one less traveled by, and that has made all the difference. Something like that?" He asked as the smell of pond water got stronger, that nice fresh, mossy smell accompanied by the fragrance of waterlilies and other water plants. Suddenly with a loud croak, a large toad set off in the underbrush. "Oh, we need to catch that." Alexander said, and set off after it, making sure not to lose Danny as he did so.

"Yeah, something like that..." she giggled, stuffing her hands in her pockets. "That's like one of those famous poems people talk about in English cla-." She was interrupted with Alexander leaping away after a toad, leaving her on the rough path. "Wait, what?!" she asked, staring after him before realizing she should follow quickly before she lost sight of him. "Alexander... wait! What are we doing?" she asked, taking a step here, a jump there to catch up, laughing in between sentences.━━━━━━━━ × ━ × ━ × ━━━━━━━━ OUTFIT -- [ x ]

╔══════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════╗Alexander spun as the toad circled him only to shoot off again with him in pursuit. "The toad's actions aren't its own, they've cast a spell on it to warn them if people are coming." He called back. "If we don't catch it before it gets to the pond, the Nixies might hide deep in the water and I don't know if I'll be able to call to them." The thing seemed to like doubling back as a means to confuse it's followers, as once again Alexander spun in a circle, trying to keep track of it so that he might grab it when the opportunity to do so presented itself. "Nixies are fascinated by humans, but they aren't foolish. They know interacting with the wrong one could bring them great harm. Of course, even with the risk, they could have used a much less-" Suddenly Alexander dropped to the ground, his hands cupped. After a moment or two, he stood, his hands wrapped firmly but gently around the suddenly much more placid amphibian. "Evasive spell." He panted, smiling triumphantly as the toad let out a feeble, defeated croak.

"Spunky little thing, huh?" She skidded to an abrupt stop as Alexander finally caught it, and placed her hands on her hips as she gazed down at the little toad, and watched it expand and retract with each breath before saying, "I think our work out for the day is done." She looked up at Alexander. "So he would have warned them?" she asked "What do we do with him until we reach them?" She reached over and slid her finger over the toad, feeling its smooth skin.━━━━━━━━ × ━ × ━ × ━━━━━━━━ OUTFIT -- [ x ]

╔══════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════╗Alexander stared at the toad for a moment, as though not quite sure. After all, the spell may not have been gone. "Um, I'm not really sure how secure my pocket may be. I guess I'll just...hold him." He said, though really his main concern was the poor thing drying out with the warmth of his hands. "Let's hurry, shall we?" He said, and picked up the pace down the path.
It wasn't long until they came to a serene little pond. It was overgrown around the bank, but the water was nice and clear. Alexander swore he heard voices, but upon approaching, saw no one. The water was rippling, but that could have simply been from the wind. "Would you mind terribly holding this toad?" He asked, turning to Danny as she caught up.
