I went into DMS for the first time today.
I have to say, I'm am so excited for new content... but I really am not a fan of crewing, so I'm really not looking forward to actually advancing in the game.
Kind of sad. I was seriously pumped for this area and I knew it was going to be more crew-oriented, but I was hoping for some way to go around solo. It's not that I have had bad crew experiences (they've been remarkably good), but I definitely prefer just going around on my own.

ikally I went into DMS for the first time today. It's not that I have had bad crew experiences (they've been remarkably good), but I definitely prefer just going around on my own. I admit that I'd be playing more, if I didn't have to invest in getting a Crew together to do so - not only does the time spent scrounging a decent Crew together feel like something of a waste, but once you've done that, you're dedicated to that Crew for quite some time. I'd like to be able to pop in for 20 or 30 minutes when I feel like playing, but there's absolutely no way to do that in DMS. Perhaps once my CL's a bit higher, I could solo around the early parts. sweatdrop
But that was intentional - DMS is an attempt at 'hardcore' zOMG!. High investment, and (presumably) high return. From what I see on the Forums, some of our regulars are really enjoying it; but I doubt it'll be a hit for the general zOMGaian population, as-is. Honestly, if people wanted hardcore gaming, they wouldn't be coming to zOMG! to begin with - and so many of the ones we have that do, simply haven't ever been to another MMO... whee

It's like it only broke when they decided to fix it. And what the ********? Cash Shop Housing items? EXPENSIVE cashshop hous- oh why am I surprised? >"Friends Chat!"

Is it just me, or does this sudden rush of guides highlight a rather serious problem?
There's only one way to do things D: That's no fun.

Valheita Is it just me, or does this sudden rush of guides highlight a rather serious problem? There's only one way to do things D: That's no fun. I find that the surge of guides stems from the fact the place feels like a death trap to new arrivals. The guides contradict each other because pretty much everyone has a bias at least on something. Just jump into a thread and yell "SWEETHEART VERSUS COYOTE SPIRIT!" and see what happens. Heck did anyone check gumshoe's usability yet? It apparently didn't slow down feared foes, making the delay to need a new cat far larger.

Valheita Is it just me, or does this sudden rush of guides highlight a rather serious problem? There's only one way to do things D: That's no fun. Occurred to me not long ago, as well. Someone mentioned that the place isn't so difficult, if you have the right strategy - and that's just it, there is a "the right strategy". A lot of players have trouble with the area, not because it's necessarily difficult, but because it's impossible for all-but-one style of play. Either adapt to "the right way", or fail.
To be honest, this is part of the reason I'd like to just level as quickly as I can; so I can stop focusing on grinding, and see if there are any viable alternatives available. However, grinding is such a chore right now, that I have trouble convincing myself it's worthwhile. But that's another problem, entirely... sweatdrop

Based off purplewiz's calculations, I can imagine that the grind is a chore indeed. D:

Based off purplewiz's calculations, I can imagine that the grind is a chore indeed. D: Wouldn't be quite so bad if it was a chore I could do by myself - however, when you have to invest an absurd amount of time to even muster up the help necessary for you to attempt your chores, they become that much less appealing.
Compacted by the fact that, as you mentioned, there's only one way to play and that it's not a way I necessarily enjoy. All-told, it's a chore I'm not bothering with unless I feel it'll pay off sufficiently - if nothing else, because I'm playing with friends at the time, and can at least enjoy the company... whee
